Was in the area today doing a new trad....and thought I'd check out this tree....
If it is too high to get to, I'd return with a more intrepid Cacher...
However...I saw the small white container just sitting on the slanted trunk...not attached to anything at all.!
I have green cable ties in my car...but not sure where to attach it to....so it's in a tree hole for now.
Will send photos to CO when home...
Cheers.

Had plans to meet up with some cachers in Maraetai in the afternoon, so I headed out this way beforehand to find some caches. Once I finally realised where the GPS was pointing I headed off. The ground was quite wet but not too bad. I hadn't realise what was required to find this cache until I was on the path, but thought since I was there I'd at least attempt it. Had just managed to get into a good spot to start looking at how to approach the search when I spotted the cache. It was within arm's reach and looked like it had fallen down and was resting on a few branches, and not anywhere where I had expected it to be. Not sure if this was the actual cache location, but returned it to where I found it.
A quick and easy find for us, hardest part was extracting the log book
Its MrsNZT's birthday today and as a birthday wish we headed out to do some caching this morning. After a cooked breakfast we headed to music point to tidy up some unfound caches on our map.
We had looked a this cache a couple of years ago but at the time it was wasp season and decided against it. Today it was a lot cooler and no problems with wasps today. MrNZT did the rummage through the undergrowth and made a quick find here. Then we just had to go and check out the flying fox. Some cachers never grow up!! TFTC!

Walked by with my favourite Cachers Piratenschatzsucher! and GreenKiwiKids. Difficult signing while being attacked by a fan tail.
First cache for today. Pyphant spotted it. Smartphone was spot on. Insect repellent helped a lot. TFTC.
That was a hard one. I looked at the totally wrong place. Luckily Pyphant spotted it. TFTC.
Not much rain for many days now so the stream was very low and presented no problem. Interesting that the cache was quite exposed but also not instantly visible. All in good order, thanks switchy.
This easy enough once I convinced my boys to be explorers. The eel was not forth coming with the location
Not too far from home and on my list for some time, finally visited today. Followed some geotrails into the undergrowth, checked out a few big ones and soon spotted it. Not too much scrambling to be done, all dry and signed. Nice park, this track probably a bit less known, thanks for bringing me along here. TFTC
Jag50 and I were making the most of the stunning weather to find some more East Auckland caches. We initially went a little in circles investigating a few wrong places then Mrs Jag ventured off a little further and soon we heard 'found it'. She did the honours of scrambling higher to sign the log.
We were out today with Merlot58 and enjoying what was going to prove to be a just stunning weekend. Clear sky, hot and no wind. Got to GZ and it took us some time to try and decide which one. But none of them appeared to be the right one. Mrs Jag50 looked just a bit farther afield and soon had the cache spied
Novice hunters so likely our own fault but didn't find it. We did find an eel in the stream which was really cool! TFTC.
2nd attempt and still no joy. This has got us stumped! Any more info would be gratefully received
After playing on the nearby flying fox we made our way to gz. Kiwiscot quickly found the correct tree and scooted up to make the quick find. TFTC. Now back to have another go on the flying fox
I think I might have to find a less strenuous hobby. Wouldn't you believe it when I reached the cache, the bloody pen would not work and in a hissy fit I threw it into the creek and took a photo of the find.

Today our family went with some friends and did the Maclean's Park walk with the genuine canine Sherlock the Puppy and his canine girlfriend Sky. When we arrived I was asked by some of the kids if we could go 'treasure hunting'. And so off we went. However, after about five minutes, two of the three kids wanted to hang with the dogs, but one whom we affectionately call 'Little Red' was keen to stick it out. So this was the second one that we came to after having done the one by neatad on the mountain bike track. After we arrived at GZ, and asking myself where I would hide the cache if it was me, we soon had the cache in hand. Thank you switchy for the challenge of this cache... very cool. I have also included some photos of today's adventure as well. I will be giving this one a favourite point as well. TFTC!
Back up and running. Never knew this could be reached from the ground if approached from a different direction. That has now been rectified. Enjoy the climb.
Cheers Switchy

