Hi
This cache appears to have some problems. It is the cache owner's responsibility to read the logs and check the cache to sort out any problems with it and give an indication of when it may be up and running again for people to find.
**The cache is being Disabled to give the Cache Owner an opportunity to investigate and fix the apparent issues.**
Once the cache is operational again, the CO should write an *Owner Maintenance* log advising that the promlems have been fixed, and to remove the *Needs maintenance* attribute (red cross) if that is showing on the cache page. The CO can then write an Enable log to return the cache to play.
If the cache cannot be fixed it should be archived.
**If there is no response to this log after 30 days the cache will be Archived.**

The [Geocache Maintenance guideline](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#cachemaintenance) explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported.

Staying at the Lodge for the evening, I can confirm that the cache is not where it was when I found it. If I'd know I would have carried up a replacement container.

08-Oct-18
Alas...like other cachers, I headed up to the hut to see if the cache was here...and it’s not. Not only that, but there is a sign at the track junction that strictly says ‘Private Access’...so this cache is now off limits unless permission has been granted.

It should be noted that the last 3 found logs have certainly not actually found the cache, which means that the last authentic Fi͏n͏d was probably back in 2015.

Good search by a lot of enthusiastic searchers. No luck. Maybe needs checking given two prior DNF's

So yep, wish I had read the activity log before I came here... An empty basket. Oh well

05-Dec-15
We found the first wooden (old) step about 20m out from the lodge (as per the clue), we found a wire basket spot on where our GPS put GZ but we didn't find the cache. We spread out from GZ but still no cache. We headed off on our trek to the Cradle summit and on the way back checked again in case the cache had miraculously appeared; it hadn't. Never mind, a beautiful day in a wonderful place.

My grandad and I found this cache whilst hiking up to Cradle Mountain's Summit. We started our adventure at Waldheim car park and made the slow & steady walk towards BP Lodge. We arrived at the hut and had a small rest before searching for this cache. It was a great walk so far and the views were already awesome! We were very excited to reach Cradle Mountain.

The search for the cache took some time, but we eventually found the clever hide and signed the logbook.

Our thanks to Cached for the rest-stop and greetings from Canberra! Smile

On our [trip around the world](http://www.hoppundweg.piekar.de/) we came to Australia as well. We started in Tasmania, rented a campervan in Melbourne and went up the Eastcoast to Cairns. Then we drove all the way to the Red Centre. We finished in Darwin. We searched many caches and found almost every cache we searched for Wink. Thanks to all the owners of these caches. Now, 2 years later, we recognized, we will never be able to log every cache seperately... So: Sorry for this standard logtext and thanks for one of the caches, which accompanied us on our journey.

Oh wow... what a climb for an unfit pair. Had to have a few rests along the way. Almost turned back until we saw the lodge. Very pleased to locate the cache after the effort. Beautiful day, minimal cloud and a lityle bit of humidity. TFTC from a former rover scout.

Mea culpa to the co "cached"

I gladly change my previous log (needs maintenance which is deleted) to a good blue DNF

Apparently the hunt for this cache was not thorough enough and just missed
It's still there.... Maybe next time if I can come back to cradle mountain, likewise on a glorious sunny day as today has been
Thanks anyhow

Chip, Gronk, Stealth and I spent our first night of a 12 day walk here in BP Lodge. I always love this location, it is absolutely brilliant. First thing in the morning I ducked out here to grab the cache. It was not in a location as described, but I returned it to a spot that better matched the clue.

Cheers!

This would have been easier if we had approached from correct direction. Did the long walk and came within 300m twice then the track turned away again. Finally found the correct approach and a short climb compared to the last 2 hours. Cache bag full of water but log ok. Coins visited. TFTC Cached.

Pity we couldn't stay the night.

Visited this weekend. Cache was in place and in reasonable condition. Replaced container and logbook. Old logbook inside lodge (in draw) to dry out properly. If this log gets wet and you are staying over, please dry out and either put old log back out or new.

If you are staying, can you check on arrival and dry out over your stay.

19-Jul-13
Even with the clue and seven excited scouts looking we didn't find it....still, the views are amazing

12-Jul-13
Today we took a walk in the snow up to Marions Lookout and on to Kitchen Hut. We returned via Crater Falls and then took the side trip to the Scout Hut. There was a lot of snow about and even with the clue we couldn't locate the cache.

Found it, great spot. The weather was not great, there had been a lot of rain. The cache was full of water, even the zip lock bag was not immune and had a lot of water in it too. Emptied out as much water as we could, tidied it up. Pencil works on wet paper! Never tried that.

This was our 1st cache find in the caching run & we found it at 13:22
So this now makes our total find count 6001.

[blue]
The weather whilst not really unkind, was a bit ominous today. Our trip was raincoats on; raincoats off more than once. Not to protect us from rain, just the fine mountain mist that seems to lurk around these parts.

We enjoyed the stroll along the boardwalk, and even some of the up-hill going, but once we turned on to HorseTrack we (well Penny) discovered that we weren't quite as fit as we thought.

