DNF. I was going for a last-minute geocaching before leaving Dunedin. Unfortunately, after searching around some big rocks, I DNF anything like a cache. I wondered if the location had been compromised. I also didn't have too much time before they kept announcing my flight.
A DNF for us and another cacher that joined the search. Searched under all the rocks even though we had all had recent hints about which one. Wondering if CO was spotted placing it and it's already been removed by airport staff... I think that a hide so close to an airport is no longer allowed so it's a shame we might loose this one. Fingers crossed we were just having end-of-Mega cache blindness...
Logged with permission of the CO after having a lovely dinner with her and her family.
Based on dnf reports I went to check. I could not locate the cache so replaced with a pill container from the mega pack. Happy caching!!
Accio 10:42:25Over the ditch for the Dunedin Mega for my first visit to South Island. Day two, with Crew 153 and Fangsoki. In driving rain today we nipped out here to the airport - and this is my most southerly southern cache ever found ... Woohoo. South 45 and a bit - closer to the south pole than the equator. How cool is that? (OK, appreciate the pun please ... it is damn cool for this thin-blooded Queenslander. ) And such an appropriate place.Cache is a smilie after permission from the lovely lovely CO with whom we had dinner tonight. Thanks Hinemoana for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #12799}*
Visiting beautiful Dunedin and its surrounds for the mega. Many city and country roads driven to search for caches and appreciate the many COs placing them for us to find.
We are travelling as a group from Canberra, Australia so we are logging as CCD. Canberra Cachers in Dunedin. TFTC SL as CCD.
Early start to grab the aeroplane we solved before coming over and others on the way.Day 4 and meeting up with Binliner, smittengranny and barb2e. Signing as CCD for Canberra Cachers Dunedin. Finally back in NZ and this time for a Mega. Starting in Christchurch before heading south. Lots to see and do with Kittykatch and Grimraider. Will be joining with others as the days go on.Thanks for getting me out and about Hinemoana
Dunedin MegaOut caching with barb2e, Smittengranny, binliner and Joolay. Signed as Canberra Cachers Dunedin (;CCD). GrimRaider, Joolay and I are in NZ for the Dunedin mega event. It is great to be back to see more of this beautiful country. Thanks for hiding this cache Hinemoana
We are back in Dunedin this weekend for the Mega and we were very happy to turn this previous DNF into a smiley today. Now off to pick up the rental car for a weekend of caching fun.
We didn't find this one today, but then wee may have been too nervous with airport people around.
This is day one of my Dunedin Mega trip, the first time I've ever been here before (never mind geocaching). Obviously with such a plethora of caches to find there's going to be plenty I'll skip but I hope to find my targets. Unfortunately logging is going to be generic, but thank you to all the cache owners and event organisers for the things you do.First find of the trip and currently my most southern find. Was waiting for CrystalFairy to short out his rental car so I unlocked the lab caches and was just hanging when a voice said "it is still there" - turns out it was TracyG!All good here, and thank you to Hinemoana for the placement of your Traditional Cache.Find #7182 at 24 October 2024 10:48am
?????? Down in Dunedin for the Mega event. Travelling with Davidsonclan and McJandals. Really fun to be out and about with the team and catching up with other cachers friends m everywhere. Thanks to all the organisers and all the COs for some great caches. It is certainly a lovely area of New Zealand ??????TFTC ??????
Down here for the Dunedin Geo Toroa Event from the sunny Bay of Plenty,Tauranga and are with some of Team BoP. Great to get together with our fellow cachers. Nice quick find on arrival. Many thanks. I am logging using the Cachly App and using their template option which helps with my memory for logging. I genuinely thank every CO for their time and effort put into these caches. Much appreciated. ??????
Arrived in Dunedin today with FMZ, 2 days ahead of the mega. Of course this had to be found. Quick find here once the coast was clear. TFTC
My first ever cache in the South Island!!! Its taken awhileonly over 8yrs! Good flight in and now its spitting with rain. Oh well we came prepared for this! Met up with some fellow cachers that were on the same flight as us at this spot too which Im sure wont be the first time over the next few days. Very excited for my first Mega Event. TFTC and off to see what the mystery rental car we got was.
