Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Thirteen: Mostly Mornington Peninsula.Weather: glorious!!One of several Jack Speak caches logged today. I actually had a former RAN officer staying at my place for a extended period back before I was caching - he knows the slang, I tested him on some of them. I had one DNF today and for the finds, the caches seemed to be in reasonable condition in most cases, but I was a bit concerned about the state of the logs and Im not sure if I picked up all the available clues. The road is relentlessly busy today, and although the placement of the bonus seems to want you to go west to east, I found that in a number of cases you needed to be going the other way to be able to safely pull over. This is a pretty awesome body of work, and I do hope I get to finish it one day, thanks for all your efforts -lisette- and pimpmyballoons.

Third of the day and third for the series. Log book signed and in good condition. This one was a nice quick find but unfortunately the last for the day after the youngest gang member got sick from the chocolate shop up the road ????? Will be back at this series next weekend. TFTC

Having a long weekend break on the Peninsula, and seizing the opportunity to search out some caches. Having not solved this one previously, I obtained the final coordinates in the van after finding the previous find in the series. I parked opposite GZ, and after looking in one spot, moved along a little and made the find of the little container. Not the most common means of attachment for this type of container, but it works. TFTC pimpmyballoons and for keeping the series in play

Yes, we used to use this saying a lot when we were alcoholics. No more! Gave it away and took up geocaching instead haha. TFTC.

**Jack Speak series**These have been sitting on my solved pile for some time. Time to turn them into smilies Found with Snips and Co on an enjoyable days outing to the peninsula. This was our first foray into this series, hope to return to complete over the summer .A very nosy neighbour was watching us with intrigue, time to pull out the fluoro vests & clipboards LOL. Found when I reinterpreted the clue (which left? My left or your left? And how to you go left of a round host...?)Thanks Lisette for placing and pimpmyballoons for maintaining this series for our geo-enjoyment. Cache on *Throw off the bowlines. Holidaying in Victoria had a look at caches that are near our accommodation and came across this series. Given my love of pirates I had to give it a go. Early morning start with the kids while everyone else slept in.
Initially had worked out the coordinates wrong. Walking back to the car recalculating when we realised we parked next to it. TFTC

19-Aug-22
We were heading over to Phillip Island to ensure we were there for the start of the Great Victoria Cache Crawl. We caught the ferry from Queenscliff and had laid ourselves a cache trail to follow around to Phillip Island.

The weather was great for caching as the sun was out and the wind was merely a gentle breeze.

We have had the Jack Speak series solved for quite some time and today we had the time to find quite a few of them. We suspect they were designed to be found heading in the Southward direction, but we were able to find a safe park for all of them as we headed roughly Northward.

We found the cache safe and sound, Thank you -Lisette- for this cache and to pimpmyballoons for adopting and maintaining this series.

13-Jul-22
Found with Bogonghazy who has previously solved them. Cold day but always time to cache. Thanks for placing the geocache

Find # 10893

Found with sharkiefan.

The task for today was to tackle the Jack Speak series and a few around the area.
Despite the morning drizzle we still managed to make the Jack Speak finds along the road. Even with a DNF we still managed to work out the final.
Then when the rain passed and the sun was out we done more exploring and finding quite a few "Welcome to..." cache at each town we passed coming back up.
Throwen in was a couple other puzzles we had solved.
A fun day had over on the Mornington Peninsula with a total of 45 smileys for the trip.

TFTC -Lisette- (now adopted by pimpmyballoons)

Found with FUF009.

Jack Speak Day.
We had planned this trip a while ago and had the puzzles solved even longer ago.
Depsite the wet weather and gloomy looking day, we decided to head out and have a crack, prepared to give it up if it became too miserable.
Pleasantly we ended up with some beautiful if not windy weather and had a great time out this end of the state.

I went out with Jetsons23 today to try and tackle and maybe finish the Jack Speak series and grab a few others along the way.

I just got back from the Townsville Mega caching in 30 degree humid days and I welcome the very cool weather here today.

Thank you for the cache here -Lisette- and pimpmyballoons

Out with oshfam on this cool but fine day to hopefully finish this jack speak series. Thanks for the cache.

05-Apr-22
We're back again for the Jack Speaks series after finding a number of these back in March. Apologies for a number of generic logs. The finds were straightforward although traffic on the nearby roads was always a concern. As were the blackberries!! Thanks to -Lisette-/pimpymyballoons for the puzzles and the caches.

