Isis58 and I are on our way from Masterton to Dannevirke today in the hope of picking up as many 52 on 52 and Viking caches as possible. I apologise for the cut and paste logs, I was doing the driving and didnt have much time to make any notes at each stop. Thanks for the cache Skindo

The name of this all made sense when we got here. Enjoying the trip along route 52 and we are being very disciplined not to deviate up any side roads - not easy when you see those caches sitting not far way. TFTC # 19,918
Bit of a wet cache, applied my pen nib
It's International Earthcaching weekend and I am 'bach' so have a free rein on what's optional, ding dong. I have had a plan for a while to knock off my remaining 52 on SH52 caches and that seemed viable, via Castlepoint for an EC. However, just South of Pongaroa the road is missing, so a new route home was needed and Rimu Road came up trumps. Quite a few skindo caches were found, and much enjoyment was had, cheers all COs. Almost 70 finds for the day, Ad Labs included, so all was good.

Day 2 Cache 8 today, but 51 all up for my mad mission to the Wairarapa for the 100-10-7 Challenge. Ethness has offered to drive again today. A big skindo day planned – a first for me. Easy stop here and a bit of unburying to locate. TFTC.
Day 2 of my 4 day e-bike ride from Masterton to Palmerston North and back. Picking up a few caches as an excuse to get off the bike!
2 hint options here, of course I didnt look at the GPS and just charged off to try the wrong one first!
Quick find once I sorted that out.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Easter weekend is upon us. We’ve been looking forward to this holiday - it’s a chance to take a big swipe at the PWGT2 caches. We’re also keen to pick off some interesting hides and avenge one or two previous DNFs...
Sweeping south-west from Te Angiangi/Blackhead Beach, our focus was set on knocking off the remaining caches in the 52 on 52 series. The drive should bring us into Masterton for the evening... Despite the deepening darkness, we had no trouble finding each of the caches. All finds were in good order and exactly as the hints suggested. Thanks Skindo and TFTC.

Another easy cache find. Dagg is also a local surname of the area, so nice to actually have local resident names recognised.
Certainly plenty of dags! Cache in excellent condition with original log sheet! Tftc.
Working in Masterton for a week. Headed out in the evening to collect a series of caches along this road. Surprised how well some of the caches have done despite being many years old. Felt by now I could second guess where the hide might be which helped as it was getting dark. TFTC
Today was a numbers run over to the Wairarapa to mainly boost my finds for May, as they've been sorely lacking. I had a couple of missions I wanted to achieve - finding the remaining 250 finds in a month caches (even the ones I haven't yet qualified for), and to attempt to get Skindo's 1000th. I also wanted to visit some locations in the Wairarapa that I've never been to before (even before geocaching). In 12 hours I managed to find 53 caches, including 25 traditionals, 24 puzzles and 2 multis. I also signed 5 challenges, pending future qualification.
An intersection! With a two-lane road! Parked on the corner and wandered over to the GZ where the cache was quickly found. All good here. TFTC

Cache number 23 of 56 (find number 21 of 50 for me) on a road trip from Palmerston North to Masterton (via Pongaroa and SH52) with some like-minded individuals collectively know as Geocachers!
We ascended into the clouds at the top of the Pahiatua Track, and then it was clear for the rest of the trip until we returned back over the Track where the fog at the top gave less than 20m visibility
Quick find here while some locals from this road waited at the intersection for their friends to pick them up to go watch the rugby.
Log signed as "Team PHETT" (PJMacNZ, haydn.seek, Etherlord, TwigNZ, and ThatWeirdGuy04)

Thanks For The Cache
Today my son (ThatWeirdGuy04) and I were lucky enough to be invited to tag along with PJMacNZ, Haydn.Seek and Etherlord Clan on a day trip around the Wairarapa.
We knew it was going to be a long day, but we were hopeful that we would get to find quite a few caches along the way, especially of the Mystery variety which we decided to concentrate mainly on getting.
The weather was kind to us, meaning we were able to spend time out of the car finding the caches and making running repairs to quite a few of them, mainly due to waterlogged log sheets and damaged plastic bags. Anyone finding these caches next in a good condition have EC and HS to thank for providing the requisite items.
My apologies for the generic log entry here, but the volume of caches found today makes it the best way to get everything done. With a small few exceptions, most of the caches were a relatively straightforward find, and in every case the logsheet was signed as Team PHETT for all 5 of us before the cache was replaced exactly where found.
Thank you for placing this cache, and giving us the excuse to have a grand day out.

