TFTC! 15 October 2024 3:39:03pm 8634 thanks to pimpmyballoons for the cache! Another quick find! Hoping to have the series completed today!
Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Thirteen: Mostly Mornington Peninsula.Weather: glorious!!One of several Jack Speak caches logged today. I actually had a former RAN officer staying at my place for a extended period back before I was caching - he knows the slang, I tested him on some of them. I had one DNF today and for the finds, the caches seemed to be in reasonable condition in most cases, but I was a bit concerned about the state of the logs and Im not sure if I picked up all the available clues. The road is relentlessly busy today, and although the placement of the bonus seems to want you to go west to east, I found that in a number of cases you needed to be going the other way to be able to safely pull over. This is a pretty awesome body of work, and I do hope I get to finish it one day, thanks for all your efforts -lisette- and pimpmyballoons.
Continuing on our search - the coords were about 10m out on this one but we got it anyway! Enjoyed the hunt. The road was very busy, possibly because the end of school holidays is nearing. TFTC.
After checking all pine tree we finally hit GZ cache was on ground at base of tree I did hang it back up where we thought it might go.
There is a very, very good chance (in fact most likely) the cache is still there. It may just not be hanging as it was originally intended. On holiday we were having a quick look for the obvious only. thanks anyway
Good old Jack Speak. I had tried to finish these last time but it could not be done. I had a whole day this time so I got to work. Left as found.
Found out and about on the 2023 trip for the Rutherglen Mega. Thanks to pimpmyballoons and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]

After a little help from dromaniax & the CO we calculated all the waypoints for this series and set out with our dog to see how many we could find.
We started at the most Southern Point and are working our way North - please note in this direction you have to cross the road to retrieve the caches.
We are enjoying the series, despite being scratched and prickled by a variety of overgrown bushes and vines. We should have wore gum boots lol

Holidaying in Victoria had a look at caches that are near our accommodation and came across this series. Given my love of pirates I had to give it a go. Early morning start with the kids while everyone else slept in.
GPS kept jumping all over the place, took a little while to find the right pine tree.

We were heading over to Phillip Island to ensure we were there for the start of the Great Victoria Cache Crawl. We caught the ferry from Queenscliff and had laid ourselves a cache trail to follow around to Phillip Island.
The weather was great for caching as the sun was out and the wind was merely a gentle breeze.
We have had the Jack Speak series solved for quite some time and today we had the time to find quite a few of them. We suspect they were designed to be found heading in the Southward direction, but we were able to find a safe park for all of them as we headed roughly Northward.
We found the cache safe and sound, Thank you -Lisette- for this cache and to pimpmyballoons for adopting and maintaining this series.

After solving the series had some time after work to grab a couple nice easy find, thanks for placing this series
Finally got the chance to make a start on finding these caches, after solving in lockdown.

Find # 10881
Found with sharkiefan.
The task for today was to tackle the Jack Speak series and a few around the area.
Despite the morning drizzle we still managed to make the Jack Speak finds along the road. Even with a DNF we still managed to work out the final.
Then when the rain passed and the sun was out we done more exploring and finding quite a few "Welcome to..." cache at each town we passed coming back up.
Throwen in was a couple other puzzles we had solved.
A fun day had over on the Mornington Peninsula with a total of 45 smileys for the trip.

Jack Speak Day.
We had planned this trip a while ago and had the puzzles solved even longer ago.
Depsite the wet weather and gloomy looking day, we decided to head out and have a crack, prepared to give it up if it became too miserable.
Pleasantly we ended up with some beautiful if not windy weather and had a great time out this end of the state.

As the morning drifted on, I continued to slowly drift in the general direction of Flinders, stopping as I went for yet another of the **Jack Speak** series of caches. I have had these caches solved for many years and it is only now that I have got around to starting the process of finding them... as I count my way to 3,500 finds. Another simple find... thanks **pimpmyballoons** for keeping **Lisette's** series of caches alive.
We solved these puzzles some time ago and finally managed to find time to come down to this area to find the caches. Apologies for some generic logs. Most of these caches were found reasonably quickly. Thanks to -Lisette-/pimpmyballoons for the cache.
With such great weather today, Jetsons23 and I set off to chip away at this series which we had solved the puzzles for some time ago. Kid free was something we don't get to do often. A variety of caches and hides kept us busy. Will have to come back again to hopefully finish off the series soon.
Thank you for the puzzles and cache here -Lisette- and pimpmyballoons

Out on a spectacular day with oshfam, we decided to do a couple more of these series having solved the puzzles a while ago. Had fun doing the puzzles. And equal fun collecting the caches. Thanks for the cache.
After visiting a friend nearby I decided to grab some caches including the jack speak trail which I had solved long ago.
Another quick find and getting into a rhythm now.