28-Mar-22
My visit to the Peninsula was triggered by a plan to find the ** Double Calendar Challenge ** cache for my 3,500th find. With that task complete and still plenty of time left in the day, I was now stopping for of the **Jack Speak** series as I started my way back to Melbourne. This one was a nice, simple find.

Thanks **pimpmyballoons** for keeping **Lisette's** series of caches alive.

07-Feb-22
Given myself the challenge of trying to complete this series. Sometimes the names would appear in the puzzle within seconds, sometimes it took 20 minutes to find it. Have solved them all and now it’s the task of getting out to find each of them. Will have to return to the few I found in the past to collect possible clues I may have missed.

They’re not really my kind of caches and many of the locations are awkward and inconvenient to get to, but I suppose it is what it is. I’m not always going to enjoy myself while out caching, but you got to do what you’ve got to do. If you put your mind to something and commit to doing it properly, you’ll most likely reap the rewards and appreciate what you put in in the long run.

Was handy to have a second pair of eyes here as my buddy spotted this one as I was sure it'd be on the trunk of the tree. My thanks to the previous CO and the current CO for placing and maintaining these.

20-Dec-21
Either my coordinates are incorrect or I just couldn't spot it this time. 3 months since being checked, so perhaps another check might be needed or I'm just not very good at this game.

This is actually a really late log from last visit to the Peninsula. en some time to come back. A sunny day saw a spontaneous new plan to head down on a multi mission that includes working towards 400 caches on the Peninsula - quite a challenge when you live in the mountains TFTC and the FUN

After visiting a friend nearby I decided to grab some caches including the jack speak trail which I had solved long ago.

Perfect height for me. A quick find.

After a successful run at the first half of the Jack Speak series last weekend, it was time to take on the other half en route to an event in Flinders today.
I'd solved the puzzles about a month ago, finally taking a closer look and realising they weren't as scary as they seemed, progressing through the series in spare time over about two days - nice and relaxing puzzles to solve that I enjoyed sitting and working out.
Much nicer weather today made for some lovely cache hunting and a fantastic lunch at the beach.
Thanks to -Lisette- for placing this series and maintaining it through the years.

This proved to be a cheeky little cache - nothing seemed to be turning up on initial searches and there were plenty of ways that the hint could be interpreted.
A few different trees were investigated before we came back to the one at the coordinates and found the telltale sign mentioned in past logs.
Very sneaky!
Thanks for placing it!

TFTC, Brainiac03 Smile

13-Feb-20
Quite sneaky but not difficult.

25-Jan-20
This was the second of two Jack Speak finds today. On a relative high after locating 'Make and Mend' and not having an opportunity to stop/park safely at several others in the series (lots of speedy holiday traffic combined with narrow gravel verge), this was my final JS port of call for the day.

While my GPS was pointing off about 12m my eye happened to fall on something suspicious and closer examination revealed the bison tucked away from immediate view.

Signed the log, thanks for the cache and the educational quality of the series, -Lisette-. (I'll wait for a quieter traffic period to come again and try hunting down more of the series.)

24-Jan-20
Circled gz a few times but didn't see the cache today.

31-Jul-19
Out with my geo son today doing our first geo trail together. We had finished interesting puzzles learning about all the navel terms a while ago and was just waiting for a full day to pick them up. Great day starting with the sun just rising and finishing off as it was setting, Discovering this area was an added bonus. Picked up this along the way. Thanks for the series Lisette we really enjoyed our bison day

31-Jul-19
Out Caching with XAMBO4U for a Mother Son adventure day. Time to knock out this series!

16-May-19
#15978. Heading to Portsea for a few days but detouring down the left side of the Peninsula so I can gather up the Jack Speak Series that I have wanted to do for so long. Also picked up a couple of "Welcome To" caches along the way. Two DNFs and a lot of caches without clues did not help me to get the final - which will have to wait for another visit, maybe!

Yes, we reckoned it was definitely over the yard arm by now so we are aiming for a lunch stop very soon. In fact this was the last one before lunch at a very nice cafe in Flinders that was dog friendly. This was a little bit sneaky too but we both sighted the tell-tale sign at the same moment. A nice hide here.

Thanks -Lisette-

Day 25 of my trip from Adelaide to Canberra via Tasmania and Victoria.

