Day three of our trip to Geraldton for international geocaching day 2017, our fourth time attending this event since it was first done in 2013.

We started early to tackle a number of hides in the chapman river series, which was a very pleasant stroll this morning despite the wet undergrowth which soaked both our boots! Some very cool geocaches around the trail which were most fun to complete, and a few DNFs too, it wouldn't be a caching day in Geraldton with some DNFs.

We finished up there and collected a few more caches around the burbs of Geraldton including some tree climbing. It was decided that we needed to start the journey back home this time
Via Brand Highway to collect all the caches that we've missed on previous travels.

We had one last Geraldton cache in Bootenal Springs which was a lovely walk through and exploring aboriginal heritage in the area.

We continued along brand Highway collecting a
Couple of caches in dongara and then continued on collecting cache after cache all the way towards regains ford before we packed up the caches and headed straight for home.

Overall a good weekends caching with around 70 finds over two pretty full on caching days. We've got some big plans to tackle the Indian Ocean drive caches in a couple of weeks that we always seem to miss on our trips to Geraldton, hopefully staying at Jurien bay or Green Head.

Was a bit of a frustrating trip with around 30 DNFs, a number of which haven't been found for some time. We had some bad co ordinates, not sure if it was us or the cache, but spent a lot of time expanding search areas to find caches. Look forward to coming back for next years IGD event to find a few more caches around these parts!

The highlight of the trip would be the caches along the Moresby Range. Highly recommended. Thanks to the local COs for their caches.

Giving fav for what it was and the co quick response. Another nemesis Cache knocked off! Unfortunately the cache has gone missing, thanks to the CO for their quick reply to my message

Day 3 of the Geraldton trip for the IGD event held up there.

Again we started of a little late this time as I kept sleeping through my alarm. First for everything and a sign of the intense workload and Geocaching I have managed to fit into these last 2 weeks, over 600 caches, 450+ FTF, 2 events, 1600km to get all of this as well as working 2 50hr weeks.

Today's events had us clear a few more Urban caches as well as a great walk along the Chapman river, I really needed to wear shorts and gumboots as by the end of it the trainers and jeans I was wearing were saturated.

We then left for Perth around lunch and made a few finds on the way home.
It was a great weekend up in Geraldton with the deliberation in the car in the way home summing up the trip as we are suckers for punishment.

Each visit we get our worst DNF % on caches attempted, then clear previous DNF's from other years and end up saying by the end of it when are we coming back!

Again will see some of you at WA goes Big in Rockingham and possibly the rest of you at IGD in Gero next year!

Day 5 of our road trip to Geraldton and a better day than yesterday if you don't count the morning - which we missed Wink. We had a good afternoon visiting a number of quality caches and only got rained on twice which was OK given we got a good 2 hour walk in and topped it off with coffee and cake on the fore shore at the end of the day. Big Grin

Must be getting used to these clever caches as we spotted this one relatively quickly. A good cammo and a FP for this well constructed cache.
Managed to squeeze in one of our tagz.

Thanks for the cache TeamBastholm [^] - we made the find and the cache was in good order and the log dry Cool.

This was find # 1 of 16 Smile and 0 Sad today giving us a total cache count of 3188.

I rode into the park early arvo.
Bit overgrown !! Razz
So at least there were no muggles sitting around Smile
Time to chase another needle in the Geraldtowne haystack Wink

Time passed,
Beer o'clock was getting closer !!
And no sooner did I think, "Bother this !!",
than I spied something that needed investigating before I left with another DNF.

Eeek !! I found the cache !! [:o]
That's not supposed to happen is it ?? Wink
Well this time TeamBastholm,
I have foiled your attempts at cache stealth [^]

Thanks For A Cache ... at last Big Grin

We arrived in Geraldton yesterday and after having breakfast this morning we headed out to find some local caches. We started off ok and then things went downhill with lots of DNFS. We only managed 23 finds today with 11 DNFS and I'm sure most of them were missing with a few tricky ones that we just couldn't find after searching for ages. Hopefully we have more luck tomorrow finding caches. TFTC

As we head from town to town as part of our "Purposeful Meander around Oz" the Rats and the Mini Rats found this cache.
As this one had the most favourite points we couldnt leave town without having a go. After a few minutes searching I spotted something that just wasnt right and bingo.

A very clever hide and a favourite point

[Teal] As we head from town to town as part of our "Purposeful Meander around Oz" the Rats and the Mini Rats found this cache. Dad did most of the hard work here and the detail of our find can be found in the Rats log. Sorry for the duplicate log but it takes nothing away from the find.

Thanks for showing us this spot on our trip.

We hooked up the van this morning to continue our journey back home to Victoria. Sad to be leaving Geraldton as its a lovely place with some great caching to be done and an extremely friendly caching community that we we lucky to catch up with yesterday at the Geocaching Day Event. We had a great fun time chatting, caching and putting faces to names.
We couldn't resist one last chance to discover a few caches we had not found. At least this one we hadn't looked for before!
A beautifully crafted and sneakily hidden hide. Mr Ski's clever caching eyes spotted it, but not until both of us had spent some time scouring the area.
TFTC, love your work Team Bastholm

16-Aug-14

Well that took more stealth than I hoped last night... Bloody road works out at 12 at night? Go to bed. Been at the cache a couple of times with no joy but came in from a different angle.this time and got I reasonably quickly, after a few hints from CO that he didnt mean to tell me lol. This was my 50th cache and number 22 for august TFTC

TFTC. This was found on a caching trip with Cravo10 for the international geocaching day event being held in Geraldton.

16-Aug-13
While in Geraldton for the IGD event, we decided to scout out a few caches. On the way back to the hotel we saw this one appear on the screen. A quick discussion to whether we were up to a D4 search this late in the day. We decided to scout it out, the GPS'r took a little while to settle but once it had, Keego spotted the clever cache and gladly shouted "found it". A nice job on the cache, SL TFTC TeamBastholm a fav from us

10-Aug-13
Got the little sucker - a huge appreciation for this cache to TeamBastholm. An awesome hide and a favourite point from the Smelly's.

08-Aug-13
Didn't set out to get this one when I set out for my morning walk/jog. But when I looked up nearby caches I discovered it was only 356m away - who could resist that.
Had a quick look as I was running late to get back to my accommodation and have a shower before picking up the other Smelly from the team accommodation for a spot of caching and hopefully our 1500th find. No luck here today for one Smelly, can imagine it will be a great hide if any of the other TeamBastholm hides are to go by.

26-May-13
Brilliant Hide! Was glad to come back a second time to find it. One of my favorite hides so far. Thanks FTC

26-May-13
We spent a full day of caching in the Geraldton region. The caches here are of a very high standard, all have been in an ineresting or scenic location. We have found the small caches here would be micros at home, also the 1.5-1.5 are so much harder to find, so its been a very trying day.
Well done Geraldton.
Thanks TeamBastholm worth a favourite point for ingenuity

11-May-13