Why am I surprised? Accurate co-ords help! Not sure all this naval lingo will help me in the mountains, but this series was a confidence booster to puzzle solving capacity which is close to very average. Really enjoyed the research and the big ticks. Nice day out before the BIG winter LOW looms in on us. TFTC
What to do this afternoon other then go for an easy drive to go and finish up the Jack Speak series that I have put on hold for a rather long time. So with everything solved from this long time ago I was ready and off and ready to get these last two smilies.
Quick find all in all with no major struggles thanks for the cache and the mini adventure

After a successful run at the first half of the Jack Speak series last weekend, it was time to take on the other half en route to an event in Flinders today.
I'd solved the puzzles about a month ago, finally taking a closer look and realising they weren't as scary as they seemed, progressing through the series in spare time over about two days - nice and relaxing puzzles to solve that I enjoyed sitting and working out.
Much nicer weather today made for some lovely cache hunting and a fantastic lunch at the beach.
Thanks to -Lisette- for placing this series and maintaining it through the years.
Easy to find, hanging nicely in its place.
Signed the log and on to the next one.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Out today tonight to do a few caches in the hope of finishing the museum event. Unfortunately the rain and a few dnf’s made this a lot harder than it should have been. Thankfully as time went on the traffic became lighter and hunting became easier. Thanks for the series.

Out with my geo son today doing our first geo trail together. We had finished interesting puzzles learning about all the navel terms a while ago and was just waiting for a full day to pick them up. Great day starting with the sun just rising and finishing off as it was setting, Discovering this area was an added bonus. Picked up this along the way. Thanks for the series Lisette we really enjoyed our bison day
Out Caching with XAMBO4U for a Mother Son adventure day. Time to knock out this series!
#15968. Heading to Portsea for a few days but detouring down the left side of the Peninsula so I can gather up the Jack Speak Series that I have wanted to do for so long. Also picked up a couple of "Welcome To" caches along the way. Two DNFs and a lot of caches without clues did not help me to get the final - which will have to wait for another visit, maybe!
Another one done and dusted.
Thanks -Lisette-

I had solved the series some time ago and had always intended to try and combine it with a couple of the shorter series' put out by other cachers to achieve a tally of 50 for the day. I thought some company might be in order both to add to the fun as well as provide a separate set of eyes. Nirgalagrin answered the call and a good thing too! He dialled in a little earlier than I and a number of those bisons might have taken a lot longer without him!
We did end up hitting 50 for the day and amongst those found the only 5/1 trad in the whole of Victoria by happenstance!
Thanks to all the COs who placed these caches for everyone to enjoy and indeed in the case of the Jack Speak series have maintained them for all these years.

Today I decided to pick up a few more caches in the Jack Speak series .. it is a cooler day today and being a Monday, not too many people around .. it was another easy pick up today as I parked right next to the cache once again .. my geo senses are really kicking in .. I am enjoying this series .. Thanks Lisette for creating and maintaining this series
Last time we were down this way, I couldn't find this for love nor money. Today, I walked straight up to it for an incredibly quick find at 13:45. Go figure. Anyhoo, the moniker's now on the logsheet and there's a smiley in the ledger.

Crustyvarmint and I decided to attempt this series after completing the puzzles but after doing about 10 of them we thought it might be advisable to go back to the ones we had already completed to check for clues. Oh well a newbie mistake I know but I was having a bad day.
Saying that most of these caches were reasonably easy to find (some more difficult) but well set up puzzles, a joy to complete and informative. Great series. TFTC.

I went out today with Bunadoorian. We had each solved the puzzles to locate GZ, then shared the hunt. It was an enjoyable trip and we gathered the information for the final, but somehow it didn't work. More time required to complete the task. Thanks very much for the series Lisette. Please accept the generic response for our finds today.
Pwala and I decided it was about time we found these caches. We had solved the puzzles about a month ago, but today was the day we were both finally free. I was skipper for the day and Pwala the main finder. We managed to only have one DNF for the series, and had a great afternoon! Thanks so much for placing this series -Lisette-
After the hectic festive season, I needed a day to escape from my busy life and do this series with beckNmonts. I really enjoyed exploring this area. -Lisette- Thanks you so much for the fun series.

it was starting to get dark now but we pushed on regardless. Found this one pretty quickly.
What an extraordinary morning. Fantastic day for caching in the middle of winter and finding some mythical creatures. Out with Cheeky Wink for a great day of fun and this series certainly delivered. All puzzles solved earlier apart from the last one which we hope to complete today. Thanks Lisette for the effort put into this series. We enjoyed the route, the scenery and the hunting.

Just happened to spot this guy on the ground. Clearly its 'twig' home couldn't withstand the recent icy blasts. I picked another sturdier twig and hung it from that.
Not Found, we checked the tree that seemed to match the hint the closest, no luck. We looked all around at other trees and on the ground but couldn't find the cache anywhere.
Finally found on ground after checking every likely tree in the vicinity. We returned it to the tree trunk after signing the log book. Finding a safe place to park the car can be tricky along here.
I was sent to look at a tree, and Surefoot24 found it on the ground. Good looking Wal-len! TFTC
With a family birthday party down in Flinders, as a family we left early to collect some more of the Jack Speak series before going to the party.
Almost should have walked between the last cache as this one, to say some fuel and possibly time.
Nice quick find by my wife and I before the kids could even get out of the car
Thanks for the puzzle cache Lisette

After spending yesterday doing domestic chores around home, we sat and worked together to solve this series after dinner.
With +Wife doing the first part and me finishing each one off, it only took until 2am!
This afternoon we drove down here with our GeoMutts, EveTheStaffy and MaxTheCollie.
We picked up two letterboxes and a total of twenty in this series.
We also found a great fish and chip shop.
Thanks for the series -Lisette-
We will return to complete the course.

