Great cache, thanks for the hide. Relatively easy find after an arduous climb up the Goat Track and a brief search. Dropped off Travel Bug "Hope".

Quick find before the Townsville 500 race starts. No mozzie here today... nearly even alive near sunset back in January
Out and about today exploring Townsville with Grannan55 and a muggle friend. What an amazing view, this place is stunning. Thank you for placing this cache here for me to find. All good here. Now, onto the next one for the day. TNLN TFTC
Yes He doesy.Didn't have a pen/pencil with me, but I've got a photo. Thanks for the cache!
Nice little walk with my son up and around the lookout so figured wed do some treasure hunting TFTC
We spent the previous 24 hours in Townsville and thought to find at least 1 cache before departing. Colour me impressed at how much effort has been put into the caches around town, I wish I could spend more time to really get stuck into them. We drove up to the Castle Hill lookout last night and were amazed at the number of lights that we decided to come back during the day. We made the trek back up, avoiding all of the walkers and runners, to see an even different, more amazing view. Despite driving up, this one was quite difficult with an upset stomach and having to climb the stairs. We made the quick find and noted a new log might be needed here soon. TFTC, this is a special place.
We are staying in Townsville until Sunday. It was nice to see around Townsville, though it was a little humid here. Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache opted-out user.

Departed Melbourne several weeks ago now and have been travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel.
Finally made the northern warmth and the Cape and we have loved every minute of it now we are on our way home again and having many more adventures as we slowly travel south.
This morning we are travelled from Innisfail to Townsville via Silkwood (to get our gas heater fixed), and grabbed a couple of geocaches along the way and this afternoon we trekked around Townsville to check out the lay of the land.
I was so amazed at what I found on top of this hill that I wandered and gazed and wandered and gazed and then though, maybe there is a cache up here and had to wander everywhere again to find them
Took a while to find this one, once I found the additional suggested coordinates I was right onto it.

One of 4 target caches up this way and good to get a car to get to the top and base from. Soon had myself at the noted coordinates and reached in/under for an easy find. Seems like an excitable muggle/finder has also found this one with a note found along with the true log. Cheers
After a fairly quiet morning at work I managed to snag a vehicle for the afternoon with others heading to the mall for retail therapy. Personally I had a couple of D/T sized assignments with another two towards my third trip around the grid (just one left after today). Headed to in and around Castle Hill for some field puzzles, battles through long grass, and general sweating and feeding the local insects some more of my blood. Also my ump-teenth consecutive day caching, won't last much longer but good whilst it does. Nice to get a couple of Large caches today to. As ever, thanks to all COs, my FP collection is rapidly diminishing!

Thanks for keeping that alive. Even though apparently a replacement for an earlier cache (which I would have loved to find), it has by itself already reached quite some age. And it is a nice spot up here. Tfth!
Apologies for the late log here (27.12.23) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.A man on the wrong side of the fence worried me a bit, but nothing bad happened there. The cache on the other hand... no, this was fine too, although it took me a little climbing to reach. Nicely tucked away. TNLN-TFTC! Magnificent views.SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
Day 14 of our NQ holiday & today we headed to Townsville to do the tourist thing (and of course find some caches in the process)
We have been here previously to find a cache many moons ago, but it was nice to return & have another one to find... Took a few minutes to locate the cache but could have been because of the stream of muggles passing by [^]

You can’t visit Townsville without coming up to the top.

What a great view it is up here. You have such a great view of the town. With the rain setting in fast we needed to be quick to find this. Quickly found this to then race down away from the rain and strong winds up the top.

I cheated and drove to the top of castle hill and then walked the final portion (because you can’t drive there haha) This very unfit geocacher was certainly puffing by the time she reached the top but success was had. A good sized cache was my reward TFTC

This one has a bit of a barricade around the whole area at the moment, but it looks like plenty of people are risking the handrail replacement work. Plenty of the handrails are down so it’s not advisable to bring the kids along.
That said, there aren’t many more iconic spots in Townsville. There aren’t too many photos of Townsville that don’t feature this pink monolith, so it stood to reason, that the views from Castle Hill would have been the first to cop the attention of a geocachers glare. Sadly Townsville’s First, like the Mt Stuart cache are no more, but it was nice to see history carried forward and the roots remembered.
A nicely stocked cache with a few trackables to log
Thanks I.C.P for the cache, the timely replacement and the occasional “Bam..FTF” logs. Good to see the I.C.P name being written again in the logs of Townsville caches.

I had to go for this one while in Townsville. I found the original in my first 50 or so cache finds back in 2003 and possibly the best bit of swag ever- an operation Iraqi freedom pin which I still have. So dodged the barriers to come up here for the view and a bit of nostalgia. Thanks for the cache.
My approach took me along a scramble track and there were no obstructions to the path. When trying to leave I had to pass barriers suggesting that the path to here is closed.
I had already left a Geocoin that has arrived from the UK, I am sure it will be safe here. TFTC

Eventually found even though coords were completely not close. Great views on a sunny bright day in Townsville
A rainy day in Townsville, but that’s not going to stop us today. Firstly we needed to finish off a lab series, then it was a few mountains to climb and a couple of caches around town. As this was our last day here in Townsville, it was basically cleaning up those caches we wanted and leaving no loose ends.
After the drive up and down Mt. Stuart it was back into town to grab a few on and around Castle Hill. I liked this one as it was down hill walking lol, some awesome views as we walked along. With the log signed and the cache replaced as found we were off to the next. Thanks for the placement here.
A rainy day for my last caching day in Townsville, chamad and I headed out to collect some more caches. Our targets were those around Mt Stuart, Castle Hill and Mt Louisa.
We again visited some great places with tremendous views and of course came across some outstanding caches.
What a great idea to keep this position active with a cache. I used the co-ords added to the cache page and quickly had the cache in hand.
Thanks insane.cache.posse for putting a cache here to keep the memory alive.

