tmann421 and I are heading back to Christchurch after attending the MEGA.We enjoyed all the caches found and thank the cache owners for their efforts in maintaining these for us to findLog signed tm/ww NZTFTC
Yet another place I wouldn't have come but for geocaching. I suspect I'll be back - with a fishing rod next time. All those cars heading in after us are parked up for the occupants to do just that.

We are from Abilene, Texas, USA and have come to New Zealand to visit with a friend. We plan on going after different Cache Types while here. We will also find geocaches while going sight seeing.
Thank you, Bitsprayer for placing this cache for all to find. We sign log sheets either as Love Cachers or LCers.
Driving over 50 miles to have...
Rusty barbed wire ripping through your clothes...
Curious rattlesnakes that come out of nowhere...
Itchy mosquito bites on every inch of your body...
A 40 mph wind gust blowing sand into your ears, nose and mouth...
Cactus needles getting stuck deep in your hands, arms and legs...
Thorny Mesquite trees scratching you up from head to toe...
Some or all of these things on a hike through 101° heat...
To sign your name or trade a toy...
SOUND LIKE FUN TO YOU?
It does to us, we're geocachers in West Texas! - {Taken from a Greater Abilene Association geocoin.}

StreetWalkerNZ and I had never been to Bortons Pond before, but now there are heaps of caches here, it was a must do while we are staying in the area.
Looks a bit scarey, but I suppose that's what white water is all about! TFTC.

️ Parking ️ was wonderful. It made finding this cache really enjoyable. It was fun going over the intake.
On the road with NZ_B, graciesGPSfun and Nosynel. Another intetesting spot. Many thanks.

I enjoyed being driven around here to park and grab the caches.
The channel wasn’t flowing fast for any white water rafting.
Apologies for the cut and paste of the logs for this series.
In Canterbury for a 25th wedding anniversary and am caching with GraciesGPSfun as well.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Bitsprayer.

A meander home taking on the inland route. What a lovely place on a lovely day. Would never have known about this pond if it wasn't for geocaching TFTC
Quick find. Nice and quiet with clear blue skies and snowy mountains in the distance.
We would like to log to the "near by island-cache", but at least I only logged some of the caches around the island
It would be interesting to see kayakers in here. We enjoyed the continuation of the walk. The cache is dry and in good condition. Thanks for placing.
Day 2 of our 6-Day End of the Year caching trip to Dunedin. A quick easy find. The cache is still nice and dry. Thanks for placing the cache and adding to our smilies. Happy Caching
Out geocaching with Waitaki Girls on Activities Day, good day with great finds TFTC
Visiting Oamaru for a wee family 'long weekend' holiday.
Heading up the Waitaki investigating Rock art, fossils and any thing else interesting along the way. Heading back to Oamaru we spotted this loop of caches and thought it looked an interesting place to explore so ducked in for a look. Quickly found this cache. Cool looking whitewater course; even with what looks to be a far bit of water coming in the intake a lot of the course looked to be high and dry! I guess they open the floodgates wide when there's a comp on?!...Great location. Cheers.

Stopped here on a day drive to explore the region and find a few caches. Spotted the signs of a cache hide as I walked towards GZ so an instant find. Signed log, TFTC
Slow driving on this side. No one in sight. I would have expected some freedom campers around.
On a mission around South Canterbury/North Otago. 114 found caches today. Thanks to all the CO's for their effort. Sorry about the cut and paste. TFTC.
I only had the afternoon to sign off a few caches and so decided to visit the ones at the Lower Waitaki Intake as this was near to where I was staying and a few surrounding ones as well. What a great area this is.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Headed down south with C&D and 11HPG11 for the CHCH Mega as part of the HOAC team, and decided that a Mega road trip/Mega Mission was the right thing to do. After a great day caching from Dunedin to Omarama we manged to get a few hours sleep before the big day 2 started.
Day 2 was the start of a ambitious plan to try and find as many caches as possible in one day! To maximise our chances of a big number we decided a 24 hour caching day was the only way to go. What an epic day, and some great moments too. The rough idea was to cache from Omarama to Oamaru, and then head north towards Christchurch. A huge thanks to everyone for the cache placments, and I apologise for the copy and past logs.
Find #97 for the day.
Had to be careful as we made our way around not to wake the campers, which was a little unfortunate for us as we were listening to the rugby at this point. Looks like it's a pretty amazing spot, so will look forward to returning in the daylight sometime.

