This cache:What a great background story, thanks for sharing! Quick find at gz, tftc!Today:Classic school hours trip for Mr. and Mrs. Dutch Kiwi to spend some time together outside without kids. Today's target was Glenduan & the nearby swamp area. We packed our gum boots and we sure needed them today! Fun times walking through the ankle-high water, searching for caches left and right. And not a single DNF, what a great day! Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining!
Thank you so much!! Its definitely worth reading the description. Amazing cache!
We found this quickly today on our way back to Blenheim. Over for the day on a social visit, enjoying a very warm summers day, tftc.
I need to find four caches today for my calendar loops, so this area was perfect. TFTC.
There is nothing like the noise of the old motorbikes as they race around a track. After a the walk along the boulder bank it was lovely to walk on flat land again. I enjoyed watching the model planes and helicopters take off and land at the club meeting near by.
In Nelson with TwigNZ, YetiNZ, Mr-mcgoo for a few days of caching and meeting up with other cachers from Nelson. All logs signed as NMTY.

Day 3 of my Nelson trip, along with NZ_B, YetiNZ and Mr-Mcgoo. This is something we planned a while back and have very much been looking forward to
During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.
Last night we had planned out our day to start near the top of Boulder Bank and work our way back towards Nelson. The only problem was the sudden publication of 4 new Caches, and what with New Zealand's foremost FTF addict amongst our number, we had a bit of a debate as to whether we would stick with Plan A or switch to a mad-dash Plan B. Plan A won out so here we are.
Having decided to leave the actual walk along the southern end of Boulder Bank to another visit, we headed in a little to have a look around the Whakapuaka Reserve instead.
A quick find at GZ thanks to the Hint. No issues to report with this one, so one we had signed the log the whole thing was replaced as found.
Thanks for setting this one up.

Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. With minimal specific agendas, and lots of unfound caches in the area, the goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding geocaches. Here is one we found.
This was day three, and another fifty plus day that had us focusing around Nelson town, starting here at the northern end and working our way south.
The log was signed as NuMpTY (or NMTY) for NZ_B, Mr-Mcgoo, TwigNZ, & YetiNZ

Thanks to SoBad for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

A nice quick find. Last for the morning here. The kids and I are a big hayfevery mess, but we had a fun adventure and explored a new area. TFTC
Needed to get out of the house for a bit so we decided to get this cluster of caches. Nice n easy find. Thanks.
Great random spot, thought it might be a mission when first walking toward location
Out to find the mystery cache somewhere in this area and would be sacrilegious not to find this whilst enroute. A quick find in a secure spot. Cache full of water. So emptied out. Dried best we can with a few napkins from the cache bag and log signed. Paper a little damp but all good here.
Mudddy Muddy Mud today!

Actually this would have been a good place to race motorbikes around. Even before I read the cache description I thought it would make a good track. So this is like the cache Wee Nippers...now I do remember ripping around there in my car when I was a lot younger. A great day to be out here and then at GZ I made a quick find. Thanks SoBad.
Andy had solved a puzzle in the area and as we had to come to Nelson to collect a few things we decided to collect a few caches as well.
WE made our way to GZ and as I was looking high for the cache I almost stood on it where it had fallen. Log signed, TB left. tftc

I found this one after failing to find 'The Quest 16' again. That one is proving elusive and anyone who reads this and takes pity on a blind cacher and wants to offer a hint, it would be greatly appreciated. To salve the wound of another DNF on that one, I walked the extra 300 or so metres in the hope this wouldn't be as difficult and like a couple of other recent finders, I found it in the second place I looked. There is a well worn geo-trail going to the first place I looked, but c:geo confirmed I was looking in the wrong place there.

