groovydoo I found your cache Karangi Dam on 2/10/2024, 8:35am. This is my find 7086 and find # 1 today. A quick and easy drive by with the help of the hint. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Hi groovydoo,The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention, or it may not but in the absence of the cache owner performing maintenance and/or disabling the cache to check it out, I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 4 weeks) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.If you require more time please be sure to **post a note** (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require. For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 4 weeks to keep everyone up to date, if you do not then you cache may be archived without further note from a reviewer. Caches archived due to lack of maintenance are no longer unarchived and you will need to submit a replacement as a new cache.Ngaambul - Matt
With the opening times I will have to do a two hour return trip to check this cache. I. Am aware that it has a few Did Not Finds and will check when can!!!!
No luck here today, checked all obvious spots thinking its magnetic, but nothing. Maybe next time
Unfortunately we couldn't attempt this one today, the closing time on weekends is now 10am.
Well I certainly made a better &faster find of this cache with 5 more caching years under my belt. Tftc
After many attempts over a number of years i gave in and asked co good to know still there this has been the trickiest one for me j must have been over cofident to a point where i was first off veing cocky fav point given cause of how tricky i found this and how often i have looked before i secummbed to asking co

was driving past on the orara way today and decided to make a pit stop by this one. thanks
Thanks for bringing us groovydoo, A muggle turned up just as we arrived but worked out for the best as the GPS was a bit unsettled. By the time they left GPS was pointing straight at the cache TFTC
Today we are back out on the trail of more caches in the Coffs area this time more inland.
After a magnificent winters day yesterday we are experiencing no less today.
This was a great pLace to stop and having morning tea, so of course we did!
Wouldn't have known about this place without caching, so thank you for bringing us here.
A quick find.

TFTC, once I saw who the C.O was I had an idea what to look for and a quick find was had, great spot and view, have a F.P.
Lovely spot for a picnic, saw lots of lizards running around. Had a bit of luck as it was the first place I looked. TFTC groovydoo
A quick park and grab on a glorious sunny day. Great views of the dam. TNLN SL TFTC
Nice up here. Finally got here before the gates were shut. The dam seems quite full. Quick find and no muggles in sight. TFTC.
Needed 3 looks till I found it. The dam is awesome. For the location and my 1500th cache a FP.
Thanks for the cache

Now that's annoying - we just so happened to check out Karangi Dam this morning, but didn't realise there was a cache here until later today! . I had quickly checked the webpage map before we left to see if there was anything on our intended route. I was a bit perplexed because I thought in the past I'd seen one at Karangi, but there was nothing showing at all. I now realise that for some reason the map view was only showing caches within a smaller radius of home... Wont make that mistake again! Another trip up Karangi way is now in order!
[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.

This is a wow factor. I knew a dam was up this way but never been here even living at glenridge about 10 years ago. Thanks groov thanks for brining us here. Tftc log full.
Quick find with batdos after work on the way back from scoping out a new cache location. Missed it last time I was here as there were muggles at gz. Thabks for the cache groovydoo.
Thanks for the great hide, went up late so had to walk, nice quiet spot for a little hike after 3:30

We decided on Karangi Dam for our lunch stop and were surprised we were the only ones here, but then not being recreational would explain it. That NO SWIMMING sign must test out some of the neighbours in the middle of summer. TFTC groovydoo.
Second cache for the morning and both great places by water, very enjoyable, wish all your caches were this easy groovy.TFTC.
After the last log entry i checked today and all is good. Maybe more experience is needed.
GPS is playing tricks on us. Can't wait till our new one comes
COULD OWNER PLEASE MAKE SURE ITS THERE AS IT HASNT BEEN FOUND IN A WHILE AND SOMEONE COULD HAVE TAKEN IT
we will try again another day

Successful find today Logged a DNF four days ago on our second ever day of geocaching, and this is kind of a tough one for a newbie, especially with the GPS skipping around. But we've notched up thirty local geocaches since then, so we had a better idea of what to look for this time.
A very happy find FTF in 2014. SL. Thanks groovydoo.

Didn't find this one despite foraging around for 1.5 hours (!) Beautiful spot though, and it was kind of fun having to actually work for it As some previous cachers have noted, GPS had us going here! there! no, over there! So that didn't help - we didn't know where to concentrate our efforts. Sometimes the GPS was even pointing down the bank towards the water. We didn't really think it would be there (as the terrain difficulty is only indicated as 1.5 out of 5) but we checked anyway. Found a small concrete tunnel, which seemed promising for about 5 seconds (!) but nope, nothing noteworthy there.
Looking thoroughly through previous posts, it seems that there is kind of a trick to this one... Kids have found it easily, while others have laboured away without success
We are determined to come back again soon and find this one.

