Really hoping to get this when I come up on 27th Jan!I love adventurous ones .....will have togs and boogie boardWould ideally love the CO to confirm it is actually there...as it hasn't had a find in 6 Years!Shall I bring a spare????
As we were as close as we were likely to get for who knows how long we opted to walk to this one after finshing number 4 on the RBT trail. Unfortunately, either our eyes weren't up to the job despite spending some time in the spot and surrounding area our GPS reckoned we should be in or in the long time wince it was lost found something has happened to it. There has been some disturbance in the area (branches broken etc). Not that I liked it but in the end we gave up and headed back to where we'd left the car.
Visiting Bay7 today who were camping nearby so we waded across before the tide came in. Quickly spotted the cache, very cool. Beautiful place. Tftc. Sorry unable to place new log as we didn’t have another with us so this still needs to be done by someone.
Nice sneaky hide here ! Beautiful day here in Ruakaka. Log is full & wet so needs replacing. TFTC
I have had this cache on the radar since last year when we had to abhort the attempt during torrential rain. Today we eyed up gz and realised the tide was still too high to wade across with our phones - I was keen to swim it but not with the phone. Decided hiring a kayak would be fun. The guy was amazingly accommodating and was exceptionally generous with the hire price. We explained what we were doing and he was fascinated. It was a very quick and slick paddle across then a bit of ciclibg around. Coordinates kept bringing me to one spot and I finally realised why!! Little monkey see! Awesomely fun cache thanks Rednuam6
I had completed most of series last year , The weather was awful so gave this one a miss...today we were getting a few caches on this of the Inlet ...the tide was mid high, but spotted a canoe for hire ...so did a deal and a short paddle over and began to look ...well what a evil placement ...but in saying that enjoyable we looked up and down and round and round and then a big smile on my face .....signed and returned the We monkey to its place .thanks rednuam6 for the great adventure ...but sadly there’s some maintenance for you to do the logs full I really enjoyed this one tftc
Found after a little searching.
Log is full so we just took a picture. Sorry didn't have a replacement log with us.

After doing the trail, just had to continue along to this one. Quite a way from the mouth of the estuary. Once at GZ, spent a little time looking around before cheeky monkey was spotted. Log is very full but just managed to find space to sign.

We were camping just across the estuary from this, and despite the incoming tide we decided to wade across and grab this. Water was just above knee height so we were fine going over, cache was an easy find. We moved a bit further along from where we came across and the water was much higher. Water was so good we dropped our things on the side and went for a dip, thanks for the cache
Paper wet. Able to write name. Over 50 years since I used to walk from here up to Marsden Point. Used to catch King fish and mullet in here and large flounder. Thanks for bringing back great memories.
Such fun! Cheeky monkey watching us from above walking around and around......pleased we found him.
This one didn't take too long to spot, which was probably down to good luck more than anything. Practised some CITO and took a whole bag full of rubbish back to the car rather than leave it to pollute the bird refuge. tftc
Thanks for the great caches you placed in a great place we enjoyed the day on the beach tftc
Having read other logs about walking across the estuary at low tide we left this cache until later in the day, and arrived right on low tide. One of us tested the waters, and got up to knee depth after only a couple of steps. We happened to have our kayak on board, so quickly changed our plan of attack. Launched the kayak and paddled across, landing close to GZ. The little monkey eluded us at first, but was found before desperation set in. Whew! Thanks for an interesting cache - giving it a Favourite point.
Found by kayak while staying at the campground. My pen failed, so I took at photo of the cache and logbook should the Cache Owner need other evidence. Beautiful spot.
Waded across maybe a little bit too early as water more than knee deep in places! Reasonable warm day but not really warm enough for a swim although had put on our togs just in case! Great camo & will return for a swim with the grandchildren TFTC
Haha cute cache walked around from the race course. Low tide. Made for a nice walk. TFTC.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
After a week up North, I made my way back down to Auckland today and stopped for this cache along the way. I had been wanting to do this one for awhile now and todays trip fitted in perfectly with low tide. It was a lovely sunny day and I waded across the river in just over knee deep water and soon made it to GZ. After a quick scan around the area, I looked up and realised I was standing directly underneath it! Thankfully I brought tweezers with me, as I needed them to remove the log. A neat cache this one, in a beautiful spot too - a favourite point added! TFTC!

