Brad and Janet are on an epic 6 week trip aiming to travel along the Canning Stock Route, the longest stock route in the world. 51 wells and crossing 4 deserts. We are traveling with a group of 11 vehicles on a tour led by Ron and Trent Moon. We have the geomobile towing the mini-geohouse on wheels. We have a couple of caches to put out if we find a good spot. We will grab what we can as we pass. We have finished the CSR part of the trip and are now headed home via Meekatharra, Sandstone, Leinster, Leonora, Laverton and the Great Central Road and Surveyor Generals Corner then across to the Stuart Highway. Curtin Springs tonight with a zillion others. Almost no room even in the free camp area. A nice little EC about the 3 tors. Answers sent. Thanks very much for yet another EC Team Crackers Smile

Freddo sent Sallymander to Uluru and told her to find an earthcache. Earthscience answers submitted to the cache owner for approval. Amazing location. Thanks for the wonderful geology lesson.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Our tour stopped at Curtin Springs for lunch, where we also learned about cattle farming and paper making from the owners of the 1,000,000+ acre cattle station. What a hard life, it only rains here about once every 7-9 years! It was nice to see Mt Conner in the distance and use this EarthCache to learn a little bit about this mesa/mountain. Greetings from San Francisco and thanks for the EarthCache!

Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. Started on the 17th September in Cairns. Our plan is driving.along the eastcoast down. Then in the south on to Adelaide and from there ending the 31th October in Alice Springs.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one. The answers are send by TravelSer.All the CO's, and in this case Team Crackers, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.

Found by The Empire + HLeaving behind the lunar-like landscapes of Coober Pedy, we set out... Our destination: Yulara, the gateway to one of the world's most iconic natural wonders, Uluru. The road, once again, stretched endlessly before us, cutting through the vast, arid expanses of the Australian outback. The sky above was a brilliant blue canvas, unmarred by clouds, and the sun beamed down with unrelenting intensity, casting a warm glow over the ancient land.Amid the desert's raw beauty, we spotted pockets of vibrant life. Hardy desert plants clung to the earth, their resilience a testament to nature's ability to thrive in even the harshest of environments. Surprisingly, we didn't spot any kangaroos, but emus were a common sight, their distinctive forms gracefully roaming the arid landscape. Some interesting information here! Answers sent, thanks for the earthcache Team Crackers.- MEarthcache #406

Made the observations on this interesting earthcache during three weeks away with e.gregory1 on a trip along WA's Great Central Road and a caching circuit of the WA Goldfields. We travelled North on the Stuart Highway and out to Kings Canyon to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. From there we headed in a south-westerly direction along the Great Central Road with a number of detours along the way, including Surveyor Generals Corner and Empress Spring. Then it was down to Laverton and Leonora before turning South to Menzies and Kalgoorlie. A few days were spent on a circuit back up to Lake Carey and around to Queen Victoria Spring before returning to Kalgoorlie, then out to Coolgardie, Kambalda and Norseman, before heading for home along the Eyre Highway. Observations from afar for Attila, but got close-up to Uluru and Kata Tjuta during our walks around the area. Thanks for the earthcache Team Crackers!

Found on another trip with FeatherWaite over 3-weeks through South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia. This time the plan was to head up to Kings Canyon, across to the WA border via Uluru and Kata-Tjuta, then down the Great Central Road, with a few side-trips along the way before eventually getting to the Goldfields and home via Queen Victoria Springs and the Eyre Highway.

We had some mixed weather to start, with a few overnight showers, bit warm temperatures and mostly sunny days.

We stopped at this one as we headed towards Uluru today. Answers sent and confirmed by CO.

Thanks Team Crackers for an interesting earthcache.

Enjoying our travels around central Australia. Tftc

Visiting from Wisconsin, USA. Today I took a long awaited and seriously lengthy (19-hours!) day trip from Alice Springs to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. One of our stops along the way was at a lookout featuring a great view of a huge, distant mesa. Our guide asked us the mesa’s name. While everyone else was saying Uluru, I piped up (correctly) with Attila. Yup, having read this earthcache’s description made me the momentary star of my tour group. Thanks for a fun earth science lesson and my fleeting fame. Favorite.