Had we read the previous logs, we would have brought up another container.
[/blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent (Under 2 metres)
Cache Condition: Container seems to leak a little, but the log book is in good shape, and dry inside it's bag..
Took: Nothing. (We did rescue the TB though)
Left: Duck
Thanks Cached for the hunt today.

Awesome spot for a cache, and one that we have decided deserves a favourite point! The weather wasn't too good the day we did this hike, but we decided that since it might rain every day we were at Cradle that we may as well attempt this cache. Loved the hike up ( even though we were probably a bit unfit - we still made it despite some huffing and puffing. There was lots of fog and low clouds, so we couldn't see too far, but the next day at Marions Lookout we could see the view that would have been at BP Lodge. We have left a TB in the cache that we picked up in Taipei at Christmas.

TFTC!

Found on our nice holiday roundtrip across Tasmania. I went the Dove Lake Circuit and befor the end I turn to Marions Lookout. Then down to Crater Lake, where I did not find the shortcut direct to cache. Therefore went down to crossing and heading up again for the hide. Good exercise. The weather was sunny and cold wind. Thanks for the nice view. TFTC.

04-Feb-13
Please replace the container as it would be such a shame to lose the log book and the geocache.

04-Feb-13
This looks like a brilliant place to stay and so rewarding to find a cache close to the trail rather than along the road. A favourite point for its stunning location. TFTC. But guess what? We too emptied the water out of the cache container. At least the log book is ok so far.

26-Dec-12
Very nice views from this cache location. Easy to find after climbing up some steps Wink.
Did some maintenance, because the cache-container was half filled up with water.
Now it's dry again. TFTC!!!!

11-Nov-12
On the way down from cradle mountain summit, I decided to detour to this instead of going straight back to the car park. It was a nice easy walk down to the hut and a quick find, having read the cache page! The container was full of water again. I dabed the logbook dryas best I could, but I did not have a fire like the previous finder. Carried on down to the broadwalk and followed it back to dove lake, waving at wombats along the way. TFTC x

10-Sep-12
Found while on scout camp up at the lodge. Container needs replacing as was full of water again due to the hole in the lid so dried it all out near the heater for a few days and replaced inside a ziplock bag.

On a side note the hut is available for Non-Scout members as well as members, the details are listed on the website for BP lodge. Smile

Mrsbiggles58 and I were celebrating or wedding anniversary at the Cradle Mountain Lodge so we decided to further explore the area as we had done on previous occassions. This time instead of the Dove Lake and Cradle Valley walk through to Ronny Creek we decided to attempt this cache. Well......up we went and mrsbiggles58 had a description for every upward step......and there are a lot of upward steps so I was deaf by halfway! I said the she could stay put and wait but no, more deafness was to come. We forged on as the weather closed in with rain and wind keeping us company for the rest of the day. We arrived at the hut rather short of breath.....(and me now profoundly deaf).......to find the cache in it's home. Unfortunately the cache was half full of water so we emptied it out and dried everthing as best we could before signing the log. We took nothing and left nothing. Loved the climb to the GZ but now have to see the doctor about hearing aide's.TFTC

BG (Before Geocaching) we came to Cradle Mountain three or four times a year - at least once in summer, once in winter and around Anzac Day when the fagus was at the peak of its colour change prior to dropping its leaves for the winter. It was always been a magical place for us and each time we see the area in a different "suit of fine clothes". We were surprised at the number of day walkers (including parents with young children) on the various tracks today and there were also about 6 people setting off on the Overland Track. The walk to the Baden Powell Scout Lodge was really enjoyable on this wonderful day. There were clear blue skies, an occasional cloud and the magical combination of greens, red and browns in the flora - the cold south westerly wind didn't dampen our experience at all. Our four children have very fond memories of times spent at the "Scout Hut". Two were scouts (one obtaining his Queens Scout Award) and two were guides (one obtaining her Queens Guide Award). The personal and interpersonal skills that each developed through the long and active involvement with scouting and guiding contributed significantly to their development through the pre-teen and teenage years and we are forever grateful to the scouting and guiding movement in general, and the leaders in Ulverstone in particular, for their guidance of our children. So it was with this background that we set off for the "Scout Hut" today. Although the last 300m was quite steep we managed to get there in about 45 minutes (from the Waldheim Car Park). The cache was a quick find given the detailed hint. It was only in the last couple of days that we realised that we were nearing a caching milestone. Hence our GC finds over the last few days have been ordered so that after 2 years, three months and 12 days the "Scout Hut" would be the most appropriate way to celebrate our 3000th GC find. TFTC Cached - it is a memorable one for us.

With thick cloud enveloping the mountains around Cradle Mountain Bruce headed off to this one while Sis and I (well rugged up) headed for the more sedate walk around Dove Lake. It took us 2 hours to do the walk by which time Bruce had done this cache plus another and we managed to meet on the shuttle bus prior to returning to the car to get our lunch and find shelter in the nearby picnic area. He said the view from gz was awesome and extremely cold. We thoroughly enjoyed our day at this NP and thanks for placing the cache Cached and Wacky