Found on the Geo Toroa Mega trip with trayc.g. Logs mostly signed with MM to save paper. TFTC
Day 1 of my 6 day trip to Dunedin to attend the Mega and clean up all the puzzle caches solved over the last few years. Todays journey took us from the airport via some of the new DT 81 puzzles to Middlemarch and then back to Dunedin. All caches done today were with Bruzie. Apologies for the generic logs. Thanks for all the puzzles, caches, find, frustration and enjoyment. Did this one leaving the airport just after picking up our rental car.
Great to be back at my old school. Seen this statue many times - not here for the MEGA but this will get many finds this week!
Nice quick find here today I was.lucky a mugglr was on a different Rock tftc busy place
Southern Man (and Woman!) (Otago)Dunedin MEGA - day 1. Straight off the plane to a cache! It's the only way to travel.Cache found, log signed, all replaced as found. TFTC Hinemoana# 10554CheersWillis007
With Gap (of Fap and Gap) Were off to Geo Toroa (Dunedin Mega). Between flight cancellations and re-routing, things could only get better But wait! Theres more. Somewhere in our caching escapades, I dropped my wallet Its still at large and in the wild.We were newly FOB (Fresh off the Boat, or aeroplane to be precise), and this cache was a welcome sight. There were a few possible hint matches, so I circled until something caught my attention. Let the games begin! Thanks Hinemoana. TFTC.
Just landed in Dunedin for a work trip and managed to get this one without much mugfle presence. TFTC
We hatched a plan to make a road trip to otago and pick up a few caches. With Mosgiel putting on a beautiful day we set about finding caches with Annielin and mrshazzer. Made a quick find flying under the radar soon returned to hide and head on our way Nice hide Getting out and about in to the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching. On a caching trip for an event in Mosgiel with Downsouth & Annielin but also finding some caches along the way. Didn't worry too much about people watching us just went for it. Quick find here. Love the statue TFTC
Found with Dsi and Mrs Hazzer on an excursion from the deep south.. driving, not flying!!Thanks for the hide
Land.Turn off flight mode.Do adventure lab.Disembark.Exit terminal.Geocache. Todays theme was carry-on only and even in winter its the best way to travel because it means you can make a run for the closest geocache straight away. The hint was very helpful for this one and we made the find super fast without raising suspicions. There was a cop standing at the gate as the plane unloaded but they werent after me or irondale. TFTC
Away for the weekend for a sweet adalines convention. Found time for some light caching. First find for my friend who I hope will join the geocaching whanau. TFTC
Arrived at the airport and it was starting to rain, so no one outside and I had the place for myself. Quickly grabbed the cache without being seen, walked away to sign and then replaced in another quite moment.Great!
Our first find in South Island. At first we located not the correct stone but soon we found the right stone and the cache so we added our name in the logbook. Thanks Hinemoana for the cache! Greetings from Krakw, Poland.
Found with Leon0112 before our flight to Auckland and then home to USA. We had a wonderful four weeks in NZ!
We arrived in Wellington on January 15. Alas, we are flying home today. Our last day I found this cache as my 100th find in New Zealand. Thanks.
Thanks, was stuck in the airport for hours, so decided to head out. First one of the year, easy find. Place seemed deserted.
Finally not to busy to find this one. Dropping son off to fly to USA, not too many muggles. Tftc
Last day in New Zealand. Heading out to adventure in Australia. Thanks for the hide.
# #7,091 #----------Dropped off my car and checked in my luggage before coming back outside to get this one. Had to be extra sneaky, I dont think Ive found a cache like this close to an airport building before. Nicely hidden and great statue. My time on South Island has come to an end. Its onwards to Wellington now. TFTC!!! ----------> All geocaches are signed as mmmPIZZA or mPZ
Quick PNG as only 15 free mins parking and wanted to do the lab cache as well. All good, had time to use the loo as well.
Woman? I dont know )Thanks for the easy cache. Very sad ..... I was leaving my son alone on Zealand. Good bye.Greetings from the Czech Republic.
