It was time for a Wednesday wander.
A trio of Befuddled puzzlers met at the Rat's den, to go north.
The trio consisted of SA Sewer Rats, Brisal5 and Astro.
It was day filled with adventures, stories, laughter and caches.
We set off with a list of targeted caches.
Most of the targeted caches were found.
This was a a quick stop, find and stamp then on our way north and beyond. Tftc
Found this on a quick stop on the way to Port Pirie. A great looking sculpture. The kids found this one right away as it was seen from a distance. TNLN. Cheers.
Found on a trip to Crystal Brook and Port Pirie with Team Waldron for a few days. Thanks for the cache wheres wolly!

Unfortunately it appears the last person didn't put the lid on at all and the cache was half full of water after the recent rain
I removed a soggy blob of paper and cards that were jammed in the bottom. The log book is damp but ok.
Log signed, cache sealed and returned

gridge98 had asked about going caching in the lower north area today[?] and I sure wasn't going to say no[^]
There was heat, rain[^], thunder and lightning[^] and cache finds totalling 31 of which 1 was a event held at 11pm at night at Vili's Mile End[|)][xx(][|)] I was exhausted by this point[|)][xx(][|)] and so slept in the car until the 6am event to farewell Gwen[|)][^]
Some awesome sights seen[^], great back roads travelled (some more slippery than others especially after rain showers passed overhead) and Rex had a ball running some roads and chasing vermin out of cemeteries[^]
We saw lots of 'old schools or sites'[^], entered tiny townships and learned lots of history[^]

After some lunch at the Redhill roadhouse, time to find this one. Pretty difficult to be clandestine but found fairly quickly, and we were on our way. Really like this piece of artwork. Tftc
At the end of a fun 2-day-away [Staying at Peterborough] Railfan/Caching trip, there was the opportunity for me to grab just one last cache and fuel up the GeoMobile post find at Redhill [^]

So after a great weekend of fun, frivolity and food in Quorn we packed up camp and headed back home to Adelaide. We took the scenic route and found 33 caches on our way plus adding 5 new dnfs to our tally.
It was quite overcast but we didn't get wet so that was a bonus. It was nice to see some of these small country towns although we were quite underwhelmed by the Golden North factory at Laura we had been expecting something much grander and a nice ice cream cafe! We had a nice packed lunch at Wirrabra and finally arrived home at 6pm in time to cook a roast supper.
Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Quorn another part of the state we would like to explore further.
This one did take me a while to locate as it was in the last spot to be checked. Nice horse and nice place to stop. TFTC where's wolly.

On my two day trip to Port Lincoln with e.gregory1, we stopped everyone and again to collect some target caches along the way. Majority of the trip was based around collecting puzzles and LGAs. Unfortunately we hit a kangaroo not too far past port wakefield but car is a bit dented.
This is a nice and simple find on the side of the road. TFTC

We are on a 10 day holiday from Bendigo to Whyalla to swim with the giant cuttlefish. We are now on our way home and staying at Brinkworth for a couple of nights. Today we discovered we had no more caches in the GPSr and no cable to load them so we have been forced to join the 21st century and cache by phone. It was here we turned off fortified by coffee and cache.

Owl was heading home after a highly successful caching trip to the Eyre Peninsula with Sushilord. Having gotten up early so he could go to work, she decided to stick to the physiotherapy-mandated rest stops. This was the morning coffee and petrol stop and last time Owl was here her companions told her the cache was missing. It isn't. It's in that one.

Last break for the day as I head back to Adelaide after working in the area. Luckily didn't require any stealth mode as two rather large semi trailer towing rigs had parked right near GZ as the drivers were obviously in getting a coffee so it was an easy park, wander to GZ, work out which block it was in and retrieve the cache, sign log and replace. Back on the road in nothing flat. Did take the time to admire the Clydesdale though as I wandered past.

Today, in addition to looking for more earthcaches, micaparamedic and I stopped at some interesting locations with traditional caches, a virtual, and a letterbox hybrid. I learned about the Goyder Line, saw painted grain silos, and went off-roading to the location of Zone 39. Surprisingly, two of these things had a geological twist to them.
It's my fourth day in this "new-for-me" country, and I'm starting to get more comfortable. I've learned about flake, and pasties, and sausage rolls. Of course, there's still the ever present McDonald's and Subways if you don't want to think, but I found that I prefer looking for a bakery with sausage rolls.
Last night I wondered if placing a bed's box springs on top of mattresses was another Australian tradition I needed to get used to. Partway through the night I decided, tradition or not, I would set the springs up against the wall and sleep on the mattress which sagged in the middle until I realized a leg was missing. Once I propped it up with a roll of toilet paper, the rest of the night was comfortable. Live and learn.
I am beginning to get in the correct side of the car as a passenger, and am less terrified when going around traffic circles. I have absolutely no desire to try driving, though.
Thanks for the stop at this piece of art - my youngest daughter liked Clydesdales, so it made me think of her.

We were over this way in April but didn't come to this end of the road. If anybody was going to hit their head on the sign it was going to be me!! It didn't tickle that's for sure!! Tftc
Coruze and I pulled in for lunch and to get the cache as well. What a great sculpture. I wonder how many non cachers fly past getting only a glimpse of this. Great spot for a cache.

Travelling through to Adelaide with troobloo and we needed a break so we pulled in here at the roadhouse.
Fantastic to see the artwork of the Clydesdale and man.
We popped over to GZ and found the cache exposed so after we did our caching duties we ensured it was hidden out of sight.
Thanks for the fun!

Have passed this turn off so many times without stopping but we were taking more time to return home so made the detour. It is a pity there isn't some form of information about the sculpture and who made it. Nevertheless, we located the cache easily (possibly a little too easy) & signed the log.

Day two of the Nullarbor experience was here. I again joined the convoy of Alansee, Maccamob and Mica Paramedic for another day of fun, heading for Port Augusta, then I would do my own thing for a few days before joining them again in Esperance. Today, we would drive from Murray Bridge, to Port Augusta via Gawler, just over 380km of driving. We would log our finds as MAAM, AMMA, AMAM or some other combination of those 4 letters.
Nice little spot to stop, check out the history and find a cache.

I would like to thank wheres wolly for placing this cache. I always enjoy getting out and about to view this great country of ours and caching allows me to do that. Once at GZ, I sometimes find the cache quickly but sometimes it takes awhile to sus out the well camouflaged hide. Once found, log is signed and the cache is rehidden as found.
