#6440. I am staying in Auckland with the extended family. I need to find just two more caches to complete the NZ Jasmer challenge. Both of them are near Whangarei so a day trip was planned to drive north and pick up the target caches plus grab a few other old ones and any nearby caches while I still had enough time before driving back to Auckland in the evening. It was a stinking hot and fine summer's day in the north. With my two jasmer caches under the belt (Piroa Falls and Hugh Crawford) it was time to grab a few more local caches.
This cache: Back into the big smoke and off down this road to locate a few older caches. Headed down this side road to turn around so I could park near the caves. But saw there was a geocache in this spot. So pulled up and after a short search I saw the nicely camoed cache (thanks to the helpful hint). Signed the logbook and returned the cache as found. Thanks butters* for hiding the cache here. No aliens seen during the search.

Quick easy find here on our way to the caves. Cheers.
Sunday - day sixteen -Wandering Whangarei today in Toby. Zara gets another rest. So lets go exploring!!
Its another epic 3+ week geocaching adventure with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and William to the Far North. What an amazing place to explore. Lots of walks, gravel roads and sand. Lots of amazing trees, beaches and interesting POIs. Lots of kilometers traveled by vehicle and foot. Vehicle breakdowns, making new friends and catching up with old friends and family. Snagged a couple of FTF's, lots of lonely caches and the odd event along the way. Lots of cache maintenance and replaced caches on this trip. But what an incredible adventure!!. Thanks to all the CO's who have made this trip so memorable..

Area 51? Why? Oh! There it is! On our way to check out the caves.
Day sixteen of an awesome, tiring, long, three week holiday geocaching with Taybeedragon in the upper north. Today: Whangarei and Dargaville. The whole trip comprised of hours of walking on sand, sliding down sand dunes, hundreds of kilometres of unsealed roads, car breakdowns, paddling out to islands, lighthouses, dolphins, goats, events, FTFs, weird boulders. You name it, we saw it. Lots of bisons, lots of cache maintenance, lots of sunscreen. A month is enough. I am glad to be back home. Except that now I have to write up my trip. We averaged just 20 caches per day, but that is still a lot of logging!
Happy new Planetary Orbit from the Seagnoid!

TFTC.... a nice quick park and find once I knew what tree to look for. Very nicely camo'ed cache. MattTutaki who hadn't yet joined spotted this one but didn't log himself (as wasn't then a member until later in the day). Think this GC was reason for him to join
Did this on the way to Abbey Caves with our tangata today in hope I could retrieve the others but track was a bit difficult for our lot unfortunately.

Removed old wet log and replaced with waterproof paper within a secondary container, cache holding up well.
The parking was the trickiest part about this cache, spotted it as we arrived, but it is great camo! Thanks also for teaching us Matipo. We've spotted them since, I've always thought they were just another pitto.
As I crept up to the cache I noticed a building... but was it a building on closer inspection I noticed it was an ALIEN CRAFT. Oh no i thought to my self as I was on a mission to recover information that dared no to be in the hands like those of aliens. As I slowly approached the vial with the information I heard a car! so I quickly ducked down hoping no one would see me as it would be disaster if it were to happen. Now I clutched the vial with my cold sweaty hand and slowly looked everywhere to see no one was looking then I slowly opened it up to get the all important information and then replaced it. Then as I had one last look towards the alien craft I saw one huge alien step out as quickly as I could I raced to the car jumped in and sped off hoping I had not been seen.
This one took us a while. We'd had a good steak going all day and did not want a dnf here. Our GPS led us astray but the clues got us to gz. A well camouflaged hide, thanks Butters
What a sick sense of humor you have! Dismissed "tree" to start with then turned around and there it was. Great camo Butters* Thanks for the cache
Nice camo....just the way I would do it..ha.ha...thanks Butters for a tidy we cache
Out to keep the 2017 streak going and get some more at the back of Parahaki.
Parked up on the side of the road and made a quick find of the well camo'd cache while keeping a close eye out for aliens.

This box has an excellent camouflage.

Hiked to and thru the caves today. Grabbed this guy on the way back. Log is soaked and tattered but pencil is sharp. TFTC!!! Great Camo
Last morning up this part of the country so a final chance to grab some caches before work in the morning. This presented itself as a nice little trail and so it was.
Having completed the tiger trail I decided to collect a few others, this was located in moments
Thank you for the placement

Found after a little searching. Well done camouflage, the log however is almost mush.

Now daylight saving has started, and the weather looks like it may be improving, we can do a bit of caching after work. First outing this evening achieved 4 caches and a pleasant walk in the bush at A H Reed Park.
I've passed this interesting house several times on my way to visit friends; there was an article in the local newspaper about it which explained how the whole house is designed to follow the sun.
Although the cache was a quick and easy find the log is soaking wet and needs to be replaced, unfortunately I didn't have a spare with me so couldn't do it during my visit.

had a whole bunch of caches programmed for my visit up to whg, but random decision made to head out to rocks, so entered this one with only the position and clue. the relevant marker stood out as soon as we strolled around the corner , with easy find near by.
2.05pm. Definitely an unusual house. Cache was revealed to Mrs JF's eyes quickly.

We were all quite taken with UFO building, looked even more intriguing with the boat (not Noah's ark) parked next to it. No problem with the find. TFTC

After checking in at Little Earth Lodge I walked up here. The Logbook was completely wet. So I took it with me to dry. I put it back the next morning.
Now I know how this cache got its name. Great camo, I was lucky to see it straight away. TFTC

A wet day in Whangarei, spooky when you see something other-worldly appearing out of the weather. Found with the help of pj42's brother. TFTC
11.15am. Had to sit in the car for a while, while it bucketed down. The got a bit wet from the drips off the trees. Took a few minutes to spot. Worth a point for the camo.
Thank you. David.

9174... Impressive camoed container... snuck into Area 51 unobserved... was hoping to witness them Blast Off... guess they were Grounded. Many thanks for a cool cache.
This cache evaded me on my 1st attempt, as I was quite distracted by numerous alien patrols.
Today was eerily quiet; now armed with intelligence of a cloaking device, received from a greater being, the cache was easily detected.
The log was ever so slightly damp, but replaced lid carefully to avoid wicking of moisture. TFTC!

Great camo. Took us a while to notice. We did no photo but there is one in the other cache log.
Have noticed this alien invasion before - and would love to have a sticky-beak inside it - before it 'takes-off' again??
Great camo and took a bit to spot what was right under nose - ha ha - how often is this the case with caches - love it though - TFTC

Was on the verge of giving up and staring at what I thought was the right bush when I noticed something strange where I was staring...found with Autocons!
Nice cammo....passed it by at first but then had second thoughts....different house, would be interesting to see how the internal structure works in this shape. Out for a ride on a nice evening..... TFTC
Wow that's an interesting sight across the valley - half expected it to start revolving and lift off! The nicely camoed cache was spotted after a short search. Thanks for bringing us to Area 51.
