I must have taken the most difficult path to get here but we made it in the end , tftc

08-Jun-24
In South Auckland for the weekend with rattll. Parked up at Highbrook Park and spent some time hunting caches in the area.We decided to come around the long way to approach GZ. No difficulty in getting through the tree cover in the last few metres, made an instant find. All well, signed, and returned as found. Tftc!

08-Jun-24
We briefly debated if we should take the direct route from the last cache, but decided against it, and walk around the buildings, along the road.Once we'd picked our access point, and made our way to GZ, the cache was easily spotted. Thanks for putting this here

11-Apr-24

Found a way in and soon found the cache. All a bit slippery underfoot with all the loose undergrowth. Not something we are used to where we live. TFTC and greetings from the UK

23-Oct-23
#580Found in a ponga stump. Entirely appropriate, given that it was weirdly pongy here. Wonder which factory the smell is coming from ?

30-Jul-23
Up or down...of course we went wrong but we made it to GZ then GPS was a bit off from the trees but eventually made the find. TFTC

Very easy find.
Thorough about going round the back of the factory.
But she was rough.
So round the road it was.

! Be aware of the Waratahs hidden on the bank near gz!

06-Mar-22
Found it, recommend wearing shoes to get to it

06-Mar-22
Parked on Kerwyn Place and walked from there. Not a scenic route at all and stunk like industrial wasteland. Oh well

NZ MEGA 2020 (in 2022) road trip - Day 6

I'm still in Auckland having a nicely chilled time of it after all the bustle of the the weekend,
But there's always time to pop out for a cache or three. The area of Highbrook and Highbrook Park is one that I had done some caching in a few years ago, but there's been a lot of new placing since then so I thought it was time to pay it another visit.

This was the first cache I attempted, and immediately found the issue of being able to park nearby. But I ended up parking in a business carpark and hoping that this would be a quick find at GZ so that I wouldn't be long.

That's pretty much how it played out. At GZ it didn't take long to spot the stump, and also the cache as it was uncovered. Signed the log and replaced with a little more natural camo on top.

Thanks for placing this cache.

22-Dec-21
Nice n easy find here for M12 a quick dash down past the muggles
TFTC

19-Dec-21
I was in the area picking up flat pack furniture and this was the closest cache to quickly get before returning home. I wish the local board for the area would install some park signage so that parks like this can be identified easily and not assumed to be private property...
Regardless, I found the entrance and quickly made my way to GZ. Managed to avoid the gorse and not slip on the bank. Found the cache which is a good size. Despite the COs protestations, there was a pen in the cache lol and just as well, as mine wasn't working!
TFTC!
- John has spoken.

11-Oct-21
The last one in this direction before turning around and heading widdershins. I found the twin of this one later.

The recipe - mrs c at work? Check. Me, with a day off to go caching? Check. A decent weather forecast? Check. And so it came to pass that I headed out to Highbrook for a few hours caching having visited the area earlier in the year for some vaccination stuff, and not enough time to do the area justice. Plenty of finds this morning, but a nasty accident on Highbrook Drive early this morning meant coming in from Pakuranga way, and back the same way. All good though. Even encountered another family out caching, kylerrrr, and saw them a couple of times on the trails, nice. Thanks to all COs.

20-Jul-21
Nice little hideout behind big industry. Easy find and thanks for the cache!

A bit smelly because of Mr chips next door. But all good at gz and on top of that there was a pen in the cache contrary to the description. Big Grin TFTC Smile

04-Apr-21
Our goal today was to complete finding the rest of the caches at Highbrook having been rained off a few days ago after finding just the two at the Northern end. We parked in the public car park and made an anti-clockwise walk to finally come back down Underwood Street to cross the very much quieter road back to the car. An enjoyable and successful day. This cache in good order and dry. Discovered that the direct route from our last cache was impracticable so reverted to using a short bit around the roads to get to an access point. This worked and soon we could see the likely location for this cache, which was indeed correct. Thanks Trout-fly and Josie for all your placements and maintenance of the caches which we have thoroughly enjoyed searching for. Now off to get 'Space Invasion".

14-Feb-21
once i found an access point it was not too much effort, collect 2 of the coins left 2 others

Went down to locate cache.
Saw 2 guys graffiting the wall
Behind the bmw factory.

Nice and easy find with the hint. A big cat jumped out of a big tree when I approached. I wonder if she is living in it... I left 4 TB's that have been with me way too long due to covid 19 and the lock down. I hope they will be picked up by the next cacher soon. Thanks for hiding and maintaining this nicely hidden cache.

11-Mar-19
No real plans made for today but Auckland was the place to go.
We still have in excess of 2,000 caches in area to find and log so this is going to take some time to complete.
Spur of the moment and teamed up with ABCDF4,Eyespyben & Squirrel Nutcase.
Thought we would hit one area and try to clean it up. Apart from one cache that is disabled, think we got the rest plus a few outer lying caches on way home.
All caches signed as Team HRP (Huntly,Rotorua,Papamoa) This being our home towns.
Thanks to cache owners for their placements. SLTFTC

09-Mar-19
Easy find when you when the right Entry

09-Mar-19
Got up and decided to go to high brook to clean out some caches and the sign the logs as H/R/P tftc nice hide.

09-Mar-19
With Gap (of Fap and Gap), ABCDF4, and eyespyben... All logs were signed Team H (Huntly) R (Rotorua) P (Papamoa).

Our original plan was to complete the Hakarimata Northern Walkway this weekend. However, the weather deteriorated and we chickened out... An alternative was suggested by our Huntly friends - Let's go up to Highbrook (Auckland). It seems that this location is getting a lot of attention at the moment, with a lot of new placements in the area.

