Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Fourteen: Mostly outer South EastWeather: a perfect start to the day.One of three more Jack Speak caches found today after starting the series yesterday. Its hard going with heavy traffic on the road and few safe places to pull out. The position of the bonus cache seems to encourage you to do the caches west to east, but the actual positioning of the caches often seems to assume that youre heading the other way. Im not going to get this series finished on this trip, but thanks for this huge body of work -lisette- and pimpmyballoons.

14-Apr-24
I was thinking the cat referred to in this saying was one of those cuddly fur balls - shame on me! We found this on the ground. Managed to attach a hanging device to it and were happy with the repair. All good now, TFTC.

20-Jan-24
Last find before lunch break in Balnarring

14-Jan-24
Damn blackberry bush.We have collected all the caches in series in preparation to find Avast - the final cache.

24-Aug-23
Carrying much of the plant matter back into the car with me smelling like wattle slowly redeaming my other DNFs from this morning.

14-Aug-23
found it yesterday thanks for the cache

26-May-23
All morning the sun had been out and life was grand. The birds were chirping, the squirrels were nutting and the bunyips were yipping or bunning or whatever they do.

During lunch we had watched a rain shower roll in followed by the sun rolling in again. For that reason we knew that the conditions could not be trusted and we felt that rain was on its way again. tftc

TFTC! 15 January 2023 5:06:27 pm 4638
Had most of these solved for a while, and the remaining few solved in the car this morning. A quick find today. Hoping to finish picking up the rest of the series.

22-Nov-22
Found at a very busy road

Thanks for placing and maintaining the cache

10-Nov-22
Found e. Thanks for the series

01-Oct-22
Holidaying in Victoria had a look at caches that are near our accommodation and came across this series. Given my love of pirates I had to give it a go. Early morning start with the kids while everyone else slept in.
Easy find. TFTC

19-Aug-22
We were heading over to Phillip Island to ensure we were there for the start of the Great Victoria Cache Crawl. We caught the ferry from Queenscliff and had laid ourselves a cache trail to follow around to Phillip Island.

The weather was great for caching as the sun was out and the wind was merely a gentle breeze.

We have had the Jack Speak series solved for quite some time and today we had the time to find quite a few of them. We suspect they were designed to be found heading in the Southward direction, but we were able to find a safe park for all of them as we headed roughly Northward.

We found the cache safe and sound, Thank you -Lisette- for this cache and to pimpmyballoons for adopting and maintaining this series.

13-Jul-22
Found with Bogonghazy who has previously solved them. Cold day but always time to cache. Thanks for placing the geocache

09-Jul-22
Out with jaamc3335 to finish this series have all the clues now, so thinking caps on we are off hopefully to the next GZ thanks for the cache

09-Jul-22
Another quick find TFTC

04-Jul-22
Lucky spot as it stood out against the background.

14-May-22
Find # 10874

Found with sharkiefan.

The task for today was to tackle the Jack Speak series and a few around the area.
Despite the morning drizzle we still managed to make the Jack Speak finds along the road. Even with a DNF we still managed to work out the final.
Then when the rain passed and the sun was out we done more exploring and finding quite a few "Welcome to..." cache at each town we passed coming back up.
Throwen in was a couple other puzzles we had solved.
A fun day had over on the Mornington Peninsula with a total of 45 smileys for the trip.

TFTC -Lisette- (now adopted by pimpmyballoons)

14-May-22
Found with FUF009.

Jack Speak Day.
We had planned this trip a while ago and had the puzzles solved even longer ago.
Depsite the wet weather and gloomy looking day, we decided to head out and have a crack, prepared to give it up if it became too miserable.
Pleasantly we ended up with some beautiful if not windy weather and had a great time out this end of the state.

12-May-22
It's the 12th of the month and time to go caching... Why? Because I have (foolishly) taken on **400 Challenge....with a twist** which requires you to find 400 caches on your choice of a particular day of the month... and the 12th is my choice as that day had a big head start over all the others. My plan for the day was to finish the **Jack Speak** series and so here I was on the Mornington Peninsula.

After a successful start on this series this morning... and lunch out of the way, I was back at it. Apart from a miss-step a couple of caches back, I was on a roll with find number eight in the series for the day... a nice easy find.

Thanks **pimpmyballoons** for keeping this cache and the whole **Jack Speak** series going.

10-May-22
Great day for a drive, so stopped a few times for this series.

15-Mar-22
We solved these puzzles some time ago and finally managed to find time to come down to this area to find the caches. Apologies for some generic logs. Most of these caches were found reasonably quickly. Thanks to -Lisette-/pimpmyballoons for the cache.

