The tree cover had the gps jumping around heaps but once there its quite obvious. Found with TFTC
Decided to head down towards Wonthaggi to the beach caches that I did a few years ago. After yesterdays rain, a coolish day today with a touch of sunshine and the wind was not too strong. This was the first of 12 caches - 2 DNF. -high difficulty as I was trying to fill my grid. I did a few circles here until I branched out a little further and found the cache.- which did give me a startle. Thanks know-mads for the cache in its 13th year !
A wet morning this morning so i am not sure how much caching i will be doing but i decided to head in for a little bush walk to these two caches to see how it goes. My gps had me circling about in the soggy undergrowth here but finally relented and pointed me in the right direction. Im glad the cache was then fairly easy to spot. Every now and then i find it very therapeutic to skive off from what i really should be doing to enjoy some time in nature, walking, exploring, adventuring, or just being. These days, of course, that also includes geocaching. I was feeling a bit inundated and decided to head for the coast for a sea change, at least for a few days. Phillip Island has long been a favourite so i hit the road and after a busy drive through the city i finally arrived on the island and immediately felt myself beginning to relax. When i was young i enjoyed quite a few family holidays down here and some of my happiest memories were created on splendid days exploring the beaches and rocky coasts. I will certainly find some geocaches while im here but i will probably spend more time just walking and sight seeing i think. Suprise Suprise is find number 3,726 for me. A fun small sized traditional cache I enjoyed finding as one of my caching adventures in Bass Coast Shire. I am logging this one on Thursday 25 July 2024 at 8:39 am and the weather is Moderate Rain 13C 84% 8 m/s . Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy know-mads.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Ooh what a surprise! This little trail is tucked away, definitely a quick shortcut to the beach. After a few miserable weather days we figured with the sun out and no sign of rain it was time to get out exploring the area again. Thanks know mads for the cache, standing the rest of time well. TNLNSL
We are supporting five scouts as one, our geogal, completed her Adventurous Hike for the Peak Award. We waved goodbye to them at New Haven to do the car shuffle and did some caches. We now had touched base with the Scouts at the start of George Bass Coastal Trail. We adjusted backs, they had snacks they were carrying, and we topped up their water. Off they went. Scout leader Hubby followed from a distance. While they were all walking, i set off to here to do three challenge caches nearby. Decided to do a loop in the end a grap three tradition caches as well. The surprise my girlfriend would like, but i have no fear. Thanks for the cache.
TFTC! 6 November 2023 7:35:29 pm 6359Waiting for the other half to reach the car park! (I drew the short straw and walked back to the car and drove to the other end of the beach!) a quick find, but certainly a surprise!
Out on a Christmas break with sir_spectre, exploring southern Victoria grabbing lots of smilies, finding caches in LGA's and of course signing a few more challenges.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.

quick find, no surprise today, just a smilely
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

Out with Kashbound and Kbucky who had already located this cache, they stopped so I could log my name...kbucky managed to recall the colour of the cache but not the fact that it had it's own cache guardian of the species she most fears...SUPRISE LOL...

On the bikes heading to Wonthaggi and we did a detour down this well made road. A small opening to the track and not too far in we got to GZ.
A quick search and we located the colourful cache.
Log signed and all back safe again.
Thanks know-mads

Surprise surprise indeed - I had no idea this track existed, and certainly could've driven past it without noticing it whatsoever.
Only one other car was present in the exceptionally limited parking in front of the entrance, so it's fair to say things were fairly quiet around gz, save for the calls of local avifauna.
A small trail directed us over to gz where there were plenty of potential hiding spots to check.
Fortunately, I stumbled upon the cache in about the third or so having seen a flash of colour from the corner of my eye.
The logbook was soon retrieved (the dual-container system working wonders for its dryness) and my name added to it.
Thanks to know-mads for placing this one here!

Serious nightmares for me tonight! I wondered how I was going to get this open without touching it. Got there UNTIL a bit would go back so closed my eyes Tftc Gonefishen07 I think!
We headed in to GZ and looked and looked and looked.
When we eventually saw it, it was hard to imagine why it had taken so long.
We thought it might be a different kind of surprise but it was pretty amusing just the same.
Thanks know-mads for the challenge.
Chiefton!!!

