We are in Hanmer with two of our grandsons for the long weekend (Nelson Anniversary). They have just got new bikes for Christmas and were keen to do some mountain biking. We started with the easy rider so that we could suss out how good they were at changing gears etc on their bikes before heading across the road to do something a little more adventurous.
The pump track was fun, we stopped and spent a bit of time there.
On the way back to the campervan we took a wee detour to come and find this one. My phone was a bit slow under the trees and we had gone an extra 50 meters before I realised we had gone past it.
So we backtracked and immediately saw the uncovered cache lying in the open. We removed the lolly from in the cache as we have come across caches in the past where the lolly has melted and everything was covered in a thick sugary mess. Apart from the attraction of rodents having something sweet in there. We realise the newby people before us probably thought that they were being kind, but in our experience in the long run lollies are not a nice swag to find.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Walking from HS to the forest camp we stopped to do the multi and grab this one on the way. A reasonably quick find for Mr EMC. TFTC. The chikins from Brisbane.
Today was our rest day so I was grateful for a nice easy cache to find. Beautiful forest.
So weird - just logged as a DNF - walked 100m back towards the main road - and saw it sitting in the open! Have relocated it back to the correct spot! Tftc
Gutted!
Walked into the forest only to find the GZ, including the hint item, contained no cache!
Looks like it has been stolen.
Took a picture of the hint item to prove visit - but a DNF for us.

Great ride through the forest, was really muddy today after all the rain which made even more fun! Was also very quiet not many people around at all. TFTC
While doing the nearby multi Carve it up, which followed a loop track on the west side of Herdmans Rd, we found ourselves 160m from this cache, and nekminit spotted a side track going in the right direction. Thinking to save ourselves some walking, we followed it until it reached an unnamed track about 50m from GZ. Unfortunately, this track went north/south and not in the direction we wanted to go in. Bush bashing was out of the question, so we returned to our multi, and after completing that, walked back to Jollies Pass Rd, and then found the start of Alligator Alley.
It didn't take long to get to GZ, where the cache was a quick find. Good to find a K-E cache in this neck of the woods, though it has taken us nearly 11 years after its placement to make it here. Grabbed the TB. TFTC.

#21415. Enjoyed the walk to GZ and made a quick find. I headed off to get back to the car and bring it down the road a bit, and Troodles followed behind (she had a chat with a local muggle with a couple of doggles). TFTC.
Time to do another cache on the bike tracks - at least this trail we are allowed to bike along ( we think). Anyway, neither device enjoyed the tree cover and we over shot the GZ by quite a lot. Made our way backwards and soon spotted the hint item, luckily as devices still weren't playing ball, and cache retrieved. Dropped off a laminated TB to carry on travelling. tftc
The GPS had me looking on the other side of the track then I spotted the obvious hide as I put the gps down to pick up the container it suddenly decided to agree and went down to 0. Thanks for placing Kiwi_Explorer

It first to find but definitely first to sign the new log. Everything is in order and a nice bush walk on a beautiful Hanmer day. TFTC
This afternoon we decided on a short bike ride. Grabbed it on the way past. GPS was bouncing all over the place but a nice quick find. TFTC
Staying in Hanmer Springs this walk was on our must do list. We found ourselves taking the long way to get to this one but we really enjoyed the walk through this forest. The lid is broken dry on the cache container. The waterproof paper was wet so we dried it off as best we could to dig out names. TFTC
Not sure I made the optimal route choice, but I got there and back. Log was soaked, so I added in some waterproof paper I had with me to keep it going, but the container is cracked and needs replacing. TFTC

A good start of the day with this beautiful walk. We are warming up to climb Mt. Isobel after finding few caches around here. Had no trouble in finding this one. TFTC.

Enjoyed a couple of hours bike ride today while staying at Hanmer while on our July tour of the South Island. Thanks Kiwi Explorer for the cache. Quick find for me today.
A few detours getting to GZ. Tried a few hint items before getting the right one. Pleased it was placed back and I was on my way. Thank you for the placement.
Came back later with others to view the wooden statues.

