No way I was going to try and find this cache, it may have been there 12 months ago but is it still there ?? It would be nice for the CO to take a photo of his / her arm after checking on it so we know they really searched for it and not just stated "Its still there"

24-Nov-18
Thought we'd give this a try. Didn't find the cache but we had soft hands for days... Big Grin

15-Sep-18
The male Triton tried his best to find this but we called quits on it. He does some crazy things but putting your arm into sludgy oil crap is just ridiculous!

01-Jul-18
DNF July 1, 2018

15-Jan-18
I checked this one just before the new year, it's still there, and yes, I got pretty dirty too lol

04-Jan-18

What to do on this lovely morning? How about finding the rest of the Geocaches in Coota before I start work this afternoon. I decided on Coota because I knew there was some new caches put out since the last time I was there. It was a nice trip to Coota. I loved the hike/drive around and my lunch (consisting of Buffalo wings and a Gatorade) before coming home. Thank you to CO for the caches I found and also for the fun I had today. Smile

This is my 'something' attempt at this one. I have lost count of how many times I have tried to find this one. I came prepared and again after 20-30 minutes (I seem to always spend a lot of time searching for this one). I swear I have checked everywhere in that spot but I still can't feel it. So I reckon one of three things has happened:
1. It fell to the unreachable bottom (most likely)
2. It was replaced in a spot which normal size hands would really struggle to get to
3. The last time is was found, it was thrown away and wasn't replaced (least likely)
Anyway this is another DNF from me Sad.

Had a go

12-Oct-17
Being at the start of a geocaching day, and looking at the possible location of the hide (after reading past logs) I decided I didn't want to be covered in grease and oil all day.

16-Sep-17
Looking very forward to visiting lovely Cootamundra again on Sunday 24 Sept till Tue 26th. With all the recent DNF's just maybe worth a CO check on this to be sure. I don't mind getting down and dirty for that yellow Smiley.

09-May-17
No find here.

15-Apr-17
We got dirty hands, dirty knees and grease and oil in all kinds of spot. Unfortunately we didn't get any caches Sad
Either way we enjoyed the search.

12-Jan-17
Had a good hard crack at this one complete with rubber gloves and plastic bag taped up right the way up my arm. I wasn't gonna go for this one unless i had "Protection" . I felt every cog, wheel and gear in the "Sludge Pit" I felt a nice flat spot within where i 'wished' it would be. Feeling around in here i was so hoping i wouldn't get my arm caught . I'm hazarding a guess the little sucker has dropped to the 'unreachable' bottom. I loved having a go at this one anyway. Thanks for such a mean and 'Nasty' but cool hide i had fun

23-Nov-16
No luck

17-Jul-16
No where to be seen. Was getting dark and decided to call it a day. We'll be back.

14-May-16
I forgot to log my DNF for this. I came prepared with 2 very explicit hints from two finders and despite feeling around for a long time all around and getting grease up to my elbows I still came away empty handed. The bottom is full of water from recent rain and after seeing some green stuff on my hands I decided it wasn't worth it. If I cut myself I am sure I would get a nasty infection.

09-May-16
A friend told me about this one so I came prepared as shown in the picture. I spent 30mins trying to find it but I was made to abandon my looking as it started to rain quite heavily so it was a DNF from me Sad

09-May-16
Here is the picture.

01-May-16
Missed this one today.

29-Apr-16
Sadly no find this time :'(

24-Feb-16
I made a point of finding every other traditional cache in Coota tonight but skipping this one as I don't much like nanos especially ones where you get rather grotty before dinner. So this is on the list for next time if I have nothing else.

06-Feb-16
Plans were made with one of the FurfacesLL ladies to do a country drive through some towns in a big loop and clean out a few areas. Main targets of the day were Cootamundra and Junee Smile

We had plans to leave at a certain time, however, I foiled those plans when I woke up late, however we still left at a reasonable hour [:p]

What can I say but YUCK YUCK YUCK!!! This was definitely NASTY!! Took quite a while, ended up with oil, slime, mould and god knows what else covered arms. It took us forever to get clean, and finished up with very sore bruised arms. Good luck to next finders, wasn't pleasant that's for sure. The things we do for a cache......

