Enjoying our trip through to Nelson. Definitely worth the drive up to see the art work.
What a surprising sight!
So pleased we decided on a detour here.
Good place to stop on our drive.

On a road trip with Supernannny and Net61 to Nelson exploring this part of the country. Detoured to check out this cool artwork and find the cache. Spotted the hiding place from a distance and soon uncovered the cache. We stopped to admire the lambs before returning to the car and heading back the way we came. TFTC
After a couple of swims by the bridge, we popped up here to grab a one we missed a couple of years ago. Easy find here.
What a fantastic feature!. Strangely, I somehow managed to load the results of a very old pocket query on to my GPSr before leaving on holiday. After not finding the cache, I checked my phone and quickly made the find using the correct coordinates.
After knocking off the Richmond ranges over the last 8 days it's time to get back to my truck at the start of the track...managed to hitch around (3 different rides ) but that's where my luck ran out and I have to walk the next 14km at least there's a few caches along the way..nice quick find tftc
A quick find as Tregearp and I were heading off to the Maungatapu Track. All in good order. Signed log and replaced as found. Thanks b&w for another cache.
Heading up to the Maungatapu track with SJT_NZ, a quick find in the first placed we looked. Thanks b&w.
It's a great day for some geo exploring, and the Pelorus Valley is a perfect place for it.
Nice quick find here, at a very impressive sculpture.

A nice quick find thanks. Gps was pointing a way away, but a fairly obvious find in the end.
Found as we cruised from Nelson to Picton. A nice day for cruising it was too.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Found on our TA thru-hike. This begins today's long road walk. Thankfully, there are a lot of caches along here to break things up.
What a fantastic piece of ar. I took photos - no doubt like every other geocacher who comes here. Favourite given for bringing us here -what Geocaching is all about.
The sixth day of our road trip and we are having lots of laughs, hunting hard and signing logs. Signed NE as I am caching with Nosynel. Thank you for the cache .

I loved the reason for your placement of this geocache. Thanks for sharing the large scale artwork. We stayed another night in Nelson. The plan is to womble our way across to Picton.
Ethness is in The Mainland and we are DoubleTrouble.
Thanks bumandworker for placing this geocache it is find 8285 for me.

A quick find here (yep, that is a decent sized rock) and Jo did the signing honours while I took photos. We were expecting to have to replace the log, but it was (a) dry, (b) RITR paper, so all good. This is quite a cool thing. TFTC and highlighting this B+W.
Jo and I both finished work early tonight (5 pm is early), so with a few hours daylight left we decided to get a few as far afield as Rai Valley.
So, we targeted Mt Barrett with a few backups on the trip home to get us to our goal of 5 minimum. A couple of DNFs meant we did draw on those. But it was a warm and pleasant evening and the short but sharp walk up Mt Barrett was good.

Well this was a pleasant surprise! Numerous photos were taken and then we were on our way. The logbook is soggy as and could do with a watertight cache container. Unfortunately I've used up all my spares so I couldn't help out. Thanks bumandworker.
Didnt expect to see this up here .very pleasant surprise and alot of effort has gone into it.No problem with the cache as all is quiet up the valley today.....Thanx4tc
spacenarwhale felt like a long drive to a cache today and wanted something in the Pelorus Bridge area. I am so glad this is the cache we chose because the whole team was together to discover this really cool artwork. Thank you so much for bringing us here and for the cache!
Delightful! Thanks for bringing us here. The logbook was wet so added another strip of waterproof paper. Thanks b&w.
I noticed this (bit hard not to) when I drove past a few months ago. Today we stopped and had a good look and found the cache. A favourite from us - certainly a lot of work has gone into creating it. Thanks bumandworker for giving us the reason to stop
Enjoying some caching in the local area, seeing new sights, and grabbing the odd history lesson as well. Enjoyed the artwork. TFTC
Was over in Nelson for the day and darted off the main road for a few minutes to grab this one.
Cool spot here... plenty of parking space.

This is one of those "Why? But why not!" features; certainly some time and attention has gone into this and well worth a stop.
My first find on my 'treat myself to a day's caching' day. Drizzling still, but hope springs eternal.
Thanks

Found the obvious rock but nothing underneath or in any other spot. I knew the CO was up this road only a few hours before me and thought it strange that it wasn't there. Gave up looking and was just driving off when I saw another rock, had a look and there it was 45 meters from where my gps was pointing. Strange, I now see the coordinates were updated 11 days ago and the data on my gps is only 3 days old but it hadn't updated. Doesn't matter, I found it so no DNF. Love the feature. Thanks B&W

Coordinates changed from:
S 41° 17.999 E 173° 33.499
Coordinates changed to:

Distance from original: 116.5 feet or 35.5 meters.
temp move while I sort a new container, cache site obviously compromised.

We called by and grabbed this one today as it was missing last time we looked. Easy find today.
I popped back here to drop in a replacement cache. However I had looked at the logs and saw that the CO had replaced the cache a week before I found the cache cap. So the cap must be from an older cache and the current cache must still be here!! So I had another look before putting the new cache in. And I found it easily. How could I have have missed this??
Oh well, signed the brand new log, changed my original find to a Write Note and hello - there's a note saying the CO had just replaced it Again. I feel vindicated - it wasn't there!
Thanks for replacing the cache.