Very quick find in the forest today. Hubby was out doing the Old Hanmer 100 Miler, so I explored the forest. Had no pen, but did take a photo of the cache.
Easy find once I got on the correct track, cache has a broken lid, log is slightly damp,
GPS had me on the wrong side of the track! Soon found after switching it off...TFTC
Great location, TFTC, sorry for late logging just playing catch up with last year's caching
Another beautiful walk through beautiful woodland. It was a rainy day to start but dried up and so we were able to go out and enjoy a walk in the woods. Glad to get to see these beautiful places.
Main container lid cracked but log is dry in separate pot inside. TFTC

After our exertions of the morning e-biking the Jollies Pass - Jacks Pass loop, we decided to look for the remaining sculptures on the Forest Amble that we had not seen on our first foray. Returned via this track and soon had the container in hand, thanks to the very explicit hint. (My Garmin was pointing insistently to the other side of the track.)
TNLN. TFTC.

Quick n easy find - signed log and put back with a wee gem- A nice afternoon walk looking at the sculptures and came across your hidden treasure - Thank you - Regards Michael and Michelle (The Flying Brick, NZ) ️
Up fresh this morning and with some time in hand before I needed to leave Hamner to get to the St James trailhead, I had ample opportunity to take in some more caching.
Like the CO's hound, our dog Mellow would have loved it here but my weekend plans were not dog-friendly so she needed to remain at home.
A fair few freedom campers parked at the trailhead but it was too early for them to be worrying about me, so I arrived and set off without raising any eyebrows.
A quick trot down the track and I was soon at the GZ. Cached spotted; log signed; away again.
Thanks K_E

Out walking in the forest on a magical night, had a walk around wooden sculpture trail 1st with Juju54 - TFTC
Thank you for this cache, Kiwi_Explorer.
I was wandering around the foreset finding info for the Multi; this was one of a couple of caches that I found on my wanderings ! A lovely day in Hanmer.

TFTC. A bit late with my log. I must have missed this when catching up on logs at home. We signed 29th August and grabbed a TB(I am sure this is the cache I found it in). A nice bike ride through the forest.
Mountainbiking through here, enjoying the trails and collecting the occasional cache. Cache is all good. TFTC!
Took the scenic route to this one as I managed to be on the wrong track. Cache was a quick find on a warm afternoon.
I was initially on the wrong track and just thought my GPS was out, but quickly realised where I needed to be. TB picked up. TFTC!
Great day for cycling through the forest. Stopped my bike to check how far I was from GZ only to find I was right where I needed to be. Quickly signed the log before pedaling off again. TFTC
Another weekend and another road trip..this time its hamners turn.
Early start to the day with a walk through the forest doing the multi ...
Nearly missed going for this as I was focused elsewhere so slight detour for a quick find ..dropped off a tb tftc

Found it!!!!! On the way back from another. Nice easy find even with poor GPS accuracy.
Took a while to locate this one as GPS was jumpy, but a nice spot to be doing the cacher dance! TFTC!!
Our GPS was not very good. But after using the hint it was easy. TFTC. Going to enjoy lunch at Rustic Cafe.
# 1756 Undertaking a bit of a raid on the top half of the south island. The main intent is the geotour caches with the base of operations here in Hamner Springs. Undertook a bit of a clean up operation on easily accessible caches around here over the day off.
This was the fifth of the day and such an enjoyable adventure in a type of bush that I had never previously ventured through. So many types of conifers.
I was here collecting data for the nearby multi and the susequent backtrack to the final meant I could take the alligator route home and collect this one.
I ended up amongst the pines following my smartphone. Gave up and went to the other side of the track following my nose and there it was. Cheers Kiwi_Explorer for this one.

We're in Hanmer Springs for today, and my wife wanted to shop before a trip to the pools, so the lad and I hit the roads and trails for a quick cache decathlon before lunch. With only one DNF we managed 10 finds in some pretty nice areas.
This one was given away by a piece of swag on the ground next to the hide. Everything back in place now. TFTC!

We enjoyed the short forest walk to this one, stretching our legs after morning rain.
The hint was very helpful and it was quickly found. All good with the contents. TFTC.

Our first day of our South Island motorhoming holiday. We were pleased to see a cache nearby to our free camp base at Hanmer Forest. It was a lovely walk to gz and we also found many other beautiful walks nearby. We found this one with geo sense rather than the gps telling us we were close. Thanks for the lovely walk.
GPS sent us looking amongst all the pines in a 30 ft radius...turns out we had our bikes parked up next to the right tree the entire time, tftc!
The map was misleading but we found it without hesitating anyway, good cache - no trackable anymore
Last time we were here this one had disappeared...thanks for the quick replacement ...passing through today and a quick sprint to sign the log...all good this time thanks for the placement kiwi_explorer
We were sort of passing by heading to Christchurch so detoured to change the blue face to a yellow smiley. Thanks for cache.
