A quick find here on our walk to the ‘Centre’.
First time for both Jo and I up here. TFTC SoBad.
Another warm day so Jo and I planned a trip across the hill, just for a bit of therapy and a change of scene really. Jo hasn’t had a lot of time off over the holiday period.
So we set some goals.
Lunch at Devilles, a swim at Rabbit Island, and a pint at the free house before heading home. Some of those are usual haunts, others not, but the weather dictates these things. Those were all achieved and a few caches along the way. Cachewise the goals were walking to the centre of NZ; then Best, Rough and Rabbit Island. A few others in the vicinity. Anything park and grab or within short walking distance. Didn’t pack the bikes, they will be coming another day.
Thanks to the Nelson COs. We haven’t been here much in 2018. Will aim to get over more in 2019. Had fun and all caches in good shape.

Nice morning for a walk along the Sir SW walkway.
I’d seen this cache had been disabled as the COs are unable to check.
Pleased to confirm all is well with the cache.
Will message COs to reenable.

We have been alerted by the review team to check this cache or disable it. We are away for a while so cant check it but it has had a series of DNFs in the past so we are wary of disabling it. We will watch and hope the next log is a find.
Nice straightforward find as reward for walking up the hill. Left a token, thanks for the cache, all in good order
Towards the end of our walk and definitely over thought this one, abut SJT_NZ went back to simple thinking and we had cache in hand. TFTC
Found with TregearP. This was a classic case of "Don't over think it!". We arrived at the GZ and had the GPSr putting us within a few metres so started searching.
After 15 odd minutes searching to no avail, and quite a few muggles (wow - a busy track!) I picked up my GPSr which I'd put on the seat by my pack, and followed it to 0m, put my hand in the obvious spot and found the cache.
Back to basics! All in good order, and thanks for the cache.

Parked at Whitehead Place and headed up the hill after a fruitless look for one among the many (I guess my DNF log would be that then). After zigging and zagging we soon had some height and after passing through the gate I got mrs and daughter to head on without me whilst I searched - soon had the cache in hand and replaced as found. This weekend is the weekend that Father's Day falls on so it's all about me, sort of. With mrs capperz working on Sunday we decided that a trip 'over the hill' (for a change!) would be the plan with lunch out, a walk to the 'Centre of NZ' and a few caches to round out the treat. So setting off at 0930 and with a few target caches to try and get whilst over this way we had a pleasant day here and met all/most targets. Luch at McCashins, a few k-n caches, the new Virtual cache and some awesome views - thanks Nelson.

We have never explored up around this area before, so today I thought I would have a wee look around. GK had been working nearby last year and we found one end of the track. It was a bit of a steep start going the way I did, and I found another more gradual track that I will use next time. The cache was in the second place I looked so that is always a good thing. I was surprised at how many people use this track. Thanks SoBad for the cache.

Or maybe someone just walked the exact route I took and ninjad all the caches? Beats me if I know.

Cripes! Was is *really* two and a half years ago I first attempted to find this cache? There have been plenty of individual and group reattempts since - each time focussing on the same few locations - and surprise, surprise, they yielded nothing.
I certainly did my level best to turn a D1.5 into a D4. However, in a flash of the bleedin' obvious, I though to look in a slightly different direction and much to my relief I was finally able to turn this DNF into a Found It.
Such is the way of these things.
Now there's another nemesis cache nearby that I will take another look for now...
Thanks for all the fun with this one.

Easy find, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go. (Let him go!)
We will fence you in!
Just going on with my walk from Centre of NZ down to Founders park.
Thanks for the cache!

Escaping the shakey side of the hill today while Mrs GH visits the market at founders Park, time for a quick walk with the geo Huskies. Cache wasn't quite where I thought it would be but was found after a bit of a search. 20 November 2016 12:24 GH6710 T F T C SoBad
Went on a big adventure with Wafflekitties and geo pups, had a blast thanks for the memories! TFTC.
Found while on a winter holiday with LCBuilder and our two geodogs. We spent 3 weeks travelling down the east coast and then up the west coast, setting our tent up at a different campsite each night. We didn't have any real plan, just went where the caches took us we saw a lot of awesome sights and will definitely have to come back one day as 3 weeks isn't really that long!
Finally made it to Sunny Nelson, definitely one of my favourite places.

Filling in the afternoon with the Centre of NZ cache - and may as well do the rest up here while I'm... up here. An easy find once I was looking in the right place. Isn't that always the way? Nice sunny day for a stroll along the tops - I can see what the artists of yore liked to come up here to record Nelson's history!
Quite a few DNF's up here today so glad to finally find one. Yoy Nelson lot are tricky.
Thank goodness....was my only find from my caching bike ride....thought I was losing my touch
Was up here, after another cache and saw the sign for the centre of NZ, so decided to walk up and grab some caches on the way. Easy find. Cool views up here. TFTC
Busy morning on the track despite the showery weather and bleak forecast. Quick find. Thanks to whoever left the whistles. Traded one for a glass bead. Thought it could come in handy sometime when caching alone. Thanks for the play.
Just arrived in Nelson after driving over the hill from Blenheim. Thought I would get a couple at the Founders Park area but it was muggle central today - some Queen's Birthday book fair. I noticed a track nearby and searched for caches in the area and off I walked....
This one took me a wee while to locate...but wasn't going to give in.