Found with Kat33, Mumzi and TheGrunch. Greeting's from Calgary, Canada! After one day in Sydney we were in the air once more and hit up another site we had seen almost ten years ago and was the main reason we wanted to come back to the area. TheGrunch in particular really wanted to check out Uluru once more so we scheduled some time in this trip to head on over here once more. The flight went well and soon we were disembarking from the plane with a view of Uluru in the distance, kind of tough to beat that introduction here, Smile. Got settled in the hotel. We had booked the same one was we tried previously, the Desert Gardens, partially due to some of the other options being sold out, which surprised us considering we're in the middle of the summer heat (not sure it ever dropped from 35 degrees during the day time while we're here). TheGrunch had wanted to check out King's Canyon (something we hadn't done prior) and had a choice in terms of which cache to target. Stuck with the easier walk and enjoyed the creek walk where we picked up the virtual there. One advantage of this decision was that we were brought back to the resort where we had a leisurely lunch and found the traditional along one of the pathways there. Yesterday brought us to Uluru itself and we did a traditional hike from the Mutitjulu water hole to the cultural centre by way of Kantju Gorge. Today we hit up Kata Tjuta and picked up the two earth caches there by doing a couple of leisurely hikes! This cache was cache 3 of 3 and was found on 2023.03.05 at 3:47:00 PM for a total of 5130. No dnf's as well which is always awesome to say! TFTC Team Crackers!

We went by car from Ayers Rock to Alice Springs during our vacation with TurboPar, and we made a stop here at the cattle station.
On this outback trip, we experienced all kinds of weather: sandstorm, rain, lightning and thunder, rainbow and saw one kangaroo, a roadkill. Only a few pieces og cattle. And we stopped to look at "the apples" "thrown" at the roadside.
Thankyou for making us stop and look around at the station.

Last cache for the day. well week and what a stunning couple of days the holiday in the NT Red Center has been.

Today was a big day the biggest by far caching , distance , time out and the country. The morning started with a 4:40 coach pick up at Ayers Rock resort, breakfast at Kings Creek Station, the Rim Walks at Kings Canyon, lunch at Kings Canyon Resort and now our final stop at Curtis Springs Station.

Fittingly we had stopped to view Mt Connor just up the road ( better view there) and Mt Connor was the first landmark I identified as the plane descended earlier in the week ( yes i fess up I thought it was Uluru at first but as i had also read about this cache / location I realised i was looking at Mt Connor from the plane.

Interesting spot this

Stopped here on the way back from Uluru to Erldunda Roadhouse. Having seen Mr Connor on the way in it was great to stop by here and learn a little more about the rock we had first mistaken for Uluru itself on the road in.

Visiting Australia for work we took advantage of the long weekend to visit Uluru. We drove up from Adelaide Saturday taking breakfast in Port Augusta, Lunch in Coober Pedy and arriving at Erldunda Roadhouse just before Sunset. Today we headed out to Urulu and will return back to Erldunda before returning to Adelaide Monday. Absolutely stunning scenery both on the way up yesterday and here at Urulu. We decided to do the base walk clockwise the temperature was a nice 18 degrees which for me was just about comfortable with a t-shirt and light waking trousers without getting too warm. The locals however seemed to determine that the conditions required coats and hats even whilst riding bicycles, I suspect if we had come in summer it might have been rather warm.

Sir_spectre and I went on a long overdue holiday to the Northern Territory. We had some great experiences and saw some amazing natural wonders. Not all went to plan - covid closures, flood effected roads, renovations, hot weather, some car troubles and not forgetting the huge jump in fuel costs Smile
Any caches that needed repairs were fixed and numeous logs were replaced or added too.
Thanks to Team Crackers from mogni Smile

11-Apr-22
You learn some thing new at every earth cache. Read the sign boards and leant todays lesson. Mogni is/has sent the answers for us.

