On a road trip together with -moge-; across New Zealand; from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island; up, down, right, left ... So much to see, so much to experience. So many great, and sometimes old, caches! But I can hardly keep up with the logging. Far too exhausted from all the experiences. I am sorry that it will now be a standardized log for some founds.
Hello bumandworker,Another day, another Cache.Together with Dr Donna travelling through New Zealand. We arrived at Auckland Airport and made our way up north. After visiting Cape Reinga we went on our way South to reach Stewart Island with stops in many different Citys all over the country. Of course we have an open eye for nice Caches but take what we can get. Today we came across your Cache "And the Earth Moved (West Coast)" and signed the logbook with our names or took pictures for Virtuals or Earthcaches and answered all questions asked. Its great how many nice spots we are able to discover through our journey and how many of them we only See because of Geocaching! Thanks for bringing us to this place and takeing care for the geocache. Liebe Gre und vielen Dank fr die Hege und Pflege deines Traditional Cache! -moge-#############Der Cache "And the Earth Moved (West Coast)" von "bumandworker" war fr mich Cache 6782. I was unable to locate this one earlier in the day and not being able to read any logs due to no coverage I had to wait until my return before making a quick find at the first place I looked..tftc
Not sure you would call this a quick drive by...I was looking for the EQ fault and KL was sniffing out the cache..I could sense the frustration as we had very poor coverage and very little to go on..except I was guessing this C.O. type of hide...and yep not as easy as it as the D rating indicates...it is well camoed by nature..the container
Was full of water after spening some time and effort drying the cache we found a small spare space too sign ...the C.O may like to break out with some tlc and maybe refresh the D rating and breif..thanks B&W

We had extremely limited phone coverage here and no where to pull over in a large vehicle- or was there? Macwatt soon found "space" and off we went, excited to see something. But first the cache. We went on instinct. I located it but couldn't extract it. Macwatt just moved the stone duh! The cache was very wet and unloved. Now for the view. What view. I'm not sure what we were supposed to see. Maybe the vegetation has grown up. Thanks for the placement bumandworker
Day 9 - Labour weekend extended road trip with Kiwicampnut - relocated to stay south of the ditch.
Despite the old sign indicating a view, there is now so much close growth that its hard to see over the river, and what can be seen seems to have also regenerated.
Looked for the cache without luck. Lots of rubbish. Gave up

On a trip with Ruru_NZ to gather the tour caches needed or in my case not done yet. Should be able to knock them off on this trip.
Looked in obvious place but too much rubbish and dog shit that we gave up. Last found over a year ago so probably gone

No memorial here. Good parking and not where I spent a lot of time looking. We stayed another night atGreymouth. Look out my friend Ethness is in town. We are back to DoubleTrouble. We are driving from Greymouth to Nelson today. Thanks bumandworker for placing this geocache it is find 8245 for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.

The third day of our road road trip and we are having lots of laughs, hunting hard and signing logs. Signed NE as I am caching with Nosynel. TFTC and apologies for the generic log.

Tried for this one last time in area (15 months ago) without success. Think was raining and container colour didnt stand out (or just wasnt in the right space!). TFTC
Great little find. Plenty of muggles around, stealth is required. Thank you for the cache.
I didn't know exactly which place here is the famous one.
Anyway we found the box quickly

We are on an extented Waitangi Weekend cruising around the Coast. Today we drove through to Hanmer Springs, via the Upper Buller gorge. Weather is more overcast today, but still great for touring and caching.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Another one I couldnt find 3 years ago. The coords are still pointing to tje car park, but I decided to give the usualy areas a go again.. it wasn't until I, in frustration, gave something a slight nudge, it turned up. Yay!

A nice spot to view the slip, thanks for bringing us here. Eventually found the cache, but took a few minutes. All good otherwise. TFTC B&W.
Today was day one of 7 on a trip around the South Island for Jo and I, and the first leg is Blenheim to Hokitika. An early start and on our road trip we targeted caches after St Arnaud. That was the desired plan, but necessitated by the fact it was still dark as we drove through there anyway. After that it was pretty much find anything on our side of the road as we drove west, but as we moved on we set goals to be in certain towns by certain times, so skipped large chunks. The weather changed from light drizzle to full on rain, which also scuppered some plans on targeted caches and left us cold and wet for most of the trip.
But all up a good day.
Jo used to live in these parts, but hasn’t been here for about 16 years; for me it has been about 13 since a trip down here. So we enjoyed the scenery, and the changes, and also the caches so credit and thanks to all the COs for maintaining these.

Based back in Murchison for the afternoon. Even with the temp was ranging from 28C to 31C caching still must be done. It seemed that other things also moved [xx(] at this spot judging from what I saw lying on the ground very near the cache. Yuk. TFTC B&W.
We planed our trip to New Zealand for a long time and had four weeks for both islands. We enjoyed every minute of this journey and had great adventures. Of course we also found some caches on the way. For some more details please read the log of LSOEVE.

We spent 3 weeks in NZL for our holiday and visited both islands. I can't tell which spot was the most beautiful. The hole country was amazing and we had a really great time. Of course we had some time to look for some caches.