Looked for about half an hour with the kids, back for another look next weekend
Our first ever find. Probably should have chosen a bigger cache but we had fun. YEAH.
Very quick find. Had hardly got out of the car when geo friend and geo hubby were there with the cache in their hands Previously logs helped with quick find. TCTTF
Out with geofriends, for our personal find a cache a day challenge. day #110 for us. A quick find for geohubby. Previous logs helped. TFTC. Lovely views, lovely area.
Early this morning and I was passing by and noticed the gates were already open
Off up the hill I drove and found a delightful spot to relax and take in the soothing water views [^]
I started at the big information sign for a while and soaked up the engineering infromation.
All that was left to do was find the cache
The back of the sign seemed a likely spot, so I looked.
Then I checked the GPS and wandered off to another likely hiding spot.
Like many before me, I couldn't find a cache [:o]
I stood back a bit and thought about the problem some more.
When you have found a few caches in places like this, there seems to be and expectation that any cache hide in a place like this will be done in a couple of 'standard' ways
Well this one is not !! [^]
Which could explain the many DNF's
I eventually found the cache by persisting in my searching even after the usual methods had produced nothing
TFTC !! and views !! and trickiness

Not a good start to the day. Bernyb has found this one before but no luck today.
I'm sure I found the spot the cache is supposed to be, but it aint there.
Might need to check this one groovydoo.
Cheers

well no luck for me today on this one, after waiting out the council workers having lunch the gps had me looking all over the shop to no avail. I think I needed a team effort today, guess i'll just have to come back some other holiday. cheers for highlighting a nice spot for lunch.
Find # 1914 @ 1430 Hrs...
Found whilst staying with friends in Coffs Harbour...
Owing to the time, there were no muggles... Enjoyed the area & made the sneaky find... Managed a couple of pictures too...
Thanks to groovydoo for the cache & for bringing me here...

Filling in my calendar for April and needed a find today. This was the first of about 10 I managed. Nice view after a quick find. Sneaky hide.
Another great hidden location. No one here today so made for an easy hunt. Geo daughter missed it completely so I went in for another look and spotted it.

nice and easy to find ONCE you find it. GPS had us going around in circles. Lol. Good way to spend some time with the kids. Tftc.
Nice view, luckily I accidentally dislodged it while searching for the usual in the usual, TFTC groovydoo!!
Been here before, my GPS doesn't work too well here. Had to pace it out from under clear sky.
Found this one today with the help of my grand kids.
Pity there is no fishing or swimming in the dam but it does look fantastic.

This cache was our find for International Geocaching Day. This cache has been on my to do list for a while but it is amazing how a bit of digital art will motivate us to get out on the hunt.
There were no dramas locating the dam or the cache. We had the place entirely to ourselves. It is quite picturesque and well worth the visit. Thanks for bringing us here.

Found this a couple of months ago on a visit to nearby friends. About to visit them again and relaised we had never logged the finds from our last visit.
I found it!!! First of our cachepedition (2nd cachepedition for the week) Love these ones. In the company of iLocate and The Pheebster
1st one that we found today on our cachepedition up and around coramba and Nana Glen way. TFTC. Love these ones. In company of Rusty Dutchman (who found it) and iLocate.
Found it! Tricky one to find, GPS took us in circles. Found cache finally as another car pulled up so we went back to the car for a drink to sign cache and to wait for them to leave. Cache replaced and we're off to find another. TFTC.

Left Coffs early & we planned tp have breakfast at the dam. Missed the turn off to the dam so back tracked to there. The sign to the dam is small, but the turn off is opposite the Karangi General Store.
The very friendly guy who works for the water works said new signs will be going up in the area & he will mention about needing bigger signs at the main intersection
Had no trouble finding this cache, thankyou for taking us to an area we would never had gone to.

Driving up to Coramba and so decided to pop in here for a look. Beautiful artificial lake. Took awhile to find it but then as I was about to give up I suddenly spied it. TFTC
By the way, the last log says that there is no sign at the Coramba Rd. But there is, thats how I knew we got the right turnoff.

Found at 9.20am GAFF1. A beautiful still morning with lovely reflections. We initially were directed to the large object, but after a while we broadened our search and found the cache in a more obscure spot. Interesting that there was no sign from Coramba Rd saying the there was a dam here.
Thanks groovydoo.
Thanks groovydoo.
A successful return visit with robbieracer66 and cullum68...still a tricky find with three of us looking....TFTC Groovydoo!
First "not to find" hmmm, i searched extensively, bearing in mind that "groovydoo" caches are varied and unusual so you have to think outside the box..still unsuccessful..will return
Really don't know how we missed this one first time round. Friday 13th luck had this one found after an extensive search. Love the tricky hide.

Found under an increasingly threatening sky on the way to Coffs for some Grand Final supplies. Ive worked at a few other dam sites further north which are now linked to Karangi but I had never been here before. Many Thanks groovydoo.
Have been out past the dam a few times recently but today finally remembered to have my GPS with me-unfortunately though only had one geokid with me. Was a challenge getting the log out but eventually succeeded. TNLN. TFTC.
Found on the way to Glenreagh for a scout camp. Co-ords were spot on! Parked right next to it. The gates close at 3:30 now. A great hide at a top spot thanks Groovydoo.
Wow! We drove for 4 1/2 hours hoping to get the FTF on this new Geocache. Our hearts were in our mouths opening the log to see if it was signed already. YEAH! It wasn't. So we made first to find at this great location. Thanks for placing a cache here Groovydoo. Bet it's a great picnic spot on a nice day. We walked in from the locked gate in the rain today. Not surprisingly all was quiet.
