Logs
Not Found at 10:17Collected all the info but no luck at gz. Like others have said there are signs of teens hanging out at what I assume is gz.
Came back here a third time with a fresh pair of eyes and geoBF. Of course I managed to see it with him present. I guess it was the right time of day with plenty of light. Definitely not where I expected it though. TFTC ahomburg for this one.
Tried searching here a couple of times, to no avail. Signs of potential no good activities at GZ. Might be worth taking a look at
17:46Wanting to fill a calendar hole, I was returning to this Multi, which had been missing one Cup Day years ago.Since then, the counting and cache location have changed a bit, so I took the walk and came up with some numbers. And followed the arrow. And looked., then looked a bit more. Then walked back to count again, and read some logs on the way back to the coordinates that of course I had right. One log mentioned a slight difference in perception.OK, then... AHA!!Thanks, ahomburg.#8784
Spent a good half an hour searching to no avail. Many many rocks were overturned.
With a couple hours to kill before heading to work, Geo-Son bought along Geo-Mum to try and turn this frown upside down in an area where we have all the other caches found. With an extra clue from the CO after our last DNF at this location, the cache was found almost instantly upon arrival at GZ leaving us wondering 'how did we miss that last time?' Dropped off a TB.Tftc ahomburg
I luckily found it after messing up the puzzle! I just followed the hint. The log book is wet.
Met up with Snips and Co this morning for a few hours of ahomburg (bush bashing) meanderings. This multi was the 1st cache we tackled, and it started off as a complete shemozzle. There were so many steps....that we had initially started counting the wrong ones... We became well accustomed to those steps as the morning past. Eventually, we got our act together and agreed on our count, and on our calculations, we both even questioned the hint lol...cache found new log book signed.
First cache for the day - an outing with Tiz13. We had just met at the top of the stairs and our tongues were wagging. In between our chatter, we counted stairs, then we re-counted as the count did not fit nicely with the ABCs. Hmmm. LOL Note to self: Next time get to the posted coords before starting a multi. More tongue-wagging and wondering what ahomburg might consider big and small in relation to rocks. It ended up that I have a different perception - which could all lead to a very philosophical BUT we are out geocaching and we are happy and we found this one. Thanks, ahomburg, your caches made my day.
Extensive searching on both sides of the fencing bought us no luck, after a while we decided to call it a day and come back another time.
Could not find it! Searched all around. Perhaps my adding up was wrong no time to go back now so a DNF
Off on a family outing to spend a few hours together going sonething, and I selected this area to collect a few geocaches as it looked interesting.
Son2 is still on fire. He had counted the steps from a distance and was absolutely correct. We all strolled down the steps counting to confirm. Then enjoyed the lake before heading to the final and finding ourselves on the wrong side of the fence. Got to the correct spot and pleased that I beat Son2 to this final.
Thanks for the cache A Homburg

this lake has seen some changes
youth parlance would dub it a glow-up
since our last visit, the concreters have been busy, the gardeners have been out and the new deck and playground shimmer in the sun
the locals were out enjoying the rays too
despite these changes, our routine here followed the same steps as the last visit:
count the steps: get the same values
run the calculations: get the same digits
look for the cache: poke around in the same spot
this time, there was one crucial difference:
we could find the treasure
thanks for the incentive to visit and revisit
nice little spot

I walked up and down the stairs, counting, counting. I crunched the numbers and headed off to GZ, where the cache was found after a short search. The cache was full of water, which I drained, and the log is very wet. Managed to scrawl my name on the log, but it is very smudged.
All good here

Out with echidna44 caching in the Ferntree Gully area. successfully completed all the calculations and after a short hunt found the cache. Beautiful area, thanks ahomburg!
Out with pinnacle333, we were caching in the Ferntree Gully area.
I love this quarry and what they have done to revegetate it. We counted the steps, did our calculations and found GZ. Thanks ahomburg.

