Good find! Never knew this place or road existed. Taught some waiting cyclists about this silly little game (which we enjoy immensely). TFTC.
Has a look around the base of the tree with no luck, maybe didnt look hard enough, a couple of utes drove up as I was nearly ready to give up, so called it DNF.
It was such a beautiful day we decided a trip to the area, picking up a few caches would be a great way to spend the afternoon. We stopped here on our way to the carpark. No problems finding the cache. Thanks for putting it here
There are about 15 caches in the western part of the forest I haven't found yet. They are spread over too large an area to get all in one trip; the purpose of today's trip was to get about half of them. My circuit took me from the park at Campbell's Mill Road up to Mauganui, along to Titi, and returning to the start via the gravel roads - about 20km all up (including two or three wrong turns!)
This is where I parked the car, so it was my first find of 7. Nice and quick find using the hint. TFTC.

After finding the last one we noticed that the road continued and there were 2 more caches. Superb views of the coast. Mr CD soon spotted this cache. TFTC
I was concerned after reading previous log, but it's as described, and completely dry and in good condition .
Needed a break from work, so came for a drive up here to pick up this cache. Quick find, as per hint. Tftc!
Quick after school trip up the valley for a couple of caches. Awesome views on the way!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks ADV, and agcnz for placing and maintaining this cache
It was dark when I returned from a short bike ride along Perhams road, but still managed to spot the manuka and retrieved this one.

Since I had to drive past this to return to the highway (having been in the forest starting from the Perhams Road entrance) I make a point of stopping to have a look. The GPS and hint directed me to what initially seemed like the logical place but cache sense then told me otherwise (well that and not finding a cache). But then I saw the "other" hint object which must have been only a metre away but being around the other side it was surprisingly unobvious. I've still never been into the forest via this entrance and I guess I don't have a reason to now. Thanks for the Park and Grab to finish off the day for me.
finally Found after searching the correct tree, dont know why I picked the other first as the correct one made more sense, thanks for the placement
Nice day walk along Campbell Mills Rd. Picked this up in the way back. Little wet inside but log looked dry enough. No pen so took a photo. Left a little gift.
A nice quick find while on our way back from picking up the new Big Bang Revisited cache. This is the first time I've been up this road, I must return and check out the track. Thanks for placing a cache here.
Found this one after logging "Big Bang Revisited" too good to miss really as it was on the same road. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.
#6641. Have been planning on a big day out in Whareroa and Akatarawa for some time. Today was the day. A fine sunny forecast with light winds and mild temperatures. Perfect for a long hike. And long it was. By the end of the walk I had 47,000 steps on my fitbit and blisters on my feet. Yep can feel the legs now. Parked the car at Campbell's Mill Road end and set off on a hike to Orange hut and the top of Titi. The redband gumboots were fine for the first 20 km. Only the downhill section at the end caused me some grief as blisters set in on the hard gravel roads. But enough moaning. It was a fun day out mainly. About 650m of vertical climbing and approx. 23 km walked. A pretty useful effort.
This cache was just 20m from the car but had to save it until I got back from the walk as a muggle parked metres from it before I had a chance to grab it earlier today. Spied the correct tree and the container was soon in hand. Signed the logbook, and replaced the cache as found. Thanks ADV and agcnz for the cache.

Cycled up to get this one - a wait for logging truck to pass.

Passed two grass cutting tractors on the road 'carefully' and got to the GZ where the cache was found on a cold wet day. Thanks CO for the cache.
Well it's the WENZ Mega Weekend and a plan was hatched to motorhome (as we thought it would make a difference from sleeping in a car which is our normal accomodation method) down here in the company of HKCB, & 11HPG11 (and connecting up with Alpenmilch80 later today) and head for a few caches along the way.
As time was of the essence and we had planned to spend bugger all time at the actual mega but rather head for specific caches that we would otherwise not collect.
The record keeping for this trip was a total of 1750kms, (fuel = $450) and less than 100 caches, plenty of Beer & Wine and I still call it a complete success as we got what we came for.
Following the Big Mountain Virtual we collected this one on the way out, and fortunatly for others (we were in a 6 Berth camper van) we had the road to our selves
thanks for the palcement

MEGA TRIP 2018.
As usual with the annual MEGA event, we partook in our annual MEGA Trip. However this year was a little different from others, with much more sleep and a little less time caching than usual, but just as much fun being had along the way.
The general goal for the trip was to focus on all the new Virtual caches published over the last year, visiting Cape Palliser (for the Southern most cache in the NI), and Castle Point, along with spending time at the MEGA Event. With this in mind hiring a campervan from Hamilton and seemed like the best way to tackle this goal, plus sleeping in a car with four people, would just be too cramped!
The trip was a great success, and our goals were achieved. A big thanks to all CO's for there hides.
LEG 2: Virtuals and exploring Wellington: Todays plan was to tackle the two new Wellington region virtuals, plus a few of other caches we had on the must do list.
Found while on the way out from finding the nearby Virtual.