After spending the night at Rye, I.meandered around the Mornington Peninsula then on towards Wonthaggi, seeking out targeted caches along the way. It was great that the weather has improved a bit with no rain or wind today.

All in all it was a successful day with some enjoyable walks and 17 mystery, multi, letterbox and traditional caches found.

I had solved this series of puzzles prior to leaving Adelaide, but didn’t really have enough time to stop and find them all today. However I couldn’t resist stopping to find a few of them as I was driving by.

Unfortunately after a long search I was unable to locate this one.

Thanks anyway -Lisette- for the puzzle.

It was leafotwind's idea to see if we could knock off the Jack Speak series (which he'd done the virtual hard yards on), and maybe turn the outing into a 50+ day. I provided the vehicle as he's, er, between cars at the moment, and despite the weather not quite cooperating, we achieved our goal, and some.

Only one DNF, which is pretty darn good considering my usual blindness to one particular kind of hide which happened to predominate this afternoon.

-Lisette-, thanks for a fun trail of caches.

11-Mar-19
I had solved the series some time ago and had always intended to try and combine it with a couple of the shorter series' put out by other cachers to achieve a tally of 50 for the day. I thought some company might be in order both to add to the fun as well as provide a separate set of eyes. Nirgalagrin answered the call and a good thing too! He dialled in a little earlier than I and a number of those bisons might have taken a lot longer without him!
We did end up hitting 50 for the day and amongst those found the only 5/1 trad in the whole of Victoria by happenstance!
Thanks to all the COs who placed these caches for everyone to enjoy and indeed in the case of the Jack Speak series have maintained them for all these years.

05-Feb-19
I decided to take a post-brekky stroll for a look for this one. Having completed a nemesis one yesterday, it was starting to look like I was going to replace that with this one when I finally spotted something that didn't quite fit in with the 'structure' and sure enough, I was signing the log at 11:05. Phew. Big Grin

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks -Lisette-.

Sunday arvo drive on the Jacks Speak series. Bit of a sneaky spot but finally found it. TFTC

31-Jan-19
Crustyvarmint and I decided to attempt this series after completing the puzzles but after doing about 10 of them we thought it might be advisable to go back to the ones we had already completed to check for clues. Oh well a newbie mistake I know but I was having a bad day.
Saying that most of these caches were reasonably easy to find (some more difficult) but well set up puzzles, a joy to complete and informative. Great series. TFTC.

31-Jan-19
I went out today with Bunadoorian. We had each solved the puzzles to locate GZ, then shared the hunt. It was an enjoyable trip and we gathered the information for the final, but somehow it didn't work. More time required to complete the task. Thanks very much for the series Lisette. Please accept the generic response for our finds today.

07-Jan-19
I completed the puzzles from this series a while back adding to the list of puzzles solved but not yet found so I will attempt to rectify this over the next few days. I enjoyed learning about “Jack Speak”... some of the terms I had heard, others were new. When I pulled up at the GZ I decided to check the hint and took it quite literally . and I guess Left or right depends on how you approach .. for me Left was not right but that left right which in the end was right from where I was standing... a cleverly hidden cache....TFTC.

After the hectic festive season, I needed a day to escape from my busy life and do this series with beckNmonts. I really enjoyed exploring this area. -Lisette- Thanks you so much for the fun series.

Pwala and I decided it was about time we found these caches. We had solved the puzzles about a month ago, but today was the day we were both finally free. I was skipper for the day and Pwala the main finder. We managed to only have one DNF for the series, and had a great afternoon! Thanks so much for placing this series -Lisette-

This one was a bit sneaky and after checking the hint we really took a wrong turn. Found eventually.

What an extraordinary morning. Fantastic day for caching in the middle of winter and finding some mythical creatures. Out with Cheeky Wink for a great day of fun and this series certainly delivered. All puzzles solved earlier apart from the last one which we hope to complete today. Thanks Lisette for the effort put into this series. We enjoyed the route, the scenery and the hunting.

Thanks to -Lisette- for placing this cache

Snuck out last night for a bit of a drive for 4hrs. Left home straight to Hastings, took an hour, then crept my way down towards Flinders picking up a few more of the Jack Speak series and a couple of others on the way through. Not quite finished the series but have enough info to take a stab at the final co-ords. Next time. Thanks for the fun. TFTC Lisette

**Find #1442**

Great Puzzle. This cache at GZ was a nice little challenge. The clue was not clear, but reading a previous log had me in the zone. Very nice hide. There is safe parking here, which was good.