What a great story! So Bad a member as a pre-schooler - brilliant! My speedway story is that my dad used to work a food stall at Ruapuna Park in Chch as an extra job, so me and my 3 siblings used to take turns going to hang out with him, open coke can boxes and restock the pie warmer and shelves with chips, etc. Great times, but we weren’t really a motorsport family so it stopped there after a few years. Still, that was late 70s/early 80s and there were some good crowds and crowd pulling acts in Chch then. TFTC SoBad. FP for the personal touch.
This weekend was a planned trip to Nelson that we organised a couple of months back.
My niece was competing in the S.I secondary schools athletics meet at Saxton, (quite successfully as it turned out), and as my brother had organised a house in Tahunanui for 4 days I had a base for a good weekend.
So I took the Friday off work, getting into Nelson while it was still dark in the morning to start a big day targeting highly favoured caches and anything else that took my fancy. Once reaching most of my goals and catching up with the tribe later that afternoon the weekend took a different slant, and it was all about the athletics, catching up and chilling out for most of the next two days.
Jo popped over on Sunday, and after the relays finished we just had time to make the Mapua event in the afternoon, then I grabbed a few more caches on the way home. A great weekend in so many ways, with Nelson turning on some great weather.
Thanks to all the COs, found some good ones

Out for a wander on the wetlands today. No problems getting to the cache. Walked in rather than took my by however. All in great condition. Thanks for the cache.
We have a new challenge and I have a couple of days of leisure before a minor knee op coming up. So the idea was to get as many points as I could before then.
Headed over the hill - grabbing a few caches along the way. Pleased for the dry ground under foot - lots of dry grasses around to navigate. Got a wee bit scratched up - but made the find ok.

Yee haa! This is our first ever geo cache find! Kids (5 and 7 year old) are stoked! Thanks .... and great history write up.
Heading to the Suter event for an out of town cache to get my calendar up to four per day. I am a smidge early so I stopped her first. Which I guess means this cache is my four per day cache, not the event.
I noticed the access I used was locked off for vehicles, and the sign said authorized vehicles only, but man there are a lot of tracks in the mud. Everything has a thin layer of sweater over it, my my shoes came out clean, rather than muddy, so I'm happy. The cache was a nice easy find, then I took a short cut to the next cache. Shorter distance, much longer time-wise. Oh well, wasn't too late to the event!

We would have loved to have seen the racing that used to happen here - good honest fun. I was heading for another cache but found the terrain wasn't quite what I wanted to go through today so I about turned and headed for this one. The cache was on the ground out in the open, so once I signed it I popped it back up in accordance with the hint and added a wee bit of natural cover. Thanks SoBad for the cache
As we wandered about near the Boulder bank Jules remembers Mr SoBad telling her a story about the salt flats. We were delighted to find ourselves looking for Father Ted's cache today at the very spot the story was situated. We loved the descriptions of the scene here in days gone by. They really brought the place alive.
Thanks for the story and for the cache.
Thanks for the story and for the cache.
From my childhood I recall there was a lot of activity out in the flats. Certainly a fantastic place for dog walking now
On a very hot and sunny day decided to come for a walk out here. Accidentally signed the log 11/1/16, the year is already going too fast for me to keep up with the months! Nice obvious hide, TFTC!
Accidently found this cache while trying to find a slightly dryer path through the marsh. I hope others remember to wear gum boots! TFTC
A fun mission through some bush as we parked further away... Exciting for the little ones to find!
Found on our 25 day New Zealand South Island holiday.
Apologies for the late log but with little or no internet as we travelled and only super slow WiFi in van parks I decided to log all finds on my return home.
Grabbed this one while heading North.

It's really nice to have a cache that contains a personal history associated with the area, especially when so many are placed in a location 'because it is there'. Without this personal tale, this site is likely to be one of the latter, more common scenarios.
Fortunately, the drizzle that had hung around all day had cleared by the time I arrived, so I was able to explore around without getting wet, although it was a little slippery underfoot.
The coords were spot on and I had soon navigated a path to the GZ albeit via a circuitous route. For an area so likely to be wet, that's one very dry cache.
Thanks

Ahh what awesome caches I have seen on my travels this week , from fake logs, to mint tins stuck to posts, to nanos under benches to awesome tree climbing cache hides, his week has been an awesome time to check out the new caches and of course old!! It was great to see all the different places too, like nelson, and greytown, and Blenheim of course!! Then there was the small tiny areas, where we stopped to see earthquake museums, with of course the ''rural' caches as I like to call them. then of course there was the significance of stop offs; like the bulla swing bridge, where I went, saw and conquered there and back twice, while dad stooof o the comfort of the flat grass, smiling, waving and taking pictures Funny, but the best part about that bridge was when the people who worked there, started to come across when I was I was about half way going back ,so they had to get past, so they tilted the bridge sideways, onto its side, so then I could get past, it was pretty scary, but awesome too!! Then the bridge bounced and went side to side and swung it was really awesome! Then as they walked to the other side they were jumping and swinging from side to side, it was great fun!!:)
But anyway the caches I encoun tered on my trip were rreally good, each one was different in some way, including popmacs mint trail series in the north island, which was a really neat idea!!
Anyway, I would like to say thanks tov all the great cache owners who took their time to place all these caches Thank you and well yeah TFTCs all round