It's Mega time! This year we decided to hire a motorhome and travel down in relative luxury, very different to the last few years. Our team this year consisted of Cats&Dragons, HKCB and later on Alpenmilch80, and myself, logs were signed as MEGAHOAC. We went on a bit of a whirlwind trip round the lower half of the north island, chasing virtuals, earthcaches and anything a little bit different.
A little bit of creative parking on the way out from climbing Big Mountain. Legs were a little tired but thankfully the cache was soon found.

On the way back from the carpark to the Big Mountain Virtual we had to wait for a Log Hauler to go along the road which was gouing to take several minutes. So we walked to the GZ where I signed the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

Slight change in coordinates as the replacement cache is just a few metres away from the old spot. These should be pretty accurate, they are averaged using a Garmin 64s with a large number of satellites in view.

Called here this morning on a day in the Kapiti area. Yes the area has changed somewhat, the hint sign has gone and no sign of the cache. I have placed a new cache in a slightly different spot and updated the hint. Go for it!
Could the CO please check this one? The hint seems to have disappeared; the sign for the Mill has changed and there is a for sale notice for a section further up the side road. We looked long and hard to no avail.
Great walk along this track to a lookout at the top of whareroa farm. Looked for this cache on the way out. No phone service so maybe app and coordinates out. Could decipher the hint! Alas need to leave it and come back another day to search with keen eyed companions.
Passing this way so could not resist stopping All basically in good order but log a bit damp Could sign it easily TFTC
As I was in Wellington at a four day conference at the Michael Fowler Centre, and as it was the third day and my head needed some fresh air... what better way to have a break than by finding a few caches with a couple of really good friends that I had just introduced to this whole thing called geocaching. So welcome aboard RoaminBilly and StillSeeking! Campbell's Mill Rd was the fourth cache of the day and by now RoaminBilly was getting pretty amped, and thanks to this find he decided to become a premium member. It was quite amusing. Anyway, after we arrived at GZ, both RoaminBilly and StillSeeking zeroed in on the cache area pretty quickly and I found it... a great team effort. So thank you ADV for taking the time to set up this cache. We really appreciated your efforts! I have included a couple of photos as a part of this log. Awesome job!
# Will this be the last one for the day or this drive.... #
Interesting. Cars parked near by with people oblivious to what is at hand. This is fun. Also found a trackable so a new part of this hobby is being experienced.

Great Easter Monday find with my 4 year old. He took a diamond and left a car What a great spot! TFTC
Cache # 3,047 - Had a picnic on Valley Raod today, so continued on up afterwards with Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly to grab this cache. A quick find and all is well. Never knew about this road, and surprised it was paved the whole way - was expecting gravel. TNLNSL. TFTC!

#2109 Found while waiting for others to arrive for a MTB ride to Akatarawa forest and back. Nice quick hide and a bonus for the day. Will come back another day for the others on the trail. TFTC!
Found today after a good walk up Whareroa then along Campbell's Mill Road. TFTC
A Whareroa/Akatarawa excursion. MTB transport used.
Made our way here via Makin' Tracks.
Once at GZ, a straightforward find. The paddock next to the entrance plays host to new born spring lamb at this time of the year. Good one.
Cache in order; log signed, then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too

Came across a goat, a pig and her 5 babies while heading here. Nice views near the top. Left SWAG. TFTF
Had to return to the exact hide after passing over it too lightly and missing the cache the first time. Have ridden & walked part of this track before, but not from this point.
Out on a bit of a cache-hunt and hill-walk with the youngest geo-son.

Nice easy find, although my GPS reads the cache coordinates out by about 15 metres. No problem though with such a good hint.
I spent a lot of time up here as a kid and teen, I remember the valley being a popular place on most weekends, until all the picnic areas were closed off. I thought about lacing a few caches further along the valley, to try and encourage more people to visit this great spot. TFTC.