Thanks for the cache placement Tigersden Big Grin

06-Feb-16
The day had come to head out on another geomissin with Rapidlywild, weather was awesome so what better way to spend a Saturday then go caching out in the country side.

All I can really say for this one is YUCK. I have never gotten so dirty looking for a cache. Not sure this one isn't considered buried either. The amount of leaves and sticks and I don't know what else we pulled out of there. Bruised arms and the grease up to armpits. Took longer to clean the grease off in the end, a quick dash over to the petrol station by RW was needed to get some pump soap which helped a little.

Advice to the next cacher to attempt this one.... Take degreaser with you and a caching tool.

22-Dec-15
DAMN IT, first DNF today...
HATE that took us long time searched...
dont want to get dirty on my hand....
Another time come back...
Thank for having us here Sad

13-Nov-15
Yes, it is still there. Will up the difficulty on this one I think.

28-Oct-15
IS it worth having a look to make sure this one is still there?

08-Apr-15
Looked around for ages but it was really greasy so we didn't end up finding it.

05-Apr-15
We definitely recommend a long skinny arm.

23-Feb-15
I had to try this one, with no luck, I even had someone talking me through it, but still came up with nothing but nails full of grease. I think it has gone swimming. it might need CO to look
I will be back very soon for this one
Thanks

01-Feb-15
No luck - only fifteen mins then give up oops... DNF for me. Thanks

01-Jan-15
Out spending a couple of days with my eldest daughter finding caches in the Yass/Bookham/Cootamundra regions. Towards the end of a long day of caching and that it is dark, I wasn't able to locate this one. It will have to wait for another day. 127 Finds plus 2 DNFs for today so far. A great start to 2015. Thanks tigersden.

26-Dec-14
Interesting spot but too many hides holes for the newby! JetKat

11-Nov-14
Um yep a nasty little nano alright ew

14-Sep-14
I do not spend long on the machine mounted caches there are far too many places for a magnetic nano to hide.
I like to inspect the machine read the history on such machines and study them from an engineering standpoint...
If the cache jumps out at me I will log a find otherwise it is a DNF

[:(!] Went for a weekend caching run to do the ES Series (Endangered Species Power Trail), after spending the night at Burrinjuck Waters State Park (I recommend it), I was once again on me way back to my abode and picking up a few caches along the way and this was one of them, parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, on arrival at GZ the cache was located and it was in hand in a matter of minutes, thanks for the hint "Kel Mar", once the fog had lifted, the sun was out and it was a marvelous day for caching after experiencing the previous day of miserable weather.

CoolCoolCool I love it CoolCoolCool

Big Grin TNLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBMH TigersDen [^]

couldn't find it... :'(

01-Jul-14
Add another strike... think we found hidey hole but no luck today

01-Jul-14
No luck today have good idea where it is but not putting hand in to feel for it without gloves

21-Jun-14
TFTC you are right very nasty little cache it took awhile but finally in our oily hands. We used a shopping bag for our hands but proper gloves would be better. If you have a small hand that's good.

DNF for us today, hate it as much frustration searched age, unlucky... Good tricky for sure... Thanks Sad

02-Feb-14
I'd heard about this nasty little number from fellow SA geocachers, Freddo and Team Astro, so I was prepared to do the work.In not finding it I don't see that I have failed but that I took up the challenge and now know full well what to expect.I was SLIMED, just like in Ghost Busters and with the assistance of my fellow geocaching companions (who would've claimed glory but not put her hand in there) scrubbing brush and soap,I almost felt clean and I use the term almost clean very lightly.
I did enjoy the challenge and I will return with degreaser and a full length vet glove.
By the way has anyone told you that like you container fluid, you are scum, nice scum but still scum. Smile

02-Feb-14
On our way home from Canberra with TK2 I read the description and TK2 says "yea of course lets do it" I watched on and after seeing what TK2 looked like I said no thanks " yucky"

29-Dec-13
What's yellow and red and green
And nowhere to be seen?
Travelling, and not prepared to get down and dirty on pain of slow death from Smyfwyf.
Cootamundra. What'll they think of next !!

24-Dec-13
OMG this one was the most disgusting one to find!!! Be prepared for yuck and guck !!!

24-Dec-13
The ickiest one ever! Finally found it with darzee di and geoglors.

