Heading north from Ipswich area to FNQ, via the inland route. Travelled a little further than originally planned when I discovered the chook races!Arrived just in time for last evening's exciting event. Camped along the river for the night Up early to head across the road for this one.Felt a little like being in a Quinton Tarantino movie ... the morning sun rising, accentuating the redness of the outback dust, a slight breeze and the sound of rustling foliage accompanied by the song of an unknown bird ... It didn't take long to make the find. Two steps up and I had the container in hand. Log was signed, container tucked back where I found it, and off I went into the distance ... ... ... TNLNSL.TFTC ...
Thanks for the interesting site to visit. Im passing through on a job and had time to grab this quick little geo. TFTC
Found on a leisurely bike ride around Tambo. Couldnt sign the log as I didnt have a pen. TFTC
Hmm seems that the Rainman was wrong. Qantas has had a crash. It was just a very long time ago. This one was very close to our camp.Signed The Roos.Tftc
Geohusband needed to educate me about the Rainman reference and his height was also required. TFTH
Found It!Interesting, and a little sad, bit of history that I never knew about. Found the cache after a short search.TFTC
After a good nights sleep in Augathella it was time to hit the road and make our way to Longreach for QOGM, however, plenty of stops were made along the way to towns such as Tambo, Blackall, Barcaldine, Ilfracombe and bunch of other random locations to grab a variety of caches. Great scenery and experiences. This trip will be one to remember, especially since weve never ventured this far out before. Thanks for bringing us here.#3819 - TFTC

Accompany with DeafVW, DeafCat, and DeafPhantom. I am appreciative of them because they are young and have more energy and good equipment as I didn't bring Ladder with me.
Handy one of them can climb, so I just stood and watched.
Thank you for organising the cache and hunt.

We are now on our way to Longreach for the QOBM event next month. As we missed the big event here, it was now time to grab some of the caches around the area. Another big day today, doing some of the trails around the area. Today we have arrived in Tambo to explore the area.
Stopped off here and made a quick find. An interesting bit of history.
Thanks djcache for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.

Doing the rounds of Tambo, notes the reason for this cache, must have been terrifying for all involved.

On the hunting trail with SeasonedBird while on a slow roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. Winner winner, chicken dinner! After winning the the local chock race last night at the pub, our mission today is to clean up the outstanding Tambo caches. A quick find here. It’s a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Departed Melbourne the other day and travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel. Leaving Charleville this morning and heading north again hoping to find somewhere for the night just past Barcaldine. I'll be heading out first thing in the morning through Augathella, Tambo and Blackall
Learning early lessons is a good thing, quick find...

Stayed at the town's 'free-camp' last night, and just knew there would be a cache here. We found it fairly easily. TFTC.

Day 5 of my outback travels and the continuation of my Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster trip for 2022. With the success of our last year’s team (Mavericks), Willis007, Triple Turmoil, Jacs team and myself have joined up again to start and continue our assault on Charleville as, “Charle Villain’s”. Today we had Dissister and Simber15 join us for the trip around. A new name was used for today of Outlaws to same time and log space.
Today is going to be another be day of caching as we were looking at completing the caches from Charleville to Augathella, then Augathella to Morven, then a few on the way back in before a night time event. Our teaming up worked well as we then had time to do a side trip into Tambo. Happy to get a few extra caches and some of which I missed last time and some of which were new.
It was a long day but we had a lot of fun along the way and got to see some beautiful countryside. Last time I was here it was in its 7th year of drought, what a change a little water can do, beautiful.
Thank you for the puzzles and the cache hides, all logs were signed and all caches replaced as found. Sorry for the generic log, but as you can understand there are a lot of caches found today.

We are on a 2 month trip from Portland via the Mundi Mundi Bash to a wedding in Brisbane and then out west for QOGM in Charleville.
We spent the night in Tambo in the caravan park filling the caravan with water and power. We woke up early and thought we would have yet another tour around town before we hitched up and left town.
We needed to be a bit creative to dodge the roadworks and get into the cache - nice to see one from and an old time cacher. Quite the story as well.
Thanks for contributing to the fun djcache

A wet walk underfoot around this area today and we soon arrived at GZ.
Despite so much recent rain, the pathway was decidedly firm and with the sun shining, and little wind, it was an absolutely beautiful walk.
Log signed.

