TFTC! 15 October 2024 1:21:16pm 8620 thanks to pimpmyballoons for the cache! Thanks for the cache!
Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Thirteen: Mostly Mornington Peninsula.Weather: glorious!!One of several Jack Speak caches logged today. I actually had a former RAN officer staying at my place for a extended period back before I was caching - he knows the slang, I tested him on some of them. I had one DNF today and for the finds, the caches seemed to be in reasonable condition in most cases, but I was a bit concerned about the state of the logs and Im not sure if I picked up all the available clues. The road is relentlessly busy today, and although the placement of the bonus seems to want you to go west to east, I found that in a number of cases you needed to be going the other way to be able to safely pull over. This is a pretty awesome body of work, and I do hope I get to finish it one day, thanks for all your efforts -lisette- and pimpmyballoons.
The last time I visited here, there was no cache. Today I spotted it after a short search. It's missing a lid and may need a freshen-up soon. Thanks!
**Jack Speak series**These have been sitting on my solved pile for some time. Time to turn them into smilies Found with Snips and Co on an enjoyable days outing to the peninsula. This was our first foray into this series, hope to return to complete over the summer. I think we found 9 or 10 in the series. We overshot this one, then again, then finally found a spot to park. Not too hard given the hint, but the container has rusted and lost its lid. Lucky for us no spiders were living inside! Thanks Lisette for placing and pimpmyballoons for maintaining this series for our geo-enjoyment. Cache on *Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Explore. Dream. Discover.* **Mark Twain**
Quick find, after I had done my usual drive to it, drive past it, U-turn, park. Thanks pimpmyballoons
I bought my Akubra down for this weeks holiday because I find it is the one thing that caresses my ugly melon. Regardless of whether I am having a good or bad hair day, that thing just jugs my rough lid felling fresh and awesome.
However, this week it has just been too windy and cold to get it out. I could have worn it but my ears would have dropped off from frostbite. My beanie has been getting a work out and my hat has been getting lonely in the back seat. tftc

Good old Jack Speak. I had tried to finish these last time but it could not be done. I had a whole day this time so I got to work.
Wrecked car on other side assisted with muggle distraction!
Found out and about on the 2023 trip for the Rutherglen Mega. Thanks to pimpmyballoons and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]
After a little help from dromaniax & the CO we calculated all the waypoints for this series and set out with our dog to see how many we could find.
We started at the most Southern Point and are working our way North - please note in this direction you have to cross the road to retrieve the caches.
We are enjoying the series, despite being scratched and prickled by a variety of overgrown bushes and vines. We should have wore gum boots lol

Holidaying in Victoria had a look at caches that are near our accommodation and came across this series. Given my love of pirates I had to give it a go. Early morning start with the kids while everyone else slept in.

We were heading over to Phillip Island to ensure we were there for the start of the Great Victoria Cache Crawl. We caught the ferry from Queenscliff and had laid ourselves a cache trail to follow around to Phillip Island.
The weather was great for caching as the sun was out and the wind was merely a gentle breeze.
We have had the Jack Speak series solved for quite some time and today we had the time to find quite a few of them. We suspect they were designed to be found heading in the Southward direction, but we were able to find a safe park for all of them as we headed roughly Northward.
We found the cache safe and sound, Thank you -Lisette- for this cache and to pimpmyballoons for adopting and maintaining this series.

Found with Bogonghazy who has previously solved them. Cold day but always time to cache. Thanks for placing the geocache
After solving the series had some time after work to grab a couple nice easy find, thanks for placing this series
Finally got the chance to make a start on finding these caches, after solving in lockdown.

Find # 10891
Found with sharkiefan.
The task for today was to tackle the Jack Speak series and a few around the area.
Despite the morning drizzle we still managed to make the Jack Speak finds along the road. Even with a DNF we still managed to work out the final.
Then when the rain passed and the sun was out we done more exploring and finding quite a few "Welcome to..." cache at each town we passed coming back up.
Throwen in was a couple other puzzles we had solved.
A fun day had over on the Mornington Peninsula with a total of 45 smileys for the trip.

Jack Speak Day.
We had planned this trip a while ago and had the puzzles solved even longer ago.
Depsite the wet weather and gloomy looking day, we decided to head out and have a crack, prepared to give it up if it became too miserable.
Pleasantly we ended up with some beautiful if not windy weather and had a great time out this end of the state.

Chipping away at the last few remaining in this series as I tick off my mystery calendar.
Another nice easy find here today with +Wife, on our way to an early Mothers Day dinner with the youngest son, his wife and our gorgeous granddaughter.
Found on my second pass, not sure how I missed it the first time.