#4476 One last cache before lunch in Kilcunda. A nice quick find here of an interesting cache contatainer, you could say, a nice surprise TFTC know-mads.
After a lil look thru the bush and a bit of a fright we found it, definitely surprise!
Well today I found myself in the Kilcunda-Wonthaggi area with a day to kill. In my travels today I had much time to contemplate where I should be out caching in this area or not, given that over half the cache have been disabled due to COVID19. I could come up with 10 good reason why to and why not, and it could be debated at length without conclusion but at the end of the day I figured that the game pieces are in place still, I have breached no rules or laws, I probably couldn’t be more isolated (didn’t see a sole), many other are caching, I have sanitised my hands so much the skin is cracking and the reviewers are publishing new cache. Certainly, I would consider the risks are higher simply going to the supermarket, and I could log these cache in a few months, but I choose to do it now. Apologies if I have upset the CO’s by breaching their intentions.
The day for me started in Kilcunda, picked up a couple of loose traditional cache and then parked near the cemetery. I preceded to hike my way along the beach collecting the Killer view series and Cache Favourite challenges. Certainly the views were killers! The beach was stunning, just one set of footsteps as far as you could see from where I had come and a beautiful clear beach ahead of me. The beach and waves were stunning, and the small patches of rock formation just a wealth of interest, however there was a bite in the air that on a few occasions gave my head the pain like when you eat ice cream too fast! I continued down all the way to Powlett River mouth and had to do a little bush bashing near the river as I made my way past the beach house, fairy garden, bird in hand, the ballgame and so many other great inventions. Eventually I rejoined the rail trail back to the car after 11km or sand, dunes and trails, and tucked into a cup of tea, some sausage rolls and fruit.
My second adventure was around the Wonthaggi Heathland Nature reserve, I spied another circuit and feared there maybe more sand dunes! My legs were still feeling if from earlier. A I headed from the carpark towards the Target range knowing I was going to have to back track straight after. Then headed back towards the beach and saw an OWL! And continued on towards the beach for more isolation, more amazing views, more sand dunes, ammo cans (who doesn’t love a good ammo can?), and a little cut back through to the car. Another 10km covered, time for another cuppa, muffin bar and some nuts a raisens.
The weather started to turn now so I thought I best start making my way back home and collected a few drive byes along the way. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the day, the fresh air and kms certainly was great for my body and headspace and look forward to getting back to find some more. There will definitely be a few Fav points going out.
Thanks for the cache know-mads, a lovely surprise, thanks

Found close to the track, was easy to find and also my first find! Signed and left how I found it
It was a surprise indeed when this cache was found with ilook4geo. The cache guardian was a lovely soft and pliable creature that startled at first, but soon gave up its secret. All was good with the container and contents. The log was signed with both names and all was then put back as it had been found. Many thanks go to know-mads for this cache placement and it gets a favourite point for the cache decor.
Was out for some caching today along with goingplaces2. Love the surprise found here, which was quite close to the track. Log was signed, all was replaced and we way on our way again. TFTC.
Not having much luck today. To risky having seen to snakes already today! Will come back in winter.

First road trip caching in a while, but a caching day tho a little windy and chilly but sun came out later on.
Out with the kids 12 and 14 (yeah they wanted to come but somewhat not as excited at the treasure in the caches).... but still happy to come (if not e every day), and Pooch who l bet if could talk would say "Best day ever.. humans"... she will sleep well tonight and have puppy dreams of her adventures, sights and oh the smells...
We almost missed this one but came from another angle and had a giggle at it, Surprise... if you like these kids of surprises... we do...
Thanks Gonefishen for awesome caches again.. we love the ones where we can get out for a walk.

After taking the overgrown path from beach, I must have turned onto the wrong path as I circled around this cache 270 degrees before getting onto the main path and then found this well themed geocache.
Thanks for the cache Know Mads

Grub62 and I were in the area and thought it would be a good idea to find this cache while we were here. When we arrived at GZ we found the cache in almost no cover at all but it was there and in good condition. We have returned it to where we thought GZ should be. TFTC.
Out with Bunadoorian finding a few challenge caches down here as the CITO Tree Planting has been postponed. Seventh cache for today. We found this great surprise cache out in the open and the log book was slightly damp. We have replaced it where our phone's GPS said GZ should be. I have photos if you want to see where we placed it. TFTC know-mads
The fright is bad enough but the bullant nest is NOT funny, they frickin hurt. Tooth66 aint happy jan and now the fight begins on who puts it back.
What a surprise for geomum! Thanks for the amazing cache know-mads!

