It's been almost 4 years since I found this cache....
Went back after the reports that it was lost. The whole area is much more open than it used to be. The tin is still there but it's been obviously moved and the area is disturbed.
I think this cache is gone, gone, gone.

I think this cache is gone, gone, gone.
Found the iron but no cache. Searched all around, but there is no trace. Our co-ordinates said we were in the right place. Wonder if its gone???
Searched the track, found a place where a small scrub fire had been started. Also found 5 or 6 handsaws in the bush. Got close to the co-ordinates but I think I was in the wrong place as it was getting dangerously close to the cliff and being a 67 year old man I didn't want to end my Geocaching just yet. Will try another day.
Out with the Master today and we both confirm the cache is gone. Willbuild has found it it before as per the picture. But kids building huts in the area, would have used some of the tin and found the cache and taken it.
Unbelievable. went straight to it. Took 30 seconds. I even remember the spot from 10 months ago. Can't believe I didn;t find it then.
Thanks.
Took Spiderman cap because it was mouldy.

Phew! Third time lucky! (But this time we tried in daylight!)
We were still way off though, we searched for about 1.5 hours, and just as we were about to give up (for today) - we finally found it. Hard yakka! Thanks for the challenge. TNLNSL. (We took a WP when we finally found it, it's a bit different that the one given in the description - it might help someone who's having the same trouble as we had). It's not a night-time cache, nor is it a good introduction to geocaching cache and it's not a quick-grab one neither (for us at least - but by reading the logs most people found it easier than we did!)... Good luck everyone else ... "Just off the track", yeah right!

Second time, this time better prepared, and ready to get "off the beaten track"... However, we again chose a bad time - about 20 minutes after sunset, it quickly got dark, so out came our torches for another 20 minutes... and no luck.... We'll be back! Hopefully it will be third time lucky!
Crashed around in the bush but kept heading in the direction the GPSr pointed and sure enough got straight onto it without any problems. Thanks. TNLN
It was our first geocache and it was real hard.Come prepared for you might get a few pricks from the gorse. It was heaps of fun and we want to do more.

Had a wee explore with Auckland friends on their first geocache hunt. Ended up spending alot more time treasure hunting around the streets amongst the treasures put out on the street for the inorganic collection. A great place to collect all you need to furnish a flat!!
Glue sticks out pencils/pad in.

My first cache . Bought my GPS and an hour later after figuring out how to use it set out to find it. Found it no difficulties since I live around the area and have spent many hours poking around the Lynfield bushes.
Parked in Marco Polo Ave, and walked down the grassy bank which led me to the closest spot (50m) to the cache from the path! In the bush GPS got me to within 3m of the cache.

My second attempt at this one, this time went in more prepared, decent boots for one. GPSr led me to the same area I had searched before, but I pushed on towards the cliff. Once nearer the cliff I was able to get a better lock and get the correct area. Found within 10 mins of leaving the car. Just as I opened the cache it started to rain, by the time i made it back to the car I was one drowned rat. Spent the next hour removing seeds from my legs.

Had Sarah & Hollie the spaniel with me on this one.Found a track into the GZ & walked right past it to the cliff.Took a bearing & went back in again. We had passed within 3 metres of it.Took the cliff side track out.Wouldn't do this one at night.TNLNSL.Cheers AKA

Ah this was fun - geocaching of old I had tried a couple of old tracks, but they petered out pretty quick. Strolled around the tracks and it soon became evident that, yes, I would be required to bush-bash. Well, its not like I haven't done that a few times before I eventually found a reasonably easy track down using a gully that didn't involve too much blood, and soon found the cliff. The GPS wasn't that accurate under the canopy so I resorted to the hint, and found it after about 10 minutes wandering about. Didn't make any exchange, grabbed a couple of photos near the cliff, and then made my way out the way a came in. Kind of Cheers Gav [436]

Just passing in clean cloths but decided to do little recon for later visit - Big mistake - got addicted - left the track - kept bashing round on circles. Tried jogging in bush to get GPS compass working - bad satellites.
Found it just where it was meant to be. Home for more clean cloths and another shower.
Well placed cache thanks

Had a spare hour so thought i would give this a go, spent 30 minutes thrashing around in the bush, to no avail, read clue, spent another 15 minutes thrashing in the bush. Time up and defeated covered in hook grass seeds i headed back to track. Thought spotted the clue spent 10 mins investigating every nook and cranny of it, finally convinced cache had gone. Came home exhausted and read other logs, ok im not alone, did not find clue or cache but Arnie said it once so I wont repeat it, this bugger aint going to beat me!
Well, well, well, if only we'd read everyones logs before we went. After finding two caches in Auckland already today we were keen to get another find in before dark! Well, sunset came and went while we were still scrambling around in the bush! Several times we stopped and started over again, walking backwards and forwards along the path, not getting closer than 50m from the cache, thought impossible as it was "just off the path"! We found a place that sounded just like it on our way out, using our cellphones for light we scrabbled about trying to look under the material, no luck, have sinse figured it wasn't there anyway, as it was in fact "just off the path".
Thanks for the challenge and the exercise though!
We'll be back!

