Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Fourteen: Mostly outer South EastWeather: a perfect start to the day.One of three more Jack Speak caches found today after starting the series yesterday. Its hard going with heavy traffic on the road and few safe places to pull out. The position of the bonus cache seems to encourage you to do the caches west to east, but the actual positioning of the caches often seems to assume that youre heading the other way. Im not going to get this series finished on this trip, but thanks for this huge body of work -lisette- and pimpmyballoons.
This one had me questioning the following:Why am I in so much pain? What was that noise? What was that other noise? What kind of spider is that? Why is the Australian vocabulary on limited to a few swear words? Is that a kangaroo? Why am I doing this? Why the hell does Gorse hurt so bloody much?Holy mother of God why does Gorse actually hurt this much? How long before these Gorse nettles come out of my skin? Was those worth writing in a tiny piece of paper? (Yes)TFTC
Found once we managed to get close to it. There was lots of gorse in here, ouch. Nearly as bad as blackberry, especially if you grab it by mistake. Cache all good, thanks.
A nice quick find on our way to Balnarring to have lunch and a break from caching.
The F word might have been dropped a few times as I tried to find that particular structure.. I was wondering if my GPS was on the blink or just on strike, as it appeared stuck..swift find once I found the structure in question.
This whole week I have been looking for a decent coffee and still haven’t found it. When the work experience kid is making my brew I always get a bit nervous.
Funnily enough the rental car is full of empty coffee cups. When I find more than one of the same cup I must have enjoyed something. I judging coffee based on the litter in the car. tftc

Had most of these solved for a while, and the remaining few solved in the car this morning. A quick find today. Hoping to finish picking up the rest of the series.
Holidaying in Victoria had a look at caches that are near our accommodation and came across this series. Given my love of pirates I had to give it a go. Early morning start with the kids while everyone else slept in.
Initially entered in wrong spot, lots of prickly trees. Re-evaluated and found much more easily. TFTC

We were heading over to Phillip Island to ensure we were there for the start of the Great Victoria Cache Crawl. We caught the ferry from Queenscliff and had laid ourselves a cache trail to follow around to Phillip Island.
The weather was great for caching as the sun was out and the wind was merely a gentle breeze.
We have had the Jack Speak series solved for quite some time and today we had the time to find quite a few of them. We suspect they were designed to be found heading in the Southward direction, but we were able to find a safe park for all of them as we headed roughly Northward.
We found the cache safe and sound, Thank you -Lisette- for this cache and to pimpmyballoons for adopting and maintaining this series.

Find # 10873
Found with sharkiefan.
The task for today was to tackle the Jack Speak series and a few around the area.
Despite the morning drizzle we still managed to make the Jack Speak finds along the road. Even with a DNF we still managed to work out the final.
Then when the rain passed and the sun was out we done more exploring and finding quite a few "Welcome to..." cache at each town we passed coming back up.
Throwen in was a couple other puzzles we had solved.
A fun day had over on the Mornington Peninsula with a total of 45 smileys for the trip.

Jack Speak Day.
We had planned this trip a while ago and had the puzzles solved even longer ago.
Depsite the wet weather and gloomy looking day, we decided to head out and have a crack, prepared to give it up if it became too miserable.
Pleasantly we ended up with some beautiful if not windy weather and had a great time out this end of the state.

It's the 12th of the month and time to go caching... Why? Because I have (foolishly) taken on **400 Challenge....with a twist** which requires you to find 400 caches on your choice of a particular day of the month... and the 12th is my choice as that day had a big head start over all the others. My plan for the day was to finish the **Jack Speak** series and so here I was on the Mornington Peninsula.
After a successful start on this series this morning... and lunch out of the way, I was back at it. Apart from a mis-step at the previous cache, I was on a roll with find number seven in the series for the day... a nice easy find.
Thanks **pimpmyballoons** for keeping this cache and the whole **Jack Speak** series going.