I went out with Jetsons23 today to try and tackle and maybe finish the Jack Speak series and grab a few others along the way.
I just got back from the Townsville Mega caching in 30 degree humid days and I welcome the very cool weather here today.

Out with oshfam on this cool but fine day to hopefully finish this jack speak series. Rain is starting to come so hopefully we can still get the rest. Thanks for the cache.
We're back again for the Jack Speaks series after finding a number of these back in March. Apologies for a number of generic logs. The finds were straightforward although traffic on the nearby roads was always a concern. As were the blackberries!! This was a different type of find from most of the others today. Thanks to -Lisette-/pimpymyballoons for the puzzles and the caches.
My visit to the Peninsula was triggered by a plan to find the ** Double Calendar Challenge ** cache for my 3,500th find. With that task complete and still plenty of time left in the day, I was now stopping for of the **Jack Speak** series as I started my way back to Melbourne.
This one was different to most... and not a straight forward find. It took a little hunting to locate it... mainly because it was pushed "too far in!" Then I had to extract it... fortunately I was able to craft up a suitable tool for some things in the car boot. And the "fun" didn't end then... out with the cache came a hoard of angry little black ants who took delight in crawling all over me!
Thanks **pimpmyballoons** for keeping **Lisette's** series of caches alive.

In my honest opinion, this is not a good place to be looking for a geocache so close to the road. The guard rail is there to prevent drivers from ending up in the ditch who lose control coming down these hills. Expecting cachers to search here is not fair or safe. However, did not make the find here today.
After visiting a friend nearby I decided to grab some caches including the jack speak trail which I had solved long ago.
Overshot this one with someone sitting on my tail so pulled over up the hill and walked back down to make the different find.
Thanks -Lisette- for the cache.

Why am I surprised? Accurate co-ords help! Not sure all this naval lingo will help me in the mountains, but this series was a confidence booster to puzzle solving capacity which is close to very average. Really enjoyed the research and the big ticks. Nice day out before the BIG winter LOW looms in on us. TFTC
After a successful run at the first half of the Jack Speak series last weekend, it was time to take on the other half en route to an event in Flinders today.
I'd solved the puzzles about a month ago, finally taking a closer look and realising they weren't as scary as they seemed, progressing through the series in spare time over about two days - nice and relaxing puzzles to solve that I enjoyed sitting and working out.
Much nicer weather today made for some lovely cache hunting and a fantastic lunch at the beach.
Thanks to -Lisette- for placing this series and maintaining it through the years.
We'd skipped this one on the way down to the event as we saw that n0w0rries were already attempting it!
Some spare time on the way back allowed for a find here though, and a brief search brought forth the goods.
The container certainly does get wedged in there, but it was able to be retrieved in the end.
Thanks for placing this cache!

#3962 Having set up camp at nearby Stony Point for the long weekend, it was time for a bit of an explore and hunt down some dinner in Flinders. Mrs BGF had solved the Jack Speak puzzles during the week and we thought we would make a start en-route.
A quick find here in the obvious spot. Cache container was tight in its hidey hole proving a little difficult to retrieve, but all good here in the end. TFTC and puzzle Lisette.

Out with my geo son today doing our first geo trail together. We had finished interesting puzzles learning about all the navel terms a while ago and was just waiting for a full day to pick them up. Great day starting with the sun just rising and finishing off as it was setting, Discovering this area was an added bonus. Picked up this along the way. Thanks for the series Lisette we really enjoyed our bison day
Out Caching with XAMBO4U for a Mother Son adventure day. Time to knock out this series!
#15976. Heading to Portsea for a few days but detouring down the left side of the Peninsula so I can gather up the Jack Speak Series that I have wanted to do for so long. Also picked up a couple of "Welcome To" caches along the way. Two DNFs and a lot of caches without clues did not help me to get the final - which will have to wait for another visit, maybe!
Fortunately, this guard rail cache was free of ants and other nasties.
Thanks -Lisette-

Day 25 of my trip from Adelaide to Canberra via Tasmania and Victoria.
After spending the night at Rye, I.meandered around the Mornington Peninsula then on towards Wonthaggi, seeking out targeted caches along the way. It was great that the weather has improved a bit with no rain or wind today.
All in all it was a successful day with some enjoyable walks and 17 mystery, multi, letterbox and traditional caches found.
I had solved this series of puzzles prior to leaving Adelaide, but didn’t really have enough time to stop and find them all today. However I couldn’t resist stopping to find a few of them as I was driving by.
Thanks -Lisette- for the puzzle and the cache.