Awesome day for a walk. Had a couple of false starts down into the bush before finding the way. Used clue. GPS had us about 16M away.
Removed busted pen and replaced with sharp pencil otherwise TNLNSL
Had a good laugh at St. Ouens log entry while we were reading the Palm; My first instinct was to approach from the beach.
Thanks for the cache.

Well....
I was not on a roll. Two days into the long weekend and I was having a nightmare caching time. This was to be the one.
First up found the parking place suggested by JGarvey's note and quickly got the "area". However, coastal path never got closer than 50m+ according to GPS; had a quick sortie in an open area close to the cliff edge and decided to go to the nominated park place for safety's sake.
Once there, given it was low tide a walk round the beach looked a definite starter and remained so until quite close the spot when it became clear that the cache was in fact back up on the cliff. Fortunately there's a good rock / tree climb to get where or kinda where you need to go.
Now we're homing in - it's dense bush; hidden gullies; deep grass - challenging. Cache site appeared to be an area of felled timber - groan. Then further South back into the bush.
Looked around and around. Can't find it. The clues make no sense. I can't find the material the cache is s'posed to be under and the cliff isn't that close and its well off the the path. JGarvey comments seem to make sense given my original readings on the path but I was not successful in a straight to....finding. Ahhhhhhh! Nearly decided to give up caching on the spot but found two next day so we're sweet.
Of course I WILL find this one - haven't failed yet. It just takes time. Thanks for the exercise; and a nice spot to go caching; I mean crashing through the bush.

Found 11:00, our first NZ cache and our first OS cache what a great location? Fantastic views, shame it had to rain [B)] We took this opportunity to introduce some of our local friends to the sport so perhaps there will be a new team in Auckland in the not too distant future.
Took NZ patch and left TB Frannies Chip, thanks AKA.

Really nice walk but dark clouds overhead suggested it might be a quick one. As soon as I found the spot (at least according to my GPS) it started to absolutely bucket down so had to call it quits before finding the cache. Will come back another (sunnier) day.
Lots of suburban driving around (think there is a
closer park if you're really lazy!). From reading
previous logs I just went bush-whacking from 50m
and went straight to it. Brought ziplock bag for
notebook. Lovely view.

walked back and forth along the track not getting less than 50+ meters from cache till trusting the Gps and heading bush
Gps got us to within 2 meters of cache
could the next cacher take a ziplock bag as the logbook is getting damp and I was without

[Coordinates took me to a spot right in the thick of it and nowhere near the] cliff. [In fact I found the closest point of the] cliff [to be approx. 24m away but after reading some of the previous logs, I think perhaps I should try approacing from a different direction.

visited with runzz and surgez while we were in area.
drove round several back streets trying to find the carpark area. bushwhacked the area a bit to get near cache, with poor signal we had a large area to search. area near by has been disturbed by tree felling - but it has not affected cache.
thanks!

Good spot of bush whacking involved. Really neat walk, recovered the cache a little as it stuck out like a sore thumb. Clue was very good though. Found with Dysentry and Runzz
Second one of the day for us along with msc1974 but it was nearly a cache too far. Walked in from the car park and up the cliff path, easy enough. From then on it became a struggle. Trying to get the GPS to lock on close to the site was tough, and describing the cache as being "just off the track " - yes I had to resort to looking at the clue - seems a bit misleading to say the least. The difficulty rating at two and a half stars is not enough for my way of thinking.
Once again had to remove foodstuffs and sweets that were going over
Took nothing but filled in log book.

Joint effort with Jandgee.
Second cache of the day... Went with the in-laws because we thought the cache maybe OK for them. If this cache is a 2 and a half I'll show my backside in the local shop window. I'd suggest this cache is at least a 3 and a half and a 4 maybe even a 5 on or soon after rain. Very hard to get a GPS lock under the very dense tree cover.
Took all the food stuffs out... Geocache and food don't go together very well.
Hardest cache up to yet for me and not very rewarding... just got scratched, bitten and very wet.
IN: NIL
OUT: All food stuffs... sticky and going off.

Found this one after two attempts - first attempt yesterday failed even though I was quiet close to it. I didn't have the clue sheet and the GPS cover under the trees wasn't great so I was all over the place
Easy find, bit wet in places but cache in good condition and all OK.

Had a great time finding this one with the help of neighborhood local Ian who came out to see why we were poking around in the bushes with a compass. After hearing what we were doing he was keen to join the hunt, so we hope to see him geocaching again soon! Took one glue stick for Ian, Silly Putty for us. Left stretch alien. Thanks for a good cache!
[Yes another wild goose chase yet again......gps coordinates and clues pretty vague.....made a few calls to find this one but to no help as his memory wasnt too good..Ended up parking in the best spot to do this one, with a easy walk down to the cache area, found the mozzie infested swamps, the bottomless tomos all agmost the prunings from the houses above. Swapped nil but still had fun.]
The gps had a good lock always taking me to the same spot, but found Navigull's clue very misleading as the cache was more located 15 mtrs approx. to the south of the given waypoint. Look for the old collasped bivvy.

