Travelling around Australia in our Caravan with our cat.
Making our way south to Melbourne now, it's amazing seeing all the other travellers heading north! Are we heading the wrong way
Currently staying at Apex Beach we headed out today to see what Finley and Tocumwal have to offer!
Geocaching takes us to some amazing places and your cache certainly helped with that.

#1463 - Another quick find on an interesting local history tour of the area - tftc Blacklegend.
Another find in this great series. Unfortunately we didn't have time to do them all but still good to know some of the history of the airfield. Thanks Blacklegend for the caches.
Used the hint and had the cache in hand without any problems. Log signed and headed off for the next one......

Day 2 camped at Finley, and we headed out to pick up a few caches in the area.
We found a variety of caches, and cache hides. This cache was located, after a short search.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Blacklegend, for us and others to find.

Easy find on a lovely winter morning. Huge ants were furious with me disturbing their home!
Nice to have a bit of info about the airfield.
Nice to have a bit of info about the airfield.
Disturbed the wrong abyss nest then had a mans look and found the right spot also had to dust off the soil to get to the cache. Great ride out on my bike thanks
Still following the jogging muggle who's fast disappearing into the distance, no lycra and expensive joggers for this guy. This cache had the lid clogged up with mud due to some busy ants. A good tap and it was good to go for them to do it again. TFTC Blacklegend.
A fascinating installment on my wanderings around McIntyre Field today
There is a grande view of the hangers along the way
Gosh !! I'd love a block of land with one of those babies down the back

A quick caching run from Numurkah to Tocumwal and then back to Melbourne, this one was on the way.
I was now heading south from the Blowhole and stopping at these ones as I was going.
This was a great history lesson, which I knew nothing about.
This one took a little longer than it should have as I walk right passed the cache at first, then came back to it later.
Thanks to Blacklegend for placing this cache.

2 Days - 3 Family Members - 146 caches - 1 Power Trail - 1 Bull Ant Bite
Is there a better way to spend NRL Grand Final weekend when your team is not playing, than two days caching? We didn't think so!!! Saturday was spent caching around Tocumwal after picking Campbell up from his grandparents then heading back to Wangaratta for some night caching. Sunday we ventured up to the Buckland Valley and tackled the High Voltage Power Trail. We were blessed with fantastic weather on both days, which were filled with fun and merriment.
Pulling over on the side of the orad we waited for a muggle to pass us before Katy and Campbell got out to make the find. The cache was found and they were back in the car in no time.
Thanks for the cache Blacklegend.

Heading north today to Leeton to see the family during the school holidays. Fascinating reading the history of the airbase. TFTC
There was a lot of birdlife in the small lake opposite this one and we spent some time watching them before heading over to gz. We found the cache to be slightly buried by an ants nest whose occupants where less than happy to see us.

This one gave us our nature experience for the day - in multiple ways. Firstly, as we pulled up we spotted 4 brolga in the paddock, and then watched them fly off. They sure have a large wingspan. Then there was the sound accompaniment from what sounded like millions of frogs - well, thousands maybe . Thirdly, when I picked up the cache, I unleashed loads of bullants from beneath it. Fortunately, I got rid of them (and the cache!) before they got me. Signed the now ant-free log at 4:30pm.

Some serious rain overnight but we had purchased some gum boots so away we go.
Loved this series with the very informative cache notes and pleasant locations.
Rain and more rain. I got wet again with this one.
There was so much ware around we couldn’t actually see the features so will assume the were underwater

A few too many unfound caches in the Toc area meant a day trip was needed...
Cache was found uncovered and about 2 from from GZ. Returned to it correct spot while the gliders passed overhead.
Thank you Blacklegend.

Fantastic fun and great to see some different landscapes than we are used to.

# 1953. Caching around Tocumwal and Cobram today with Robmc and chewinprickles. There was a little bit of dancing going on at this cache. When recovered it disturbed an ants' nest so there was much jumping around. Certainly only a few relics to be seen in the distance. TFTC BL.
After some presumably recent rains the area had lots of waterbirds of varying types. Plus ants trying to build a nest around the cache! Hopefully there will be enough finders to keep them at bay.
Hi,
If you give me the lat/long details I can probably tell you what the building was used for, & even possibly some construction details.
I've been researching McIntyre Field the past nine to ten years.
kind regards,

#633 on day 175 of continuous caching after a small day yesterday this was set to be a bigger day after going to Yarrawonga MacDonald and finding their WiFi to be a little lacking I asked one of the employees there and he told me about a Laundromat that had a WiFi hot spot so off i went and collected a few more geocaches for the gps and started to work my way toward the days goal of at least 50 and yes I got there and added 1 for good measure.
35 of 51 for the day and this was my biggest day yet. Another easy find and with so many to find it would be nice to stay for another day but this is the start of the run back home. A turning cache you might say as I will need to be on my way. Dam it is only around 1200 and I would love to keep going. Will definitely have to plan the return visit for the ones I have left behind. This was another really interesting spot.
Thanks Blacklegend for a wonderful series of caches.

Me and my two boys headed up to Cobram to see Great Nanna (or grape nanna as my two year old calls her) as well as catch up with Marshy (AKA Blacklegend).
Grabbed a few caches in Tocumwal before meeting up with Marshy and heading over to Wagga. Very interesting history about the air field. Its amazing to think that such a large complex was here all those years ago.
Cache found and log signed.

Too dark to see the relics and foundations. Some great info on the cache page. Hard to imagine this place was the size it was back in its heyday. Would have been an awesome site to see all the different aircraft here ready for service.
