This one gave me some grief the last time I came by. I returned today, and found it in the second place I looked. This has to be due to luck, not skill. TFTC.
The road here is covered in predominantly red and green pebbles, not the usual grey. Signed GENJ. TFTC.
The holidays are here and the second half of the ‘Very Top of the South Tour’ begins. GraciesGPSFun and I have been joined by NosyNel and Jude_E and so the fun begin begins.

Got this one tagged on our way past. Cheers.
Im sick of the cold and wet so bugging out of town today with Motueka Gorge on my Radar. Another early start , picking up The Seagnoid just after 6am to head towards Lake Rotoiti. The morning was wet down here so became selective of what caches I scooped up along our way. Finally ended up doing to loop through to Nelson and over the Whangamoas getting back in Blenheim by 6.30. Its still been a great day even with the wet stuff and not getting to Mot Gorge.

Having 3 nights away alone up here at the Lake - looking forward to plenty of walks on all the fantastic paths around here.
Feeling a little tired after yesterday almost 6 hours wandering the Mt Bike tracks - so today is an easy day heading through to Richmond... and now heading back grabbing a couple along the way. This was a curse for me today... on the way through there was a number of bridge maintenance workers so gave this a miss till the return trip. I parked close to the said curse and walked in circles looking every time there was a break in the traffic. Finally something caught my eye.

Had our Sunday free so planned out a trip from Nelson to St Arnaud an back, overall this trip took about 6 hours and we got to adventure far beyond the road. This is one of the 31 caches that we found today.
Yes, certainly a cachers curse! TFTC

The last find of the day for us on the way back, this was a quick find. TFTC B&W.
Today was a trip to the Tasman region with Capperz; a second crack at a trip we aborted a few weeks back. A 7am start for us, the main goal was Spooners tunnel and a few newer caches on the cycleway there. After that enjoyable there-and-back trip we stopped off at Wai-iti domain and unleashed the bikes again for a climb up the nearby forestry road. An interesting trip as my bike could only get the lowest gear if I got off and moved the chain myself, which meant it mostly stayed there; while Capperz struggled with breaking on the downhill bits. I think that was the more threatening issue, to be fair. But after we safely completed that loop there were some park and grabs around back roads, side tracks and forestry roads and a brisk walk to a lonely-ish cache on a nice little conservation walking track before we decided that was enough for the day and it was off home. An enjoyable day, just the one DNF I think, the weather was not warm but thankfully held off being rubbish, which it had threatened to do in parts. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining your caches!

Found with NZDi. This weekend is Marlborough Anniversary weekend and after a couple of hectic months stuck around the house, we decided to treat ourselves to an extra long weekend at St Arnaud, so with a successful draw in the RNZAF holiday home ballot we headed to the Nelson Lakes for four nights in another part of the country we call paradise.
Thursday we cycle-cached some of the Teetotal Flat mountain bike park on our MTBs.
Friday we 'Looped the Lake' going clockwise and taking 11 hours to complete (including going up to the Travis Swing Bridge).
Saturday's aim was to clear up as many of the 18 caches we had remaining in and around St Arnaud. We managed to get 14, leaving us four to get over the next two days. then decided to work our way from the furthest cache out back towards our accommodation.
Sunday's mission was to try to get the final four caches we needed to clear St Arnaud, which we succeeded in doing.
Today was to head home but we needed to take a detour. Over the weekend we received a message that my mother, who lives in Nelson, had been admitted to hospital. So, being the dutiful son, I decided to visit her which meant a bit of a detour. On the up side, the route home was now a target-rich environment whereas our intended route would have provided slim-pickings. We decided to grab ten QEF PnGs on the way through the Golden Downs and this was the second.
As we approached GZ I looked at the features on offer... that shouldn't be too difficult... neither should that.... Oh, that's where it will be and that could be a problem, but it wasn't. Another QEF PnG.

Wasn`t looking forward to this one but Mrs WW soon tracked it down while I set up some chairs for lunch , and a very pleasant spot to stop too . Thanks bumandworker.
waited for a vehicle to drive off then sorted out where cache would be and parked right beside it. Trackable left behind.
This one made me giggle-the kids shot out of the car first, found it in as much as "we can see it but you will have to get it out!" so head down and bum up and after a little encouragement the cache was soon in hand. A very secure placement-this wouldn't have moved in a tornado!!TFTC
What's not to love?
At least it's not a Bison tube!
A fairly straightforward fine, although I did start low and worked up which took a few extra minutes.