Was expecting this to be in the middle of thick bush so entered from the wrong place. After several minutes of bush bashing I came out to find the right path. Camo on container has peeled off and is hanging down so gave away the position - may need a little maintenance work. TFTC.
Felt like Atreyu going through the swamp in The Neverending Story. Bit trickly to retrieve but loved the challenge TFTC
Today was a fairly large drive around the greater Auckland area. Usual 7am start from Rotorua to collect caches we have solved and caches we need to fill in gaps of other challenges and things in between then return back to Rotorua with Squirrel Nutcase.
2.25pm - What a bonus needing a higher D rated caches for our challenge and this one filled one of those spots. Didn't take too much effort and we had it. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... These days, we are finding it increasingly necessary to head to Auckland to locate specific caches that complete the various challenges and personal goals we are working on. It takes 3+ hours to travel, then many more hours of driving between caches... and all for a smiley and another number towards the tally... Our mission today was to find high difficulty caches, old caches, and solved puzzles...
It's not often that you come across a high difficulty traditional within a suburban setting. Usually, there is some kind of climb involved... We had to manage the smell of stinky water to get to this one, but it turned out to be not as dramatic as we anticipated. This find will happily go toward our current license challenge. TFTC.

Not even above shoulder height from where I made the grab. The camo tape is beginning to peel off, so the CO make want to take a look. TFTC.
We approached this one with trepidation, it sounded a little evil but we were pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't all that bad. We searched a couple of locations before Mr beconaze spotted it and bring quite tall he also managed to retrieve it without too much effort
Came by this way after the other nearby cache nearby, nearby a bike jump. So since this cache was nearby that one I decided a visit here would be in order (since it was nearby). I climbed one tree and it started to disintegrate while I climbed it, so I thought to myself, this doesn't seem right, must be another tree nearby! So I wondered to myself as I do, gotta be that tree over there and while I was pondering and looking and wondering, I saw the cache - like manna from heaven! So now I have seen the tree nearby I goes to it and climbs it! I make very sure I don't drop the lid, LB or my pen. I carefully sign my name and I'm on my way to another cache nearby. Thanks switchy for the adventurous cache. If I wasn't so vertically challenged then I might not have to climb the tree!
Definitely a hard one for me !
I choose the worst possible day with heavy rain. All trees in the area were surrounded by water, the bushes were dripping and the trees were very slippery.
On top of that, I didn't choose the easiest way to reach GZ and had to go through 50+ m of bushes before reaching my target.
Last but not least, with so much cloud above, the gps gave me really approximative coordinates...
It took me 45min to reach the spot, climb some trees, look everywhere and in the end find the small box !!
Yes, a nice find !
Now I'm completely wet and need to go back home !

Quite a tricky find. Had some help from a fellow cacher passing by lovely walk on a beautiful day. TFTC
I had a good look for this one then realized that it had a 4 star ratingwhich kind of put it out of reach for me so to speak.
Climbed lots of trees and looked high and low but no luck for us today. It's a shame that the biggest geokid wasn't with us today. He is the expert at climbing trees (and a lot lighter!). We will be back!
Mr HeMaLuDy and Mrs Stik-a-crane found this one. Not many views from GZ. Thankfully all was dry today. TFTC.
Kind of a 'chance spotting' from the ground made this an easy find.... took the 'hard way up' the tree but an easy way down ...been sunny weather for many days so water not an issue ....
Found with rustynz after the Christmas meetup, had a muggle with us, glad she did not have youtube capacity to record thisretrieval. Tftc
A joint effort for this find and retrieval! thankfully no filmed evidence of the retrieval of this cache. Lets say urbangypsynz gave me a bit of a boast, as these legs are a little on the short side Although a challenge, this time no injuries or damage to clothing. Hi fives and big smiles as we walked to the next hide. Thanks for the adventure!
Sent the husband up the tree for this one glad I did as he ended up with a small injury retrieving the cache TFTC
Spotted this one reasonably quickly once at GZ, then thought if only I was slightly taller.....so after limbering up those disused tree climbing muscles I had when I was a kid and doing a big swing on a branch I hoped would hold my weight off I went...success! Getting down wasnt any easier either!

Found the entry point for GZ and then went exploring.
After couple of minutes of searching saw the cache and then pondered how to retrieve it.
Another successful climbing attempt!

Tricky retrieval! Very cleverly placed cache, a bit of a stretch, definitely harder grabbing this one than spotting it. Luckily we managed to escape with our pants intact this time. Thanks for the cache!
Found GZ but for the second time today the area was covered with wasps. Will leave this one for after a cold snap to kill these guys off. Shame as it looked like fun to climb!
Out with the good Dragon for an overnight stay in Auckland and had spotted this one a little while ago and today was the day.
Managed to get in and out, past the cricketers looking for their ball amongst the flax and managed to locate much quicker than what I had expected.
Cache in great condition

Left this one to the boys. First tree climbing cache. Fairly quick find. TFTC!
Found it quicker than expected looking at the difficulty level. Made a wrong climb at first before the right one. TFTC
An easy find after reading previous logs, but retrieval was a whole different matter. Opening the container, extracting the log and signing it presented it's own challenges. The final challenge was getting away from GZ with some semblance of dignity!!