It was leafotwind's idea to see if we could knock off the Jack Speak series (which he'd done the virtual hard yards on), and maybe turn the outing into a 50+ day. I provided the vehicle as he's, er, between cars at the moment, and despite the weather not quite cooperating, we achieved our goal, and some.
Only one DNF, which is pretty darn good considering my usual blindness to one particular kind of hide which happened to predominate this afternoon.
-Lisette-, thanks for a fun trail of caches.

I had solved the series some time ago and had always intended to try and combine it with a couple of the shorter series' put out by other cachers to achieve a tally of 50 for the day. I thought some company might be in order both to add to the fun as well as provide a separate set of eyes. Nirgalagrin answered the call and a good thing too! He dialled in a little earlier than I and a number of those bisons might have taken a lot longer without him!
We did end up hitting 50 for the day and amongst those found the only 5/1 trad in the whole of Victoria by happenstance!
Thanks to all the COs who placed these caches for everyone to enjoy and indeed in the case of the Jack Speak series have maintained them for all these years.

Sunday arvo drive on the Jacks Speak series. Stopped and found this one quite easily. TFTC
Crustyvarmint and I decided to attempt this series after completing the puzzles but after doing about 10 of them we thought it might be advisable to go back to the ones we had already completed to check for clues. Oh well a newbie mistake I know but I was having a bad day.
Saying that most of these caches were reasonably easy to find (some more difficult) but well set up puzzles, a joy to complete and informative. Great series. TFTC.

I went out today with Bunadoorian. We had each solved the puzzles to locate GZ, then shared the hunt. It was an enjoyable trip and we gathered the information for the final, but somehow it didn't work. More time required to complete the task. Thanks very much for the series Lisette. Please accept the generic response for our finds today.
Returned to log this cache after last time not having any success. This time all good. Log signed and we were on our way to finish the series. Thanks -Lisette- for keeping this series going. Very much appreciate the caches and the historical language classes.
I completed the puzzles from this series a while back adding to the list of puzzles solved but not yet found so I will attempt to rectify this over the next few days. I enjoyed learning about “Jack Speak”... some of the terms I had heard, others were new. This was an easy find . takes care if crossing the road and take the opportunity to admire the view of Phillip Island from here. TFTC.
After the hectic festive season, I needed a day to escape from my busy life and do this series with beckNmonts. I really enjoyed exploring this area. -Lisette- Thanks you so much for the fun series.
Pwala and I decided it was about time we found these caches. We had solved the puzzles about a month ago, but today was the day we were both finally free. I was skipper for the day and Pwala the main finder. We managed to only have one DNF for the series, and had a great afternoon! Thanks so much for placing this series -Lisette-

Oops I hadn't realised this one needs checking. I'll try to get there in the next 2 weeks
----------
### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUIRED PLEASE** ###
----------
This cache has been flagged by Geocaching HQ as a cache that may need some attention. You would have received an email regarding this recently so perhaps it is time to check on this one please.
I am temporarily disabling it so as to stop it showing up on search lists and to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary.
**Can you please respond to this situation (or indicated your intention) within 14 days,** so others know exactly what is happening with this cache?
You have lots of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:
- Repair and/or Replace your cache or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the praises.
- If you don't plan on fixing it up then please [**Archive it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
- If you really hope to get it fixed but there is some unusual reason why you can't do it soon, then at least post a Write Note log (within 14 days). Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. For ongoing issues (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 28 days so as to keep everyone up to speed.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when I next look at the cache page, it is likely that I will unfortunately have to de-list (Archive) it on the basis that it has been abandoned.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.

Staying at Cape Schanch for a couple of days with sassieold55, we looked here but no luck, maybe if we have time may give it another try in morning before we leave for home Tftfc
No luck here today. Judging by the work completed recently this area has been renewed.
Used the hint but I’m not sure if part of the guard rail has been replaced.
Thanks to -Lisette- for placing this cache
Not found. We followed the hint but the grass around the area was extremely long and we couldn't find the cache at all. Not sure if it is missing or just fallen down and hiding in the long grass.

glad I solved back home and was great to collect them as Im driving to bon beach.
I went for the reach in and encountered a handful of spiderwebs lol so I chickened out and nyochi had to retrieve and sign but hey that's why I brought her along! lol I solved all the puzzles so it's only fair she has to do all the hard work! TFTC!
So beckgiz has been puzzling away at home getting ready to attack this series, as it often goes she's the brains im the muscle :3 so lets get us some CACHES
With a family birthday party down in Flinders, as a family we left early to collect some more of the Jack Speak series before going to the party.
Parked and quickly guessed where the cache would be. With no traffic, I then quickly jumped out grabbed it and signed it standing at the car window talking to the family
Thanks for the cache Lisette