Spent a good chunk of time recounting the steps when I couldn't find the cache at the co-ordinates I'd calculated, but as they were bang on and the location had no cache I can only guess I'm bad at looking or cache has been muggled.
Found it! Having walked around this park many times with my Muggle friend Jayashree during the various lockdowns, I thought it was time to actually find this cache! After counting the wrong set of steps (it always helps to read instructions properly), I found the correct ones and soon had a set of coordinates and headed off to GZ. Mm, looks like someone has used this area for a toilet!! Fortunately I was able to avoid the unpleasantness and eventually found the cache! I spent far to long looking around the wrong large rock! The container had water in it but the log book was nice and dry. Replaced the cache back in its hiding place and left, quickly. Time to finish my evening walk and get home for a G&T! TFTC SL I remembered to collect the clue. I wonder if I still have the other clues I’ve collected? Might have to do some revisiting I think.
Had to recount a few times and ask for a double check, but finally got there in the end!
This was certainly a nice day for a cache! I, along with every teenager and their dog in a 15km radius, enjoyed the old quarry here today. The teens were braver than I and were swimming in the cold water. Reading the signs and warnings about potentially harmful algae I don't think I'll be joining them anytime soon haha!
The dogs and I enjoyed a wander down the steps and I only briefly thought I might need a recount (for some reason I thought I didn't count 5 sets of steps yet there was a number next to it in my phone, I must've gotten distracted by something)! I was grateful to not need to walk back up and down again.
The area near GZ would be a good place for some CITO but I didn't have any gloves with me today. Considering the rubbish I used the hint to quickly get my hands on the cache and sign the log.
I've only been here once before and enjoyed making new memories today. Thanks for brining us to this great park!

master 5 helped with counting all the stairs and hubby found it at GZ! team effort!
Found after going on the wrong side of the fence, thanks for the hide and the counting if steps, got some exercise in at the same time.
Dropped our daughter off nearby, and took the opportunity to find some caches.
Enjoyed this previously unvisited scenic reserve.
Managed to find the GZ coordinates before leaving home, as the steps are visible on Google maps, but still did a count on site just to be sure.
Cache nicely tucked away.

Found with dalrot. Not where I was immediately drawn to but found it easily.
Dalrot had some trouble counting steps
Dalrot had some trouble counting steps
Found with katdogg. After some trouble by myself counting steps we were on our way. Cheers
*"There's one in every crowd"* and my mate certainly earned the "Numpty Of The Day" award for miscounting every set of steps! (Me: "No, you don't count the level where you start as a step! A step is when you *change* levels!" Him: "Huh, wha'? But . . (bottom lip quivering) . . this is a step, isn't it?" Big *"sigh"* and eye rolling from the rest of us who all arrived at the same set of numbers!)
Anyway he managed to redeem himself slightly by spotting the cache first once we zeroed onto the GZ. I hate to think where we would have ended up if we used his set of numbers!

Out for our lockdown exercise on a beautiful sunny Melbourne afternoon and we picked up a couple of caches as well. After doing the numbers and the calculations we continued our walk, finally arriving at GZ. After a bit of a search Mr Pooky soon located the prize . TFTC and bringing us to this lovely park. TNLN.
Our geocaching mates found this one before us but we enjoyed the multi while enjoying this lovely spot.

Finally sitting down and logging some of my recent finds. Sorry for the delay. this was a memorable adventure. I've been to this location many times swimming with the kids but today I was kidless. Walking with a friend having a life changing conversation I decided a cache would be a good distraction. very quickly we had GZ identified and headed off to search. my phone was jumping around a bit, putting GZ in an out of reach spot so we set out to search the surrounding area.... the ground was wet from recent rain and I wasn't wearing suitable shoes so sure enough my feet came out from under me and I slammed onto the ground, landing on a fist sized rock and jarring my shoulder - it was a spectacular fall apparently. I sat there dazed for quite a while then got up and continued the search very gingerly this time. unfortunately I didn't have a pen so the log was signed with a dirty rock... left a mark so to speak. I have a photo if required. thinking about it I'm glad i didn't have a pen as it would have been in my back pocket and would have added to the injuries I received! As it was I was sporting a bruise bigger than Texas on the side of my butt (have photo proof) and was unable to lift my arm properly for several weeks. Hopefully this log is acceptable, if not I'm happy to stop back in and sign again.
Geo dog adventure II since my return. He loved this park. We will return for him to spend more time exploring! Thanks for placing the cache ahomburg.
Doh. I forgot to grab the clue.
Lucky i'm back this way tomorrow anyhow.
Cache found safe and sound and is my first in this series.
I have been to most areas in this series before so will enjoy going back and making your finds there too.
I should know better than have more than one series going at a time. See how it goes. Ha.

