We did not expect to find this one based on the logs but like the last finder we decided to drop a cache to see how long this lasts. We hope that you will find it. It is a smaller plastic container, not a lock n lock but should seal well. Best of luck. Signed for the CCC team, MissPeach13, WRTagaong, Kteeeee and some muggles.

Today I wanted to do lots of caches on the island and unfortunately started with this one.
I liked the route and read most of the signs but did not find the cache. I felt a bit stupid as I was afraid of snakes so I did not walk further into the bushes... I maybe was just blind but spend too much time there...

On our second and final day on Rottnest, Ms Atalanta and I went on a leisurely walk which involved some caches.
Rottnest is a lovely place; clean, laid back, and if we hadn’t just come in from India, I would have said overrun by bicycles. The quokkas are cute, but I think I could quickly get over them!
Anyway, thanks for the cache which we found quite quickly.

Pretty straight forward, but the area is now decorated with a No Entry sign. This is in regard to an unstable cliff top, which is nowhere near the cache. Still, the CO should address it.

I needed some help from a previous log here. Before that I was circling and circling for ages! Very pleased to find it eventually.
Cache is behind a 'No Entry' sign now, might require maintenance....
Thanks for the cache. I enjoyed the walk along the old railway to get here, and there was a seat with some great views on the way back.

There is now a sign saying no access, maybe the cache can be moved a bit in the future. Nice spot though

Who would of thought that a chance meeting at a first to find last week would lead to a massive Rottnest onslaught.
Rottnest has been in my to do list for quite some time now but I never quite got around to it. Speaking to Barnzy12 we both realised we had a day off the following week and plans were made, with Lachlan1.77 joining in on the fun.

Leaving home at 5am we met up and made sure we were aboard the first ferry out of freo - The Quokka1.

Lachlan the experienced cyclist in the group brought his bike across whilst Barnzy and I opted to leave ours at home and hired the electric bikes as I knew my dodgy knees would not stand up to the hilly terrain that is Rottnest.

We trekked across the island in an anti clockwise direction. I had forgotten how beautiful this island really is, making for plenty of photo opportunities Despite being school holidays most of the beaches were deserted and we had very little trouble with muggles and only one slithery thing encountered at 'The blowholes.'

One thing I did notice was how much friendlier the quokkas were away from the settlements in the quieter areas of the island with one group being particularly friendly and the babies quite adventurous and curious of our belongings.

The highlights were definitely the locations but there was still a good variety of hides available and the earth cache numbers were fantastic and much needed. We had come prepared supplying maintence to all caches that required it replacing logs, cracked lids and replacing the one cache that was confirmed missing.

It was a hard slog at times especially trying to do it all in one day but we managed the 40 caches with time to spare which allowed for time to reflect and enjoy a well earned cold one before we caught the ? wave riding roller coaster.

Yet another amazing spot I hadn't been to, nearly stacked it on the way up to this one on the sandy tracks but it was well worth the great history. TFTC paddington

Out for a day on Rotto with some other crazy people, with the intention being to nab all the caches on the island. Razz We were worried that time was going to be an enemy today, but we blitzed through them all and even had time for a quick beer (always important) before the boat back to Freo. I ended up with 36 finds for the day, having already previously found 4 caches on the Island. We even found a cache that had been archived for almost 4 years! Surprised We have conducted maintenance for all caches in need, including; replacing logs, lids and caches altogether. All in all, a successful day out at Rotto! [^]

We made the hard trek along the soft sandy track in. Thankfully we skirted along the railway on the way out, which was a lot easier. An interesting location! Cheers paddington! Big Grin

A big caching day out to Rottnest Island that has been on the pipeline for too long but never quite eventuated, but with a timeslot open today, plans were set. joined up with locals WebblyWA and Lachlan1.77 for an action packed day.

We all met in Fremantle at 6am, to depart on the 7am ferry to Rotto. We had done some pre work for this trip grabbing some information on a multi in Bold Park in times long gone by. Got into the Island, and walked over to the bike hire place, to rent an electric bike for WebblyWA and myself, as we are inexperienced cyclists.

