We are camped at the golf course for a motorhome GC holiday. Today we packed a picnic and went for a trip to find the local GC's. Glad to have a nice day, but cold wind after all the rain.
Thanks for this cache Bitsprayer.

Not a quick find as the foliage was prickly and dusty. And did I mention that it was very hot? Anyway, StreetWalkerNZ made the find where I had already looked.
It wasn't until we drove away that we spotted the rail bridge TFTC.

#22166. Not a fun search here. Very hot day, leaning into some prickly pine branches that were covered in dust. Oh well ... at least we were rewarded with a smiley. TFTC.
Out on a day trip heading south to find some caches in the Waitaki Valley, (push bike onboard). It was a lovely day and with a high success rate enjoyable as well. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches and sorry about the cut and paste.
I had parked my snail shell at Awamoko a few days ago and decided today to locate and sign a few caches between here and SH1 so that I can meet the requirements of my personal challenge which is to have my calendar the same shade of green or darker.
Remnants of a bygone era.
Cheers for the cache.

A quick park and grab while on my way to oamaru to get as many caches I can for points for the planatery Pursuit challenge. TFTC
I had a goal to get to 2000 finds before the end of 2017 so a 2 day caching mission to Oamaru was in order. Last stop of the day was around Seven Mile Road area. Very quiet along here today. Last time I was in the area was back in October for the Geofest and it was quite busy!
Nice quick find. TFTC

Its Sunday - and day 3 of our amazing expedition. We are up early again and leave Awamoko as the sun is rising, heading back to town for Day 2 of Geofest17.
Look around and see the old bridge. Another one snagged and tagged on our way past. Cheers

Taybeedragon and I are staying at the Domain and, as usual, we are up early. So we are heading back to the Oamaru Geofest for day two the long way.
I was expecting the railway to follow the road, but now - the old rail bridge proves me wrong.

An afternoon of caching before the Geofest wrap-up. Found a few, missed a few, had a good time.

Did you know the **WENZ** Event is being held in Wellington over Labour Weekend next year. Visit the web page at [GC78NMQ](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC78NMQ_wenz-event-2018-wellington) for more details.
Out caching with the Trans Tasman Team, having a great time this weekend! Thanks to everyone who helped organize the geofest and all of the people who have put out so many caches for us to enjoy!
Caching with our team for the geofest signing as TTT. Having heaps of fun traversing this area. This one had us going both sides but got there in the end. Tftc
DAY 5
Another day with a variety of caches to be found, attended and answered.

Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn’t be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn’t take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code. .

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… Our journey to the bottom of the South Island has been almost two years in the planning. We were determined to make it to Oamaru Geofest. We decided to also factor in completing a couple of missions (JASMER and Virtual challenges), and the wheels started turning...
Day Five: Oamaru Geofest
We decided to spend our morning in the north, around the Top Hat series. There were so many hides in this area. Today was going to be about piling on numbers... Gap and I worked out a system that helped to move things along, and it great that most hides were in good order and in play. Most caches were quick finds... Another quick find here. TFTC.

Heading towards the Oamaru Geofest.
I crossed the great Waitaki and began caching in earnest wending my way towards the Challenge Caches.
With those now behind me it was time to find a few Traditionals as I work my may to my accommodation for the night.
I think that I'll be discovering many more parts of the old rail network over the weekend.

A nice early start to the day, North Otago was our target for the morning and then hunt out a few more around town.
Even ran in to several other cachers along the way, Thanks from the McCutchan Cache Clan for putting these caches out.

Today if the railway line was been closed it would be converted to a cycle way. How attitudes have changed over time. Cache was quickly found.
Headed down south with C&D and 11HPG11 for the CHCH Mega as part of the HOAC team, and decided that a Mega road trip/Mega Mission was the right thing to do. After a great day caching from Dunedin to Omarama we manged to get a few hours sleep before the big day 2 started.
Day 2 was the start of a ambitious plan to try and find as many caches as possible in one day! To maximise our chances of a big number we decided a 24 hour caching day was the only way to go. What an epic day, and some great moments too. The rough idea was to cache from Omarama to Oamaru, and then head north towards Christchurch. A huge thanks to everyone for the cache placments, and I apologise for the copy and past logs.
Find #117 for the day.

This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends. In the company of both HKCB & 11HPG11 this was going to be another memorable caching road trip for many reasons.
This is the mission that we had set ourselves up for several months back. It was HKCB's idea, I was just dumb enough to think it was a challenge and I'd be up for it, 11HPG11 was silly enough to come along for the ride once we confirmed a spare seat (Nova Lightening pulled out for family reasons).
We were going to try to beat the NZ one day record in New Zealand (it would have been easier with 4 people), so after 2.5hrs sleep after a good feed at Omarama we were ready to go. This was the one hundred and sixteenth on what was to be an epic day with what amounted to 401 caches collected for the day and about 38 DNF's. We managed this with 10minutes to spare but by this time we were done for and still had to drive back to Kaiapoi. All in all an epic days caching with good friends and something I don't think any of us will repeat in a hurry.
All in all it was going to be a big day with a number of challenges, great sceanery, and of course great company. Fantastic driving along and up here as the landscape was so different from what we are used to back in the Waikato. One good thing about backroads being that we could continue our neferious activites without being disturbed by muggles.
Nice quick find here without any issues .
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

What a Mega Mission for a group of Hamilton Over Achievers! A great trip, a long time in the planning. I teamed up with Cats&Dragons and HKCB to grab a couple of caches while in Christchurch and surrounding areas for the 2015 Mega Event. We flew out from Auckland on Friday night and traveled to Dunedin in the dark of the night. Stopped for a few hours sleep before setting off to grab caches in the Otago area on Saturday before attempting a few more on Sunday and then arriving at the Mega on the Monday. An amazing, yet crazy road trip
When C&D mentioned a day with over 400 caches I should have turned and ran... instead I said yes, and here we are. 401 caches in 23 hours and 50 minutes. All done on about 2.5hr of sleep. It was hard work with only 3 of us and there were times that were hard and tiring but I still had a blast! An amazing experience that one has to be slightly crazy to even consider
Great hide, no problems here. Thanks for the placement

We watched a farmer as he walked across the bridge, well Aoraki and geograndad watched the farmer, while I made the find. Found with Aoraki Sheep
Nice to see the rail bridge still being used, even if it was by a farmer. Found with debsnz

13419… Now a nice handy old railway bridge for the farmer to mooove his Cows, TFTC.
Quick find on a Sunday drive - went from post to post to other side of the road - soon in hand. Retrieved geocoin.
Would have been nice for the ocean to alps trail to follow the old rail route but I guess its well & truly back to farm land now.

Quick grab...final caching day for 2012 going for a record finds in 12 hours for my personal best..
I am quite surprised that some scrap metal merchant hasn't got his hands on this bridge. It looks quite substantial and is surely a luxury for the farmer.
Another great day out geocaching - Plenty of good caches located today!

A quick find on a big caching day from Christchurch with Kiwi Moose. A bit of a bridge to nowhere. Thanks for the hide.
Judging by the fence the farmer doesn't use it either.
