Only 15 finds in 7 years of being in place, now that is quite remarkable! Looks like it was also unloved for 3 years at one stage, amazing! Hasn't been found for over a year again, so decided I would come out since it has now unfortunately archived so it doesn't rot away out here and get forgotten about!

I came at this cache from the complete opposite direction the parking coords are listed at. I went from cache #3 in this series, straight to this one. Not without some effort though! Firstly, getting across the river and heading east from #3 was a challenge. I was basically surrounded by cliffs without many places to cross.

However I slowly made my way east a little further, and after scoping out the cliff I noticed there was only **ONE** way down it! I took my time and slowly went down the steep rocks before I eventually got level with the water again, and was at a position I could cross without getting wet - perfect!

Next was the steep climb up the opposite side of the bank so I could take the formed path to GZ. It was a little slow going through some shrub and the elevation was taxing but I soon found myself on the path that led straight to this cache!

Strolled all the way along until I was 30m from GZ which was then when I head to head straight up again. Took it slowly through the shrubs and eventually reached a good looking GZ to find the cache still safely tucked away Big Grin Wooohooo, mission complete!

**I retrieved the cache** from it's position given it is archived and in a pretty remote spot. It barely even got many finds in the 7 years it was active, so will contact the CO and see what happens with it.

Thanks rbirtles once again! Now to follow the path all the way back to the car, much easier than some of the stuff I have done today!

A good ride along a pretty flat track and a decent hike along to GZ. Plenty of cloud today and a bit of a head wind on the way in. A quick find in the end, spent a bit time watching some sheep below negotiate the rocks in a decent attempt to cross the river. They made it all safely across in the end. TNLNEL TFTC

Probably not the normal thing to do, to park somewhere to walk a couple km to a cache, just as the Sun is setting - lol - but I just made it there and found it, and got back to the track before it got too dark Smile
(Yes, I did have a torch with me, just in case ... only used it in a couple really steep rocky bits of track as I enjoyed a nice walk back along the fence line in the dark Smile
TFTC - a nice walk from where I parked near the poo farm, along up hill and down dale to the cache, and back in the dark ... pity I didn't get organised about an hour earlier so I had time to have a bit more of a look around out here in this nice area.

Cache 2464 on 17/4/17

If I ever decide to head out on a 16 bike ride and a 1.4km walk up hill and down dale, remind me not to ever do that again!!

Bobl27 and I decided to grab this cache as one of the last few unfound caches in my 5km radius on a lovely autumn day. We naively thought how hard can it be - and to be fair, the inwards ride was not too bad, albeit a bit tiring. We hit the private property gate around 700m from GZ, so I dumped my bike behind a tree and headed on foot - Bobl27 took his super light bike for a 650m walk! We followed wombat trails most of the way there, up and down hill, through a creek, and around the side of hills. The last 50 or so meters were the toughest, with considerable rock climbing involved to get to the GZ - but get there we did! Cache was found safe and sound, and numbers collected for the final puzzle for a future date.

Then a slow walk back - actually we walked much further back towards the wrong pipe! Bobl27 rode his bike back to the locked gate and collected my bike - what a hero! Then a slow ride back to the car. For fitter folk, it would not have been so tough, but we struggled on the way back - for future folk, carry at least 1 litre of water per person, or more.

Thanks for the challenge, and the exercise! Love those 12 months of unlove too!

Found with AngelG27 on a longer than expected bike ride and walk. While it was tough going at the time, I am pleased to have done this cache - by far the longest ride/walk I have done for a single cache so far. The area around GZ was pretty tricky, certainly not suitable for kids or those not sure footed. Thanks rbirtles for the challenge!

Found with the missus to-day. We approached from the south east, via Kama Nature Reserve and it was a 17.6 kilometre walk all told. We did a few other caches including a puzzle 'Soldier On' which was a long tough detour all for a DNF. Lovely views of the Molonglo River as well as from the GZ. TFTC.

3892. Found with Tanso during a trip out in this part of the world. A very interesting journey from No.3 and we eventually arrived at another spectacular location. More time was taken admiring the views from GZ than searching for a container that was in extremely good health.
Now for the slog back to the car. Sad

After doing the other to we came over to look at this one, it's a lot hotter walking over this side away from the water. Once we got there and the job was done we had to go and cool off by the water. What a peaceful place, but I didn't get pic as I'll be back.
Thanks rbirtles

Having completed the series previously, Winglen, McPhan and I had to come out and find this replacement. Off on the bikes and the k's went by and we were soon approaching GZ.

Bikes were dropped and it was off on foot for the final assult. And what a great spot. Gret views up and down the river.