24-Dec-13
This is my third time trying to get this one with ynnbub and the first time with geoglors. Took a garbage bag this time so as not to get dirty, that doesn't work so braved it and stuck my arm in right to the shoulder and sticky icky oil/grease was finally worth it.....touched the nano a couple of times as well as lots of leaves and sticks I pulled out and just had to keep going and yep finally got it in my fingers and pulled it out....Yippee. The clean up afterwards was very difficult and had to eventually use WD40 to get the yucky stuff off, still smell a bit nasty now I know why it is called nasty nano...I think this is my hardest one I have done, tftc tigersden

09-Nov-13
Well I keep coming back to this cache Razz
Like a moth to a bright light [:o)]

I followed a familiar routine.

A poke here,
a poke there,
a poke, a poke, a poke everywhere !! Razz

And the result was the same as the last few tries.
A looming DNF and grubby fingers Smile
But I could not leave this one alone !!

I poked some more ....
This time I must have been holding my tongue in the right place as felt around Razz
My finger tips felt the unmistakable feel of a nano cache [:o]
I carefully jiggled it and finally got a firm grip.

Woo hoo !! At last Smile
Natsy cache !! Twisted
But I approve [^]

As for the trailer thingy ...
It has to be a hay baler !!
Doesn't it ? Razz

28-Oct-13
99% sure I know where it is... Not worth the mess if you ask me.

28-Sep-13
Only found a Rubiks cube kinda thing with an on-off switch on it and put that back.
Won't be back at Coota for a while but have left the caching bug with some relo's there that might take up the challenge.

14-Aug-13
Returned again; this time I did a bit more research and a had better understanding of where this nasty nano is. Yes, I braved it. No, I didn't find it. Yes, the park needs soap. No, I was not easily cleaned up. And Yes, I will try again, better prepared. (anyone know where I can get my hands on those gloves the vets use?! Red Face

Had a bit of time to spare so took a detour from Harden to Temora, via Coota.

Of course, the rain started just before we arrived at this GZ. We found a dry seat for the kids to eat lunch, gobbled down some lunch ourselves, then GeoHusband and I commenced our search.

We searched and searched. Climbing and crawling in the wet. The GeoKids finished their lunch, got tired and cold, and retreated to the car. We perservered and continued our search. Then, shock of all shocks, I called it a day and headed to the car while my GeoHusband continued the search!

After a while he gave up. I'm pretty sure he had a headache. The search left him so exhausted I was on my own for the rest of our caches for the day!

I'm sure we will return to this one....after a bit of a break!

TFTC.

04-Aug-13
After reading the logs and sussing out the object, if the cache is where I think it is there is no way I'm sticking my hand in there! So it can remain a DNF! Haha. Nice location for a hide though.

03-Aug-13
2271. Well after a DNF back in Easter 2012, I said I would be back and today was the day. I arrived here at about 8 oclock with only an odd vehicle passing by and began my search again. Much delight was had when the nasty critter was finally captured.
As this one has been on my watch list since my DNF, all the logs have kept me very entertained. I enjoyed the challenge and the the jubilation when I got to sign the log so I am happy to give it its first favourite point, although I wont need it in my list to remind me how much I enjoyed this one.

To sum it up, "it is what it is".

TFTC.

01-Aug-13
Finally found the little bugger with scoty308 just about to give up once again and hey that moved worst part is I have been there in that spot probably six times and never felt it TFTC.

01-Aug-13
Gotcha you little bugger, found with Mick_d.

27-Jul-13
Had a good look on a very cold morning but this one is not for me today. Hands are now icicles so time to move on and thaw out

26-Jul-13
Truth in advertising. It's in Coota. It's a nano. And it's definitely nasty. And there was no soap in the nearby facilities... Had a hint from a much earlier finder, but it still took me a while and the torch was no use at all. Strictly braille. Evil.

Thanks tigersden.

15-Jul-13
Took a few attempts but finally found it! Tftf!

06-Jul-13
Had a another go, this time with the geo-crew but again no luck. At least the kids enjoyed a bit of a ride.