29-Jul-21
After Lockdown 5.0, much needed caching was needed and what better way to do it by going out with my caching buddy Jetsons23. We had solved the Jack Speak series a year ago and it has taken us this long to finally find the time to go out and collect them. With the kids at school, we set off for our adventure. The sun even came out for us.

Jetsons23 was onto this one quick. I had a mild case of cache blindness here. The pine branches made for a pretty sight here hanging down.

The cache and log is in good condition.

Thank you for the cache and series Lisette and pimpmyballoons for adopting it to keep it going

29-Jul-21
Which tree... lol ....Finally out of lockdown and busting for some caching, oshfam and I teamed up to collect this series. We had solved the puzzles a while back but not had the opportunity to get out to get them. Nice sunny day, still a bite of cold in the air we set off on our adventure. Thanks for the cache.

07-Mar-21
This one goes into the "There's always time for one more" category. Wink The start of today's walk was just around the corner now so I stopped for a look. To save time, I checked the hint Red Face which that had me signing the log at 09:55 and I was off. Wink

TNLNSL noted clue and our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks -Lisette- (now adopted by pimpmyballoons).

13-Jan-21
After visiting a friend nearby I decided to grab some caches including the jack speak trail which I had solved long ago.

A quick find when I moved to the right host.

Thanks -Lisette- for the cache.

20-Jun-20
Why am I surprised? Accurate co-ords help! Not sure all this naval lingo will help me in the mountains, but this series was a confidence booster to puzzle solving capacity which is close to very average. Really enjoyed the research and the big ticks. Nice day out before the BIG winter LOW looms in on us. TFTC

15-Feb-20
Another Mornington Peninsula caching run today to pick up the first half of the Jack Speak series and then a few other odd caches here and there towards the end.
I'd solved the puzzles about a month ago, finally taking a closer look and realising they weren't as scary as they seemed, progressing through the series in spare time over about two days - nice and relaxing puzzles to solve that I enjoyed sitting and working out.
Overcast weather today with the occasional drizzle and lots of adventuring resulted in me becoming rather damp, streaked with mud and bitten by mozzies by our return home!
Thanks to -Lisette- for placing this series and maintaining it through the years.

A lovely pine tree cache - certainly the type I prefer in comparison to all those buried under pine needles!
Easy to spot, all in good condition.
Thanks for placing this one.

TFTC, Brainiac03 Smile

31-Jul-19
Out with my geo son today doing our first geo trail together. We had finished interesting puzzles learning about all the navel terms a while ago and was just waiting for a full day to pick them up. Great day starting with the sun just rising and finishing off as it was setting, Discovering this area was an added bonus. Picked up this along the way. Thanks for the series Lisette we really enjoyed our bison day.

31-Jul-19
Out Caching with XAMBO4U for a Mother Son adventure day. Time to knock out this series!

16-May-19
#15961. Heading to Portsea for a few days but detouring down the left side of the Peninsula so I can gather up the Jack Speak Series that I have wanted to do for so long. Also picked up a couple of "Welcome To" caches along the way. Two DNFs and a lot of caches without clues did not help me to get the final - which will have to wait for another visit, maybe!

Another one done and dusted.

Thanks -Lisette-

27-Apr-19
I made my way back down the peninsula via Hastings today to pick up some more of the Jack Speak series and a few other geocaches in the area. I fortunately parked right quite close to this one and it was a quick pickup albeit a tiny one. Thank you to Lisette for placing the cache.

It was leafotwind's idea to see if we could knock off the Jack Speak series (which he'd done the virtual hard yards on), and maybe turn the outing into a 50+ day. I provided the vehicle as he's, er, between cars at the moment, and despite the weather not quite cooperating, we achieved our goal, and some.

Only one DNF, which is pretty darn good considering my usual blindness to one particular kind of hide which happened to predominate this afternoon.

-Lisette-, thanks for a fun trail of caches.

11-Mar-19
I had solved the series some time ago and had always intended to try and combine it with a couple of the shorter series' put out by other cachers to achieve a tally of 50 for the day. I thought some company might be in order both to add to the fun as well as provide a separate set of eyes. Nirgalagrin answered the call and a good thing too! He dialled in a little earlier than I and a number of those bisons might have taken a lot longer without him!
We did end up hitting 50 for the day and amongst those found the only 5/1 trad in the whole of Victoria by happenstance!
Thanks to all the COs who placed these caches for everyone to enjoy and indeed in the case of the Jack Speak series have maintained them for all these years.

31-Jan-19
Crustyvarmint and I decided to attempt this series after completing the puzzles but after doing about 10 of them we thought it might be advisable to go back to the ones we had already completed to check for clues. Oh well a newbie mistake I know but I was having a bad day.
Saying that most of these caches were reasonably easy to find (some more difficult) but well set up puzzles, a joy to complete and informative. Great series. TFTC.