Mogni and myself went to the Northern Territory for a 10 day holiday. We drove 5478 km's in those 10 days. The plan was to go up the Sturt highway and then go via Ayers Rock, King's Canyon and then through to Alice Springs stopping at the gorges/chasm/gaps along the way. As you can expect nothing goes to plan. Day 1 Adelaide to Cooper Pedy, made it just before the Roxby Downs turn off and blow the side wall on the tire of the 4x4, 193 km detour just to get a tire and even then it was the second tire place that had the tire the correct size. We had camels come in to the campsite in Erldunda Roadhouse, they even left hoof prints 1/2 a foot from the tent, at King's Canyon we had dingo's come through the camp ground both nights we where there and at Alice springs we had a mouse move in under the tent in their campground. Some of the aboriginal towns we passed where in lock down because of covid 19 so no going in to get fuel there, that changed some plans. The floods where way worse up in Northern Territory than i realized. Some creeks/rivers i could see the debris over 2 meters from the river bed and down one 4x4 track it washed the road away completely, the hole was 3/4 the length of the 4x4 and over 6 foot deep. The temp was 33 to 36 for 9 of the 10 days and finally cooled down for the drive home. We got 7 different caches types in the N.T. plus every different cache size. It was a good trip but not the one we planned. To many of the roads in the N.T. where damaged and not repaired ( still closed ) so that cancelled plan A but that's just a excuse to come back isn't it. Come back and see what you missed last time when the roads are fixed. We came with 19 regular " geocaching size " containers and a milk crate of small containers by day 7 all the regulars where used as replaced caches and by day 8 the smalls where gone. It was the UV rays a lot more than the floods that killed the caches and almost all the log books where saved, the micro containers seemed to have constantly full log sheets so they where replaced too.

With overseas travel locked away for the foreseeable future, it was time to tick off some Aussie bucket list locations. After a few days at Yulara visiting the Uluru and Kata Juta, today was the day to visit Kings Canyon.

After a long day, which included the magnificent canyon rim walk, we are hotfooting it back to Yulara. At least I thought I was hotfooting it, until I got overtaken by a Police Landcruiser doing about 150k's an hour!

With the sun setting, we stopped here to quickly stretch the legs, grab some snacks and use the facilities. Enough time to collect a few clues.

Answers sent to the CO. Sorry for the late log. TFTC Team Crackers

Dropped in here on the way to Uluru for a quick drink. The bloke behind the counter was very chatty.

Nice and rewarding EC here, Team Crackers.

Thumbs up at the blue tree from me.

Three weeks on the road for a family holiday to Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon amongst other cool destinations had us traveling all over the place. We had a great time and the weather was extremely hot with bushfires that actually prevented us from going to some destinations.
Today we made our way from Yulara to Petermann and Kings Canyon where we would spend the next few days. Along the way I stopped to find a few caches and this was one of them.
Thanks for the Earthcache.

Owl and Eagle were on a central Australian adventure. Fortunately their tour bus stopped at the right place for this earthcache. A great excuse to examine a mountain a little more carefully.

Finally getting around to logging all my finds since this pandemic began. Answers sent to the CO!

What an extraordinary site! I have dreamed and dreamed of this place since I was a child. I’ve heard many stories from Aunties and Uncles about this sacred place. It was a dream come true to visit here!

This was interesting, we approached from alice, so mistakenly thought mt conner was uluru.

One day, i'd like to come back and do a tour through curtain springs, even better, it gains momentum and opens as a national park.
Same with lake amadeas and the salt lakes. So much to explore in this vast emptiness.
Thanks for explaining the differences in the structures around us with a geocache!

Stopped on the way to Uluru for a few days of sunrise and sunset. Info gathered and answers sent to CO.

Wish we had the time to get a bit closer.

Spotted ADF at the intersection of road heading south waiting for border crossers.

Thanks for setting up this EC.

Today we drove from Alice Springs to Yulara and picked up some caches along the road. We thoroughly enjoyed our miniature road trip, even Mrs Bear, who always gets awfully sleepy on the highway, didn't close an eye.

Attila was the first of the three tors we saw, obviously, and it was an impressive sight.

Anwers sent to the CO.
Thanks for all these informations, we really learned something interesting here. It was the perfect introduction to the area. Tomorrow we'll visit Uluru, the day after tomorrow Kata Tjuta.

Travelling from Yulara to Alice Springs by bus, and this was our first stop. While the others went to buy ice cream etc. I went to read the information sign. Found all the answers, and sent them off. I have learned such a lot through the earth caches here in the red centre! Thanks for this one.