knew this case was around from the last time we had premium however we were unsuccessful with the find... but then we then found this cache a few weeks back when we didn’t have premium yet,, TFTF ))

Today we decided to head out to the Dandenongs to an area as yet “uncached” by us. This was a fun multi that helped get my ‘steps’ up . All counted & calculated whilst enjoying the quarry. This is why we geocache, however. It brings us to different places that we’d otherwise never know about. Will have to contact the CO for the clue though, as there was no evidence of it in the cache.
**The Cache:** All good at GZ. Almost disturbed what we think was a fox & her lair, but we backed out & approached from a different angle to then make a quick find. Also performed some CITO in the immediate vicinity. Thanks ahomburg for this multi & for keeping the series running. Cache on.

Here on another mission (the Earth Cache) and saw a little clutch of caches in a very amazing and impressive location that had not been visited recently. Here in Melbs on care duty so in iso for the week as the stats get worse. Luckily my mum lives close by so a ride to here got me exercising and out in the fresh air and out and about before total lockdown which I hope does not come. Discovering this location has been a treat to say nothing of the amount of “reveg ” activity that has gone on. Can’t say I like counting steps, but I was up for the challenge, TFTC- enjoyed the late arvo!

Liked the step counting approach to collecting numbers here.
Wasn’t convinced my numbers were correct, and then when the calculated GZ seemed to be in a heavily disturbed area I wasn’t too surprised when I couldn’t find the cache or a reasonable match to the hint.
One to come back to at some point!

Ilukaperi had tried to do this one before, but had got a result that hadn't turned up a cache. We were a little despondent when we tried it together and got the same result, but after a trip to GZ that was a De Ja Vu experience for her, we tried accessing GZ from a different angle and there it was. TFTC!
My sister and I tried to find this cache about a year ago, but were unable and did not have the experience to go and try from different angles. Today day1976 and I backtracked a little (after trying to get through the fence elsewhere and getting twigs and spikes in hair and clothes) and found a way to get to it, and the it was.
We collected the information on Sunday and made our way to GZ, only to have a few teenagers sitting close to the search area. As they had blankets with them, and looked like they were in for a long stay, we left this to be collected another day. In the area tonight, and with the light fading, we were happy this was a nice quick find.
Thanks ahomburg. Enjoyable multi in a beautiful location.

Having gathered the required information the other day, Crusty K9 and I went out this morning and found the cache. It is a lovely place for a quiet walk. Tftc.
It was a nice day for a cache (or two).
We were on our way back from Mt.Doom and performed the necessary calculations.
We initially attempted the final from the wrong direction but a bit of backtracking and we were back on track.
Thanks ahomburg for giving us another reason to visit this beautiful area.