Found by HopkinsBros and BroccoliLee! Great find. Aaaahhhhh! Gave us a bit of a scare.
In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.
We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.
We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.
We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.
Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.
Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!
Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.
Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.
Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!

On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.
We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.
Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.
Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.

Couldn't find it. Will try again soon when I have more time. GPS is not very accurate
Finally found this one! Third time lucky! Surprised I didn't look there before. Not happy with its guardian. Anyway, it's off my list now!
Found it haha I walked by that marker everyday who would know and the surprise under it. Hhaha.
Great hide but if i had been on my own, i never would have picked it up!

Very clever, I walked right past it the first time. Gps was playing funny buggers at first but soon the cache was in hand, log signed and re hidden. Found with Lilmissgeo. TFTC!
Enjoyed this one gz had is 8 mr out from the location but im putting that down to tree coverage. Weve became prepared for all types of caches now which is a good thing tftc with geodude#74
Oh dear, I'm a very faint-hearted New Zealander, already wary of oversized Aussie wildlife. Heart attack material. Back to camp for some clean undies I go. Tftc. Jazzmo (NZ).
Me and geodaughter Tilli out for the night, this was a awesome but scary cache, thank you for you effort! Took smiley face badge left hand painted rock
Hi there know-mads.
We found your cache **"Suprise Suprise"** at 10:46:00 PM today. This cache makes our find count 12620.
After a great evening with Gonefishen07 and Zobo04 we were persuaded to tag along on a night time maintenance run before attempting one of the nearby night caches. Tonight we ended up logging 7 and DNF'd 0.
We found this cache very quickly on our route to the nearby night cache, so we just had to log this one as well.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around 2m from where our GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt,
Regards
Ian & Penny.
(PS: The formatting of this log will look much better when Groundspeak changes over to "Markdown" coding in early February).

This was a quick drive by on my way back to Wonthaggi for the dinner event. Found as soon as I saw IT. Thanks for the cache.
I ended up coming up to Wonthaggi to come to the events and meet up with a few geobuddys and find a heap of caches witch has been great fun. Thanks to Vanessa&adoh n0w0rries mark&kelly for meeting up and thanks to therustys for getting me a place to stay.
Found it! Having attended an event just up the road our mission with Vanessa&aodh and Lukie1987 took us south along the Highway. After grabbing a couple around Bass we arrived at the access point for our primary mission today. We were soon joined by n0w0rries and whilst +wife entertained the geohounds we set off along the track to the beach intent on getting as many of the caches on the way there as we could. Mark was first to spot this one and yes he did let out a little gasp of suprise. Hoping to catch out his hapless companions we quickly re-hid the beast but the youngsters didnt even blink. Bugger....foiled again...TFTC...☺
Early start at 6 am meet up at alchey's house to catch the 7 am ferry from Queenscliff to the other side of the bay. We had planned in advance to go for caches that would help fill in our D/T matrix and then take the "long way" home picking up some virtuals closer to Melbourne that are dwindling in numbers.
A fun hide that has been put together very well
Thanks Know-mads for the hide and location highlight.
Log signed and cache replaced as found.

Set out at 6am with Darth Briji to catch the 7am ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento to cut out some driving time, then to meet up with Dora the Explorer on the Bass coast. The hides and terrain were very challenging along the coast line with some that had us scratching our heads for sometime. Which made them all well earned both physical and mentally.
Well this is one I haven't seen before hidden in plain view of every passerby. Signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache Know-mads

Quick easy fun find with alcheny and darth bunji whilst on the way to other caches.
We had been looking around gz for a few minutes with no luck, when Geoturtle spotted something she wasn't sure of. Sure enough she was on the money and we had the cache in hand. Log signed we returned the cache to it's hide and happily moved on to our next challenge. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache. I think.

Out caching with abl973, we discovered this cache at the end of the day on our trip towards Wonthaggi. We arrived at GZ and with spot on coordinates noticed the cool camo keeping the container nice and safe.