This was all planned a few weeks ago to complete the last part of Route 52 for me and a to cover another part for PJMacNZ and collect a few puzzles i had solved, and then our party grew so it was a party of 5 followed this route. We headed to the top of the Pahiatua track and collected three puzzles caches here and a couple of trads for those whohad not already found them and then we headed straight for Pongaroa, well almost.. We signed the logs PHETT THE first inital of each of us. PJMacNZ Haydn seel, Etherlord, Twigg and That wierd guy.
and basically started from there. We managed to locate all the caches down this route to Masterton and placed new logs in quite a few and replaced containers where necessary etc . We went off the Route 52 a couple of times but only to those close to the route 52 road.
We were very lucky with the weather considering this was a winter excursion. We ran into a lot of fog at the top of the Pahiatua track going over but it was far worse coming back at 6.30pm in the dark with only about 10 m vision of the road at times. I was surprised at the amount of traffic on the road through Marima a usually quiet road esp at night but with the gorge closed the traffic had to use the Track.
We stopped at Masterton for a late lunch and sat in the park in the sun which was lovely. before walking thro the park to locate another cache that Etherlord had solved. then it was on the way locating mai nly puzzle caches along SH2 and home.
Thank you for giving us an excuse to have a lovely day out .

We took flight on the Planetary Pursuit today, off to the Wairarapa. We had this trip already in the pipeline so now was a good time to do it - first down to Masterton and out on the Te Ore Ore Road, up through Bideford to Route 52 and looping back down to Masterton again.
The weather was perfect and we got some glorious views. A childhood friend of Mrs G's had come from Bideford and about 55 years later geocaching finally took her to see the area.
We aimed for 26 caches and got them all, we replaced a couple of lost caches and a few wet logs with waterproof paper. All in all it was a successful journey and a good help along the way in our pursuit of the planets.
There were no problems with the find here, but the log is in a sorry state - wet and disintegrating. We signed and put in a waterproof log sheet. TFTC

As I pulled over in the car, I noticed a small herd of cattle on the road, waiting to travel towards Pongaroa. I'm sure the 2 adults accompanying them wondered what I was up to as I photographed the Route 52 signs, the fence posts, the view, etc. as I waited for them to move on. Finally I decided that they were waiting for me to move on, so I started hunting for the cache. It was where it should have been, but had snuggled right down into the dirt so was difficult (and dirty!) to extract. As I signed the log the cattle and muggles finally moved on.
Thank you for bringing me out this way to explore Route 52!

Hubby and I got up at 6am and were on the road by 7am. Caching run to Wairarapa to pick up mainly puzzle solves. We are hoping to get to 250 finds for August to collect that challenge cache. It was a long day and went down many gravel road. Car was so filthy we stopped in Palmerston North and put it through the car wash on the way home. Roads not busy as the weather is yuck.
Quick and easy find. Cache all good. TFTC

Did you know that planning has started for a Mega Event in Wellington in 2018? Check out the details on the [Wellington Event NZ (WENZ) Website](https://sites.google.com/site/wenzgeo2018/home) or visit the event's page on [FaceBook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/590545297801072/)
Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.
Thanks for another smilie.

On a caching foray with EthNZ into the Wairarapa today - No 14 in the race to 50 in a day, car, mind, body and phone battery willing! A quick find before a minor diversion off along a nearby side road...TFTC
#3671. Yay, Friday dawned clear and sunny and I had the day off work. So it was time to have another adventure in skindoland. Love geocaching in the wide open spaces of the Wairarapa. My mission today was to find at least 50 caches for the DGSC challenge. Set off from Wellington at 8am and got back home at 11pm having travelled on some remote and dusty roads in the back of beyond. Ended up bagging 61 caches (including one archived cache found by chance). There was farm vehicle parked nearby so I waited a few minutes. Then I realised no one was in it so headed out to find the cache. It was in the first place checked. Signed the log and returned the cache as found. Thanks for the cache skindo.
Off for a trip to Masterton from Hastings with our main aim being the the 52 on 52. In the end it took us a little over 8 hours with only two of the series that we didnt find, and picking up na few off the trail as we went. Although most were in good condition there were some that were wet and some that were just mushy logs impossible to write on. TFTC
Today was another nice day for our holiday trip in new zealand were we of course also found some caches along the way.
Today we took a trip from wellington to napier.
This is one of them. thank you for maintaining this cache.
we also did a lot of cache of 52 on 52. lot of these caches needed maintenance (most of them very wet)

Driving from Hastings to Masterton today. Route 52 seemed to be well signposted - find next closest!
37th of the day on my 52 on 52 geocaching trip. Cool name for a cache and a great road name. Hopefully Israel Dagg comes and visits it one day. TFTC.
Enjoying the drive through such pleasant countryside, and the sun has come out too. No problems with this one. Like the title, thanks skindo.
On a geocaching trip over the Wairarapa.