After taking all that in it was back to bikes, repair a flat tyre, and then the ride back to the cars.

Thanks rbirtles for the chance to head out here again. I'm jsut glad it was number 2 that was replaced, and not, say 3 or 4. That may have been a different story.

5266. [font=Century Gothic][green]I'm trying to train up to tackle the Canberra Two Day Walk so decided to ride to the start of this one to meet SDL and Winglen. Not too bad but for a greenhorn (there is no gap in that word!) rider the bit up to the gate was pretty tough. Thankfully I got to rest up before the troops arrived and then we were away. Great to be riding along here, and this is probably the best bit in terms of ease of the challenge.

Looking down to the river on the way showed some top views but nothing like at GZ where the drop off on 3 sides is spectacular. (Trying to remember the TV show that had a rotating helicopter shot of the main character on a site similar to this but it won't come) Then back to the bikes and the ride home - with a tail wind for much of the trip. BTW we measured close enough to 8km from the gate so a 16km return ride on top of the 8km I did to the gate - I'm going to e sore...

Top afternoon with SDL and Mr Winglen - thanks gents.

Pleasant memories of successfully completing this series on foot in one day - well at least the first two thirds was pleasant and the last third an increasing slog.

Today it was Sol de Lune and McPhan on bikes and this was supposed to be a quick ride and home. But flat tire troubles (several) slowed things down, but did not detract from the magnificent cache location. It would take a flood of biblical proportions to take this one away.

Noticed from this high viewpoint that at each corner of the river there is a significant buildup of flood-torn trees deposited in parallel piles, almost like a Canadian lumber operation.

Great spot rbirtles. TFTC.

Had been meaning to do this cache for a while now. Today was out doing some other caches and decided ok lets go for it. Uuummm bad mistake.
Walked along the service road which seemed to take for ages. Due to the hot weather I drunk alot of water and really suffered. Finally got to gz and made a quick find.
I then had to get back, I was exhausted. I decided to cut back through Karma which saved me 2kms on the returned trip TFTC rbirtles

Our 3rd stop in the River run attempt and what a nice spot. @3:45 The River is far too high after the rain in the last few days so there is no way of crossing as we had hoped for in order to get to cache 3 and 4. Only possibility to push on and take the bridge on the other side of the water treatment plant and then if there is time to come back for 3 and 4.

To make a long story short we failed. We ran out of time, water and muscle strength pushing our bikes along the hills to the water plant and at the end we got stuck with no bridge to cross.
We got some extra water from a nice worker at the plant and after we had some picnic we headed for the bridge that is on all the maps around and has a TankEngine banter on. Down the Hill we come just to find there is no bridge. Either it is submerged or swept away either way we were stuck - our car was waiting on the other side of this river at the Uriarra crossing and there was no way we could safely make it over the Molonglo river, neither with or without the bikes we were pushing. So back up the hill. The rain had started and it was getting dark, neither parked car on either end of the track at all in reach. Luckily there was reception at the water plant so that we could call a taxi(and it was lucky that we managed to get one to come out there)
- dredged and dehydrated, waiting in the dark with the taxi as our savior.

This was quite an adventure, not recommended for trying though. Not with bikes, not that late, not with too little water and most importantly not after rain.

Thanks for the cache and the series RBirtles, will try to finish it at some stage that would be nice. A Favorite for the adventurous memories this cache and its series brought. Took a PT as a memory at the events.

My GPS has an old 4WD track all the way to the cache, well, so there is and I rode it to within 20m of the cache. That last 20m was just a tad impossible. Coooeeee, great fun flying down that last bit.
Then on up to the cache, what a great spot, river on both sides. Signed log, then pushed bike back up a fair bit of that last bit, then rode all the way back to Coppins Crossing. Thanks rbirtles for another EXCELLENT spot.

I took a different approach on this cache and walked across from the poo works. A very pleasant cross country wander. GZ was very enjoyable, and I'm sure the cache won't get flooded this time. TFTC rbirtles. Seems I managed to pick up an elusive FTF.

Well, I was at Floriade when a swag of caches was published! Grrr - only just got here - family doesn’t want to leave yet! So, about an hour later, we finally went home, and I could checkout the new caches... Hmmm - a couple of bike ones in there!

Well, after a 10km warmup further upstream, I decided to go for a longer 20km ride! Once within spitting distance of GZ, I saw someone else near there! - Arrived at GZ, and they were gone! Looked over the rise, and there was Captain Tomato leaving! Funny - I hadn't met him along the way! - But after reading his log, I see, he came from the other direction! Sneeky! I recon I missed him by less than 5 minutes!

Anyways, a lovely spot, and I agree, this one will not be washed away when the river rises! Thanks rbirtles!