Tagged along with The Seagnoid for a walk and a couple of caches around Havleock which he was after. Visited here first. It was very nostalgic for me as I grew up on this land 30 odd years ago so it bought back many memories. The landscape has changed dramatically and lots of new houses. Our old home was still standing. Loved the 2 horse power theme. What fun. Cheers The Seagnoid & Bum&worker for bringing me back here. Will be visiting again soon.
Like The Seagnoid, we found the lid, but exploration of all holes and rocks failed to find anything else. We will have to pop back one day to claim properly.
Awesome! Three DNFs on the way in, all found on the way out. Except that... in this cache's case.... sort of. Foundish.
Now that someone found the light switch and there is heaps of light here I had a good look around but kept coming back to one spot. I found a stick and started dragging the innards out. That hole goes a long way, at least 300mm. Managed to drag out two little stones and... that lid from a B&W vial! Spent about another 5-10 minutes reaching, scraping and dragging but could not find the vial itself.
I will be coming back this way next weekend, will drop in another cache for the CO. Won't be using the same hole unless I can seriously fill it with stones. If not the same hole then will hammer a rock into it to block it off (don't want some kindly cacher putting it back there, it could disappear!).
By the way, this gets a favourite. Love the tree, and love the road making display!

DNF . Looks like it ought to be easy, but it is also late at night, so as I said in an earlier log, the find rate drops right down at night. Will come back tomorrow, the sun should have risen by then (hopefully!).
Very nice setup here. The cache was found easily (yeah, don't pop the container too far back in the hole there )

Found while driving through to Nelson from Picton. The hidey-hole seems to be of considerable depth and it took some "hooking" work with a stick to retrieve it. Non the less it was an interesting sculpture and well worth the short side trip. TFTC
Our third visit up this road and finally we found the cache, though extricating it from its hiding place took a bit of effort. It would take a super-rat to steal it now.
Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

#9917. One cache, two horse power, and three visits to find it. Good to turn it into a smiley. TFTC.
Container chewed and lid missing.
But now THANKS to kellypaigemadison, it is all fixed for others to enjoy.
Great stuff kpm
and thank you. b&w

Thought it worth a short detour to have another look for this cache after a DNF here. But despite finding an obvious hint object as well as a not so obvious one, we failed to find the cache. Looks like this one is not meant to be for us.
We did find what looked like a rather chewed lid of a film canister and took it with us. Eeek! What caused that!
Didn't find a cache, but we did find a well gnawed plastic lid (looks like a film canister lid). We CITO'ed it.
To be honest we didn't spend too long looking as we had a distance to go but as this hasn't been found for so long we wonder if it is still there ? Great location anyway, thanks to the cache owner for bringing us here.
Thanks for cache. I found it during Sundays geotrip around Pelorus Bridge. Very nice place and nice sculpture.
[green]Day 3 of our 5 day Easter caching roadtrip. Today we are heading from Blenheim to Nelson.[/green]
Very nicely done piece of artwork. We normally wouldnt have come this far off our marked path but because someone added a photo we wanted to see this for ourselves and the cache was the bonus. An acorn fell on Mum head while retrieving the cache. We wrote on the piece of paper someone has added. Thanks for the cache

Been riding up the valley. Came without pen, photo shows I was at gz, Lucky the bridge over the fence is not for riding! Tftc
what a pleasure to see this after the huff up the hill, I am going to give it a tick. thanks
An impressive entrance indeed. This roofer has talent If the gates get upgraded it will be fit for royalty. TFTC
We decided on a trip east today to pick up a few new caches and finish what we ran out of time to do last trip. This is certainly an imposing gateway with some clever art work nearby. Cache was soon found by Hazedarus then off we went further up the valley. TFTC.
Made the detour on the way home from Picton. Well worth the deviation. Nice artwork and great paint job.

A short detour on the way to Blenheim this evening. I can't remember seeing that feature the last time I passed this spot - it's really well done and made me smile - nice one. TFTC

Used this spot as a drop off point for Mr MTB to start his ride thru the Maungatapu, Miss 6 quickly found the cache and it was signed whilst he got ready. The kidlets enjoyed the artwork and talking to a nearby bull while they waited. TFTC.
What a lot of work they've gone to. Well worth a little detour to look at the artwork- so creative. Cache found and log signed quickly.
That's just gorgeous! You've got to admire people who can create things like that, and the attention to detail was great, even the bridge across the pond! Thanks for bringing us out here, never would have come otherwise and it definitely gave us a smile. TFTC, bumandworker. =^.^=
Amazingly clever piece of Art Work which we never would have discovered otherwise. Log was too wet to do anything with so dried out container and put in new log sheet inside plastic bag, so it's good to go again. TFTC.
Now this was a find which we wouldn't have known about if not for geocaching. Very cool sculpture. A favourite from us.
As a reasonably frequent visited to this valley I knew where this was as soon as I saw the name of the listing. An interesting bit of Jeff Thopmson style sculpture that I've admired while passing. Nice to see a cache here. SL TFTC
Stopped to collect this cache and view the art work on the way to nelson for Easter.

We were off to visit a friend along this road and do a cache on the way. Imagine our surprise to find this cache at the driveway to our friend's place. During the course of our visit we were able to introduce our friend to the science of geocaching and help her to her first cache - at her very own front gate!!
My very first cache ~right at my front gate!
Had visitors today that were mad caches and have me hooked

A creative piece of art work. A familiar area as my parents owned the sheep farm opposite and along the road on the same side of this cache for 15 years. This was in the days before all the subdividing. Mum enjoyed her trip down memory lane. TFTC
I am back in the south island again geocaching , I am doing a road trip with this Nana and Auntie and having Good time Thank for the Caches