Number ten find on an afternoon adventure up highway 52. Quick find today. Thanks for the cache.
Found while on a 24 hour caching adventure with Skaga through parts of the Wairarapa. Was going so fast in the wee geocar that the GPS could not keep up with us and we overshot this one and had to reverse back to it. A quick find. TFTC
#1377 Found during a 24 hour caching raid in the Wairarapa with Nic-jay- seeing how many we could find in 24 hours. Quick find after getting back to the coords- pays not to overshoot them
A day in the country, eating Waiwawapa roads with the XV cache-mow-bill, sun and wind on the face. Nothing better gets this!
Straightforward find, cache in order, log signed; safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

It was 'a bit of a bog' around GZ but luckily I was able to avoid most of it and make a quick find. TFTC
A plan was hatched for another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend. funkymunkyzone, alpenmilch80 and myself flew down to Wellington on the first flight Saturday morning. We met up with vista at Petone in the Toyota Yaris rental car, as he'd flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of town and made a beeline for the start of our route at Featherston. We zig zagged our way through Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki on our way back home to Auckland. To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team AMFV".
Our 1500km / 40 hour drive consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure. TFTC!

mike-miss, funkymunkyzone, vistra and I met early Saturday morning for a two-day-geocaching-trip and once we collected the smallest relocation car available (a green camouflaged Yaris) we were on our way. funkymunkyzone already descripted the route we took in detail and I am still very impressed how he managed mostly the driving without getting lost a single time. Clearly he has his own Topo map in his head . This was a great team effort and I enjoyed the groups spirits and its laughs along the way till the sleep finally got me after the last cache in Taranaki.
In total I collected with the "Team AMFV" 278 smiles along the way and the word "brace" is no longer foreign to me. I would like to give a big thanks to Skindo and all the other cache owners for all the placements along our tour and hope I don’t annoy too much with the copy and paste logs. TFTC

Another fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend, this time in the company of mike-miss, alpenmilch80 and vistra. Three of us flew down very early on Saturday morning and met up with the other who had flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of Wellington, stopping just once to rendezvous with the other member of the team. We cached our way through the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki under the moniker "Team AMFV" (google it if you're interested, but it seemed appropriate for our mission).
We headed over the Rimutakas and started off with a loop of Lake Ferry before heading north and out into the back blocks.By the evening we were up around Masterton and heading back out into the sticks, criss-crossing Route 52 picking up cache finds along crazy little roads, the craziest of which were around Pongaroa, from where we headed back down and across to SH2 just north of Eketahuna, coming over the insane hills at Pori just after dawn. Spectacular.
We all piled into our little Toyota Yaris rental car, which had probably never seen such terrain before in its life, judging by the amount of clanging of metal on stones, and scraping of underbody on metal road centre. All part of the fun though, and nothing like taking 40.5 hours (with basically no sleep), over 1500km, to get from Wellington to Auckland, stopping at 288 caches along the way - 173 on Saturday and 115 on Sunday. I enjoy driving long distances, so I drove for about the first 25 hours plus a few more hours later on Sunday - also because I had designed the route so I knew fairly well the way we were going, and this time we made no mistakes!
Sorry for the largely copy/paste logs, but it's hard work remembering all the different caches. Some stood out from the others but we enjoyed every single one of them and were thankful for every single placement along the way. This trip, and the company, was fantastic and a fun but shatteringly tiring weekend.

A day caching with the Seagnoid and Bright_Jun after Pongaroa Picnic Event at Four Mile Bush Reserve in Skindoland. Quick find. Thanks for the cache.
[Green] Popmac rings me up, wanting to do a raid on Skindoland. We bring in super-new cacher Bright_Jun and sneak in under the cover of darkness. We left Palmy at 6am, attacked the natives of Skindoland with a relentless assault lasting 15 hours (including an hour off for tea and crumpets at the Pongaroa Picnic Event), travelling over 450km. We even had spare petrol in the boot, because there were no shops where we went. We defeated over 90 of the little blighters, not even a decimation. I bet the lords of Skindoland won't even notice.
Does anyone else know the gumboot song by heart?
Gumboots, they are wonderful, gumboots, they are swell
'Coz they keep out the water and they keep in the smell.
And when you're sittin' round at home, you can always tell
When one of the Trevs has taken off his gumboots.
Etc..
I was (still am) a big fan of John Clarke's work.