Found with a lil difficulty once spotted sharmander made the climb hardest part was getting it open due to the kid lock tftc
Was about to give up when I saw something not quite natural, and sure enough it was the cache! Turned out to be the start of a few challenges, not the least of which was navigating the child-proof lid
Rather rewarding find to have succeeded in the end! (esp with 2 prior dnfs to start our day!)

Out and about today exploring McLeans Park picking up all the caches along the way. As we approached GZ we read out the hint and soon spotted a likely candidate. Up I went while miss held the car keys etc just incase . Nope, not up there after having a good look and feel around.
Spotted somewhat of a geotrail on the other side of the bridge so made my way over there for a look. Climbed up through the vegetation, very carefully and spotted the cache tucked away under all the growth. A quick sign of the log once i managed to get the log out of the cache. Log could do with a change as its very full and only just managed to get our signature on there.
Enjoyed this cache, thanks for the cool placement!

I had some time between and after work commitments today so managed to fit in a drive around in this area to find a few caches. A very cool caching adventure with this hide being just that bit different from the run of the mill. Lucky for me I had fairly rough clothes on. Once I got into the right position the cache was quickly spotted. Then I got into a position where I could grab it and sign the log. Container had quite a bit of water in it which I tipped out. Managed to make a mark on the wet but waterproof log. TFTC, Biggles.
When we arrived at GZ there were quite a few tree limbs that had recently come off so we initially thought the cache would be lost in the undergrowth, but a search turned up nothing. Dad fought his way through the carnage and found the cache - still safely attached and up where it belonged.
A very nice cache. After I found the way it was quite easy to climb up and find the box.
Thank you

Out for a morning stroll with Samora534. Interesting cache placement had me praying that I would lose either my balance or drop anything. Was very glad I took a handy tool with me to extract the cache. Thanks switchy for the cache.
Thanks switchy for the cache,
Great chance for some school holiday caching with the kids.

Fun! My first climbing one which KiwiPeat spotted first before I made the climb. No moat yet thankfully! Had to be quick so school kids coming out wouldn't wonder what we were up to! TFTC
Brought the geocaching pooch along today so have to tackle caches in dog friendly areas. Dog looked a bit confused when I reached GZ to retrieve the cache.
Many thanks
Many thanks
Dad and boys attempted this one - the boys simulatenausly found it while Dad was still trying to decide which location to try first!
Dad retrived the cache with only a few minor scratches.
All the boys really enjoyed this one - a fav point from us!

Tried to do this one on Saturday night but the light was getting low and the batteries ran out on the GPS so came back Sunday morning to do all the ones in the park. Surprisingly easy with the biggest challange getting the child proof lid off the pill bottle.tftc
Good thing I brought my climbing jandles along! Barking up the wrong tree at first but then spotted the real one. TFTC.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
We spent a nice afternoon out East Auckland, picking up a few caches as we drove around. Spotted the cache from the ground, so Mr PV went up the tree to grab the cache, while Miss PV waited on the ground. A couple of dog walking muggles soon came through and asked if Miss PV was OK, she came up with some unlikely story about admiring the unusual grass nearby - the muggles left, probably thinking they had encountered a nutter, but they didn't spot the other nutter in the tree!
Had a bit of difficulty opening the child-proof pill bottle with one hand, while using the other hand to stop from falling off! Then had a bit more difficulty getting the log sheet out, again with one hand! Got there in the end, and signed the log. Decided the easy way down was to simply jump off.
Thanks for a fun cache - a favourite for us!

T2 to get to GZ, the other T2 to get the log out Thanks for bringing me to this location. This is what geocaching is all about.
Thank you for placing this cache.
Thank you for placing this cache.
Gps was playing up today, so had the poor juniors climbing the wrong tree for a while
This one was fun. Mrs GreenblaT drew the short straw. fabb5 footprints still fresh in the mud. T4TC
Great fun here, two middle aged sisters deciding who should go up the tree and I drew the short straw. Pagenz made encouraging comments and was there waiting to catch me should I fall. No problems at all and glad we did it. Thanks for fun and the cache
We almost gave up on this one until we saw what needed to be done and sister dear got to retrieve the cache... age does have its privileges sometimes. t4tc
Luckily it has been dry for a week, so it was not to difficult, lots or twiggy branches going for me so i was glad i was not in shorts.
