I was driving from Melbourne back to Canberra to go back to work for a few weeks before Christmas holidays. I decided to go searching for the two old geocaches that are up here as I headed north.I really enjoyed the walk through the old Cemetery. Amazing! And then I enjoyed the bush walk! Admittedly, it took a lot longer than I had imagined spending on a bush walk on my way back to Canberra. The whole adventure took over an hour. I also think that the Terrain rating should be more like 3.0 than 2.0, given the bush-bashing uphill that is required to retrieve the cache. Clearly they made geocachers of tougher stuff in the olden days I probably got a little bit too much sun in the middle of the day, but it was good to get my steps up before getting in the car for another six hours. And it was great to fill in two more Jasmer/Ausmer spaces in my calendar. Thanks for the cache, Sparkky and Janine, and for the maintenance on it, gmj3191 Love your work - a fave point from me
Really enjoyed this cache multi, even though I flustered myself with the coordinates. It was a beautiful day strolling along the track after taking in the old cemetery. A wonderful spot
This oldie has been on my list to come find for what seems like ages, not only is this a classic oldie with being over 20+ years old, but it also fills in a missing month I need for my [Jasmer](https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2018/10/the-jasmer-challenge/), January 2002. Well today I needed to find a multi cache today in order to fill in a missing calendar date for [RoamingHowie's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=24963346-56c5-4daf-8308-a01f60f5a5ba&wid=6a725450-9b6f-4892-abca-126a7026759c&ds=2) [WCW - 95% Multi Calendar Challenge (GC9Z59M)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC9Z59M) and with the snuggle muggle having an appointment after work I finally had enough time after work to come grab this one.So after work I hopped in the geomobile and made my way over to the posted coordinates. I was able to quickly locate the parking area near the posted coordinates and then continued on foot.I had read the cache page before arriving, but I did not realise that the posted coordinates were actually at a pioneer cemetery. It was actually really interesting to see and I enjoyed reading all of the informational signs around the posted coordinates. After exploring a bit and reading everything I could I remembered that I had a cache to find. I really struggled however, once I arrived at the posted coordinates. I missed the *"Jessie Cant but Williams is willing"* hint and ended up getting confused and looking at the wrong gravestone. I spent a while trying to figure out what I was missing for **Letters AA** and **DD**. Then my americanisms didn't help me out because I had never heard of / used *"less 1901"* to mean subtract, and so I was looking for a date that was before 1901 and could not locate anything. It wasn't until I resorted to a PAF to help me understand what I was doing wrong, that I was actually able to work out the correct numbers and eventually figure out the coordinates for GZ.With the GZ coordinates calculated I then hopped back in the geomobile and drove around to a closer spot. After finding a nice little spot to park the geomobile I once again continued on foot.Although the weather on the weekend was cold and overcast, today was a gorgeous day to be out hiking and caching. The warm weather made for a lovely little walk through the bush and over to GZ. Once I arrived at GZ the cache was quickly found and the logbook signed. It was truely amazing finding this cache and the original logbook. I ended up taking a seat and just reading though some of the original logs. It is alway fun to be able to find a cache, but it is truely a blast to be able to find a true oldie cache and be able to get a glimpse into what geocaching was like back in the beginning. This one of course would earn a favourite point from me, but unfortunately I am currently all out of favourite points, but when I earn another one I will be sure to come back and give this cache a well deserved favourite point.A huge thanks goes to [Sparkky](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=03ca15e7-fc70-46e8-8a40-2dcb969b8bae&wid=8c3cc0db-c2c5-420c-9041-754ef3c46a70&ds=2) for originally hiding this cache and to [gmj3191](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=b4585843-0564-409a-aee2-b35dc0e22ecf&wid=7f02d4a6-7755-4482-82fb-0404209c54d2&ds=2) for keeping this one alive for all these years for me to find today. TFTC.**Cache Maintenacne Status**The informational sign and the gravestone at the posted coordinates were in good shape and very legible. The cache container at GZ was in good shape, all of the inner contents were nice and dry and the logbook was clean with plenty of room for future cache finders to sign.**P.S.** I left my favourite point pathtag in the cache for the current cache guardian, [gmj3191](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=b4585843-0564-409a-aee2-b35dc0e22ecf&wid=7f02d4a6-7755-4482-82fb-0404209c54d2&ds=2) or next future finder to have.
Having collected the clues, I ventured out on a walk but about 5-10 minutes into it, I decided I was too lazy to make it all the way. So I turned around, got to my car and drove to the other end of the track to make a shorter trip. This alternative route was successful and found the cache safe and dry with the log waiting to be signed.
Wow, what an oldie and a goodie! Needing to walk off some Christmas over-eating, this fit the criteria. The sun made a brief appearance but otherwise a pleasant walk to a fabulous cache. Thanks for maintaining and keeping the fun going @gmj3191
While I have sought out caches working toward a number of goal on this trip, the highest priority was to fill in some dates on my ausmer/jasmer calendar. This is the first one of quite a few I hope. I arrived soon after dark which is an excellent time to enjoy the atmosphere of a lonely old cemetery. The clues were soon uncovered and after a final look around listening to the lonely call of a mopoke I headed to the geomobile to calculate coordinates and escape mozzies. With a likely GZ in hand I drove and walked to the excellent cache. Perfect!Sparkky's first is find number 3,248 for me. A great regular multi cache I enjoyed finding as part of my caching trip which started in the Mt Disappointment area and then meandered south into the Melbourne suburbs. Unless otherwise mentioned above, I found the coordinates to be accurate, the cache in good condition and the log dry and with plenty of room to sign.I am logging this one a couple of days late but found it on Tuesday the 5th of December 2023 and the weather was sunny, humid, warm and sweaty. Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy Sparkky and Janine and for looking after it Cache Guardian gmj3191.Found with Geooh GO
After making several blunders with the numbers, I finally got the checksum and was on the way. The final location is nice and off the beaten track, lovely remnant forest.
Love that the old log book is still in the cache. Thanks for maintaining such an old cache, I'm now part of it's history.