We cached the various bays of the Island, starting on the Northern side of the island, working our way to the Extremities of the west end and back to the settlement via the Southern side of the island.

I don’t remember much from my last rotto visit back in 2002, some 16-17 years ago, but the island does look different. The island had some amazing sights, I was shocked that beautiful beaches were deserted, because there was something even more picturesque around the corner.

We enjoyed the great variety of containers on our travels and the amazing locations that the various COs including the Rottnest Island Authority have decided to share with us. The number of Earthcaches really helped complete a fulfilling caching experience.

We completed our days caching around 4pm and retired to a local establishment for a well earned “coldie” before the rough ferry journey home.

A good days effort with all 39 caches on the island found, and another found in fremantle on the way home that we did all the leg work for on the island

Thanks to WebblyWA and Lachlan1.77 for a great days caching.

For our second day on Rottnest I was sent out to grab the remaining traditionals and two finales if possible, while the rest of the family chilled on the beach. It was a perfect day for either activity. Passed up this one yesterday as it was so windy and the obvious path seemed to be a sandy bog. This time approached from a rockier track and got most way up before pushing through the sand until I hit the train tracks - bonus! Easy riding to GZ then. Had to use cache radar, appropriately for an ex-military installation, to locate the cache maybe 6-7m away from my GZ. Stunning views and a really quiet side of the island. Amazing to think of gun crews sitting out the war here waiting for something to happen. TFTC!

This was my final find on rottnest island, and possibly might be my last WA find too, as we are back home to NZ tomorrow. I would have loved to have more time to explore in this area as it looked very interesting, but it was a bit of a speed geocaching session this morning, finding a few caches that were missed yesterday, filling in the final half hour before boarding our home bound ferry.

I found the two I was aiming for, and had a few minutes spare, so decided to continue on to get this one too..combo of walking and cycling to cover the distance as quick as possible.

When I got close, I read the description and checked all likely spots....but found nothing. I re-read the description and searched again... but still nothing. With time not being on my side, and desperation kicking in i had one final hunt ignoring the hint, and trusting my geo-instinct instead...and whoop whoop...there she was! Quickly signed the log, then back to Thompson bay as fast as my little legs could pedal.

Thanks for the fun.

After our Parisian trip in the first week of the Easter holidays, we (i and my husband Voske1967) went for 3 weeks to the other side of the world to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, food, landscapes and culture of Australia. We came to Rottnest for the day and obviously had to combine it with geocaching.

This was our last find of the day on the island. It is another place we would never have found if it weren't for our hobby. We had a very pleasant walk here and then noticed little piles of rocks - they were decoys. We had to walk a little further on before a quick find.

It was now time to return and have a nice cool drink at the Rottnest Hotel reflecting on our lovely day and watching quokkas dart between the tables! This gets a favourite for taking us on such an interesting walk. TFTC and Greetings from Cyprus

Terrific views here, and an easy find thanks to the good hint.

Mrs Jackylegs was determined that we were going to come over to Rottnest today, despite the dire weather forecast and the expected crowds of people heading over for the Rottnest Carnivale 2017 Event. We were fortunate enough to be on the maiden voyage of the new Sealink ferry "Quokka 1", which gave us a very speedy trip over to the island. Mrs Jacklylegs didn't think it was quick enough though as she succumbed to a bout of sea sickness, but she was looked after by a young attractive deckhand, so not all grim, and she did recover very quickly once back on solid ground.

We encountered a cute furry inhabitant of the island on the walk out towards the nearest unfound caches. So of course we had to stop and let West Oz Geocaching's mascot trackable "Woz" get acquainted and have her photo taken with her distant relative. I had to drag Mrs Jackylegs away after a while or she would have spent all day oohing and aahing over the creature, and the caches were calling out to us to get a move on while the weather held out.

After rectifying a previous dnf over at the turbine, we ambled out this way via a couple of earthcaches. Loved the scenery as we walked and bussed our way around the island, stopping for caches here and there along the way.