#23369. It was appropriate the Troodles found this one as she is a Southern Woman (was born south of this cache!). TFTC.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on a slight detour as we travel from Dunedin to Invercargill. We wanted to do the ad lab at the airport and were surprised to find that the first 15 mins of parking were free here. So we had no excuse not to look for this cache as well. Even though there were lots of cars in the parking area, the airport itself was very quiet. A few people waiting to be picked up and us.We made hard work of the find as we hadn't noticed a couple of hint objects over thar. Once we had frisked the nearest ones, I the had a look further afield and there was the obvious hiding place. Quick find after that. And back to the car well within the 15 mins. TFTC.
Dropping off a family member so I quickly popped out and grabbed this one. TFTC
A nice quick find before checking in, tried on arrival but airport security was lurking and I looked suspicious Tftc and the magic few days Otago provided. We will return
A group of friends have traveled together to Dunedin to collectively target a whole bunch of caches, primarily because of their value in terms of Jasmer Grid filling, or for certain Challenge Caches that we have elected to try to achieve.M.M.I.N.T.T are Mr-Mcgoo, matagouri, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, taybee nz and TwigNZ. Some logs were signed this way, some were signed as M.I.N.T for expediency, and some (mainly Challenge Caches) were signed with individual names.Day 4, our last day before heading home this evening. By now we had returned the rental car and had made our weary way into the terminal. But there's always time for 1 more cache right? A quick find here. No problems here, so everything was replaced as found once our team name was added to the log.Thank you for putting out this cache for all to find. Farewell Dunedin, we will be back for the MEGA
(# 8416) The Wellington crew are on another mission. Included are Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, Matagouri and TaybeeNZ. As usual quite a bit of hilarity. Day 4 was more centred primarily on the Airplane series down towards the airport. At the airport waiting the return flight home and the flight has just been delayed. Plenty of time to grab this one. Signed as MINT.Thanks Hinemoana for bringing me here.
A group of Wellington geocachers in Dunedin. Mr-McGoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B, TwigNZ, and myself, signing as Team MINT. Targeting oldies, rare Jasmer, Wherigos, and anything else we could find. Our last cache of the trip, outside the airport, of course. A quick find. All good in the cache. Tftc!
Day 4 and our last day of our Dunedin Invasion. Six welly cachers have had a great time focusing on oldies, wherigos and specific challenges. Lots of laughter as always and great fun. Today the focus was the plane series and a finish at the airport for our flight this evening. Ample time to sneak out for this farewell find. All logs signed as MINT. TFTC.
I’ve always loved this sculpture. TFTC. I did the Adventure Lab too, while waiting to pick someone up this morning.
We had just enough time to get this cache before I had to catch my plane. I was helped a bit by my Grannie: spoonz2. Thank you for putting a cache at the airport..

A quick grab thanks again to a good hint, nothing worse than an obscure hint while fossicking in a garden in a public space!
Once this one was sorted and the Ad Lab done we had just enough time left on our 15 minute free parking ticked to grab a pie and a coffee from the airport cafe, yes I know, its not the cheapest place but we are about to head off into the back blocks for the night and early morning, no coffee up there!

So glad this one has been replaced. MrMagoo72 and I came to drop a friend off at the airport early this morning and decided to have a look for this one again. Thankfully we came up trumps pretty quickly. TFTC.
Delighted to find a handy cache while waiting for our plane. Well placed for a discreet grab, thanks Hinemoa.
Immediately upon arrival, I took a short break in the shade to enjoy the beautiful weather.
At last it was quiet when I arrived at the airport ready to fly back to Auckland. Had a nice little sit down and found the cache.
Did a drop off at the airport and decided to grab this one this time. Other times it's been me doing the traveling and I've had carry-on to lug around so good opportunity today. Shuttle driver was parked right at location when I got there but once he was gone it was a quick easy find. Going to go for a walk and get the other two close ones too. Tftc.
Found with goodgeo334, we were going to put a geo coin in but we didn't realize it was a micro
Awesome to log one more cache before heading home. We have had a fabulous time here in Dunedin - BMXing, geocaching and sightseeing.TFTC and see you again Dunedin .
Visiting for a son's graduation! Obviously got our priorities right! First find of the day. Yay TFTC
Found again with Flobberworm! while visiting Dunedin to celebrate 150th anniversary of my ancestors arriving at Port Chalmers.