Today was the day we wanted to crank up some numbers so we went caching for 'park and Grabs'. It was a lovely day and we started in Wakefield before heading south and then back north. This was cache No 31. Thanks to all the cache owners who made this a special day.
A spot I have driven by hundreds of times. Only a few cars on the road today, so a quick stop and grab for me. Tftc
A most enjoyable day on the road, I went to some places I’ve never been to before, and revisited some I hadn't been to for a while. The weather played its part as well with a fine day. 50+ caches along the way, so all in all a super day all round. Cheers and TFTC
A weekend trip to Nelson to attend the event then cache our way back to Blenheim via Brightwater, Wakefield and 88 Valley Road was hatched earlier in the week and with Pi Day kindly offering up not one, but two shiny souvenirs, it was agreed that we would head over the hill, again!
Saturday morning to the Event, sleep in the car Saturday night (for me, the Seagnoid would take his bivvy tent and sleeping bag) then a long and slow trip back to bag as many caches as possible. Somehow though, this was lost in communication and the Seagnoid kindly volunteered himself to be Joe le taxi on Saturday night so the whole thing was brought forward 24 hours. My G P S has packed a sad and won't work anymore so I was on borrowed equipment and hastily loaded a G S A K list of potential finds, and some solved puzzles, and off we set at about 5:30 from sunny Blenheim. Grabbed caches before it got too dark to keep going, and managed 6 by torch light which helps towards one of my missing M G S C attributes, yay, just the Events to go now to qualify. At last it's Pi day. Wake up after an uncomfortable and too warm, then warm enough, then too cold night.
On the road home, the long way round, via Brightwater, Wakefield and 88 Valley and St Arnaud.
Sometimes a cachers curse, this one is young so can still part the leaves and look in from the top, gotcha!

[green] Suddenly I find this weekend is free, So capperz and I set off to the Pi Day event in Nelson. And to grab a few puzzles. Gotta get them souvenirs! And, since we are out there anyway, grab a few dozen caches along the way.
Spent Friday night in Grampions Reserve, got to the event, and now heading back to Blenheim via St Arnaud. Main objectives out this way - the wherigo and a letterbox cache. Those done, we are now heading home the long way, via St Arnaud.
Oh. Great. Another flax hunt. Cacher's curse indeed. The only thing worse than flax is toi toi. Not only do you not get to find it, but you also get sliced up in the process. Hey! I found it! Woohoo!!

Usually sigh when my GPS points to one of these, but thankfully this was quick and easy thanks to the coordinates being spot on.
Abandoning St Arnaud, now en route to Nelson.
One of a series of caches along the way.
Ah ha, one of those hides. Good coloured cache for spotting the hide on this one.
Straightforward find. Cache in order, log signed. Cache re-hidden safely, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Lots of parking, indeed. One obvious spot, indeed. A quick find, also indeed. Excellent. Found on a big day with Team Gators down to St Arnaud and up the Wairau, this was one of 139 smilies for me for the day signed as KMTG. Cheers.
In Richmond on a wee family holiday. Headed out for the day with KiwiMoose on a caching mission through St Arnaud and up the Waiau Valley- to save on the possibility of RSI we signed logs as KMTG.
A long fun day. 150 caches total. Pulled up and then spied the curse....nnnooooooooo...but then we happily made the quick find and sign. Cheers.

Weekend away with MuzzaL53, heading to Lake Rotoiti, phones in hand, personalised manual for the weekend, and collecting caches as we go.
Thought this one was going to be more difficult but turned out to be a quick find.

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.
This was it - one of the caches on our big day
Consec caching day # 702

For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
Today was to be our biggest day. S planned the route to cover the most possible easy to get P&G’s but we ended up not limiting ourselves to only those. D2.5? Why not? Let the brain have a bit of fun! D3? I am sure we can get there quickly!
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!
Come and join us the next New Zealand geocaching MEGA event!! Register your interest now at www.nzmega2015.com to receive newsletter updates and be the first to know. It will be a great event, come and be a part of it!!