This was my last cache of the day, and one I did on my own before again joining up with Mrs Jacklegs and having to hot-foot it back in time to catch the ferry back to the mainland. Sadly there was no trackable inside the cache, but I was consoled with the sighting of a mother quokka and her juvenile offspring - very cute. But the large snake I saw shortly after wasn't such a welcome sight. Such is life in paradise!

Thanks for the smiley I earned here, and for the excuse to come back and visit this beautiful island. Cheers Paddington.

This container was today's target... as it would fill a void in my hidden month statistics... and it was conveniently located on an island I wanted to visit anyway. So here I was with a perfect rental bike (everything worked - including brakes and 3 gears!). On top of this there was a great view to be taken in and even two sweet cachewardens who were kind enough to just watch me signing the logbook.
Thanks heaps paddington for the hide at this great location!

Net88 and I decided we should visit Perth for six days, chiefly to go geocaching, visit what scenery we could and meet some quokkas. Neither of us have been to Western Australia before so it's a packed week with today being the highlight; visiting Rottnest Island. Personally, I have seen all the major players in the macropod family in Australia, except for the smallest, which we want to catch sight of today.

This is our second day and we have an early start to catch our booked ferry down the Swan, across the Indian and to the island. That trip alone was super enjoyable and upon our arrival on the island, grabbed our hired pushbikes and set off to escape the crowds of tourists.

We love old geocaches, so this one made our shortlist and we decided would be our first attempt. We left Kingstown and headed south, along the increasingly empty roads, through an old barracks and up the hill. Net was a bit less practised at bike riding than me, but we pedalled along at a comfortable pace and nobody fell off.

Eventually we followed the old railway line and pushed our bikes the last little bit up to the battery. Here we explored a bit and I was amazed at the history here! Onto the geocache and I made a quick find. We sat on the nearby seat to sign the logbook and admire this beautiful part of the world. What a magnificent natural beauty! The quokkas would be a bonus on top of visiting such amazing views.

As we sat a tiny green snake came up to say hello, then slithered off into the grass. He startled Net but I could see he was just inquisitive. After taking many photos, the geocache was returned, we saddled up again and zoomed down the hill to head a bit farther west (every metre being the farthest from home I've ever been!). Thanks for this geocache and keeping it going so long, Paddington Smile

Captain Terror and I were spending the week in Perth. I had wanted to visit WA for quite some time, it is the last Australian state/territory for me to visit. We had made a list of geocaches that we wanted to find and this cache had made the list. Today we were off to Rottnest Island! I had wanted to visit Rottnest Island ever since I learnt what a Quokka was and today was finally the day I got to go!

We had hired bikes to get around the island since Captain Terror loves riding his bike and whilst I don't ride regularly at all, I can do it ... so I thought it would be a good idea. By the time we got to this cache I was just getting used to riding again.. it had been some years since I used something that wasn't in a gym! I was a little scared about falling off so I didn't want to go too fast which meant we got here at snails pace.

We arrived at GZ and after exploring nearby Captain Terror found the cache, we sat down at a chair to take in the view and I was suddenly brought back from my daydreaming by a snake slithering past my feet into the bush in front of us. I froze and told Captain Terror... who laughed at me for being scared.. something along the lines of he is more scared of you blah blah blah.

Thankfully we got back onto the bikes without any extra excitement and I got relaxed with the bike and zoomed down the rail tracks towards the next cache. Thanks for the cache paddington.

After many hours of flight and many hours of working with UWA to deploy some oceanographic robots, we made it out to Rottnest for a bit of leisure, some biking, and of course some caching. A grand total of 15 finds and no DNF's today. Not bad! And hello from New Jersey, USA!

#4 on our route today. This one is my favorite of the day, as it's a bit more off the beaten path (road, at least) and brings some amazing history along with it. I loved seeing all the old bunkers, rails, etc. on the island, and this spot offered some amazing views as well. Made the quick grab and replaced as found. You get a blue ribbon for this one for bringing me to such an awesome place. Tfth!