Thanks **-Lisette-**

Look for the cable tie.

07-Oct-17
This one took a few minutes lol we kind of took the hint too literally and spent along time scouring the tree trunks with nyochi even climbing up one a bit! But I finally realized we needed to slightly expand our search and the cache was found pretty quickly after that! TFTC!

So beckgiz has been puzzling away at home getting ready to attack this series, as it often goes she's the brains im the muscle :3 so lets get us some CACHES

29-Sep-17
It was almost time for the family party in Flinders, so we had judged the time pretty well, and we had only missed 1 of them, because I missing to parking place and I didn't want to miss another cache. Parked and my son quickly got out because he didn't want to be late. We didn't find the cache on the first pass around the obvious tree so while he ran back to the car to grab the GPS, I was just about to spy a cable tie and found the cache at the other end.
Thanks for the cache Lisette

After a bit of nagging on my behalf I finally got the CO of this series to do a bit of a maintenance run on some of their caches in the area that I have been trying to finish for a while. This morning was the selected day to get this done and double checking whether or not there are caches actually still here or whether or not they needed replacing, and in most cases they needed replacing. Eitherway had a great morning meeting another local cacher and keeping the game pieces playable. Thanks for the cache and the fun little trip.

###**CACHE OWNER ACTION REQUIRED**###
This cache is carrying a Needs Maintenance log which suggest some attention by the cache owner is needed.

The guidelines advise that the CO should make regular visits to check on the cache as well as promptly address any logs that indicate that the cache requires some attention. If you can not attend to the issue promptly, then you need to Disable the cache - I have disabled it this time.

Please respond to this situation (or indicated your intentions including a date) by **24th June**, otherwise it will be necessary to withdraw the cache from the Active listing.

**And don't forget,** once you have addressed the issue, post both an "Owner Maintenance" log, see here; [Removing the Needs Maintenance Icon](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) and an "Enable Listing" log, see here; [Temporarily Disable and Enable ](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) to get your cache up and running again.

Jack has spoken. I have had these on the Astro radar for a while. Great to explore and also catch with AstroThomas who is working in the waters near by. met some interesting people and tasted some good local food and sipped some local beers as I explored over a few days here.

The long-planned birthday cache run finally arrived! Having discovered that Omegaman1971 and I were born only two days apart, we agreed to go caching to celebrate our almost-joint birthday. Omegaman invited a few geocaching friends along, and we soon had a couple of cars full. After birthday cake and presents in Hastings, we piled into cars and started out on the Jack Speak series. We had planned this trip months earlier, and had long since solved the puzzles. We picked up a few other caches along the way to add to our collection of smiley birthday faces Smile In the end, I did find my 1000th cache; it was nice to do it with such a great group of geocaching friends!
Thank you to everyone who placed and maintains caches in the region. I look forward to completing more of them when I move down to the Peninsula next year...

30-Jul-16
Just finishing off the last few in the series this afternoon, we had a little trouble deciding on which co-ord's to trust, but it was only a minor difference and it was soon located, plenty of room to get off the road and make the find. TFTC -Lisette-.

30-Jul-16
Okay...we have finally got to the Jack Speak series with 6 cache teams. We all worked on the series prior to arrival and moved though them progressively, making quick finds in most cases, although there were a couple of tricky ones. Also learn a lot about naval expressions. In most cases, this will be a generic post. Thanks -Lisette-. Great work. As we had two different cords - I was doing my puzzles very late at night so maybe a minor error but we found the cache.

Thanks heaps to the Co for your awesome effort on this series.
One of the hardest to find in the series for sure.

**Find #2491**
**Mystery Find #297**

After a successful FTF hunt just up the road, I headed here to attempt to finish the Jack Speak series, a series that I started 2.5 years ago. I DNF'd here on my previous attempt. I can remember if the cache had been muggled or if I simply didn't find it, but today it proved no problem. It's alway good to turn a DNF into a Find. Big Grin

Thank-you to -Lisette- for placing this geocache

Today gwd.aussie and I targeted this series of caches and enjoyed exploring the area. It was well into the afternoon when we started but in most cases we had the cache quickly to hand.

Thanks Lisette for setting up this enjoyable series.

The sun is getting lower, normally it would be time for a drink.
But still a couple of caches to find first.

When I touched a bit of bark, the it fall with the cache to the ground.
After signing I put it back, hope it stays in place.
