Logs
#1881 (20 of 25 today)
Well, it's the shortest day of the year. And I've been cooped up indoors for a lot of the previous four days. And it's been raining steadily the whole time. So what better antidote to both than to try to find the most caches I've managed to grab in a day - before the sunset ends.
The best target for this attempt is Mulgoa / Warragamba / Silverdale - the haunt of The Boos.
In the end, I succeeded with 25 finds (how people find a lot more than this in a day without a power trail or a Mega Event baffles me).
But I'm happy with the finds - the final as the last embers were fading from the clouds on the western horizon.
[center]END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION[/center]
Two DNFs in three attempts. And it had been gong so well.
Hunt around where the iPhone was pointing turned up nothing. checked previous logs... Ah. Not sure if cache check required as it seems this is trickier than it appears, and coordinates may be out.
A little CO reassurance might not go astray, though.

Nope no luck here today. After 5mins looking muggles arrived and we departed empty handed. But think we had a good look though
We had afternoon tea in the park. The cache eluded us. The GZ didn't match the description.
Think we may have just missed previous cachers as their log appeared as I was logging our find. Tftc xo
This one didn't take us long to find at all - not because we're any good at caching, but more because the cache was lying out in the open before us. We have no idea whether that's how it was meant to be, regardless, a quick easy find. That's also one seriously creepy looking pogo swing thing. TFTC.
Attempted during a run around the area today with The Rats, steeba and Big Matt (also loosely known as The Gangsters).
There is a stack of tree clippings and broken concrete pieces around GZ making it a little difficult to even understand where a cache would be hidden here.
Unfortunately this one eluded us today.
Thanks Booo Booo for the hunt.

[Red]No luck finding Barney today. Was concerned that some had said this could be up to 10m out and didn't have the time to search through the rubbish and tree cuttings.
Thanks anyway Booo Booo.[/Red]
Thanks anyway Booo Booo.[/Red]
Quick find escorted by fwoar. This has moved since I DNFd it long ago. TFTC!
it was a DNF for GeoJane and I today! Lots of newly sawn timber and tree prunings around the area made it difficult
Where else would you find a purple dinosaur? Found in new location and soon had job done. SL..TFTC
My GPS wont settle down so I searched up to 10 mts radius - found it. signed the log with sevabo. Thanks Booo Booo.
Headed down the thin black line again to the Western Suburbs of the Big Smoke ie Penrith, Mulgoa and Warragamba again this morning to try my luck and find some caches I missed last trip and have some fun. Great cache. TFTC
I hadn't found this on my previous visit and it turned out that I just hadn't looked hard enough. I got a clue from CO just after that DNF and now knowing that I just had to search a bit harder, the find should have been made.... Well, I don't know where I was going, but not where the cache was. After looking around and somehow missing the cache, geowife followed in my tracks and said here it is... It really is lucky that she comes along some days.... probably would have been another DNF!! TFTC.
Took a bit to find. Not quick. Just about to give up and then I thought I would just check one more place and there it was...TFTC
Quick find, though took a while to actually get around to doing this as I pass this place every day. Easy outside school bus pick up & drop off times when there are lots of kids about. Picked up pathtag thinking it was small gc, will place it along my journey. tftc
On an arranged mission with All Strung Out to clean up Mulgoa Rd/Silverdale Rd previously passed Caches. Circled back round, as early visit had poor Barney under extreme pressure from bigger muggles playing ... an even earlier previous seek was a confirmed a muggled Cache. This time, no dramas as the walk was walked, the cache claimed. TFTC
Dropped by this one on a caching adventure with whitemushroom, only to find 4 adult muggles playing on the play equipment. One in particular looked even older than whitemushroom.........so we ventured on to return later.
Yep! like whitemushroom said! tftc Booo Booo .............PS I think Barney was watching!
I remember being here quit a while ago. The corner wasn't that empty then and the coords had me more into the bush. Today I found the cache while having an eye on Barney at the same. He didn't seem to be bottered?

Logged with the owners permisson. I arrived and started my search. I even searched where the cache was I found out. All Strung Out and Whitemushroom joined me then and found out that there were a few dnfs. The owner then joined us and said we could log it. Thanks for the meeting and the discovery of your TB as well. TFTC
I suspect that this cache may be gone. The GPS put me right in the middle of an open patch of park where I could clearly see the remains of a garden bed. I had a quick search nearby but no find. I would suggest the CO have a check to make sure this one is still there.
Team Boo arrived to confirm for Mr Roo, All Strung Out and whitemushroom that the Cache had been councilled in a cleanup. Still, all not lost, claimed Booo Booo trackable ...
Tftc. Barking dogs made it a bit less enjoyable but we still found it. Kids liked Barney.
Phone going flat and GPS not much help, and annoying yappy dog doing his nut nearby as well. I had an idea of where it would be but gave up pretty quickly, felt a bit odd creeping around here by myself. Will come back with the geokids sometime as cover. Strangely I think some friends of mine used to live right over the road here. TFTC anyway!
Mildly challenging for the kids between barking dogs and curious people across the road.
I got to the park to find GZ wasnt where I expected it to be. Again, GPS signal wasnt the best at the location and with that, forced me to walk around a lot to pin point the cache, which it finally did, and attracted an onlooker from across the road. A neat hide in the end. Sadly, the onlooker continued to stare at me while I walked back to the car and drive away. He was even staring at me driving up the street not letting me out of his sight. TFTC.
Reperio at 1425.
With the day still bringing about plenty of rain, I was hoping for a relatively quick find here. Said g'day Barney on the way to the GZ, and after a thorough search of the area, the cache was finally located extremely well covered up. Nice little playground.
Gratias Booo Booo.