Found on Saturday 16th July 2022 after a hike along the Coolabah Trail circuit. Had to walk in as road closed to Qa.tas Crash Site due to Bridge upgrade. No one to sign log. With Kerry Hayward Wandering Dilberries.
Thanks for taking us to a very interesting site. We took our electric bikes the Barcoo and the Red River Gums are great TFTG
Found by Mary and David at 08:26 on our journey from Cunnamulla to Tambo. After our DNF yesterday, the CO and dear friend contacted us and, yes, we'd looked there. Back this morning at CO's request to replace it. We confirmed our conclusion from yesterday and replaced the cache as described. All good to go again. Just over 95 years since the event commemorated here. Wonder if there will be some sort of ceremony here to mark the 100th Anniversary? On the banks of the Barcoo has an iconic ring. Our thanks to djcache
D did as you suggested, and looked around carefully from that vantage point, at both ends, but couldn't spot the cache. A sad memorial, and we agree with your thoughts on the cache name and this location. Our thanks anyway to djcache.
Found on Day 5 of our QOGM 2021 travels on the start of our homeward journey. Thanks to djcache for placing this cache.
Took a little navigating to get around the roadworks, but it is possible. Satellite view is your friend.

Hi there djcache.
We found your cache **"Rainman"** today.
We approached from the nearby earth cache "This River Rocks", and after taking a few bush tracks we eventually ended up at a beautiful bitumen car park. We replaced the log sheet wit a new book and followed the bitumen out. (The construction crew were not pleased with us appearing out of nowhere and crossing their new road base.
Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache near where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log are in good shape.

Hi there djcache.
We spent quite some time trying to get here but couldn't. Construction works have blocked off access to the west of Dawson Development Road so here's a DNF from us.

Looking for something to fill in time whilst not studying, it was suggested that I finally get around to logging THOSE caches long found but never logged. Some even have funny stories of being visited not only once or twice, but a few even have had a third or fourth visit before realising I've been there done that. The date is as near to the correct day the cache was found. So sorry for the generic and late log.JABs.
Came from the other side of the river as we couldn’t seem to be able to get past the road works. There was a lot less water here than where we are camped so it was an easy crossing and then walk to GZ. Fortunately for us we didn't crash and burn here, but the myth about Qantas has been busted!
Today we moved from our camp just north of Charleville on the Warrego river to Tambo. Only a short drive but with the opportunity to pick up some caches along the way. Once in Tambo we set up camp just out of town and then proceeded to work on the caches around the area. Some great points of interest and features and a variety in cache format.
Thank you to the COs for your work in developing and maintaining the caches.

Found on my solo camping trip north from Adelaide.
After spending the night camped at Blackall, I made my way to Tambo, essentially via the Heartland Wherigo series, picking up selected other caches along the way.
No trouble finding this one.

There was a group of locals spread across the entire road when I turned down here. Had to drive in a slow wide arc around them to get to the end of the road and memorial. They were not pleased that a vehicle wanted to use **their** road

We have arrived in Tambo and set up camp on another hot day, along with ilook4geo. Today we went out hunting for some of the local caches. Each found cache had both names (or initials) written on the log and we tried to be quick as it was very hot - again. Thank you to the djcache for placing this cache in the Tambo area.
While camping at Tambo with goingplaces2, we went hunting for some caches on a hot day. It was very quiet in town. We had a good day and signed some more logs. TFTC.

In town for QOGM 2019.We have had a wonderful weekend with friends old and new. Our thanks to the organisers and CO's for all they have done to make the weekend so great.
I've had some technology issues over the weekend so instead of logging in order, I am logging today what I know we have found just to clear the backlog.
All caches were in good order, our TB's visited each cache. TFTC

Really enjoy these historical places especially when caching brings you to them.
Doing the Muster Trail with Team JKRS - Enjoying finding all these caches and boy is this such a long trail. Hope I remember to note all the ones found for logging later.
Sorry this could be another generic logging day but thanks for all the effort of placing and maintaining these caches. Now to wait for the unpublished ones to come out.