Did the same mistake as previous finders, wasted time close to the gate. Tftc
We wasted some time searching closer to the gate. [Took some time until we found the cache. TFTC]
Still not quite used to New Zeeland time I got up early and went for a combined jogging/cachingtour. Eight kilometers later I had found six out of eight caches.
To be honest it wasn't much jogging on my way up the trail but my pulse was high anyway.
The weather was clear but windy so I really had to hang on to the logOs.
This was the mornings fastest find so I could keep the pulse up for a little longer. Tftc

Funny....I searched here before and no show. Tonight found. Usual windy night on the bluff. TFTC .
Missed the cache on my first search of GZ but somehow it magically appeared to be there on my second look!

Found while participating in a 6-hour rogaine organised by the Nelson Orienteering Club. One of the control's was near here, so I had to find this as I passed. Left TB. TFTC and the great views. My first time ever up here despite being brought up in the Nelson area.

Once again a succesful find and a cache not often logged. Thank you So-bad and we now have a set of genuine So-bad teeth. : ) TFTC
This was a mere 175m from "the one among many" but we walked a lot further than that by the time we zigged and zagged up the hill. Very happy to see lots of seats available by the path for a sit down and breather.
I thought I'd found the cache - but it was a bona fide padlock . Didn't take StreetWalker long to track it down, and we had a sit down on the convenient seat to do the paperwork. TFTC.

#7957. After a couple of recent DNFs, we psych'ed ourselves up for a tricky hide, but it proved to be straightforward. TFTC.
We had two flagging junior cachers by the time we reached this GZ. We looked in the most likely places, but the promise of drinks and a pizza at the Sprig and Fern was too much of a temptation, so we left with a vow to search again soon.
I'm just passing through Nelson for a day and a half; what better way to spend it. I searched and searched and searched until there were no more places to look. Not having too much luck today at all.
Quick stroll up the hill, third shot at finding this one and this finally an opportunity without disruption. James spotted it and we were away. TFTC
Almost one year ago since we last looked for this one. Not sure how we missed it the first time! TFTC
It's ages since I've been on this track so there were a few new caches to pick up. This one reminded me of a recalcitrant sheep refusing to be contained. TFTC .

Found during a nice walk in Nelson. Nice forest and park. Great track in the hills. And perfect view on the bay and whole Nelson.

Found the wrong item at first but after searching a bit further about we found it. Thanks heaps for the cache. A very enjoyable way to spend our lunch time. Thanks
Looked all around the obvious area but just couldn't get it. Found a padlock wedged down low and spent some time trying to extract until deciding I was on the wrong track. Another look in an area I thought I'd already looked in and there it was. TFTC
Easy find on a rainy old day. Getting a bit cold and starting to think of beer and hot chips.
I fenced myself in trying to find the cache! Not the best idea, B bet me to it.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Went to the Book Fair so why not do a cache while we are here? Brisk walk up the hill, soon had cache in hand. Thanks.
The aim of the afternoon was to mop up a few caches that had been left for a rainy day. Well it looked like it was going to rain!

Nice quick find on an enjoyable morning's walk, with great weather & fine views. TFTC.
Spent some time looking, but without success. Had hoped to get up here again this trip, but will have to wait until next year
Found with ally010888. Took a while but thought i would look in one last place and there it was!
Found after a long hunt. Just about 2 leave it and my sister suzie010888 found it cheers
with integersmik. Very nice walk, enjoyed the exercise and views. Not too hot at this time of the evening and no muggles! TFTC
We thought an early evening stroll was in order so a slow trudge up the hill seemed fairly similar, enjoyed coming back up here again after a few years since. More success at GZ than with the cache we started with, despite attempting it on the way up and the way down! TFTC, good fun
Another one found while out for a run. Stickman nz did it the hard way on the bike, TFTC.
Spent a lot longer than should have for this level of difficulty. Finally was just about to walk away and mark down a DNF and thought I'd have one last look in the first place I'd looked, how did I miss it first time. Left geocoin
Love this walk way and for many reasons, usually total disorganisation ie; flat GPSr batteries, leaving the GPSr in the car and even getting so carried away talking while walking, we've missed this cache over the past 12 months. So it's great to finally tick it off. TFTC
After giving into the weather the last couple of days we just had to get some fresh air today so a walk along here from the Botanics was in order, esp with a few caches to be found. This was the 4th one we found before heading down hill towards Founders where we were lucky enough to meet this CO at another cache site. Despite a strong wind at home it was sheltered and warm along here. TFTC.