I started out from this park earlier in the afternoon, headed up the hill to grab some caches, then completed this multi on the way back to my car -- the final was conveniently not too far from where I parked. The counting and calculations were easy enough, and it was certainly a lovely place to sit and figure out the location of the final. At GZ, found the final easily enough, although got a bit frowny at all the junk around. This secluded spot showed signs of being a teen hangout. As a note to the CO, there is no logbook in the container -- merely a piece of paper many cachers have signed -- and I couldn't see any sign of a clue. Thanks to ahomburg for most of the caches I found today.
We counted steps and fortunately we could ignore the steps that led uphill. Calculated GZ and headed off. Quick find at GZ. TFTC
After some counting and calculating I found myself on the wrong side , and the shimmied under to get back. Grabbed the tb .
Thanks
Thanks
Snuck off while the kids had footy presentation. Glad to check this multi off in our 5k from home caches. Loved the massive SPOR close by.. thank god it's not in there tho!
This was our first Cache on our outing today in the FTG area . My Friend BonnyBlack did all the counting and the calculations , which was good because I mucked up counting one the series of steps . Soon enough we were at GZ and soon thereafter signing the Log . I dropped in a TB . This was a nice easy multi to start the Day . Thanks ahomburg.
Roaming the FTG area today to place a few smilies. We started here with a walk around this lovely parkland. Thanks ahomburg
Awww geez, it looks like I neglected some logs from when I went out and did the lyrebird track challenge........ that is very unlike me. Either way just trying to catch up on my end after completing my 3rd-year exams and getting all the logs up to date for the mega event. Anyways thanks for the cache and the adventure.
Found with omegaman1971 this afternoon after working out the final co-ord's while walking around the area. Great to be able to get a smilie after a previous dnf with this one. Thanks ahomburg for the straight forward multi, wander around this beaut spot and the cache.

Out with Happy Pants to get a few smileys on the map in my local area.
Wow hasn't this place changed over the years, I still remember back in the day when you had to sneak in here for a look around.
After doing the required maths and a nice walk we soon had the log signed.
Cheers for the cache!

I had decided that I would take the day off work and relax by walking some of the trails in the Dandenongs however I pulled up a bit lame (old sports injury...or perhaps just a sprained ankle) so I took a slightly easier option in the vicinity.
I had a nice amble around the park gathering the required information. A quick find at the GZ. I had almost walked back to the car when I remembered about the clue so I returned to the GZ. I could not find a clue...I'll have to contact the CO about that. Update: thanks ahomburg for providing me with the clue TNLN. TFTC.

Had to come over this way for a car service and my plan for today is to grab 4 multi's to complete a challenge cache in Canberra.. this is number one of the 4 this has been my 3rd visit as no.luck other times. Today I recounted recalculated and came up with new numbers. This time quickly found the obvious hide but all I found was a beer can. Surely not a typical container. A look around and I spotted a lid then a container a bit further some swaps and a zip lock bag in the other direction.. but no log. Gathered it all up and put it together I had a decent piece of paper so included that and it's all back in order. Tftc
The last time I was here this one was out of action, but was happy to return to this pretty spot, on the way to a Boxing Day family lunch in Upwey.
The area was pretty quiet on a beautiful sunny day and with the counting out of the way, I made my way to GZ. I spotted a promising place with lots of possible hiding places, but then I double checked my device, no not here, over there!
Another clue down, thanks ahomburg

Wow that was a lot of fun, thanks for bringing me here to rediscover this beautiful spot. Great stuff!
Great walk in the park. Log was a little wet around the edges. Have put back in bag to hopefully keep it dry. TFTC.
I came to attempt this one while barricades were up last year, so ended up detouring to the traditionals up above the quarry--and beyond--instead. Amusingly I think I was on the verge of contemplating the plastic stairs that time, so it was perhaps a blessing that I postponed the whole thing.
Today everything was very straightforward. My ability to count up to dizzying double-digit sums was found to be adequate, as was my ability to perform addition, subtraction and division. Mad skillz. Happily the cache revealed itself quite quickly after dodging yet more fluoro-clad dudes. It occurs to me that I'm yet to see another civilian using this facility--just endless vaguely disapproving chaps in utes. But enough about that...
Thanks--for the zillionth time--for the cache, ahomburg!

I think my coordinates were out. On a second visit to the site, Mr 5 spotted a likely area where the cache was hidden and quickly uncovered.
Thankfully I picked up the logbook first as it had some offensive writing in it, from what I can only guess (hope!) was a muggle.
TFTC!