Creepy cemetery, I understand part of the assignment but I got confused with the last question, so I had to PAF for some assistance yep like others mentioned there is a different date on plaque, which was strange. And the place gave me the creeps, even more so than those dead huntsman. lovey walk only one stumble along the way. I blame it on not enough coffee this morning.. honour to sign and read past logs in cache.
So much to love with this cache
I first heard about the cache while listening to an interview with gmj3191 and this one was being discussed. We were deciding on a cache for today, and a visit to the Queenstown Cemetery would allow us to find this as well as a trad and an Ad Lab stage.
It was a very enjoyable drive out to Smith's Gully. The grave yard was extremely peaceful and fascinating to walk around. We completed the trad and the ad lab, then worked out the GZ for this multi. It was a little further away than we were expecting, but we we up for the walk.
As we made our way along the tracks, we were singing the Indiana Jones theme song (we watched the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull last night, and this felt like an adventure). It was a great walk in such a beautiful and undisturbed area. We didn't see a soul on the way there or the way back.
We were very relieved to find the container at GZ, having made the effort to get to it. We spent quite a bit of time at GZ reading through all the old logs from 20 plus years ago. It was great to see the original log book still there. We sent a photo of one of the logs to it's author muzza. My youngest asked him what his first cache was and ironically, it was Indiana Jones! What a coincidence!
This was such an enjoyable experience. Highly recommended and well worth the effort.

Out in the area for an Ad Lab but surely will need the older one too one day for a challenge. We had no trouble with the numbers as other had, as the description was clear. And a short drive and walk later, the log was signed. My phone was put by 7 m but we spotted the cache anyway. Great that this one is still being maintained, thanks.
After a recent trip to Queensland that helped fill a few gaps in our JASMER, we found two holes for our AUSMER (all the possible hide months still available in Australia). We had an unexpected opportunity to cache in Melbourne today and noticed two caches not too far from each other would fill those two spaces. So off we headed to find those two caches.
This was the second cache and the one that completed our AUSMER.
We arrived at the spot to collect our data and soon had all the numbers we needed (we took photos) and headed back to the geomobile to make our calculations.
We devised a likely set of numbers and then did the checksum; NOPE. Try again.
On the second go, we had the Easterlies, so we went back to the drawing board for the Southerlies. Ah, we had missed something that made all the difference.
Likely hide spot, check, checksums work, check. Off we go, then.
We parked nearby and made our way through the bush to GZ. Wow. Talk about spot-on coordinates. We were spot on when we found the cache.
We found the cache in excellent condition.
Thank you, Sparkky and Janine, for hiding this cache and gmj3191 for maintaining it. A Favorite Point from us for a great location and the fact we completed our AUSMER with this cache.

My caching buddy Fleabag- recommended this one so I headed here today and gathered some coordinates that looked ok but not great so I called my buddy to double check and I had it wrong so then realised there were 2 different Williams at the start point which must have been my problem. So I headed off and parked at the convenient parking not far from GZ and then I realised I had to go through an electric fence which didn't seem right. So, back on the phone to my buddy again who told me to check the checksums ... what checksums? Oh, in the hint ... I didn't look at that. After then changing my minutes I headed 3km or so in the opposite direction and arrived at another convenient parking spot and after a short walk this time it was thankfully a nice quick find at very accurate coordinates and signed my name next to my caching buddy. Phew, that was hard work.
Thanks Sparkky for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Found on 26/1/2023 What a great day to go for a walk in the beautiful bush. We walked to our first geocache we placed 21 years ago to find it well maintained (thank you to everyone involved in maintaining it) and the original log book still in it. So happy 21st birthday Sparkkys first and we hope many more geocachers find you. We also visited Queenstown cemetery and found a cache Paul the hippy placed. Beautiful day, beautiful area and beautiful bush land.
The aim of today was to target 4 old caches in the Eastern side of Melbourne to help me with my Ausmer Grid as after completing my D/T grid recently that is the next grid to fill out.
So got up nice and early (On a Sunday who does that) to be able find those and any other ones in the area.
This was the forth and last oldie I was after and it celebrated its 21st the other week so congratulations for being around so long.
Made my way to the cemetery and started looking for clues.
In my usual fashion I stuffed it up at first but the check sum helped me get there in the end.
Put the waypoint in and decided to relocate the Geowagon for a shorter walk to GZ.
A nice walk through the bush and then I headed off up the slight hill and soon added my name to this one.
Another oldie ticked off and only 3 left in OZ to find to finish my grid.
Thanks gmj3191 for keeping this Golden Oldie going for so long for us to find and enjoy the area.
Thanks Sparky and Janine and gmj3191 TFTC.

