Due to the Westgate entrance to HMAS Cerberus now being the main entrance to the base and the increased security threat level on all military bases, there was an incident when a geocacher was caught within the base perimeter looking for the "welcome to HMAS Cerberus" cache. This cache has to be archived ASAP.

A quick easy find on a wet rainy night. We thought it would be concern free but there was a Muggle out running in the dark so we had to wait for a short time. Lucky he was running fast and we could soon pick up the cache quickly without any other interruptions. TFTC

Found this cache as part of a caching adventure down the Mornington Peninsula where I was trying to find at least 50 caches in 1 day at least 1km apart. I only managed 30 caches but had a brilliant day so all was good. Found this one today - it was nice to find something different here. The gate was open today as there is apparently construction nearby but I didn't see anything today. Signed log but no swaps today

Thanks for the cache -Lisette-.

Thanks to all the COs for the placement of the caches.

A quick stop and grab.

We had planned to come down the eastern side of the Mornington Peninsula today to look for caches in the Jack Speak series. However, we could not ignore other caches along the way. There were no muggles in the vicinity of GZ when we arrived. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and it’s contents were in good condition. TFTC walenators

Cycled past here this morning We were on our way to climb Arthur's Seat and no one else was willing to stop.
So after a reviving lunch back in Somers I set out to find a few local caches, one of which was this one.
On arrival the cache was completely exposed. I popped it back under cover, hopefully in the way it was meant to be.
Interesting history and info.
Thanks and cheers!

An impromptu caching run was had by Kay and Tee after a morning at Casey Fields watching Cee playing cricket. We headed across to Carrum Downs before venturing south to pick up a few DNF's from previous runs and a few new caches. We ended up down at Somers on this marvelous day before heading home via Mornington for a dinner then home. 5.5 hours and 21 caches!! not a bad effort we say.

Almost the easiest of the day we parked, walked to GZ and discovered cache. Log signed then replaced. TFTC

Today I was given another opportunity to go caching for a day. Well it was only about 8hrs but that's close enough to a day Wink. I had to choose an area rich of caches to catch up to my nemesis gmj3191 in one day. After some considerable consideration, I chose to come back down to the Eastern side of the Peninsula with half of a power trail still to complete and a bucket load of other caches, it was perfect! The weather started off nice and got cloudy and before we knew it, it was pissin down with rain. We didn't find too many during the rainy period but it didn't matter. It was a fun day finding about 32 caches in 6hrs and finally completing the Jack Speak series. This was the 14th for the day.

After a mini drought of caches, this was a nice easy find to make up for it. I got out of the GPS and immediately thought I knew where it would be hidden. Then my GPS pointed to a differenct spot so off I went. Nah, this can't be right. Back to my original thought. Ah, there's the cache Smile. I wish I could have been here for the event last year which would have also been an open day to the Cerberus however I just didn't have the time. Thanks for bringing me here walenators! Big Grin

One of 22 found on a night caching run with Danozz in the eastern suburbs and the Mornington Peninsula / Westernport area. The usual suspects of the TDC (The Demolition Crew) being Marty - Quasar3671 and Adrian - Trailrunning were in absence tonight, due to other commitments except for one find, a FTF on Lying Synonym as we had planned to meet up at that one.

After our FTF success at Lying Synonym, the others had to part company and head off to other commitments, so it was time for Danozz and I to engage on a night run in the area, being an area that neither of us get to very much.

Another nice quick muggle free find in the wee hours of the morning. TFTC.

Together with Liz and Bruce, we had a day on the ‘other’ side of the bay. A number of these very welcome caches popped into range as we endeavoured to conquer the Jack Speak series in one day. A great way to acknowledge the towns and localities of the Peninsula.

Not having visited the Mornington Peninsula before we were excited when Phetlern suggested a caching day in this locality. We made an early start and caught the 7am ferry and booked our return on the 7pm ferry. If little is achieved without enthusiasm - we were not going to fall into that category. We had our list organized (most of them walenators caches) and came prepared to do as many of the Welcome to and Jack Speak caches as we could. The weather was not too kind but again enthusiasm did not wane and we ventured into the rain. Luckily several of the caches were under trees. The afternoon saw the sun shining down on our activities. What a beautiful area this is to cache in. Thanks walenators

Find # 1534

Another fine Autumn morning and time for a traditional caching run with my caching partner in crime sedgwickDave. The plan was to head towards Hastings grabbing some caches on the way. I had just taken possession of a new Garmin Montana 650T gpsr and was very keen to test it out.

Last time we were in the area, we were forced to skip this cache due to the HMAS Cerberus Open Day and a high muggle count. Today, no such problems, not a soul about, only had to contend with one passing car. A nice hide in a traditional caching spot.

Thanks to walenators for the cache. TNLN.

Found @1705 #1295
Today was on another epic cache run with best mate ahomburg with our intention to clear out the remaining unfound caches in the Hastings and surrounding areas. This run resulted in 33 finds and 3 DNFs for me a new record for number of finds for " a non-power trail" run in a single day.

Another "Welcome to..." of the series completed and a nice drive-by. The find was made by ahomburg in the end. Had driven pass this one after attending an event last year but has it was the open day it was just not possible due to muggles activity at the gate. Glad to have this one off the list.

TFTC walenators, another of yours found today.

This morning G&MMelb headed off on a bike ride to collect the rest of the Jack Speak caches and a couple of extras as an added bonus and the plan was for JMelb to meet them at Lornas Triangle Reserve to do the caches there. JMelb got ready to leave after about half an hour or so and then realised she couldnt find her car keys. Much hunting and phone calls to G&M determined the only place they could be was IN the car or they were completely lost.... well as it turned out luckily they had fallen out of her bag in the car but it meant she missed out on the fun of these caches
G&M enjoyed the ride and the opportunities to stop!! lol The bikes were from the holiday house and M's bike didnt have many gears which meant he had to pedal almost twice as much as G and was very tired afterwards but they both enjoyed it all the same
GMelb works for the Department of Defence and if he had his pass would be able to go in there. He hasnt visited this base before but has been to HMAS Harmon for work.
On the homeward stretch now this was the last cache for the ride and then home to open the car to get Jmelbs keys so we could get some rolls etc for lunch lol.

This was the 9th cache of 38 today. Mr Crackers was busy working so Mrs Crackers joined Mr Coffee and the Coffee Clan for a day caching on the Peninsula mainly with the intention of doing the Jack Speak series which we had solved not long after it was published but hadn't had an opportunity to visit until today. We managed to find 15 other caches as well so all in all a good day. We had no hope of looking for this cache the last time we were here on open day with the stream of traffic but today with not a car in sight the cache was a nice quick grab
My thanks to walenators for the cache.

07-Jan-12
Out today with Team Crackers to see if we could break our record of 48 caches in one day. There wasnt a sole to be seen today a complete difference to when we were here after Mrs Walenators Birthday Event

We found this cache today at 6:10pm as the 45th of 59 in company of Alansee on our Peninsula Plunder. Now that - is a cache of little resistance. Thanks from D B-A.

A quick stop off on the way home from Christmas lunch. TFTC Smile

Found by Mary & David, in company with pprass and robmc, at 1530. Tried to do this one on the day of Mrs Walenators' Birthday Event, but the Base Open day was on too, and the gate was open and guarded. No hope of being unobtrusive then. No such trouble today, so a quick find resulted. Our thanks, walenators!

Found at 3:32:42 PM GAFF1. A quick stop on the way to the final of Jack Speak and the cache was also quickly located. Been to the actual original HMAS Cerberus many times - used to fish off there nearly every weekend.