We solved these puzzles some time ago and finally managed to find time to come down to this area to find the caches. Apologies for some generic logs. Most of these caches were found reasonably quickly. This was a slightly different location for the find. Thanks to -Lisette-/pimpmyballoons for the cache.
After Lockdown 5.0, much needed caching was needed and what better way to do it by going out with my caching buddy Jetsons23. We had solved the Jack Speak series a year ago and it has taken us this long to finally find the time to go out and collect them. With the kids at school, we set off for our adventure. The sun even came out for us.
A relatively straight forward find here after walking past some prickly bushes and tree branches.
The cache and log is in good condition.
Thank you for the cache and series Lisette and pimpmyballoons for adopting it to keep it going

Watch out for electric fence!!! Finally out of lockdown and busting for some caching, oshfam and I teamed up to collect this series. We had solved the puzzles a while back but not had the opportunity to get out to get them. Nice sunny day, still a bite of cold in the air we set off on our adventure. Thanks for the cache.
With a few minutes still to spare before the start of today's walk, I stopped here for a look. In the 10 years since this was placed, the foliage might have become somewhat overgrown but a read of the hint guided me home and that had me signing the log at 09:50.

After visiting a friend nearby I decided to grab some caches including the jack speak trail which I had solved long ago.
Climbing through all sorts of prickly and pokey bushes I got there in the end.

Why am I surprised? Accurate co-ords help! Not sure all this naval lingo will help me in the mountains, but this series was a confidence booster to puzzle solving capacity which is close to very average. Really enjoyed the research and the big ticks. Nice day out before the BIG winter LOW looms in on us. TFTC
Another Mornington Peninsula caching run today to pick up the first half of the Jack Speak series and then a few other odd caches here and there towards the end.
I'd solved the puzzles about a month ago, finally taking a closer look and realising they weren't as scary as they seemed, progressing through the series in spare time over about two days - nice and relaxing puzzles to solve that I enjoyed sitting and working out.
Overcast weather today with the occasional drizzle and lots of adventuring resulted in me becoming rather damp, streaked with mud and bitten by mozzies by our return home!
Thanks to -Lisette- for placing this series and maintaining it through the years.
It seemed as though this would be an easy find, but a fair search was still required to uncover the goods.
Plenty of spiderwebs suspended between bushes so the services of a rather sizeable stick were enlisted to clear the path.
Found the cache hanging in accordance with the hint but a bit to the side in relation to where I expected it to be.
Thanks for hiding this cache!

Finally took the path of least resistance and suddenly found it. At least the parking it was good. What better way to pass the time on Cup Day?
Out today tonight to do a few caches in the hope of finishing the museum event. Unfortunately the rain and a few dnf’s made this a lot harder than it should have been. Thankfully as time went on the traffic became lighter and hunting became easier. Thanks for the series.
Thanks -Lisette- for the cache.

Out with my geo son today doing our first geo trail together. We had finished interesting puzzles learning about all the navel terms a while ago and was just waiting for a full day to pick them up. Great day starting with the sun just rising and finishing off as it was setting, Discovering this area was an added bonus. Picked up this along the way. Needed to get into that greenery. Thanks for the series Lisette we really enjoyed our bison day.
Out Caching with XAMBO4U for a Mother Son adventure day. Time to knock out this series!
Heading to Portsea for a few days but detouring down the left side of the Peninsula so I can gather up the Jack Speak Series that I have wanted to do for so long. Also picked up a couple of "Welcome To" caches along the way. Two DNFs and a lot of caches without clues did not help me to get the final - which will have to wait for another visit, maybe!
DNF for this one today. Too tricky and sick of getting spiked by the pesky gorze bushes. Another time perhaps.

I made my way back down the peninsula via Hastings today to pick up some more of the Jack Speak series and a few other geocaches in the area. There was a good place to park - it certainly is a busy road - I had a bit of a search to find this one but it was there in from

It was leafotwind's idea to see if we could knock off the Jack Speak series (which he'd done the virtual hard yards on), and maybe turn the outing into a 50+ day. I provided the vehicle as he's, er, between cars at the moment, and despite the weather not quite cooperating, we achieved our goal, and some.
Only one DNF, which is pretty darn good considering my usual blindness to one particular kind of hide which happened to predominate this afternoon.
-Lisette-, thanks for a fun trail of caches.