Found it during a car trip with the dogs. Big spider next to the cache but found it easily with the hint. Tftc
Detour onto a road we haven't travelled before. Enjoyed the views on the way up. Cache located without trouble and returned back down the hill with plans to return at some stage. Passed cyclists on the way down, I wouldn't be game for that hill! With metal-art.
Long road up but great views from the top. 4th cache for the afternoon. With Jax479 TFTC
This was my first ever trip up the Maungakotukutuku's. Amazing how much colder it was up here this evening TFTC
Many years ago I worked with a couple of crazy mountain bikers and once a week we would ride home from Te Roto Drive to Paraparaumu Beach via Campbell's (or as we called it) "Old Mill Road". Yes, a little out of our way!!! Collecting this cache brought back so many memories that I walked almost to the gate before I thought to look at the GPS. Oops, back I went! SLTFTC
Started the day earlier by biking up Perhams road then walking up to the Top of Titi. Decided to do the Downhill part down Campbell's Mill Road grabbing the caches on the way past. This is the last of the day and my legs are certainly feeling it. Quickly found and discovered not found for 11 months making this my third lonely cache of the day for a lonely cache challenge. What a great day on the bike. I will definitely sleep well tonight. TFTC
#210. Have been walking up to Top of Titi from the adventure tours just up the road, over to the Akatarawa confluence, and back down via Campbells Mill Road. Now that I got this one I'm finally back in civilisation and so now it's a short walk back to the car and then I'm going straight to Wendy's in Paraparaumu for a chicken burger and a frosty float!!! Long day. TFTC
Found this on my second atempt, after a quick look in the dark another time after a hunt for a different cache. Found it quite easily this time. Thanks for the cache.
Day 73 of my 2nd attempt at the 100 day challenge. The GPS wanted me to go to the other side of the track, but eventually saw the error of its ways and pointed me towards the hint object, and the find was then relatively straightforward. However the return was less so. Whilst signing the log in my car, two trampers arrived, sat down in full view of GZ and started eating their lunch! I was therefore left with no option but to muggle the cache and return it once the rest of the family had finished their nearby orienteering event. So if anyone looked for this between 1pm and about 2.30 this afternoon, my apologies. TFTC though.
Haven't been up the road for ages. Easy trip now it is sealed compared to what it was like in the past. We used to drive right to the end of Campbell's Mill Road and actually mapped a farm and forest area there back in the late 70's. Quick find today. TFTCSL
Nice little jaunt on a beautiful morning after some garbage weather earlier in the week. T4TCSL
Last find of the day as we drove back up to pick up 1Grunta's car which was parked nearby. Very enjoyable walking and about 18km covered in all. TFTC !
Had parked one car here while walking to Akatarawa Confluence, the Old Bridge, and out via Whareroa Farm.
Left this cache until the end of the day, as the Confluence was my 1000th find.
Body was feeling rather stiff as I got out of the car here.
GPSr was directing me one way, while Broadbridges spotted the clue behind me.

Almost gave up on this one but persisted and eventually had the cache in hand. Thanks very much.
Thought I would check this out even though previous person had a did not find - But it was there - Great day for a ride. TFTC
11.20am. Coords seemed to be a long way out but went with instinct and hint for a quick find. Surprised to have a sealed road up here. Perhaps I've been in Northland too long!
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Netty decided to drive out this way to see what was here. I suggested we may as well look for this cache while we were here. The treasure was nicely hidden but was quickly found. It looks like I will have to return with some time on my hands for a "wander".
We were in the area so decided to take a bit of a detour as I had not been up this road before. Unfortunately we didn't have the mtbs with us today so will have to return with them at another time to explore the area further. No problems with the find as master fozzmiester soon had the cache in hand. TFTC
We decided to make the most of this excellent May weather and check out the MTB track through Whareroa farm park. A very enjoyable ride, with great views - about an hour to the cache at "recreational" pace. No problems finding the cache with the hint - coordinates were spot on, thanks ADV.
After a lot of grovelling in the long grass courtesy of my GPS, used common sense and went to the side where there was evidence ofprevious searches. Then a quick find. Should have read the logs... SL, TFTC.
Enjoyed the views on the way to here. Took a little while to locate as it had been well hidden. TFTC
#2311. For some reason, the GPS pointed to the other side of the road. But quick find in the end. TNLNSL. TFTC.
A quick find before heading off up the Mill Road. This entry point looks like a fairly recent addition. The signs all have a rather new look about them. TNLN SL TFTC
A quick and easy find at the start of a day's biking and tramping to see if I could score all the new caches in this area (I did!). Signed log, TFTC then onwards and upwards on the bike to the next one.
On the MTB with the cache owner. Great to have this area populated. Good work ADV.
Thanks for the cache.

Joint FTF with 3 others. Was writing up the find to another cache when this went live tonight. Quick call from another cacher had us all heading up and out the door at 9.45pm and had cache in hand by 10.05pm. Pleasant quick find.# 494 T4TC #77 FTF @ 10.05 pm
4th to *FTF* on this one. As soon as I saw this one published got on the phone to skeetinnz as I was sure that he, horsediva & Knight Teddy would want to go for the find. They agreed to wait for me to drive down from Waikanae (at best possible speed) and we went together to cache with horsediva kindly doing the driving. A nice quick find at site for the four of us.
