Checked the hint, checked around all that we could see that matched and even crossed the fence in case we missed one as GPS wanted me to go over it.
No luck but track is nice enough to come back for the full walk sometime.
Cheers.

Searched for this while travelling up and down the track. Had no luck either time. Followed the hint but all that resulted was a pile of cones at the suggested place with nothing underneath. Next time perhaps!!?? Rodney and Iris.
This was hard - but we found it at last. Think it's a bit off on the GPS. We didn't have time to do all the walk. Hope to be back some time

A quick easy find, using BaldEd’s coordinates which were spot on, as we started up the track. The cache was lying in the open, so we replaced it consistent with the hint, and covered it to secure it. We suggest the track to here, and this cache in particular, warrant a terrain rating of at least 2. TFTC
Together with my family on a vacation trip to New Zealand. Starting at Auckland airport on transfer to Christchurch we went for a roundtrip exploring the south island. This was one of many caches we found while visiting so many nice and interesting places thanks to all the caches why I want to send a thank you to all CO for the work spent. TFTC.
It was drizzling on us for most of our time on this track. GPS consistently pointed over the fence, after following it for a while we went for the obvious and there it was.
Return trip to Rakaia Gorge to pick up the caches i didn't get to or couldn't find last time. Am confused how i logged 3 DNF last time, as today i barely broke stride and put my hand straight on them, in the same places i was frantically searching last time?!
Had passed by many times and this was the first time I had the oportunity to go for a longer walk. The GPS was all over the place so used the hint and found in the obvious place. TFTC
This was our first cache on our walk up the Rakaia Gorge. The way offers some great views despite the cloud cover today. Thanks.

Mixed fortunes at Rakaia Gorge today 2 finds out of 5 searches, this wasn't one of them, will have to come back some time.
We stopped off at the Gorge to do the walk up to the earth cache and picked Bryan's Ferry, Rakaia Pine Twin Bridges, Stay in Rakaia Gorgea and Rakaia Lookout Lookout.
We had a great walk even if a little wet under foot. The river was in full flow as the snow continued to melt so the pool near the bridge was flooded. Nice views at various spots. The GPSr was a little wayward under the trees for Twin Bridges and we turned off a little too early on seeing rocks that match the hint plus a trail we followed up this false path before realising it was not GZ. At one stage a group of cows came over to either help or look on as we searched for Rakaia Lookout Lookout. TFTC's

First cache along the Rakai Gorge Walk. We did 3 caches along the way before the weather turned on us and we decided not to chance it with Mycro Man on my back and the recent rains we had. Will be back for the rest of the caches. Did with Mycro Man on our NZ MEGA 2012 South Island Trip
On our annual caching holiday with Skullracing touring NZ before heading to the Mega.
We decided to go on the walk and it was a good decision we thoroughly enjoyed the views. This one took a little while to find but the Queen came up trumps. The log was too wet to sign so we added a new page.

#3267 Found on our travels south from Christchurch with DazzPete, heading toward the Mega. We were really looking forward to the walk along this trail and we had brilliant weather to boot. We came upon GZ and given the tree cover, we knew our GPSr's were going to be creative. The terrain rating initially had us looking in one location but after an unsuccessful search we adjusted our thought process & the well hidden cache was revealed. Water has seeped into the container so the logbook was too wet to sign, fortunately we had paper supplies on us as a temporary log in the interim. Our thanks to ridders76 for encouraging us on this top walk - the pine tree was quite impressive also [^]. Cheers from Australia
Log book a bit damp but no problems finding the cache. A nice wee walk and impressive views of the river swirling through the narrow gap.

Enjoying the track so much went right by GZ. A quick return and find. Was able to scratch date and initials but they're not likely to be legible to next finder - very soggy. NINO TFTC
A wee hunt for the cache at GZ but soon had the cache - discovered the log was to wet to sign properly so managed just our intials ( NO and SO) would have dropped in a new log but we had forgotten our kit before went up the track - thanks for the cache and the walk and huge pine tree
Was so nice to get to walk a few of the trails on the way heading south to NZ MEGA Event. Time to grab a few caches and see some great views. This to us is what cacheing is all about . Was also good to have a good stretch of the legs TFTC
Missed this last time I looked, but was easy today.Couldn't sign the log, too wet. Thanks.
enjoyed the whole track, this cache is wet and needs a new logbook! T4TC

Took a bit of tracking down at GZ GPS was putting it 20m away all others for the day were within 2m.Had to use the clue. Many thanks for cach.
Find #904. The last find as we headed back to the car along the Rakaia Gorge walkway today - we didn't exactly know where it was on the way in, so we left it until the end. It was definitely nice to get under the cover of the pine tree with all this heat.
A search was quickly started, and after deducing from prior logs that the provided coordinates were of no use to locating the cache, we went to the clue and the cache was quickly found. A very enjoyable walk with good views, thanks. SL TFTC.

Found at 6:13 PM on 26/11/2011.
Found on a caching & orienteering trip into Canterbury.
Off out for a walk whilst staying at the nearby campground.
Coords a bit out for me but hint spot on.

The only one we did not find, GPS way out I think but we are tired and moving on to home now.
On my way up the gorge I dutifully limbed over the fence because that is where my GPS indicated the goodies were to be. On getting to the zero point I realized I was putting too much energy into this and gave up for the sanity of my companion. I also had the choice of a return search. With this I used my commonsense and the clue and it was soon in hand. Thankyou.
Was considering the gorge track today but with the co-ords pointing to an extremely hard 1.5/1.5 in the middle of gorse/broome I decided to stick to the roads today. Will be back next time. Thanks
Nice day walking along the track with BaldEd enjoying the views and chorus of Bellbirds feasting on kowhai tree flower nectar. Nice area.
Well I found one of the caches at the start of my second nice walk of the day.
This were the coords we took at the pine. Having read the logs, it appears we found Ed's cache. Cheers Gav
First cache a good 10km or so return hike. Coords seemed about 25m or so out, but had an easy find in an obvious spot once we were back on the right side of the fence. Cheers Gav [9753]
Went out on Sunday but didn't get to the computer till after BaldEd had been by. There rare now two caches hidden here. Will accpet found logs for either until I return and fix up.
Stopped by to stretch the legs after skiing - well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. On the way back from finding the 2 recently placed caches further along the track I had a little difficulty as the gps indicated that this cache was in the adjacent property. On reading the description and the last log I discovered that I was standing at the most appropriate place and that the cache had been muggled. A brief search revealed the pencil. Ah ha I returned to the ski/cachemobile, picked up a container and temporary logbook and replaced the cache. Last of 3 finds on this track today. My coords S43 30.954 E171 39.529.
TFTC. A nice opportunity to stretch the legs and look down on the gorge. Unfortunately the cache has been muggled. Found pencil near GZ and then log a little further away. I put them together at GZ. But they are not in a container.
Stunning place for a nice walk and a hide of course. Found after battling with a wandering GPS and a random snowstorm! Thanks ridders76 for the hide.
Heading to this I met waimak coming back having impressively found this cache without GPS.
Drove up from Christchurch and found I had not loaded these new caches into the GPS. Thought this a likely spot and found it. About a minute later N!mrod arrived. A lucky FTF.