I had solved the series some time ago and had always intended to try and combine it with a couple of the shorter series' put out by other cachers to achieve a tally of 50 for the day. I thought some company might be in order both to add to the fun as well as provide a separate set of eyes. Nirgalagrin answered the call and a good thing too! He dialled in a little earlier than I and a number of those bisons might have taken a lot longer without him!
We did end up hitting 50 for the day and amongst those found the only 5/1 trad in the whole of Victoria by happenstance!
Thanks to all the COs who placed these caches for everyone to enjoy and indeed in the case of the Jack Speak series have maintained them for all these years.

I was staying in Balnarring this time last year and discovered this series. Here again this year and am on a mission to try and finish it. A nice quick find here after stumbling through some spiders webs. Tftc
Crustyvarmint and I decided to attempt this series after completing the puzzles but after doing about 10 of them we thought it might be advisable to go back to the ones we had already completed to check for clues. Oh well a newbie mistake I know but I was having a bad day.
Saying that most of these caches were reasonably easy to find (some more difficult) but well set up puzzles, a joy to complete and informative. Great series. TFTC.

I went out today with Bunadoorian. We had each solved the puzzles to locate GZ, then shared the hunt. It was an enjoyable trip and we gathered the information for the final, but somehow it didn't work. More time required to complete the task. Thanks very much for the series Lisette. Please accept the generic response for our finds today.
After the hectic festive season, I needed a day to escape from my busy life and do this series with beckNmonts. I really enjoyed exploring this area. -Lisette- Thanks you so much for the fun series.
Pwala and I decided it was about time we found these caches. We had solved the puzzles about a month ago, but today was the day we were both finally free. I was skipper for the day and Pwala the main finder. We managed to only have one DNF for the series, and had a great afternoon! Thanks so much for placing this series -Lisette-
Down in the area to do some fireworks for new years and this is the first one of the few we will find today.
Full log, just able to add a tiny signature.
Well, nice change here, even if Mr Riddell got prickled with the gorse.

Time to catch up on some logs, after a long day at uni I thought to myself wow I need to go out and find a nearish cache in order to return and get some more work done at home. So with my torch ready and car fueled up I was off. Arriving at gz I soon found what i needed and the cache was in hand very quickly. Anyways thanks for the cache and for keeping the streak alive.
Staying in Cape Schank for a couple of days with sassieold55, and hoping we can put some smileys on this series again today TFTC
A bit of bush bashing required for this one but we found it in the end. A little different to the other hides from this series. Log full too.
Fantastic day for caching in the middle of winter and finding some mythical creatures. Out with Cheeky Wink for a great day of fun and this series certainly delivered. All puzzles solved earlier apart from the last one which we hope to complete today. Thanks Lisette for the effort put into this series. We enjoyed the route, the scenery and the hunting.

It was a bit of a hunt but coordinates spot on in the end and so the cache was found. The now familiar style of container was found and log signed.

After spending yesterday doing domestic chores around home, we sat and worked together to solve this series after dinner.
With +Wife doing the first part and me finishing each one off, it only took until 2am!
This afternoon we drove down here with our GeoMutts, EveTheStaffy and MaxTheCollie.
We picked up two letterboxes and a total of twenty in this series.
We also found a great fish and chip shop.
Thanks for the series -Lisette-
We will return to complete the course.

It was a lovely afternoon for a drive. The Geomutts are always impressed when their day includes sitting in the back seat, watching the world whiz by. Barking at other mutts and checking out the sights, sounds and smells in new areas.
Today had all of that, and more. Fish and chips in the park. Many finds and not a single dnf for us.
We started at "Letters to Dad", continued on through this series and finished our day at "Letters to Mum".
I drove all day and n0w0rries did most of the walking.