It was a lovely afternoon for a drive. The Geomutts are always impressed when their day includes sitting in the back seat, watching the world whiz by. Barking at other mutts and checking out the sights, sounds and smells in new areas.
Today had all of that, and more. Fish and chips in the park. Many finds and not a single dnf for us.
We started at "Letters to Dad", continued on through this series and finished our day at "Letters to Mum".
I drove all day and n0w0rries did most of the walking.

An interesting puzzle series that I enjoyed solving. I got started on looking for them pretty late this evening, and ended up looking for most of them in the dark. As a result there were a few that I didn't find that are most likely there. Cheers and TFTC
Solved the puzzles for this series in the week and thought I better get out there and put the smiley faces on the map. Went off on a tangent initially trying to solve these but the co soon recalibrate my head. Hopefully these will put me in good stead to get me to my 4000 find this Easter break. Thanks for the fun, TFTC
The long-planned birthday cache run finally arrived! Having discovered that Omegaman1971 and I were born only two days apart, we agreed to go caching to celebrate our almost-joint birthday. Omegaman invited a few geocaching friends along, and we soon had a couple of cars full. After birthday cake and presents in Hastings, we piled into cars and started out on the Jack Speak series. We had planned this trip months earlier, and had long since solved the puzzles. We picked up a few other caches along the way to add to our collection of smiley birthday faces In the end, I did find my 1000th cache; it was nice to do it with such a great group of geocaching friends!
Thank you to everyone who placed and maintains caches in the region. I look forward to completing more of them when I move down to the Peninsula next year...

Found with omegaman, Promontory, Morcs4, (_o), QueenK8 this afternoon after a birthday bash in Hastings and we planned to tackle this series to celebrate the day, so far, so good with locating the caches. Many thanks -Lisette- for the cache.
Okay...we have finally got to the Jack Speak series with 6 cache teams. We all worked on the series prior to arrival and moved though them progressively, making quick finds in most cases, although there were a couple of tricky ones. Also learn a lot about naval expressions. In most cases, this will be a generic post. Thanks -Lisette-. Great work. I wonder whether Up the Duff means getting into a sticky situation.
Out with the Birthday Team (Morcs4, QueenK8, Promontory, Omegaman1971 and Happypants) to celebrate two birthdays. Thanks for the cache.

After picking up our new beast in Melbourne (Landcruiser) we headed over to Hastings in the company of DAB to conquer the "Jack Speak" series on this lovely sunny day. With perfect conditions for caching we started up one end and worked our way down to the last puzzle, collecting the clues as we went, enjoying the views from some of the vantage points. With the detailed hints making for quick finds most of the time. The new 4x4 didn't miss a beat , coping with the stop starting as we worked our way through the series making for a fun day. We unfortunately did not get all the clues for the final, but there will be another trip on another day where we can finalise this Naval slang series giving us an excuse to come back to this lovely area.

Another combined effort for a caching trip, today it was The_Tritonz and myself. Our plan was to grab the " Jack Speak " series of caches. It was very interesting learning all of these Jack Speak terms. Thankfully the puzzles weren't too hard either, they were all a pleasure to do. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, collecting the caches. There were plenty of laughs, mainly at Chris's expense. We were spoilt with the scenery and the gorgeous weather. Unfortunately we didn't find all of the clues and we missed out on the final. We will return for the missing clues and claim the final !! Thanks for filling in our day. TFTC -Lisette-

Apologies for the late log. I'm still clearing a backlog (no pun intended) of finds from over the holidays. I headed out on a warm New Years Eve morning to tackle a number of the Jack Speak series and a few other along the way.
This was find 17 of 27 for the day. The traffic was busier along this section so crossing the road took a little more care. Once in place this one was a reasonably quick find. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for this series and for the cache -Lisette-.

There were many styles of hides and some of the containers were very cool indeed.
Thanks to all the CO's or placing them for others to find.
The caches found with Jabs and Budgietas were signed as JCB.

First or all sorry for the long log. Code 1, Budgietas and myself decided to do a caching trip / run and the Mornington area looked like a great place to start. So planes were hatched and we got together. This was the first cache of over a hundred we did in the 12 hour period of caching we had.
A well rounded style, type, size, shade and hides kept us guessing at every corner. So thanks for the cache and a reason to get out and about with a few mates for a day of endless adventure and fun.
Most of the caches we did were signed with JCB. J-Jabs C-Code1 and B-Budgietas.
JABs.

Got the rhythm of this series. Only problem is the number of cars speeding by on a sunny afternoon and figuring out a safe place to park. Lot of pine trees down this way. TFTC