Waded across the estuary at the turning of the tide, water well above knees but still easy crossing for all the kids. Quick find , neat little spot, TFTC.
#1599, waded across about half way between tides water came to top of legs, kids used their boggie boards to help swim across. cool location and cool hide. Spent the afternoon walking along coast before walking back past the caravan park. TFTC
Visiting friends camping at Ruakaka this afternoon I couldn't resist taking the kayak from the children and nailing this one. Took a little bit of searching then a little bit of brainstorming ways to retrieve the log book. Eventually success! TFTC!
The tides were in our favour this evening so we were able to get across quite easily. The search for the prize was a different story however, despite having an inkling to what we should be looking for.
TFTC, a fav.

After parking at the entrance to the race track and completing the series of caches along the way. We made this mistake of bringing Lucy the geopup with us and only realised halfway along the beach when we saw a sign that dogs were not allowed so MAR and Lucy had headed back to the van while ROS continued on.
After the initial search revealed nothing and a few more circuits of GZ and still nothing ROS was about to give up when there it was the elusive cache right there... Great hide, great cache page and an enjoyable walk on a sunny winter day TFTC.
This cache was found as a continuation of our walk around the RBT series and we are claiming it towards the Dunedin rambler’s challenge.

8869 Our backup option for the NZ DT Bingo 3 Line Challenge after failing miserably at Frogtown Beach… Nice hide, but only spotted one Little Monkey, glad it was the one with the log. An enjoyable walk along the estuary, TFTC.
Walked from the RBT series to get this one as it was high tide and didnt fancy a swim over to GZ. I did however get my shoes wet along the river walking to GZ as the tide was super high in places and didnt want to get ripped to shreds with gorse as high as my head. Loved the walk along the river, with the many birds sunning themselves in the hot sun this morning. Didnt take too long to track down this cleverly hidden cache. Thanks for bringing me to this awesome spot. Well worth a favourite point!! TFTC!
We walked across the river yesterday (like walking on broken glass!!!) and gave up after 30 minutes. Came back along the beach today after completing the trail and have given up after another 30 minutes. Looks like we are going to need some more help. Just too many places for us!! Wo0rth a favourite point, but not until we find it.
Nice cache hide. R5 made the grab. Siren from the fire station went off, giving us a jolt.
Pulled up at the parking spot to see a family scaring fish into a net. Tons of them swimming around the stream that was left. Got over to GZ and had a long search around. Took a moment in the near dark to find the hide. Very nice.
Enjoyed the cute story & wading across to cool my aching calves after a hard run, to find this cute cheeky l'il hide...
But I nearly got snapped by a crocodile! [:o]
If I'd known they were lurking, I may have chosen a spot much further downstream, to evade detection & safely cross without alerting them.
But then I wouldn't have met Simon, the kayak guy.
He has a passion and wealth of knowledge about the birds, but doesn't seem too keen about geocachers! but perhaps he will change his mind as long as people heed the noticeboards and take special care to not disturb the birdlife.
There weren't many birds roosting/feeding today but it was quite entertaining to watch one peciliur oystercatcher's antics.
TFTC and showing me this special place!

Wonderful, wonderful cache. Low tide. Yes FTF for my 600th cache. Was really wanting to do this cache as I call my little Grandson a "Little checky Monkey", so well suited. Great to meet up on my return and have a chat rednuam6. Twice in 10 days!!Was so pleased I had hit a low tide as this was very easy to cross and enjoy a stroll along the estury. Most enjoyable.