We love barney...nice quick easy find but the funniest thing was watching Team Sunderland 1. running out from the garden because Mrs Team Sunderland was being bitten by mozzies & 2. both of them running through the mud pit with Mr Team Sunderland wearing new sneakers & trying not to get them dirty...he FAILED ...arms were flying everywhere so they would not slip over very funny to watch...T4TC...our 22nd & last find for the day
GZ wouldn't settle down for me and was miles from where Mrs GUIO found the cache.
I swear I looked there!!
Oh well I'll beat her to the next one.

Out with Hoojar and The Rats on a late afternoon run through the area.
After a little search we located the cache, not quite where the obvious path seemed to lead us. TFTC!

Out for an afternoons caching with steeba and Hoojar we stopped in here to find this cache.
Luckily we didnt have any people peering over the fence. We were initially drawn to another spot but soon found the cache.
Thanks

Out caching for the evening with The Rats and Steeba. We followed the path and could not find anything. We each split up and took a different direction, where one of us made a quick find in the obvious spot.
Cheers

I had a hard time finding this one, my GPSr was jumping all over the place. I was concentrating on looking & didn't notice the next door neighbour was peering over the fence at me with a worried look on her face until bikerbuddy stopped playing on the swingset & went to reassure her that I wasn't up to anything too bad.
He was explaining geocaching to her when I found the cache, so I showed her the container & the log, and she went off less worried about why strange people where hanging around their fenceline & upsetting the dog.
Thanks Booo Booo .

found this one in the drizzly rain while caching with a friend from out of town took a little while to find thanks Booo Booo
I struggled with this one but eventually located the spot it was hiding.
The ground cover is getting a real trampling near GZ.
No yapping dish lickers today.

Didn't find it first time around, and all my pafs were on answering machine, so off to another nearby cache. Here I got a call from a paf, and after finding the nearby cache I went back for a quick find.
I found it 10m north of where my GPSr wanted me, go figure. Thanks BB, and no yapping dogs!

After finding out the compass on the gps wasn't out, but it was the elevation that was 144m.
I could assist Garry on another find.

A day out caching with 92nty6. The barking dogs had most of the local folk checking out what we were up to however, the cache was located, log signed and replaced.

Last find of the day with pjmpjm, it seems that these little yapping dogs do not like geocachers. The cache was found after a short search and we move a fair distance away to do the log thing to get away from the yapping nuisances.
Thank you for the cache.
Thank you for the cache.
Found together with rogerw3 while on a trig hunting expedition in the area. We hurried along and arrived just before dusk.
The little yappers were out in force and there was even a larger, though mainly silent dog, at the far end of the park, watching our every move.
We already knew from earlier logs that the coordinates might be a bit out, so we widened our search and ignored the cacher's trail that's developed . . .
Discovered that the cache had a lot more in common with the little yappers than with Barney the Dinosaur!
All seemed to be in good order with the container and contents. TNLNSL.
I'm really hoping that my photo of one of the little under-fence yappers came out well! If so, will post it here.
Thanks very much to Booo Booo for the cache.

12.50pm. Our last day before we head back to NZ so we made some time for some dam caches. Thank you. David and Noeline.
The WaywardWoman returned to this one today for me and NickoHeap to log it. I found the coordinates to be about 10 metres out, but given the previous logs and the distinct caching trail already, this one should prove no problem for anyone.
The dogs were quiet today until we tried to return the cache. They are yappy little buggers.
Thanks

This one proved quite problematic. First trying to find the park. Then, the caching trails led me quite a distance from where GZ appeared to be. Yes, I saw, and heard, the yapping dogs as I used a paf, and narrowed it down. Thanks little birdie- I wouldn't have got it otherwise today.
I thought this cache should have been somewhere else abd refused to believe the GPS after it was all over the place at Leura today!?!
Eventually it was retrived from under the watchful eyes of the two very yappy and growly dogs' noses.
TNLNSL. TFTC.

FTF From GZ I suspect some years ago you could hear the roar of lions, now just the bark of a muggles terrier. Thank goodness I had already completed cache duties as he may cause some unwanted attention. 2nd FTF this morning and don’t forget to pat Barney! TNLN thanks .
