26-Feb-17
Had a good look around gz but no luck. Plenty of swan nests around with abandoned eggs. A couple right at gz so maybe buried. Certainly not an easy find if it's there

We paddled our kayak to Bunga Arm to camp for a couple of nights and spent today finding a few caches in the area. Today was a nice calm day and very enjoyable on the water.
Not too many swans left nesting now, most of the young had hatched and swimming on the lake. Log was damp but otherwise ok. TFTC

Went out sailing for the day to collect a couple caches. Stopped here for lunch, then walked around the Island. Said hello to a Black Swan (from a distance) and was careful to avoid the bird nests. Cache was located and the mozzies were bad. Quickly signed the book. Left a TB. TFTC.

Thanks to Dave 'the muggle' for the boat and the know how to use it.

No birds nesting today, just empty nests.

This cache had us searching for longer then it should.
It was covered over with some natural growth.
The cache is in good condition, just a few ant on it.

Our second geocache today while out in the boat enjoying our wonderful lakes! TFTC

Searched for a long time but dnf.

Easy find with out Swans nesting. but the cache would be alot more sensible closer to the edge of the island in an elevated spot, therefore not causing stress to nesting Swan sites during breeding season. Having work in the wildlife field and involved in Bird banding and bird club outings this maybe a better outcome for birds and cachers, most of which i hope care for our birds and habitats. Give this a FAV for its location, and thanks Roger for the boat transport to the site.

Stopped to pick this one up on a geocruise of the lakes. No chicks in December. Have seen a few cygnets on the lake. TFTC

Lovely island no chicks but plenty of empty eggs tftc now for lunch

Our last find whilst cruising around Lake Victoria with DazRascal today.

What a beautiful little island. The sand was nice and white and the small waves were perfect for the GeoKids to dip their feet in.

Mrs H and Daz went for the 30m walk from where we parked the boat and made a super quick find. No baby chicks of any sort today, lots of empty eggs though and plenty out on the lakes.
Cache was crawling with ants, we did our best to clean it out and we replaced as found.
Many thanks for the experience out here today Jimmymaff! Great fun.

#2242

Last one on our cruise around the lake with the Haveanez crew.
Wasn't sure we were going to have time for this one but luckily we managed to beach the boat only 30mt from Gz to make it that bit faster.
Mrs H and myself took the short walk past old swan nests to Gz, where we found the cache in the open, and unscrewed the lid to find ants have made a nest of it.
With the log signed it was back to the boat to make our way back before we overran our hire time.

TFTC, would never have visited some of the spots around the lakes if it wasn't for caching Smile
Cheers.

@ 1pm Cache #849

[green] Great stuff geoyak caching![/green]

This ones been on my radar for quite sometime, but every time that I was in the area a crossing of lake Victoria by kayak just hasn't been possible due to unfavourable weather. Today however it was just perfect!
After successes on some interesting cache finds nearby I continued the very enjoyable paddle over to this island. What an interesting location and after admiring the locals for a short time, I then made a quick cache find with minimal disturbance. Took a few more photos once back in geoyak before heading back to Newlands point
Thx Jimmymaff for another excellent cache

[green]Merci beaucoup

Cheers Big Grin

My 4th cache on my Kakyak trip. There was a storm on the radar when I left "TheBird House" and I was not sure if I should go for this cache or head for home. As you expect my cache brain told me to get just one more, Once I found my way to GZ I was surprised by all the nests in this little island. Still lots of unhatched eggs. All still intact so there are no predators on this island. I took a few pictures before heading back to Banksia Peninsula park as I watched the storm roll in from the north. The lightening was motivation for me to keep going. This trip ended a nice 20k puddle and 4 cache run. TFTC

[:d] whooo!!!! My first FTF. I was up at 6:30 to head out for this one after a heavy rain during the night I had a break in the weather to jump in the kayak and paddle for this one. I kept looking over my sholder to make sure the Greynomads wern't coming up behind me.
Right up my street this cache. What a fantastic spot, I had to tred carefully Swans nests and eggs everywhere.
Thanks jimmymaff took FTF coin and certificate SL TFTC.