I was certain the final coordinates were right, but after an extensive search was unable to find.
On a wet and slightly drizzly morning it was still a pleasant location to visit. The quarry is quite impressive and a lovely setting.
The numbers had been rejigged since my DNF a few years back, so it was time to do some counting, albeit a little quicker this time.
Thanks to ahomburg for placing this cache.

I wasn't expecting to visit this impressive location...I especially like that lake. Tranquility amongst the gentle rain and now a smiley face. We found the cache with good co-ords and condition. Nicely done. Thanks ahomburg.
I've felt like I should go to the quarry for ages, but just never quite got around to it. Today was the day, windy and cool though it was.
Once I read the cache description properly and ignored the plastic steps at the top, the counting of steps proceeded well.
I got realistic looking coordinates, and after going down to look at the lake (it would be nice to have a circuit around it...) I doubled back to get some of the other caches, then found this one. It was easily found, and there weren't many people around, so no one noticed me ducking off into the bushes. Thanks for the cache.

This has been on my to do list for ages. Finally I was able to get out of work for an hour or two to do this multi. Just what I needed a bit of fresh air and a little walk. I did all the counting and sat down to do the numbers. I always have that feeling when I do multis can I count? Can I add?? Looks like I can as I found GZ petty quickly. Thanks heaps
I obviously can't count... I had an old set of coords but when I went and looked didn't give me the cache. So I went and restepped which when I first put them in gave me a spot 2 k away. When checked triple checked numbers and had a spot not far from the original so went and searched there with no luck. Looks like the rain may be coming so going back to the car service place
I'd already begun descending the steps in search of the traditional cache, so had to stomp back up to the beginning. Here, I encountered two shirtless men which wasn't exactly pleasing to the eye and was troubling as I'd just pulled on a third or fourth layer as it was freezing! I counted happily and made my way happily to gz where the hint came in handy. Three TBs dropped off - one of which was a long-lost geocoin, the log signed and clue collected. TFTC ahomburg.
A park worth visiting. It is a nice day for a cache a perfect day for a cache. Bring your fishinv rod.
Find #1113
This was a beautiful day for a cache. I wandered here after finding another cache nearby. As usual I was over thinking this one and I wasn't sure what counted as a step and not a step! One of the flights pointed me in the right direction and I was able to work out the coordinates, though I wasn't really trusting I had entered them right. After a little bit of wandering around I was able to spot the tell tale hide. TFTC!

Puff, puff, puff! After doing a few ups and downs around this delightful park this afternoon I was a puffing a bit. All in good shape though. Some interesting hides here. This was possibly the best, especially after finding the final stage as light rain started to fall and a trip over the strappy leaves of a tussock after the find. Luckily, no real damage, just another bruise on my shin. All in good condition.
My eldest child is off 4WDing to Craig's Hut with a friend today (lucky for some), which left the youngest child bored out of his brains because he had no one to wrestle with on the lounge room floor all day. After getting a few things done I felt sorry for him, so I decided to take him to the park to stretch his legs...and catch Pokémon. Turns out that I hadn't done this multi yet. Can you believe it? So the outing was good for us both.
We parked at the posted coords. Yes, "The Lawnmower" (as my tiny car is affectionately known) is good for some things...parking in small spaces is one of them.
Off we went, with the boy-child taking great delight in doing the counting for me. GZ was calculated easily and we made our way to this hidden spot while watching a big group of teenagers jumping off the platform into the lake. Is that water clean? I was hoping that the cache would be well away from the area that it is in as I had plans to plonk my own cache in here. Never mind. Cache was found easily and my name was added to the book.
Mr 6 was over the moon to have caught 5 new Pokémon today and the outing was topped off by the giant Blue Tongue Lizard that came out of the rocks to say hello just before we got back to our car.

We parked at the posted coords. Yes, "The Lawnmower" (as my tiny car is affectionately known) is good for some things...parking in small spaces is one of them.