A day trip to Nelson with my caching daughter nightowl19 and to boost her, and my, South Island cache finds. The day was 'planned' around the earthcaches at the top, and bottom, of Riwaka hill and entailed few inevitable stop offs, park and grabs, small walks etc, you get the picture. In the end we grabbed just over 20 caches and I moved closer, but not yet at, my target of 3000 finds (that will be done tomorrow)
Had a great day including a swim in the sea at high tide at Tahunanui, seeing the Riwaka resurgence and a fish and chip supper on Nelson waterfront, getting 'home' at 9.30 (for the second night in a row).
Temperatures today ended up reaching the magical 30 degree mark, too hot for some caches in the end so the plan was reduced a little bit.
Grabbing a nearby solved puzzle so had to get this one too, makes sense really
Nice easy find with accurate hint and co-ords

TFTC. Out to play for the weekend with the destination of Nelson. Caching crew on board were Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers, logged as PKTT for this trip. Gosh did we have fun looking for caches, most of which we found, in this very beautiful part of our country.
We managed a little sleep and commenced day 2 of our Nelson cachathon. Today was about picking up puzzle caches and having a great time. Four very excited kids!!
Thanks SoBad for placing the cache.

On a big mission up to Nelson over Show Weekend with Purdiepurdie, Karma Reprint and Team_Gaters we signed our cache finds as PKTT the 'power packet' but we called ourselves the 'G4'. We headed off on Friday morning at 4.30am. We had a mission that we wanted to perform in Nelson and this was the day to attempt it. After a good nights sleep we headed out for the day for more laughs, caches and poke our noses here and there, driving and memory making. It was a great day we didn't stop until about 11.30pm back to base for a cuppa and relax and getting ready to do it all again tomorrow!
Quick find, onto the next...
Thanks for the cache.

Cool photo and interesting piece of history. Probably looks quite different here these days, and it's hard to imagine thousands of people attending a meeting. Today just there were just a few orienteers and some model aircraft enthusiasts. It was a little slick under foot with the wet clay, so had to watch ones footing. Did they race on this surface? If so it would have been treacherous with just 2 wheels.
Cache was a nice quick find, then off to look for others in the area. TFTC.

#7920. Lots of tracks were in evidence today (of 4 wheeled machines belonging to the model aircraft enthusiasts). The cache was some way from where they were, so there was no problems in finding the cache unobserved. TFTC.
All very quiet today, not a motorcycle in sight. Just as well perhaps as the ground was so wet gumboots were almost mandatory.
A straight forward find, thanks SoBig

A quick find after waiting a few weeks for the area to dry. Still greatful for the gummy's. I can't remember the motor bike racing, but the sand yachts and radio controlled aircraft were always fun to watch, TFTC.
TFTC! after the other member of the party searching with no luck, I had a look and found it easily!
A quick find on a stop on the way to Blenheim. The rain had made the track very muddy and slippery, I'm glad I was wearing decent boots! Signed log, TFTC.
Another sunny day in the Nelson area. After a particularly bruising experience at a Maitai Valley geocache, this was very welcome. TFTC!
Quick run out and back in the rain with a nice splash in the mud thrown in for good measure. Chose not to hang around and admire the view this time but always nice to pop out here every now and again. TFTC
A beautiful sunny Nelson afternoon and time for a clean up of this area with Mrs MuzzaL53 navigating. Loved reading the history. The Excelsior record is unlikely to be overtaken now! TFTC
The day began rainy and cloudy but nevertheless I started a tour for geocaching this morning. From Nelson to the French Pass and up to Haveloc the way led me. Along there were a lot of great caches showing nice places and making this day a lot of fun with wet feet. Thanks to all owners for making this experience possible!