A tree stump... We looked about for one. Surely not... TFTC.

28-Feb-19
Easy when you find the right way in
All ok
Added pen
Thanks!

03-Oct-18
This one hadn’t been found for over 6 months so I had my doubts. Still, went looking during a work lunch break, found the shortest way to GZ, and soon found the cache thanks to the useful hint and nice sized container. All dry and signed. TFTC

08-Feb-18
Finding a parking spot for this one that wasn't miles away was a bit tricky... but I eventually found somewhere and then worked out the best route to GZ. Once at GZ the signal was a bit jumpy due to tree cover but using the hint helped Smile TFTC!

14-Apr-17
Aiden29, Jag50 and I decided to clear the caches in Highbrook today. No problems with parking around here today and after a short walk I almost did a merlot slide on the pine needles heading down to the cache which I found in the first place I looked

14-Apr-17
Joined up with Merlot58 and Aiden29 on a quiet public holiday so had the place to ourselves. Followed our noses towards GZ and watched as Merlot58 slid on the pine needles down to the cache!

14-Apr-17
Made plans with Jag50 and merlot58 to find all the caches in Highbrook. Thankfully it was a public holiday, so no trouble with parking or any workers around today.

09-Jul-16
Yet another stretch of pleasant green, but you have to get the access just right.
No parking on the roads in this area, but business car parks are empty at the weekend mostly.
Coffee is available, but no public toilets nearby .
Closed for the weekend.
TFTC

Got to GZ and Mr beconaze trotted off in the direction of the cache. He quickly had it in hand but didn't have the pen. Threw the cache to Mrs beconaze who made a meal of catching it, it rolled back to Mr and had another go. eventually got the log signed and cache replaced

31-Dec-15
Found it with social biz guy. Tftc. Smile

26-Dec-15
Needed a cache today as I am currently attempting a 50-day caching streak with some geo-buddies. This one was reasonably close to home, and one of the Highbrook ones I had been saving for that reason.
So on our way out, stopped in here with Mr NewlynFam, who can occasionally be convinced to come caching with me..... only very occasionally, though!!!
Pulled up and parked, very quiet here today, being Boxing Day! Absolutely not a soul to be seen anywhere. A quick walk to GZ, and once we figured out the best way in, carefully navigating the steep slope and a nearby gorse bush (that makes it sound harder than it was lol, it actually wasn't too bad!), it was a quick find in the cache title location!
11
Dropped a TB and signed log.

TFTC!
This was day #35 of 50.

29-Nov-15
Nice sunny Sunday afternoon to find some cache. This one had me on my backside......but it was for a good cause - another smiley face. TFTC

No problems with parking as Steed was on his bike, but he left his hi-vis invisibility jacket in the car, and this was the perfect place to wear it! TFTC.

08-Feb-15
Time to revisit Highbrook! A few more caches since my last visit, and great timing on a Sunday morning with only the odd person/car around.

I had absolutely no clue how to get to gz - no sign of any paths, all seemed fenced off. Finally noticed a place to come through next to a fence, so I was off. A piece of cake after that Wink TFTC!!

10-Jan-15
Have been meaning to get this one for a while but have just never got to it. Was on way home to grab a few things before the event in Botany and knew we would be far too early so a small detour was in order. Got to GZ and quickly spotted a likely suspect but got waylaid as one of the little ones fell slightly right onto some prickles - lucky no one was around to hear the crying otherwise there would have been no caching after that!

Nice quick find and we were on our way. Thanks for the cache.

10-Jan-15
Mum went down first and made the find. Laval hurt his hand. It was nice and easy to find.

Thanks for the lovely cache.

10-Jan-15
Mum found this one because I had hurt my hand as I fell on some prickles so was not very happy.

Thanks for geocache.

03-Jan-15
I was back in the Highbrook area today to collect any remaining unfound caches. This was a quick and easy find after spotting the likely hiding spot on my approach. TFTC!

02-Jan-15
Nice quick find for master 10, tftc Smile

21-Nov-14
No worries for me to park in the business carpark, for all they know I could be there to repair the trees, mow the grass or whatever excuse I can come up with if approached.... Off course I have a lawnmower in the car, doesn't everybody as a usual tool of caching?? I might need one to get to the cache.

06-Oct-14
We had thought about attempting this one a few months ago but Mr Gernita was too much of a wimp to park the car in the carpark of the local company. This time we were with CODE Hill and didn't have the same worries - not our car! Wandered over to the GZ and the cache was soon in hand.
TFTC! Wink

05-Oct-14
5th of the day with GERNITA. Nice easy find. TFTC.

29-Sep-14
I'm lost! Found it though. Log is full but enough room on the back of the Geocache info paper for plenty of log entries. Cheers.

22-Jul-14
Finished early at customer and saw this cache just around the corner. Nice morning for a quick stretch of the legs prior to next appointment. Loverly little park. Thanks for bring me here. Easy find once I had located car park. TFTC

19-Jul-14
Smile Found while for a bit of a walk with Mrs McMike2012 before heading off to do a few messages nearby. Could see a couple of people out walking dogs but didn't get close enough to see if one was Josie. There were still a few in the area to do, but weren't sure how many that we'd have time to do - ended up with 5 this morning, this being the 2nd, so not a bad effort! TN:LN:SL. TFTC. #600 for us.

Was doing some mapping and noticed the GPS said cache nearby. So that's what a tree stump looks like! Nice hide, thanks.

12-Jan-14
Nice quick find. I left a TB but can't find its code again. I must have lost the paper where I had written it on. I'll try to go back to the cache when I can and get the TB code. TFTC

Update: returned to the cache I wrote down code again. All good to go!