Found this one on a fine Anzac Day afternoon. Having read other searchers remarks re gorse, bogs, etc I was a bit worried about this one but we must have taken the right approach as we had little trouble getting to the area but my mate Roy got to it first. My GPS placed the cache about 15 metres north of the stated position.
Took nil and left a little dog
We enjoyed this previously unvisited harbourside area. I plan to take awalking group party along here soon. (Though not to the cache)

It was a warm Waitangi day, and having parked as sugested we were pretty hot by the time we got close.
Alex (13) had decrypted the clue and charged off when we got close. The GPS took me to a good looking grassy spot and we started to search, then Alex yelled from a few meters away Found It. He came charging out of the bush with a big grin and the bucket then suddenly shrank by half his height. he had steped into one of the hidden streams
Took Nougat
Left Pokemon Toy

Headed out purposefully but forgot to note the coordinates, so initial search area was close, but on wrong side of stream. Bush crashed back to car (Big mistake, shortcuts seldom are got coordinates and headed back. Due to the rain (downpour) GPS lock was poor, giving me a 10m radius, but after conducting systematic search, found after about 10m. Excellent hide.

This is the closest cache to my house so I thought it was about time to go find it. Went alone so I had no navigator. Parked at the end of Gilletta place and had a wee walk along a path to get to the general area of the cache. Then I think I approached it from the worst possible direction. Beware of ditches covered in leaves, mud, biting things, cutty grass, brambles with thorns and falling over the cliff! Found the cache though and it is in good condition. Took the US dollar coin and left some silly putty and a plastic dart I found in the bush near the cache. Was going to the supermarket down the road after this one but I was too scratched up, dirty and suffering from hayfever badly. Very rewarding cache to find though.
I'll be honest. I had to use the clue... and then when i did. i only found it because my dog stood on it and heard the difference in noise.
Didn't really find much of a track either, unless you mean the path along the edge of the cliff i walked on the way out?
Pick your entry point wisely... it could make the difference between a find and not.
Added 4 pack AA Duracells, took Builders Pencil

It was dark by the time I got out to this cache, got very muddy zeroing in the co-ordinates of this cache. Despite searching for some time, I was unsuccesful. I zeroed in the GPS numerous times, but couldn't make sense of the clues either. Another day with daylight will hopefully sort this one. Had a bit of fun following the track on the way out in the dark, had to use the GPS.

Stopped for lunch at the beach before going for a walk. Track along top very wet and muddy. Used the GPS, after a bit of bush work found the cache where the GPS said..
Sat on cliff top and watched a ship come up the harbour, where is the track [?]
Will leave some builders pencils and take the battery.

A bit tricky, this one! Ended up doing a bit of a grid search to find the clue. Took the Fat Baby bug for another leg of it's journey. Ate the mini moro bar (thanks GandT!) and put in a 4 pack of Duracell AA's.

This was our second attempt at finding this cache. Found a pile of roofing iron and tree rings by the side of the track. Looked like a reasonable sized cavern inside but failed to find the cache. Maybe it has been plundered?
My second attempt to find this cache. In my first attempt a few weeks ago I mistyped a coordinate digit. The error wasn't big, but I spent the afternoon searching in the swampy area instead. In the end I gave up and went home in disgust.
With the coordinate corrected I set out again. This time I at least knew the terrain - the swamp, the gorse and the thick scrub. With some care you can avoid all these.
The cache is easy to find once you get to the right spot. However, if you're more than a few metres off course you won't find it.

[This was my third cache of the day and I was very footsore after its completeion. The best way in that I found doesn't lead through heavy brush. Of course, I found it on the way out. I suggest coming in from the north side, rather than directly from the east. I stepped in a hidden stream coming in from that way. Took the smiley face ball, left a US $1 Sacagawea coin. There's a bus that goes from downtown to Lynfield and you can get off on Halsey drive for a short walk in a residential neighborhood. I believe it was bus 267.

Went out this afternoon wearing good shoes and a pair of shorts to find this one. Found it eventually, and replaced some of the nougat candy with some glue sticks for a hot glue gun.
Note to future visitors: You do not need to climb any fences, and be wary of a bees nest on a corner of the fence where there's a lookout on the path - I nearly got stung twice.
You might also benefit from wearing a good pair of shoes and some trousers on this one. While out seeking this cache wearing shorts, I encountered gorse, cutting grass, and that grass that sticks heaps of little seeds to your leg hairs, and spent most of my drive home scratching my legs.
If you're lazy, there is an alternative place to park that will put you a lot closer, but I won't say any more

You might also benefit from wearing a good pair of shoes and some trousers on this one. While out seeking this cache wearing shorts, I encountered gorse, cutting grass, and that grass that sticks heaps of little seeds to your leg hairs, and spent most of my drive home scratching my legs.