With great excitement we headed to Townville for the for the first FNQ Mega - we were very curious to see how much it had changed since we lived there pre-caching.
Today we headed up to the top of Cootharinga for the view and some caches. Hide wasn't where the sats had us today so Mr Morris needed a PAF.

Found with a group of Canberra cachers - SmittenGranny, Nibletricecakes, Minniek, Fitzy_1965, Luckyl10n & SoldeLun - on my last day in Townsville at the mega. Thanks for the entertainment.
Fun! It’s Mega time once again!! Woo hoo!! Love these epic road trips and a wonderful Mega event. Managed to cache with loads of different people throughout the long weekend - such a fun way to cache! Have signed as SCG, X, Snag, Capital crunchers, NRC, Nibletricecakes, Minifigas, Minifig or some combination of the above! Thanks to everyone in the region for the top quality caching. Appreciate your efforts planting and maintaining these caches.
During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.
Following our visit north of Rowes Bay which included Pallarenda, we decided to spend the rest of the morning heading up to Castle Hill, hoping to use the current moderate temperature before the heat and humidity would set in the afternoon (or on another day). After making a stop halfway up, we then parked at the summit's lookout, and then admired the views of Townsville.
We took a short walk to GZ where we were treated to some fantastic views. This cache took a while to find, and we eventually found the cache about 10-14 m from GZ. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as DWEG1 (Davidwazza and e.gregory1) to save space in the logbook. Thanks insane.cache.posse for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Day 10 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
The last true day of the Mega saw us heading to the CITO first then caching around the city before the Farewell Event at lunch. We arrived at the CITO around 8am to find the place deserted. Turns out all the trees had been planted and everyone has left. We came across a few other cachers and all picked up some rubbish together so we could say we made a contribution to the area. We toured around part of the Jezzine Brarracks before making our way to the event. Afterwards, we teamed up with some others to pick up some nice types and D/T’s before ending our day back to Castle Hill which was conveniently near our accommodation.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Thanks to all the CO’s.

Here it is the end of the month and I still haven't finished logging all my finds from the Mega and I am now up in Cairns with plenty more finds since Townsville so please excuse the generic logs that I am about to write.
On 17th April I was out caching with Albida33, GLISS! and Nibletricecakes hunting down a variety of caches from trads, to ALs to Fishing poles to kayaks to mysteries and multis. This is one of those caches that we found . All caches were found in good order unless otherwise stated. They were signed with individual initials or as NAGS or SNAG. Sometimes as SCG (Southern Caching Group as we all come from south of Townsville)
Thanks to all COs and the Committee for such wonderful caches that enticed us to travel from the ACT.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 10. Townsville Mega section Day 10. Mega Day 3. On the final day of the official mega period, the day started with Gliss!, Nibletricecakes, Smitten Granny & I headed over to the ROWES bay CITO where we managed to get one of the last plants and deploy it on the sand dune. Then it was off caching along the coastal stretch to the point with more World War 2 bunkers. This all took a bit longer than expected, but we eventually had a chance to do the walk around Jezzenine barracks before heading to Anderson Gardens for a tree climb and back to the mega site for the farewell event. Then there was a canoe trip and few more trees, A trip up Castle hill and a few puzzles before calling it a day.

27,790. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 10 of our Townsville Trek, and we were having a ball caching around Townsville ! Today was another big day. After the morning's CITO, we got stuck into finding more caches. A lot were pre-solved puzzles, a couple of interesting Earthcaches, and some fun / difficult Trads along the way. This one was another challenging cache found by the Canberra Region cachers. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one on our list.
Thanks icp !!

I travelled up from Adelaide, taking a week or so so get here, meeting up with FeatherWaite to do some caching around the Cunnamulla area then continuing on to Barcaldine and Charters Towers.
While in Townsville I teamed up with Budgietas, Stainless-steel-rat and Gooseandegg on some days, including a day on Magnetic Island, and with Davidwazza at other times. When caching with Davidwazza, logbooks were signed DWEG1.
All in all it was a great week or so in Townsville, with plenty of great caches found.

#14147; Day twelve of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Spent the morning collecting caches close to our accommodation then working our way towards the racecourse for the Farewell event. After the event we set off for more caches, including a couple of waterborne caches with the Southern Caching Group (SCG). Our main group for the afternoon comprised myself and Sdl, fitzy_1965, minniek, smittengranny, albida33, nibletricecackes and Gliss! with others in tow for the kayak caches. Logs were variously signed with initials, or SCG, depending on the numbers in attendance for the find. Nibletricecackes made the find on this one a few metres from where the GPSr was guiding me! One of several found on and around Castle Hill this afternoon. Apologies for the largely generic logs. TFTC insane.cache.posse

One final ascent before leaving the summit saw us following a few other cachers past the barrier and climbing upwards towards GZ. Now, from below we’d seen where people had been standing to sign the logbook, so we headed straight for that spot and met two others who’d just replaced it, making for a quick and easy find. Sat on the convenient flat spot to sign and admire the views before heading back to the car park and down the Hill. Day 4 of our Townsville Mega event weekend. We started tackling the caches and adlabs along the Strand with hevwalker. Then headed to Castle hill to do a few (Wow, its stunning up there!) before going to GZ to the pathtag swap and official closing ceremony. WooHoo we held our time in the escape room and snagged a prize for first place! After the event had closed, we said our goodbyes to old friends and new friends, headed back to the strand to find a few more and play on the scooters! We bumped into another SA geocacher at the top of Castle hill and proceeded to this one. After a short search we checked some of the logs and them widened our search area. Yep, found abot 12m away from GZ. TFTC