31-Jan-19
I went out today with Bunadoorian. We had each solved the puzzles to locate GZ, then shared the hunt. It was an enjoyable trip and we gathered the information for the final, but somehow it didn't work. More time required to complete the task. Thanks very much for the series Lisette. Please accept the generic response for our finds today.

06-Jan-19
After the hectic festive season, I needed a day to escape from my busy life and do this series with beckNmonts. I really enjoyed exploring this area. -Lisette- Thanks you so much for the fun series.

06-Jan-19
Pwala and I decided it was about time we found these caches. We had solved the puzzles about a month ago, but today was the day we were both finally free. I was skipper for the day and Pwala the main finder. We managed to only have one DNF for the series, and had a great afternoon! Thanks so much for placing this series -Lisette-

23-Aug-18
After finding the previous one yesterday I decided I may as well work on this area in my streak quest. Just like yesterday I came to this one after uni and had a very similar experience as to yesterdays find. A rather quick and easy find no doubt. Anyways thanks for the cache and the adventure.

24-Jul-18
Found quickly on side of road, pretty much the same as the others in the series.

Fantastic day for caching in the middle of winter and finding some mythical creatures. Out with Cheeky Wink for a great day of fun and this series certainly delivered. All puzzles solved earlier apart from the last one which we hope to complete today. Thanks Lisette for the effort put into this series. We enjoyed the route, the scenery and the hunting.

18-Jul-18
Nice easy find on a short caching run, gnome5580 did the signing and we were on to the next one! TFTC!

10-Sep-17
After spending yesterday doing domestic chores around home, we sat and worked together to solve this series after dinner. Except this one. Somehow, +wife did her part but I overlooked it. Solved easily on the trail thanks to Christine's efforts last night. Red Face
With +Wife doing the first part and me finishing each one off, it only took until 2am!
This afternoon we drove down here with our GeoMutts, EveTheStaffy and MaxTheCollie.
We picked up two letterboxes and a total of twenty in this series. Smile
We also found a great fish and chip shop. Big Grin
Thanks for the series -Lisette-
We will return to complete the course.

10-Sep-17
It was a lovely afternoon for a drive. The Geomutts are always impressed when their day includes sitting in the back seat, watching the world whiz by. Barking at other mutts and checking out the sights, sounds and smells in new areas.
Today had all of that, and more. Fish and chips in the park. Many finds and not a single dnf for us. Rod needs to pay more attention to detail sometimes. This one was overlooked last night but calculated easily on the way here.
We started at "Letters to Dad", continued on through this series and finished our day at "Letters to Mum".
I drove all day and n0w0rries did most of the walking.
Thank you for placing this cache for us and others to solve and find -Lisette-
Puff The Magic Dragon paid a visit.

27-May-17
Geo daughter solved a bunch of these about 2 years ago. I lost the numbers but managed to get them again. Today plan to find a few. . Tftc

21-May-17
Some of these you don't need the clue and for others you do. This one I shouldn't have but... TFTC

11-May-17

An interesting puzzle series that I enjoyed solving. I got started on looking for them pretty late this evening, and ended up looking for most of them in the dark. As a result there were a few that I didn't find that are most likely there. Cheers and TFTC

11-May-17
First find of the "Jack Speak" series on my second visit to this series.
After 2 other DNFs, I was starting to think that I am a day cacher only but pleased to say with the head torch and hand torch both on full power found this little sucker, right where the hint said it would be.
Certainly a different experience caching not only in the dark but with the fog blocking out the entire world.
Thanks for the cache -Lisette-

14-Apr-17
Solved the puzzles for this series in the week and thought I better get out there and put the smiley faces on the map. Went off on a tangent initially trying to solve these but the co soon recalibrate my head. Hopefully these will put me in good stead to get me to my 4000 find this Easter break. Thanks for the fun, TFTC

01-Dec-16
Geodaughter parked a mile away so we took a fast walk to GZ. One of the big pine trees in the paddock had fallen over. Look rather amazing with all the roots exposed. A quick find. Will have to finish the rest of this series another day. Time to head home. TFTC

Jack has spoken. I have had these on the Astro radar for a while. Great to explore and also catch with AstroThomas who is working in the waters near by. met some interesting people and tasted some good local food and sipped some local beers as I explored over a few days here.

Find #1207. Another mystery on our way to find a new location for a new hide we are planning. Thanks again Lisette for a fun mystery.