07-Jun-13
Looks like a difficult and sometimes controversial cache judging from some of the past logs. I couldnt really look for it today as there were a few late afternoon muggles sitting about GZ. I will visit again though and try the challenge when Im next in town if its not been muggled. Cheers

02-May-13
2 pair of eyes were unsuccessful after almost an hour of wandering around looking like real shifty ferals. We had to give this one a miss.. Until next time! We will NOT let it beat us!! ♡ TJ.Hanno xx + Eliza

Too nasty for us!

17-Apr-13
Now I know how a Vet must feel. Grease up to my armpit and nothing moved. I don't doubt it's in there but I think my arms and fingers are too short and fat for this one (anti-chunky discrimination?). Pulled out bird remains and various obstacles but happy to call it a loss and retreat after 20 minutes in the bowel of the monster. Adding to the debate, I do think that the odd toughy is good for caching humility and should be preserved as a challenge, a medal of combat if you like. Thanks for the lesson.

10-Apr-13
Not sure why we even attempted this one. A bit hardcore for us. If you find it you only get 1 find, the same as an easy one.

07-Apr-13
Yucky

07-Apr-13
Yucky

30-Mar-13
As soon as I turned the corner to park the geomobile, I recognised this place Razz
A place of a previous DNF Sad
Well it is always good to be back for another try Razz
But with a difficulty of 4 point 5 on the difficulty scale, I could only cross me fingers and hope that one of them found the cache this time !!
Another fun half hour of poking, prodding and oily fingers and the muggles arrived.
"Hey go away kid !! This is MY tractor !!" [:o]
Cheeky 8yo muggle just walked right up and took over the driver's seat !!
I can't blame him !!
I always wanted a tractor at his age too [:o)]

So once again, I admit defeat on this tricky little cache.
"Centreline, eh!!", I'll have to remember that clue for me next visit Big Grin

Thanks for the Coota fun and games [^]
We loves a challenge [:X]

I'll add Coota to my list of townes with challenging caches.
Just after Bendigo on my alphabetical list !!

25-Feb-13
lol Received the message asking for a hint, but we find it rather impossible to give you a return message when your number is from a BLOCKED/UNKNOWN number.

The only hint we would have given was look centre.

25-Feb-13
Looked high centre low centre front and rear centre and after 4 stitches and a tetanus needle i think this one should be shelved its giving Cootamundra a bad name for caching. I feel sorry for the people who make a special trip search for hours and are deluded at the end.I live not far from the cache and can tell you the amount of DNFs logged is only a fraction of the actual count.

25-Feb-13
I am sorry you feel this way, but I am not going to be archiving this cache just because you want it done.

There are much harder caches out there, so I suppose you are going to put the same comment on those ones if you cannot find them?

I am not sure why you think it is giving Cootamundra a bad caching rep, but you obviously have not cached in Bendigo or any other place that has harder caches.

Sorry if this offends, but your log was not called for.

If you have a problem with someones cache, you contact the CO, not put it in a log.

I suggest you get a few more finds and come back and try again.

And yes this caches is still there, I checked it at Christmas time.

23-Feb-13
OK, you asked for an honest assessment of our experience with this cache. We four pair of eyes searched for an hour when we would have preferred to have had a find in under 30 mins and seen a little of this lovely town.
Searched high and low, got greasy, found half a magnet, watched and smelt the emptying of a Winnebago's sewage tank into the nearby sewer, rang the CO for a hint (left a message) and kept looking. Had to go when an old fella strolled over for a chat and it was too sus to stay.
I think a clever hint would be the trick here, because it is disappointing to come far and not find!

06-Feb-13
DNF at 1:11:31 PM. We poured all over this small tractor and got awefully dirty hands without any luck. We ran out of ideas and thought that we had to go deeper, but our hands were not small enough.
All the time there was a muggle cooking his lunch at the nearby BBQ wondering what the heck we were upto! Never came over to help though Smile
Thanks anyway tigersden & nannymo - too good a hide for us.

20-Jan-13
Well, well, well, for some reason this didn't appear on our PQ but a quick look on the iphone and it appeared. Mmmmm.....hasn't been found for a long time and it is getting dark so with torches in our hands off we went as it was walking distance from our motel. Geohubby was being eaten alive and wanted to give up and as we were just about to leave......my hand felt something!!! Oh yes it is that NASTY NANO!!! Oh so worth the bites.....well I didn't get bitten so I think it was worth the bites!!!