Travelling from Rotorua to Masterton and at first unsure what way to travel. Decided in the end to go do the 52 on 52 as they seemed like a good choice on a quieter road. Enjoyed the drive, hunt and finds and despite parking being a small problem near some of the caches the road was very quiet and nothing was worrysome in the end. A lot of logs damp and some wet but mostly writable. Good effort in placing these.
Set off with Zissas for a day's caching to take advantage of everyone else being at the Mega. The hunt continues. TFTC.
A MEGA Adventure
Both Nova Lightning and myself had set ourselves caching targets that we were hoping to meet in time for the NZMEGA in a few weeks. So with a plan in progress and fuel in the tank away we set.
Departed home at 6pm Friday, returned home 3.30pm Monday, 7 hours sleep approx 470 caches and a great adventure.
Thanks to all those that have placed caches especially Skindo as I think we gave his caches a bit of a nudge
Thanks for a great weekend of Caching and Bull.

Mega Weekend
It all started about a month ago when Cats&Dragons brought up the idea of heading down the line to collect 350+ caches. We both had targets that we wanted to meet before attending the NZ Mega. Plans and locations were drawn up and puzzles were begun to be solved. It took me a while to get my head around a few of the puzzles and with the help of a cacher I was soon on a roll.
The weekend finally came and we departed Hamilton at 6pm on a Friday night. 3days, 2,000km, & 11hrs sleep, later 472 caches collected. Thanks to all those who's caches I found especially Skindo with a huge number laid.

Another nice find as we check out some of the many Masterton and Tararua council gravel roads. Some great countryside through this area, and fortunately very little traffic. TFTC
It used to be, that when I saw the name Dagg, I would think of Fred. These days, it is Israel that comes to mind.
It looks like I will have to re-visit Daggs Road for some more cache searching.

Whilst cycling from Masterton to Otapawa Backpackers, we decided to check out as many caches as we could on this 75km ride. Just beautiful country with good cycling for a couple of 70 year olds. Thanks Skindo - Route 52 is an outstanding ride - we hope to do the rest sometime. TFTC
I love taking the back road like this. A day like today with magnificent weather was made for geocaching. First half I did some time ago and today the other half from Weber to Masterton was done. TFTC!
I don't usually like to write cut / paste / template logs for caches but I do make the odd exception for 'power' trails. The main aim for my caching day today was to get from Masterton to Waipukurau via Route 52 picking up as many of the caches along the way as I could. All in all it was a great days caching and taking the back road like this really made a pleasant change from charging along main highways. No sign of anyone wearing black singlets round here, just the cache. TFTC, Biggles.
#4673. Quick find, then off down the side road for quite a lot of a dagg! TFTC.
Day 5 of the trip home to Christchurch, Napier-Martinborough. Came down via route 52, a great way to see some back country roads. A very quiet road and some small communities. Thanks Skindo for bringing us this way. 50/52 for the trail. Plus some extras!
This was where we left Route 52 for a detour via Daggs Rd to Bideford, so missed out on a few of the caches until we rejoined the road at Whangaehu.

This cache was found as part of my epic as move down south to Christchurch from Auckland - A drive that involved around 3,000km, 350 caches, 14 days, and a bit of a detour through East Cape, Gisbourne, Napier/Hastings, some back roads in the Wairarapa, Cape Pallisier and Nelson/Tasman as well as every CANZ cache along the way that I was still missing. (Hence my excuse for the not as interesting log as I usually try to make mine.) But thanks to every awesome amazing as cacher that placed caches along these roads, you made my trip awesome, and very cache happy!
I had specially planned the move to involve route 52... and it was a great day! - I learnt how to pass sheep on the road, I met some interesting locals, and wow the number of washouts on the road! Thanks so much for putting these caches out here... definitely helped me towards the 500+ in a month finding challange! - (I am still to get the official count, but I think december ended up with about 510 geocaches - of which probably like almost 150 were skindo caches )

Decided to take the scenic route back to Wellington and collect those in the series that I didn't already have. Enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the picturesque local settlements - TFTC and series.
Found at 2:27:00 PM. Slowly making our way South for the Mega in Dunedin we decided to take the road less travelled today after noticing the number of caches along Route 52 and we are glad that we did.
43rd of 52 on 52.
Thanks skindo
