Day off work and Mrs Rubbishparty visiting for a few days so off to Queen Charlotte Drive for some caching. This was a quick park and drive as it started raining! Thanks for the smiley
After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. Had to wait for a nearby muggle to move on before locating the cache and adding our ink to the log. Watched a few logging trucks roar past, too. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA
We really liked this spot on the drive over to Picton. Very interesting history. Spotted the cache after a short search. Its a resus. Have an FP TFTC

Quick find on the way by during our TA thru-hike. Cool bit of history here!
Very hard to believe this was a port, especially when sitting here with the tide out looking at mikes of mud!! First cache today. TFTC
I lovely historic start to the day. I do like these spots in New Zealand where a plaque tell you about the relatively recent history. Amazing so much in so little time.
#1065. Today is day 85 of walking the Te Araroa trail and this is the 63rd cache I found along the way. I was walking along here and it seemed like a good place to stop for a break, and so I checked to see if there was a cache. Sure enough there was! It was in the third place I looked.
Thanks for the cache! [Here's a link to my Te Araroa blog entry for today](http://teararoa.g2.co.nz/2019/12/21/day-85-portage-to-havelock/) if anyone is interested!

Quick find here with no clue or page description. There was another punter parked up here at the far end but I could safely stay out of view. Cache all good. TFTC Bum.
A quick trip round QC drive after my first plan for a few caches tonight was scuppered a bit due to some cache maintenance. So, an impromptu trip here and it was a nice night for it. But as I was unprepared a few caches were found with no hint access. No problems tonight. Thanks all COs.

All good. Guy was dumping rocks on the other side of the road.a bit apt I guess.
On our trip to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji we visited a lot of beautiful places and experienced a lot. We also found a lot of caches, also this one.

Quick and easy find. Someone couldn't follow instructions and had put the bottle inside the cover, which has filled up with rain. The blue bottle was floating and partly filled with water. All set now. Thanks for the cache B&W.
On a geocaching adventure around the country with myself, my car and my tent. Drove almost 4000km and collected 170 caches over a week of roadtripping, camping and seeing the beautiful sights of New Zealand. Lots of fun and so many great caches were found, as well as a lot of DNF's. Apologies for copy paste post. Thank you to all cache owners. Day three driving from Momorangi bay to Greymouth. Thank you for the cache
A really great place. Quick find, the Camper were looking at the water the scenic place.

Ok I am not a fan of this road. Mommy found the cache. Stabigail[the travel bug] looked nice in the view. TFTC
It had been a long day and spacenarwhale wasn't sure she felt like going out to find a geocache at 8pm. However, being reminded that that would stop her current streak at 2 days gave her the impetus she needed to get up and find this cache. Thank you so much for bringing us to this lovely spot. This isn't the kind of road I enjoy, so I likely wouldn't have travelled it otherwise! The cache was a simple SP(Q for quails!)R find and we were hoping we could drop a travel bug, but the container's opening was just a little bit too narrow.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Found during hiking 3000 km long Te Araroa trail, which begining in Cape Reinga and ending in Bluff. Thank you!
After a day of awful luck finding caches we stopped at this nice little picnic spot for lunch. Beautiful view, and quick find with the hint. TFTC!
A quick and easy find. Cheers
We are on our way back south now, with a wee detour to Nelson. Signed the log as Ms+Mr KR.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

It was funny watching GolmarKlonk retrieving the cache - but in the end he managed and we signed the logbook. Interesting stopover place with some historical facts hard to imagine in the now remote spot.
Very interesting location. We were here at low tide. After reading the plaque we searched a bit and finally I could find the cache. But I had some problems at gz, what had to be a funny Show for B!ber ^^"
Thanks for the cache!
Greetings from Germany, GolmarKlonk

I had an opportunity to go to the South Island and take a week off work and do some caching while Mrs Yeetrees had to go to the ANZEG Conference 2018 which was being held in Nelson.
Today was day 1. Picton to Nelson, Having travelled The Queen Charlotte Drive which links Picton and Havelock a few times now we were glad that we took it as the traffic on this road today was very low as it was off peak and we didnt have any issues with silly tourist. The only issue that we did encounter was major road slips but they were well signed posted.
After finding GC2CCNJ - Entry to the Sounds (Gateway Cache #1)(Nelson/Mrlb), this was the next cache that we decided that we would pick up on our journey towards Nelson. Arriving near the given GZ, Mrs Yeetrees decided to park close to GZ and from there it was just a matter of going to the published co-ordinates and try to find the cache.
After reading the hint it only took a few seconds to spot the hint item and once the muggles had departed I managed to have a closer look and under closer investigation and I soon found the well hidden cache.
Managed to retrieve it without any issues, signed and then replaced it back as found. Thanks bumandworker for placing this cache here along this scenic drive, TFTC TNLNSL (13573).

Quick find. Picked up TB, wasn't going to but saw that it was an elephant so just had to take it to move it on. I collect elephants but I won't keep this one Thanks for the cache
This cache was a very easy find and the story of the ballast made for interesting reading too. All was done to keep the log book in order and we enjoyed the stop here, even though it was only a short one. Many thanks to bumandworker for this placement and greetings from some Aussie cachers who are enjoying travelling around New Zealand.
On our way from Nelson to Blenheim via the Queen Charlotte Dr. Along the way we are stopping for a few caches and to see the sights. We have enjoyed our stay in this part of New Zealand, and meeting a great group of cachers along the way. TFTC
I found this fun cache as we traveled from Nelson, through Picton, and on to Blenheim with VikingNav today. We had a great time exploring the area, and finding caches along the way. Log was signed. Thank you for placing this here for us to seek! >^..^
Log is "rite in rain" paper....quick dry to sign. Shame the container is not shut properly
Another quick stop whilst taking the scenic (steeper) route to Picton. Tide must have been in, as we couldn't spot any ballast
We found the cache with no problem but it was full of water and the log was soaked. I wrote on our initials but it does need some TLC from the owner.
Greetings from Australia, we managed to stop for this one as we continued our tour around NZ, log retrieved, signed and replaced as found, thanks for the cache and the fun
This geocacher reported that the container is damaged. Find date was 25 Apr. Seems this new interface doesn't allow the date to change on a note.
A quick find with TregearP as we stopped here on our way to Mautapu Bay where I spent many years holidaying some years previous.
Its really interesting to see how this area has changed since the mid 70's when I started visiting regularly.
The cache has a cracked top so some ingress of water. Dried out as best able, added a new internal plastic bag and then a second around the outer to try and protect as best able - will log a maint request separately.

Went straight to it. Log and box soaked. Dried box and replaced log. Greetings from the UK. TFTC #7194
Our journey takes us to Wellington today. And on the way we could find a few caches.

Over here from Riwaka today to have a look at the sounds and pick up a few caches along the way. There was a couple reading on the nearby bench but they were engrossed so we had a quick grab and left. TFTC.

We got off the ferry in the early afternoon and followed the scenic road along the coast in direction of Nelson. Finally we didn't go very far because we stopped all the time for caches. Even a good park and grab takes a couple of minutes to log and to put back. Anyway, we enjoyed the stunning views until the light drizzle became a heavy rain, and we started to look for a campsite. Thanks to the owners for all these nice caches!
Very interesting - we love learning about this sort of history tftc Left a TB as there is nice easy parking and it is a spot worth stopping at (especially at low tide)