14-Jan-13
first DNF for 2013,, no find since 2011. Oh well my name is on the list

31-Dec-12
Searched with five pairs of eyes but couldn't locate cache only found a magnet.

24-Dec-12
Driving through to see Mum, we thought we better check this one, and yep, still there. Gave it a new log as we won't be up this way again until next Christmas.
Happy Holidays everyone.

19-Dec-12
Searched for a while. No luck ??

19-Dec-12
22 pairs of eyes couldn't locate this one

08-Dec-12
Well I guess I had no luck after all the others with DNF. The area is full of possible hiding spots but considering how many people are in the DNF list could the owner just check to see if the cache is still in the location. I spent a good 30 minutes in the midday sun. Almost melted away. Come back on a cooler day.

07-Dec-12
I arrived at GZ with hopes low.... and was not disappointed Smile
After a leisurely hour of searching the area, I left with the expected DNF Big Grin
Yes !! This IS a nasty nano [^]
It could be in one of 1901 places Wink

01-Dec-12
Enjoying a traveling holiday from Canada and doing a bit of caching along the way. Unfortunately this one was a nasty nano, it's either very very well hidden or it's gone missing. We searched for quite some time but finally had to give up.

02-Oct-12
Like most others I only found the 3 lone magnets.

Might rry again next trip through the area.

19-Jul-12
Well after two visits and even a "phone a friend" all I could find was the three magnets that others have found.... maybe next time.

24-Jun-12
I looked and looked. I did find a trio of tiny magnets that looked like they belonged in a nano cache. But no cache seen.

Adding my name to the list of DNFers Sad

02-Jun-12
if this cache is there i will eat the steering wheel ! dnf

Way too hard for us.
GZ was 2 meters in front of it but we searched and failed.
Oh well.

09-Apr-12
This one escaped 3 sets of eyes and thirty probing fingers. I now have skin off my ankle, a bruise on my head and grease upto my elbows. Just got very frustrated, but as big Arnie says "Ill be barck"

21-Mar-12
Despite a very descriptive clue from the owner I still had no luck. Suspect it might need a maintenance check.

23-Feb-12
Just adding my DNF to the list
I gave up when it become too dangerous after cutting myself on the sharp edges

18-Dec-11
Like I said sometime you just don't know when to stop however this one was not found by me this time through I know you have hidden it her somewhere but it is very evasive and maybe this one will have to be a midnight run to try again with the torch and mirror to examine the nooks and crannies as the hands are just too big to get in.

Could use a little hint. Is it actually on the tractor or was my GPS not lying and it is in the bush.

Thanks for the challenge. even though I did not complete it this time.

28-Nov-11
YES...it is still there, you just need to look a bit harder...hence the DIFFICULTY rating.

Had a good look but nothing, there was one here that went missing some years back, hope this one has not suffered the same fate, please advise if it is still here.

Well a DNF for the Bunny crew here tonight. Found some magnets that may have secured the cache but no cache.

03-Oct-11
4035 + 207 = 4242. I couldn't make the Coota Event on Saturday but I could do a similar run today !

Second time lucky for this one. First time here today there were Caravaners everywhere. So I came back and after a bit of searching - I hate these types of caches !! - getting a bit dirty in the process - I made the find. Correct - its a Nasty Nano all lright ! Thanks tigersden !

TNLN - TFTC !!

Cheers....

01-Oct-11
Eeeek... not one of these types of caches!! At least I was in good company & had lots of experienced cachers to assist with the find. But that didn't do much good, because we still couldn't locate the cache until after tigersden had confirmed the cache was still there - thereby giving us a big clue to the general vicinity - and a joint *FTF*. I feel sorry for the cachers that follow, who do not have this advantage - it really is a nasty nano!
TFTC tigersden & I trust you enjoyed your reunion.

Albida, Tankengine and I had a go at this one for about an hour before the event with not luck so returned with the mob after the event but still no-one could place there hand on it.

A quick call to the owner who came and confirmed that it was still there and SDL made the find shortly after for another mob *FTF*. This one is rather nasty as I know I looked there the first, second, third....... time[B)] Thanks tigersden.