Away for a few days holiday during the school break. After a couple days in Westport now heading for Richmond/Nelson for some family catching up. Woah, cool spot. Cheers.
Found with NZDi. We had been intending to do a trip to the Coast after a workmate and fellow geocacher came back from a Christmas camping holiday and dropped a map of walks around Westport on my desk. On comparing the walk and geocaching maps, it was apparent to see there was plenty of scope for a geocaching holiday or three to the coast. The only thing we needed to ensure ws that the weather played the game, unlike when my workmate had her Christmas break there. Knowing that we had the weekend free this weekend I kept an eye on the forecast for the coast and it was looking pretty good, so a motel was booked and a rudimentary and flexible geocaching plan was hatched.
The idea was to head to the Coast early on Friday morning picking up no more than half a dozen caches along the way. We limited ourselves to this as we know from previous experience that it can take over six hours to do an hour and a quarter trip if you are geocaching as well.. Once we got to the coast, we were going to do the Cape Foulwind walk, then cache as much as we could from there back to town. We then intended to do as much of the K.R.T caches before retiring for the night and in the morning do the Charming Creek Walk before heading back home again picking up the odd cache along the way. In the end it was mission achieved with 74 finds over two days and only one DNF along the way.
This cache was the six of the day having selected those along the route that appeared to be on the right (left) side of the road and which also had safe parking available. It was also the final on our way to Westport as we want to get there today. This was another QEF Png at GZ and it was only as we were driving away that I realised I hadn't taken time to look at the earthquake damage.

On my way from Reefton to Mapua, I wanted to break the journey a little by finding one of all the caches along the route. Too bad it's only simple traditionals here. This one was found quickly. Thanks for hiding!
A quick find on way to Westport. My, I hadn't really looked close at how much the earthquake slip area has repaired itself in recent time. Thanks for making me more aware of this and TFTC
We flew into Invercargill to catch up with the rellies last week. Now its home to Wellington via West Coast with maybe a cache or two to break up the journey. Karamea to Nelson today.

#8687. A day trip to the West Coast on a rainy day. Stopped off Upper Buller Gorge Road in Inangahua for a look at the view of earthquake slip. The earth has been moving again … as we just had the M7.8 Kaikoura Earthquake on 14 November 2016. GZ was all quiet when we visited. This made for a quick and easy find. The cache container cap was missing, but the contents were still reasonably dry. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Went on a big adventure with Wafflekitties and geo pups, had a blast thanks for the memories! TFTC.
Found while on a winter holiday with LCBuilder and our two geodogs. We spent 3 weeks travelling down the east coast and then up the west coast, setting our tent up at a different campsite each night. We didn't have any real plan, just went where the caches took us we saw a lot of awesome sights and will definitely have to come back one day as 3 weeks isn't really that long!
On our way up to Sunny Nelson!
On our way up to Sunny Nelson!
A long weekend proved to be just what it said on the tin; a weekend that was long. With mrs capperz trapped in work for 2 of the 3 days this weekend a plan was made to head over to the West Coast for some caching, with the added bonus of some fine weather too. Forecast was for clear skies and low 4, high of 15 degrees, which is some preferred caching weather. Also in possession of a geocaching map of Westport being virgin territory there was every chance of finding a 'few'.
A slight chance of one of 2 FTFs in Westport and the bait was dangled and too good to not take a swipe at. Headed off at 0830 on Sunday and got back around 1830 on Monday so a full on couple of days with park n grabs, beachside specials and a walk along the Cape Foulwind walkway (there wasn't any wind, and it wasn't foul so thinking of renaming it Cape Nicesun.
Day 2 of our trip and most caches were on the Western side of the Buller river. We've now done the Cape Foulwind walkway so now it's time to find a 'few' more before, and as, we head towards home.
Heading back and revisiting previous D N Fs and not looked fors. How did I not find this one yesterday? Too many assumptions and looking way too high

The tour guide stopped here to show us what happened, and he would only stop if anyone wanted to take photos. After convincing him to stop, I then headed over to the cache, and as luck would have it, it was in the first place I looked. As I was signing the log, I heard the beeping of the van and the log had trouble getting out. I very nearly had the dilemma of whether I could count this as a find as it clearly was one, but circumstances beyond my control nearly made me not sign the log. Eventually I signed the log but not as neatly as I normally do, and rushed everything back into the cache making sure it was covered as the van edged forwards all the time. In the end no time for photos. TFTC.
I rolled the geomobile to a stop and hopped out for a look at the views down to the river
A yellow road sign intrigued me.
Not because it might hide the cache, but because what it said
Hardly any sign of what is written on the sign these days
Nature has covered it all over.
Though a bit further along the highway there is a more recent slippage
The cache was soon found after a bit of slipping down of me own

Another one I couldn't get my head around..The GPS wanted me to be in the middle of the parking area (I can see on the satellite image, that the cordinates have been put there too..).. All likely hiding spots were at least 5 metres away from GZ.. so which one could it be, and should I look high or low? I searched all possible things I could think of and then moved on.

There had to be a cache here. Well placed, the camper van people were all looking the other way, thanks b&w.

We were looking forward to this trip to New Zealand.
After hours of flight from Belgium we finally arrived, picked up our Road Trip Special and started going.
First we organised a little event to meet the locals. It was a blast and we've met some nice people!
After that we did a whole tour around the South Island in 3 weeks, sleeping in the car or our tent.
It was great!
A quick park and grab along the road. Nature can be really devastating sometimes.

12921… Many thanks for showing us this earthquake slip, hopefully there will be more settled times ahead.
Last time I came passed here in April there were large earthmovers insitu so couldn't stop. Today the GPS took me to the middle of the carpark. Did a couple of circles round the periphery but no luck. Thought I would come back tomorrow on my way back home but unfortunately had run out of time so will return next time I'm going past.