#706 - 1.20am
I was just wrapping up a Thursday late night double in The Basin, and considering pushing into Friday, when I was notified about this cache being re-enabled. And with unlove to boot, it was a no brainer!
I headed over to the quarry (for the second time this week) just after midnight. I did the required information gathering and calculated a likely spot. But I was feeling lazy, so I whizzed the car closer. I disturbed the occupants of another car parked nearby, so had to wait a little before heading to GZ. Finding the hide was made easy due to spot on coordinates. I happily signed in the new logbook, feeling content that I'd crossed off my 'daily double' and now had the rest of the coming day free. The unlove and pathtag were very welcome too.
Exhausted after a long day, I headed straight home to log the find in bed. But I was asleep before my head hit the pillow. Before I'd even set my alarm for the morning...
So inevitably, I woke with a start to find myself running late for work and raced out the door.
It was the beginning of a challenging day...
No time for a lunch break.
Then news of a sudden serious illness in the family took up the whole afternoon.
It was evening again before I had a moment to think of the log.
Hopefully no one has been to...
Oh no! They have.
Very sorry to put you out, alfetola.
Thank-you, ahomburg, for the cache and the pathtag. I'm moving through the series rather slowly, but I'll get there, lol. This is a very neat multi that's good for the cardio.
It turned out to be a good idea to grab my daily caches early as I didn't have much time later in the day, what with one thing and another.
Note to self: leave at least a 'write note' when picking up 'unlove' (and FTFs).

Will get a replacement in here in the next couple of weeks. Original GZ no longer useable, but close by is Fine.
Went over to check progress. Works are still going but it's looking good. Will check again in a month.
No luck finding out when works will be complete, it is a Major operation and works are still going on.
I went to check on this one today and there are some major works going on in the park. Might be a while until they have finished.
After chasing the required numbers at way point 1 and double checking to make sure it was a case of heading over and counting what I could find as a couple of things seem to elude me but after sitting down and coming up with a reasonable set of final co-ord's I headed over and was greeted with a construction zone. I scaled the fence and had a look around what I figured to be the likely gz (the hint seemed to confirm it) and came up empty handed. The area has had some portable buildings set up and it could be a case of be disturbed with the works. I will try again another time once the area is cleared of works. Thanks ahomburg for bringing me here.
DNF! Gathered the first set of clues, got to the second spot, decided we could just assume what most of the answers were. Got halfway to the final spot, construction fencing got in the road. Got over & under it, got to the rock pile, looked around it for 20 minutes but didn't turn up the cache.
Can I suggest the problems I had with the whole multi setup?
A and B were equal, even though they were supposed to be different
Too much info to grab at the second waypoint, made me very tempted to figure out shortcuts
Construction has blocked off the area! I'm happy to climb fences but I don't expect others to
Searching for caches in rock piles sucks for everyone I would have loved an overly descriptive hint in order to just find the cache
In the end, I'm pretty sure I can find the final puzzle cache from this series without the clues from this one, so I will probably not return to this multi for a long time!

DNF after scampering around in the dark over, under and around fences. Construction tampered with cache site?
Counting few times to get the mathematic right.
Searching after second attempted on same day.
Couldn't find it.
thanks ahomburg

This is my second attempt on this one as I did not read all the instructions. I really love this park and well worth the walk around. Having picked up all the answers last time I need to do the last bit that I missed out on. Did not look hard enough and restorted to a phone check and a relook, there it was. Just where I should have looked. Thanks Adrian for bringing me here, again. Gets a favourite from me because of the location, a lovely park to check out
Geo son and cousin worked out co ords, with help from co, geo hubby and son found it
I made " a bit of a meal" of this one but got there in the end...had real trouble counting things for some reason...came up with A = B...twice...as it was obviously wrong I took a guess or two and went hunting. Fortunately my caching instincts were "on the money" today because after a short hunt (with the help of the Hint) I had the cache in hand.
Thanks ahomburg for the cache and bringing us to an interesting location...I have made numerous trips along Burwood Highway and never realised that there was this huge hole in the ground just over the railway line.