30-Jul-16
The long-planned birthday cache run finally arrived! Having discovered that Omegaman1971 and I were born only two days apart, we agreed to go caching to celebrate our almost-joint birthday. Omegaman invited a few geocaching friends along, and we soon had a couple of cars full. After birthday cake and presents in Hastings, we piled into cars and started out on the Jack Speak series. We had planned this trip months earlier, and had long since solved the puzzles. We picked up a few other caches along the way to add to our collection of smiley birthday faces Smile In the end, I did find my 1000th cache; it was nice to do it with such a great group of geocaching friends!
Thank you to everyone who placed and maintains caches in the region. I look forward to completing more of them when I move down to the Peninsula next year...

30-Jul-16
Okay...we have finally got to the Jack Speak series with 6 cache teams. We all worked on the series prior to arrival and moved though them progressively, making quick finds in most cases, although there were a couple of tricky ones. Also learn a lot about naval expressions. In most cases, this will be a generic post. Thanks -Lisette-. Great work. Oh my...this is a bit of a nasty expression...either way

30-Jul-16
Out with the Birthday Team (Morcs4, QueenK8, Promontory, Omegaman1971 and Happypants) to celebrate two birthdays. Thanks for the cache.

Suscoe had a delightful day out on the Peninsular today.
It was mostly sunny with a cool breeze and some rain came in late in the day
How lucky were we.

Thank you so much for bringing us here!

12-Feb-16
After picking up our new beast in Melbourne (Landcruiser) we headed over to Hastings in the company of DAB to conquer the "Jack Speak" series on this lovely sunny day. With perfect conditions for caching we started up one end and worked our way down to the last puzzle, collecting the clues as we went, enjoying the views from some of the vantage points. With the detailed hints making for quick finds most of the time. The new 4x4 didn't miss a beat , coping with the stop starting as we worked our way through the series making for a fun day. We unfortunately did not get all the clues for the final, but there will be another trip on another day where we can finalise this Naval slang series giving us an excuse to come back to this lovely area.
**Thanks -Lisette- for the fun puzzles and an awesome series.**

12-Feb-16
Another combined effort for a caching trip, today it was The_Tritonz and myself. Our plan was to grab the " Jack Speak " series of caches. It was very interesting learning all of these Jack Speak terms. Thankfully the puzzles weren't too hard either, they were all a pleasure to do. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, collecting the caches. There were plenty of laughs, mainly at Chris's expense. Razz We were spoilt with the scenery and the gorgeous weather. Unfortunately we didn't find all of the clues and we missed out on the final. We will return for the missing clues and claim the final !! Thanks for filling in our day. TFTC -Lisette- Smile

Find #1892

Apologies for the late log. I'm still clearing a backlog (no pun intended) of finds from over the holidays. I headed out on a warm New Years Eve morning to tackle a number of the Jack Speak series and a few other along the way.

This was find 25 of 27 for the day. Nice straight stretch of road here and as I was starting to run out of time I was also planning a route home. This one was a quick find with the help of the hint and I was back on my way. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for this series and for the cache -Lisette-.

26-Nov-15
Today we targetted this series of caches and enjoyed exploring the area, accurate co-ords led to quick finds.

Today's mission was to head down the Peninsula to target the Jack Speak series and to make a start on the caches along the sparkling coastline! Big Grin

I solved the easy puzzles prior to the trip and I had a great day collecting the caches. All were easily found except for a couple that required a little bit more time to find Smile

Thanks for setting up this enjoyable series, -Lisette- Smile

09-Nov-15
Well, our plan when left camp this morning was to follow this road and pick up all the Jack speak caches, which i had solved at home the week before. Things started going fairly well with only one DNF in the section we managed to do. All of the caches we found in the series today were in good order and found with little fuss.
Things went pair shaped though somewhere along the way when i noticed i had made a slight error on one of the caches so pulled over to redo my maths. While sitting there we suddenly heard a big bang and looked up to see the back window on the new ute missing, smashed by a rock from a passing car. So that was the end of our day. Hopefully we can return and do the rest before heading home to Albury next week.
TFTC.

One of over 100 caches found on a big day's caching on the Mornington Peninsula with some great friends.
There were many styles of hides and some of the containers were very cool indeed.
Thanks to all the CO's or placing them for others to find.

The caches found with Jabs and Budgietas were signed as JCB.

First or all sorry for the long log. Code 1, Budgietas and myself decided to do a caching trip / run and the Mornington area looked like a great place to start. So planes were hatched and we got together. This was the first cache of over a hundred we did in the 12 hour period of caching we had.
A well rounded style, type, size, shade and hides kept us guessing at every corner. So thanks for the cache and a reason to get out and about with a few mates for a day of endless adventure and fun.
Most of the caches we did were signed with JCB. J-Jabs C-Code1 and B-Budgietas.
