Logs

14-Jul-16
The first YO placed - and the last to be archived. A visit today confirmed it was missing and the area such that we are not replacing.

07-Jul-16
Will check soon. Sounds like this has gone.

07-Jul-16
We didn't find it either and gave up after over half and hour.

13-Mar-16
Hrmm....maybe I need to work on my skills....

07-Feb-16
Weekend tripping on the motor bike.

01-Jan-16
After the most silent New Years Eve we ever had on the Maitai Camping Ground we spent the day exploring Nelson and wlked to NZ's centre. Thanks and Happy New Year!

05-Sep-15
Cool one

05-Sep-15
StreetGamer (Master B) was streets ahead of HorsegirlNZ (Miss N) and me when it came to finding this one. We'd hardly got out of the car before he'd shot off to search. HGNZ and I were still several metres away when we came running back with the container in his hand.

The log was then signed and the container returned primarily for the benefit of HGNZ and me to look for it ourselves. Whilst HGNZ then spotted it I still needed extra help in pointing it out. Oh the shame.

Thanks for another hide SoBads. It's the first time I've seen this sort of container camo in NZ, but we'd seen it quite widely used during our holiday in the UK earlier in the year.

01-Jan-15
Found after going up the hill by mistake. Was very wet so hung it on a low branch of the tree that is was under with it just off the ground to allow it to dry. put some branches over it, as was lying in the open when i found it. TFTC

13-Sep-14
found out in the open so replaced it slightly more concealed in some tall grass. the "young ones" should still be able to find it no problems. TFTC Smile

24-Aug-14
I am glad we can do "Young Ones" cache. Not where the GPS was pointing.

10-May-14
#7468. Overshot on the way up the valley, so stopped on the way back. Liked the camo bag. The cache was a bit damp inside as it hadn't been closed properly. TFTC.

10-May-14
We had to get this cache on the back back as there was no parking for some distance past GZ. I was following StreetWalker as he started up a steep track but as I knew the terrain rating was low, told him not to go there. He changed direction and soon had the cache in hand. I backtracked and approached from the road so just needed to sign the log, to the accompaniment of quacking. TFTC.

19-Dec-13
Curious where that seventh duckling might have gone we investigated and came up smiling. TFTC

19-Dec-13
Too often we have driven past this cache so with a break between shifts we took a drive up the valley. The cache was found fairly quickly but not before I was reminded open sandals in this terrain in the dark is not a good mix. I'm sure all those yellow dotted lines weren't there last time we came up here either but plenty of safe parking across the road still. TFTC.

15-Aug-13
Our GPS's are like our eyesight in the bush, they become unfocused and fade a bit. Then we realised we didn't need to be in the bush. A nice find and the YO should love it.

15-Aug-13
Took abit but once 1 of the team focused we were there. TFTC

03-Aug-13
Well I was very pleased to find this one today and carry on my streak. It is pleasing to see that prior to my find it was found by Sidewaze so we are young at heart and i am pleased you have this cache for young ones. I love the duck. TFTC

25-Jun-13
The GPS wasn't all that cooperative to start with but logic told me there was no sense scrambling up the hill. Then the GPS settled and I saw tell-tale signs nearby. What a veritable treasury of goodies. It would be good if more young ones were brought here to enjoy the swaps. Thanks for the cache. Big Grin

01-May-13
Had to check this out for the Granddaughters, TFTC.

26-Feb-13
Searched first at the near bike trail but that's too dangerous for the young ones... Then we switched to the right area... Smile

Little cachers very appreciative of the high quality of the swaps. Nice camo too. TFTC.

06-Jan-13
Together with my family on a vacation trip to New Zealand. Starting at Auckland airport on transfer to Christchurch we went for a roundtrip exploring the south island. This was one of many caches we found while visiting so many nice and interesting places thanks to all the caches why I want to send a thank you to all CO for the work spent. TFTC.

03-Jan-13
I had a spare twenty minutes so decided to duck up the valley mainly to have another go at Groom but the no go sign was up. They are still cleaning up after the New Year revelry. Made this find instead. Another smilie for the not so young.

Only one duck today, the rubber kind... very cute! We did bring a young one with us, but too young to appreciate the efforts (what with being in utero and all). However we enjoyed ourselves, just big kids after all. TFTC!

Cache check. It is safe and sound but the terrain rating is higher after the rain. Probably not suitable for YO's to do on their own at present but the cache should still have swops for them.

Hmm, GPS was still reading about 28m on final approach to GZ and indicated that I should be climbing up the track. Thought about the nature of the cache, had a little look around and spotted its hiding spot without any unnecessary exertions. I did bring some suitable swaps but couldn't fit them into the cache. Retrieved the trackables though. TFTC, Biggles.

19-Sep-11
The early finders seemed to match our coordinates but this is the third log that suggests they are out. Given the target audience if future finders would like to suggest alternatives it would be appreciated.

Did a bit of scrambling like YO's might enjoy - but decided it wasnt quite right so back tracked and soon found GZ saw Biggles had been there before us today and the trackables he took left me enough room to leave a couple of treasures Smile thanks for the cache Smile

19-Sep-11
We too started climbing the hill when we stopped and thought about who the cache was targeted for and turned around and after a few steps we spotted it Smile TFTC Smile

30-Aug-11
GPS had me climbing for a while, but then I found it!

29-Aug-11
able to drive the nifty 50 right too it! TY!

27-Aug-11
GPS reception had us guessing for a short while. TFTC

15-Aug-11
Still out with the bike.....haven't riden this track......yet. Can't see Many logs by the target audience yet, and we can't help there. Off spring and grand child all over in that other country with the funny accent and snakes.
Oh, and picture shows the duck family before more than one did not come back....but who's counting !! Smile

Nice One!!!!!!!!!! Clever touch. The little kids will love it. No worries with your co-ordinates. Spot on. We would very much be in the YAH category or as the female half has said, "they don't become men, just bigger and older boys." Much fun. Thanks

13-Aug-11
Ducked in to drop off Bug Uno TB.

13-Aug-11
It's the best cache we've done in ages reckon the junior Beansos. They've been saving up swappable items for months, but have been so disapointed that our recent finds have been so small. A couple of very happy YOs. TFTC

11-Aug-11
A YAH dash.

I may have considered the beltfamily brood had I not already been under the influence of the adrenaline rush and on the road ready to pounce. After doing this I feel seriously like having a bath. Now why would that be? Smile Thanks for the chance for another FTF; I'm just a few short of 300 towards my 300 FTFs / 300 placed / 3000 found target. Oddly enough I have peered in this particular gap once or twice myself, so no surprise to see a cache here now. TFTC #CS# (Just for the record, I was the YO there at the time --- probably a good thing KE wasn't there!)

10-Aug-11
I ducked in and quackly found the cache. Mr KE is definitely YAH. Loved the cache theme - very cute and good to see a bigger container. TFTC
