It certainly looks like the cache has been consumed by the "Red terror". That tree has been well and truly singed. Great series of caches explaining a lot of our WW2 happenings that are not well known.
Seems theres been a scrubfire here and we were unalbe to find your cache. Think it's toast.
#1465 Pity you are unable to get closer to the test bays (maybe we need to add binoculars to the caching kit ) Another nice quick find here. Thanks again Blacklegend for drawing another historic site to our attention.
Pulled over and headed towards GZ and the cache was soon in hand. Another interesting spot on my tour around the airfield......
Thanks for the cache....
Thanks for the cache....
Day 2 camped at Finley, and we headed out to pick up a few caches in the area.
We found a variety of caches, and cache hides. This cache was located, after a short search.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Blacklegend, for us and others to find.

Wouldn't have known what these were its Amazing to see them still standing after sixty years
These structures sure stand out in the landscape !! [:o]
But I guessed what they were !!
I've seen similar bits of WWII concrete near Darwin, and at the olde Eagle Farm airport in Brisbane
It would be good to get closer, but this cache is a close as I'm going to get today.
TFTC and more McIntyre history

Found @ 2:24pm, find # 3096.
A quick caching run from Numurkah to Tocumwal and then back to Melbourne, this one was on the way.
I was now heading south from the Blowhole and stopping at these ones as I was going.
This was a great history lesson, which I knew nothing about.
It was a quick park'n'grab, signed log and off to the next.
Thanks to Blacklegend for placing this cache.

2891. I had to double back for this one, but it was worth it. A nice quick find and then a good check of the test bays.
Thanks BL for the cache and the history lesson. I really enjoyed this series.

2 Days - 3 Family Members - 146 caches - 1 Power Trail - 1 Bull Ant Bite
Is there a better way to spend NRL Grand Final weekend when your team is not playing, than two days caching? We didn't think so!!! Saturday was spent caching around Tocumwal after picking Campbell up from his grandparents then heading back to Wangaratta for some night caching. Sunday we ventured up to the Buckland Valley and tackled the High Voltage Power Trail. We were blessed with fantastic weather on both days, which were filled with fun and merriment.
Katy and Campbell went out and looked for this cache, Katy making the find quickly. Amazing the buildings involved back in the days that are still around.
Thanks for the cache Blacklegend.

Heading north today to Leeton to see the family during the school holidays. It took the Chief a moment to decide which way had the shortes grass. Cache safe and sound with no surprises!
Found with bogonghazy on a days caching around Tocumwal, whilst up on the Murray for the weekend. Thanks to Blacklegend for keeping the caches coming today, we certainly filled the whole day in chasing your hides, and we didn't even get them all.
After a morning in and around the river trying to get access through all the mud, it was nice to get a few quickies later in the day. Quick find here for SUlly and I, thanks again Ads
Found at 6:26:00 PM with Roostaman. A quick stopover to grab a few caches on our way back home from the Central Victorian get together in Echuca.
Thanks Blacklegend
Thanks Blacklegend
# 6010 Found with Fred6603 on a stopover in Toc after a week of Get Together events.
We went for a drive around the area after lunch to find a few more of the new caches since our last visit.
No muggles around here today and another quick find for the last one for today.
TN LN SL. Thanks again for all your caches Blacklegend,
Roostaman.

It's been a while since we've had a day out caching, but with studies completed, today is the day. Making a trip to Tocumwal to clear a few caches off our list.
Greg recovering from a sprained ankle, so most finding left up to me, especially on the rough ground.

We chose to do caching around Tocumwal today.

A few too many unfound caches in the Toc area meant a day trip was needed...
Like so many cachers, we didn't read the cache notes prior to arriving at GZ. Back at home I did read them and realised what the structures were. Quite an interesting story behind McIntyre Field and one worth reading further.
Cache found quickly before returning to the blow hole road.
Thank you Blacklegend.

We had company for a few yards with the knagaroos that jumped out in front of us. Little joey even got out of the pouch and ran away I mean hopped away. TFTC
Geonan searched for the hide while I was looking and listening to the Cockatiels, first time I've seen them in the wild. Signed the log and moved on to the next hide.

Being a petrol head I would have loved to see and hear those engines being run up here, not to mention hearing and seeing them in the planes also. One can now only imagine what it was like.
Spent today caching the North East with Bettyboo3747 and Chewinprickles.
Must have been a hell of a loud noise when they fired up those engines in these concrete bunkers.
I think I would have been very glad to be this far away.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 1951. Caching today with Robmc and chewinprickles. I have always loved the roar of jet engines. I lived on an Air Force Base for a while and have always loved the sounds of planes overhead. All quiet today except for a few light planes and the silent gliders making the most of perfect conditions. TFTC BL.
Seme of these side track can be bad but this one was pretty good. I was also thinking that to my untrained eye the crops were looking good. Let's hope for those concerned that they are.
So that is what those things were!

Been meaning to do this one for a while so while I was in the area I stopped for a quick find.

Found at 1:38 PM GAFF1 found at a distance of 9 metres. A rebuilt engine would need a lot of testing as would a new one I suppose.
Thanks Blacklegend

Find number 31 of 37 for the day with Chaplain Mike around the Tocumwal/Barooga area. SL TNLN TFTC!
Find 32 of 38 with Smart Sassy Siren for the day, looking to complete a couple of milestones, including Tigersden's 25 in a day Challenge, Smart Sassy Siren's 200th and Chaplain Mike's 250th.
AGAIN ... WOW , am completely blown away by the size of these structures, even more so by the fact that they're cut off from the actual airport these days. Structures like this have been and were dismantled many many years ago.

My first field cache. The most remote of them. There seems to be plenty of old infrastructure to look at around here. Thanks.

Me and my two boys headed up to Cobram to see Great Nanna (or grape nanna as my two year old calls her) as well as catch up with Marshy (AKA Blacklegend).
After spending a great fun day before having a bit of a road trip caching in Wagga with Marshy and a few of his kids it was time head home with my two boys today.
Great history of the airfield, very interesting. Once we made our way to GZ the cache was sson found and the log signed.
Thanks bro.

We've always wanted to visit this former RAAF site and didn't realise there was this much of it left standing. Would've seen some interesting things in its day. We found the coords around 12-13m off, putting us almost in the channel. These coords might work a little better. TFTC.
micheena - Gps wasn't sure where to go. She even got angry and jump off the window at hubby. Found without her help. Pity couldn,t get closer, but the camera done its best.
Found while in the area quickly.I had already got my cache for the 30 day challenge and didnt think that a couple more from this area would matter. This cache was the 2nd.It was stormy and very wet the road was muddy but the cache found quickly and easily. We could see the Test Bays on approach so had quite a good look from a couple of directions.

# 12 / 24 on a Cob / Toc night assault with Haveanez.
Had the same problem as spyspy2, our torches were just that little too weak to see the POI.
The Gps's had wandering around a bit, almost walking us into the nearby canal only stopping when we were walking on mussel shells.
Had to refer to the clue to make the find which was a big help. No doubt will be back this way to pick up more caches in the future so look forward to seeing what it is I've missed this time round.
TN LN, TFTC, Cheers.

Found on a good nights caching run with DJ Rascal.
We didnt get to see too much of the POI tonight, but did enjoy reading about the area on the cache page. Its pretty darn cold tonight, so a quick search and sign of the log and back to the car. Thanks for sharing this spot with us.