Visit Flinders for the day with my partner and on the way to Hastings to do the Jack Speak series. Found it. Thanks -Lisette- for the series
An interesting puzzle series that I enjoyed solving. I got started on looking for them pretty late this evening, and ended up looking for most of them in the dark. As a result there were a few that I didn't find that are most likely there. Cheers and TFTC
Solved the puzzles for this series in the week and thought I better get out there and put the smiley faces on the map. Went off on a tangent initially trying to solve these but the co soon recalibrate my head. Hopefully these will put me in good stead to get me to my 4000 find this Easter break. Thanks for the fun, TFTC
Today I had the day off so I decided to go and have a big day of caching around the Flinders to Balnarring area, with the goal of clearing this area out. With me have to attend a Welcome back party for one of my friends who was studying abroad for a semester. Anyways sadly my day was cut short as I had to drive around and do some surprise errand in the afternoon. Anyway this cache was quickly found with little to no hassle. I would like to thank you for the cache and the adventure.

A very straightforward find here. At an excellent powertrail-friendly automobile parking spot. (Incidentally I wonder if anyone has ever completed this series on foot?) Thanks -Lisette-!
Looking through this series of caches of which we've done half I realised for some reason this one wasn't logged. With TamikaM1997 we had a great afternoon. Sorry for the delayed log. Looking forward to doing more soon. TFTC
The long-planned birthday cache run finally arrived! Having discovered that Omegaman1971 and I were born only two days apart, we agreed to go caching to celebrate our almost-joint birthday. Omegaman invited a few geocaching friends along, and we soon had a couple of cars full. After birthday cake and presents in Hastings, we piled into cars and started out on the Jack Speak series. We had planned this trip months earlier, and had long since solved the puzzles. We picked up a few other caches along the way to add to our collection of smiley birthday faces In the end, I did find my 1000th cache; it was nice to do it with such a great group of geocaching friends!
Thank you to everyone who placed and maintains caches in the region. I look forward to completing more of them when I move down to the Peninsula next year...

Just finishing off the last few in the series this afternoon, really enjoying the series so far and great to be closing in on the last couple. Thanks -Lisette- for the hide and series.
Okay...we have finally got to the Jack Speak series with 6 cache teams. We all worked on the series prior to arrival and moved though them progressively, making quick finds in most cases, although there were a couple of tricky ones. Also learn a lot about naval expressions. In most cases, this will be a generic post. Thanks -Lisette-. Great work.

Suscoe had a delightful day out on the Peninsular today.
It was mostly sunny with a cool breeze and some rain came in late in the day
How lucky were we.
Saw some beautiful countryside and enjoyed a fantastic range of caches.
Thanks to -Lisette- for this puzzle and cache.
The traffic was variable at times today.
Sometimes busy, sometimes quiet.
It was mostly sunny with a cool breeze and some rain came in late in the day
How lucky were we.
Saw some beautiful countryside and enjoyed a fantastic range of caches.
Thanks to -Lisette- for this puzzle and cache.

After picking up our new beast in Melbourne (Landcruiser) we headed over to Hastings in the company of DAB to conquer the "Jack Speak" series on this lovely sunny day. With perfect conditions for caching we started up one end and worked our way down to the last puzzle, collecting the clues as we went, enjoying the views from some of the vantage points. With the detailed hints making for quick finds most of the time. The new 4x4 didn't miss a beat , coping with the stop starting as we worked our way through the series making for a fun day. We unfortunately did not get all the clues for the final, but there will be another trip on another day where we can finalise this Naval slang series giving us an excuse to come back to this lovely area.
**Thanks -Lisette- for the fun puzzles and an awesome series.**

Another combined effort for a caching trip, today it was The_Tritonz and myself. Our plan was to grab the " Jack Speak " series of caches. It was very interesting learning all of these Jack Speak terms. Thankfully the puzzles weren't too hard either, they were all a pleasure to do. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, collecting the caches. There were plenty of laughs, mainly at Chris's expense. We were spoilt with the scenery and the gorgeous weather. Unfortunately we didn't find all of the clues and we missed out on the final. We will return for the missing clues and claim the final !! Thanks for filling in our day. TFTC -Lisette-
My husband was still happily listening to the cricket in the car while I hunted for these caches. This one was an easy find with the cars speeding past. TFTC
Find #1874
Apologies for the late log. I'm still clearing a backlog (no pun intended) of finds from over the holidays. I headed out on a warm New Years Eve morning to tackle a number of the Jack Speak series and a few other along the way.
This was find 7 of 27 for the day. I remembered at this point to pick up the clues for the final. May need to backtrack o get some of the ones I have found already - D'oh! Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for this series and for the cache -Lisette-.

So much variety in the caches and in the weather!
Ventured a little further from our base today and enjoyed the countryside immensely.