Should have guessed the hide from the cache name. I will admit to having had one cache hidden in this manner (now archived due to road widening) - it was the size of a cardboard box so was a very easy find. This was an easy find too, as StreetWalker had already found it by the time I walked to GZ from the car. TFTC.
#8150. I was pleased the container was not camo'ed, as it stood out nicely. No cursing was required. TFTC.
Yes, thought it would be this! Definitely not a fan. Thankfully the cache was an easy find after negotiating some spider webs. TFTC!
Easy find - once I decided to use my GPS and not make assumptions!! Took time out to enjoy the river. Cheers BW
12831... No curses uttered today, straight forward find. Wish all flax bush hides were this easy. Many thanks.
You've gotta be kidding ... Nope you weren't ... A quick find in a freezing cold southerly coming straight off the snow!! TFTC
[blue]Day 4 of our 31 Days of Caching Challenge.[/blue] 15/40 for the day. We found the cache very quickly in the first place we looked. We only dont like flax if it is wet. We took advantage of the open area off the road and picked this spot to have our lunch. We had to eat it inside the car due to the sandflies trying to eat their lunch aswell. Thanks for the cache
A weekend trip to Lake Rotoiti and time for a few caches along the way. The sun was shining and the caching gods were happy. Find number 7. Not too badly cursed on this one given all the opportunities to be misled. TFTC
Found with Team RJay on a caching trip to Lake Rotoiti, on a perfect Nelson day for caching, or pretty much anything else.. even getting spiked or bitten by a spider, neither of which happened
Slight detour on our way to Blenheim looking for caches and some sunshine. Finally we have found both blue sky above while we sign the log TFTC.

Is that so bad? We think bad hints on caches in the middle of nowhereness is closer to the cachers curse. Thanks for a quick and easy find. TFTC

Oh, THAT cachers' curse. Of course. Did't cause too many problems today, though I must admit to having sometimes avoided this type of hide in the past. Thanks for the smilies !!!
Oh yes, how we hate some hunting scenarios. Especially if it is raining! A quick find today though and the lucky last on our way home after a great afternoon caching at Lake Rotoiti. TFTC
A quick stop on the way south and mopping up a few caches that have missed our attention on other trips through here. No groans or curses, just a smiley for our effort. TFTC.
Along the way to pick up the grandson at St Arnaud there were still a few caches that missed out on our personal attention. With a name like this cache we feared the worst. A slightly wrong approach brought a murmur of discontent then the famous words sounded. Left TB. Picked up TB. TFTC
Found at 7:21 AM GAFF5 in the company of Phetlern. So many questions regarding this cache. Why is the size not chosen? It's a small isn't it? Got out thinking that it was going to be into the gorse so got the gloves out, but didn't need them. A bit of a relief actually that it wasn't difficult.
Thanks bumandworker

Two weeks of traveling in the South Island in company with Pprass has shown us the wonderful natural side of New Zealand. The geo-witch had lifted the curse today and the cache was very quickly in hand.
NOTE TO CO: Your Cache Notes indicate a cache size as "Not Chosen". The cache size is in fact "Small".
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt bumandworker.

Not too badly cursed here today and soon had the cache found. A really fun day finding caches and excellent weather. SL TFTC
I didn't listen to the GPS and headed off in the wrong direction assuming where the cache would be. All ok though and a quick find in that normally cursed place. TFTC #3052
Nice quick hunt. Saw a bright orange wasp land on my bonnet - briefly. Cheers Gav [10366]
Stopped here a few times without a GPS but had no luck. Much easier to find with my GPS in hand. TFTC.
Found quickly on a brief stop while driving from St Arnaud to Nelson. Thanks to considerate placement it was a much cleaner find than I expected when I saw the site. Signed log, TFTC!
A great drive about today after being caged up at work for the festive season. A quick Park and Grab was nice to help our new years caching off with TFTC

Nice One!!!!!!!!Great spot to stop, stretch and have a bit of a break on the way to the Lake for the day. No curse for Gran'dad, let the Grandkids retrieve the cache. Much fun. Thanks
Mrs SoBad knew what to expect at GZ. D 2.5, this sort of hide - but a park and grab. Hmm. Which were correct? Found it Thanks.
Not from Auckland are you? Fortunately, the wind had dried the curse out by the time I got here.
With a name like that it couldn't realy be anything else could it, although this turned out to be a fairly mild curse. TFTC - 40 of 75.
Very happy that we didn't get too suffer too badly from the curse, quick grab, sign, and retreat to the warmth of the car. TFTC
Heading home from a long weekend on the wet coast, we decided to take an alternate route home and gather a few of the new caches along the way. Having placed one or two caches in this style I was relieved to find the cache nice and quick. Must have a crure for the curse TFTC, Biggles.