Back in the area this afternoon to remove the Blue Sad Faces on some of the Jack Speak series. First time I was here, it was just too hard to find in the dark with the GPS bouncing around, and the torches to hard to manage while moving the plants carefully to avoid the barbed wire. Today ignored the bouncing GPS and after a quick search the well hidden cache was found. Would have been even harder to open the cache and sign it in the dark using torches.
Thanks for the cache Lisette

It was pitch black in this area as the full moon went behind the clouds and the fog took over.
Think I was in the right area, but the plant growth seems to be taking over and holding the torch in one hand, didn't want to risk digging too deep into the plants that were growing over the barbed wire.
Perhaps another time in daylight.
Thanks anyway -Lisette-

Solved the puzzles for this series in the week and thought I better get out there and put the smiley faces on the map. Went off on a tangent initially trying to solve these but the co soon recalibrate my head. Hopefully these will put me in good stead to get me to my 4000 find this Easter break. Thanks for the fun, TFTC
Having found this one previously I headed back to check for a clue and found this one still in place!
I picked up a couple more from this series while in the general area. It must be approaching a year since I first found one. I seem to have successfully un-powered this power-trail. This one was found with little delay. Thanks -Lisette-!
Found on a tour of the area - so many caches, some many nice spots to stop and suck in the oxygen. Found this in the last place I looked which was not the first place I looked.... Goood to get this.

The long-planned birthday cache run finally arrived! Having discovered that Omegaman1971 and I were born only two days apart, we agreed to go caching to celebrate our almost-joint birthday. Omegaman invited a few geocaching friends along, and we soon had a couple of cars full. After birthday cake and presents in Hastings, we piled into cars and started out on the Jack Speak series. We had planned this trip months earlier, and had long since solved the puzzles. We picked up a few other caches along the way to add to our collection of smiley birthday faces In the end, I did find my 1000th cache; it was nice to do it with such a great group of geocaching friends!

Okay...we have finally got to the Jack Speak series with 6 cache teams. We all worked on the series prior to arrival and moved though them progressively, making quick finds in most cases, although there were a couple of tricky ones. Also learn a lot about naval expressions. In most cases, this will be a generic post. Thanks -Lisette-. Great work. Green can be a challenge.
Out with the Birthday Team (Morcs4, QueenK8, Promontory, Omegaman1971 and Happypants) to celebrate two birthdays. Thanks for the cache.
Found with omegaman, Promontory, Morcs4, (_o), QueenK8 this afternoon after a birthday bash in Hastings and we planned to tackle this series to celebrate the day, so far, so good with locating the caches. After picking up our new beast in Melbourne (Landcruiser) we headed over to Hastings in the company of DAB to conquer the "Jack Speak" series on this lovely sunny day. With perfect conditions for caching we started up one end and worked our way down to the last puzzle, collecting the clues as we went, enjoying the views from some of the vantage points. With the detailed hints making for quick finds most of the time. The new 4x4 didn't miss a beat , coping with the stop starting as we worked our way through the series making for a fun day. We unfortunately did not get all the clues for the final, but there will be another trip on another day where we can finalise this Naval slang series giving us an excuse to come back to this lovely area.

Another combined effort for a caching trip, today it was The_Tritonz and myself. Our plan was to grab the " Jack Speak " series of caches. It was very interesting learning all of these Jack Speak terms. Thankfully the puzzles weren't too hard either, they were all a pleasure to do. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, collecting the caches. There were plenty of laughs, mainly at Chris's expense. We were spoilt with the scenery and the gorgeous weather. Unfortunately we didn't find all of the clues and we missed out on the final. Apologies for the late log. I'm still clearing a backlog (no pun intended) of finds from over the holidays. I headed out on a warm New Years Eve morning to tackle a number of the Jack Speak series and a few other along the way.
This was find 26 of 27 for the day as I would go on to find one other on the way to a fireworks party later. A nice wide road here and a convenient place to pull in. Once at GZ I was able to spot this one. From here I swung north back towards base. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for this series and for the cache -Lisette-. 21 finds from 21 attempted on Jack Speak despite some tricky placements that threatened to foil me. I hope to come back to complete the series before too long.

Here for the Mega and out caching with Lgoody & roostaman.
So much variety in the caches and in the weather!
Ventured a little further from our base today and enjoyed the countryside immensely.
Thank you -Lisette- for placing and maintaining this cache.

[Blue]# 13607[/Blue] Found on another adventure with lgoody and The Green Geckos
along the Jack Speak and Red Hill Express trails, as well as a few others.
The weather was fine and we found some very good hides as well.
Thanks for the cache -Lisette-,