This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends. In the company of both HKCB & 11HPG11 this was going to be another memorable caching road trip for many reasons.
This is the mission that we had set ourselves up for several months back. It was HKCB's idea, I was just dumb enough to think it was a challenge and I'd be up for it, 11HPG11 was silly enough to come along for the ride once we confirmed a spare seat (Nova Lightening pulled out for family reasons).
We were going to try to beat the NZ one day record in New Zealand (it would have been easier with 4 people), so after 2.5hrs sleep after a good feed at Omarama we were ready to go. This was the ninety sixith on what was to be an epic day with what amounted to 401 caches collected for the day and about 38 DNF's. We managed this with 10minutes to spare but by this time we were done for and still had to drive back to Kaiapoi. All in all an epic days caching with good friends and something I don't think any of us will repeat in a hurry.
All in all it was going to be a big day with a number of challenges, great sceanery, and of course great company. Fantastic driving along and up here as the landscape was so different from what we are used to back in the Waikato. One good thing about backroads being that we could continue our neferious activites without being disturbed by muggles.
This entire set of caches will remain in all our memories for a number of reasons,
1/. sneaking passed parked campers without waking them up.
2/. Semi Final World Cup Rugby
3/. 11HPG11 took one for the team, stripping off and doing the early morning swim to "The Decoy" so us guys could listen to the Rugby at approx 5am.
Now we don't care what anyone has to say, but thats dedication.
Nice quick find here without any issues .
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

What a Mega Mission for a group of Hamilton Over Achievers! A great trip, a long time in the planning. I teamed up with Cats&Dragons and HKCB to grab a couple of caches while in Christchurch and surrounding areas for the 2015 Mega Event. We flew out from Auckland on Friday night and traveled to Dunedin in the dark of the night. Stopped for a few hours sleep before setting off to grab caches in the Otago area on Saturday before attempting a few more on Sunday and then arriving at the Mega on the Monday. An amazing, yet crazy road trip
When C&D mentioned a day with over 400 caches I should have turned and ran... instead I said yes, and here we are. 401 caches in 23 hours and 50 minutes. All done on about 2.5hr of sleep. It was hard work with only 3 of us and there were times that were hard and tiring but I still had a blast! An amazing experience that one has to be slightly crazy to even consider
No problems on this one, thanks for the placement. Easy to search here in the dark. Very cool watching all that water... although little did I know I would end up in it a bit later on!

On the way to the way from Oamaru to Timaru we stopped here. Most of the boxes we found very fast. Only for two we had to search longer. Thanks for them
no trouble with this one tftc
mission for the day was to put a lot of smilies on the lower waitaki back roads and maybe break my daily haul limit. lost count of the number of drinks cans I have picked up on my own cito

We parked our campervan at the lake for an overnight stay. Wouw what a stunning lake and a quiet surrounding.
We went for an awesome bicycle ride.
Interesting to see the course....it also worries us a bit for the cache which is still coming "the decoy"

I can see how popular this section of the river must be. The gates were hanging, suspended above the river but not a canoe was in sight.
It would be good to come back when there is more water, to see how the course works. Thanks for bringing us here. Found with Woody104 and debsnz
Not a lot of water in the pond's at the moment so the white water course isn't much use today. Found with Aoraki Sheep and Woody104
Cant see how you could get enough water in here for white water sports but the gates wont be here for nothing. #1036
Oooohh, I like those big boulders! I could see them looking sitting very nicely on my lawn... I wonder how heavy they've be to put on the back of a trailer??! TFTC
It would be great to see this in use - although it would not make for a good day caching!
We enjoyed the day caching in this area

Headed out for a weekend of crazy caching with sharkiefan - it was all about numbers this weekend!
For me personally, I needed the numbers so that I could get enough caches to bring my average a day back up to 4 caches at least for this year, as on a streak it's not really possible to find heaps of caches in your home hood!
This was cache number 10 out of the 116 we found over the two days. And a huge thank you to all the cachers who put out all these caches! Loved the fun time we had - though weekend could have ended better!
Sorry for not writing cooler logs, but heading overseas in a couple days, and I don't exactly want to be behind in my logging then!! Haha.

This is one of ten Bortons Pond caches found here today. Weather getting colder & windier.
A quick find on a big caching day from Christchurch with Kiwi Moose. The Bortons Pond series gave us some fun! Thanks for the hide, the kayaking could be a bit extreme at times! .