Enjoyed the visit to this historic cemetery, located the headstone and information boards, did the calculations and went for a pleasant walk in the bushland. Very happy to locate one of the very early caches that is now 21 years old! Thanks for the cache Sparrky and Janine, and to gmj3191 as the cache guardian!
Nice to see an old school cache still being maintained by the community. Ended up at the wrong William at first and was wondering what was going on, but soon realised my mistake. Drove to the other end of the track as I was short on time, but loved the walk. TFTC
I wanted a multi today and I saw that I had the final for this multi but had never been so I made my way out.
At GZ it didn't seem right and I noticed the checksum didn't match so I had to go back to a starting point and rework the solution and I found my error. Then back to a familiar path but 40 meters from my original searching point I was able to make the find with spot on coords. Awesome to find this old multi.
Thanks to Sparkky and Janine (Cache Guardian = gmj3191) for the fun and the adventure.

The last cache for the year, this one was on my todo list for a long time, so with Geo-wife
we tackled it, the cemetery part was easy to do and all check sums worked out correct,
the next part, the walk was something else, weather getting warmer, we decided to drive t
the other end and tackle it with a shorter walk, which was bit easier, but the short hill climb was
still there todo, but cache was found in a dry and good condition.
with log signed and cache returned, we headed home.
Thanks sparkky and (Cache Garddian=gmj3191

Found previously with BlackOpal2005. We thought it was time to create our own accounts.
Wow! This is probably the oldest cache I’ve ever found. It’s older than I am!!! Thanks for maintaining this cache.
Glad to have found this old timer here today.
Having been in the area frequently in the past on other business, today we stopped to gather the info and discover the hide at last.
Always find something unusual in a cemetery…

We wandered around gathering bits and pieces of info. Struggled with one of them but thankfully GT37 had pre-solved on another occasion. A quick call to the guardian CO to double check our workings and we were off to gz.
With the daylight quickly fading, we hurried along to find the cache in great condition. Honoured to add our names to such an old listing.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, Sparkky

So very pleased to have a smiley adorning this old cache at last. We ventured here ages ago but OHC hadn't so we worked through the details again. Just as well as the details had changed (in about the last 6 years). Thanks to our PAF for the assistance. A short drive and a shorter walk and we had the cache in hand. Thanks for the placing of this cache and to gmj3191 for keeping it going.
Glad to finally have found this one. GT37 and I were up here years ago doing family history research. A lot of her relatives are here and as it turned out, so was one of mine.
Thank you for keeping this cache going for so long for all of us to find.

An original notebook is a precious thing. Whether changes in logging were driven by more urban caches, micro logbooks, or smartphones could be the subject of a PhD - not a great one but I’ve heard worse - but whatever the reason, logs have changed. I enjoy seeing old ones with the real names and notes on treasures exchanged and preparedness to take a page.
This cache was a good experience all round - the numbers were clear, the walk to GZ has boards from the local landcare group explaining the features, and the cache was found smoothly enough. Thanks gmj3191 and Paul the Hippy for keeping this treasure in play

Found and signed with dalerious on another weekend away doing what we both love so very much . This part of East Melbourne is a glorious place to explore, and we do not hesitate to plan a day or two caching here . So many adjectives can be used to describe the area that these mystery caches have been hidden in. Majestic for one, comes to mind and we are grateful to be given the chance to cache here.
We planned our time away as always, strategically, as my man and I only get one full day a week to cache, and I have a fair way before he and I are on the same page, and can start to plan our caching future with the same goals. So it's catch up time for me, and alot of re-visit time for him . So many goals were reached this trip, and I got to sign so many prestigious old caches .
Wow, what a privilege it is to visit this cemetery and to sign the log of this grand old cache. I didn't know a thing about challenge caches until I met the love of my life who has brought so much excitement and joy, and opening up my geocaching world.
Thank you Sparkky and Janine, also gmj3191 for keeping it all alive.

I was out with my youngest who, if she’d known we would be visiting a cemetery, would have stayed home. She is going through that stage we’re whenever we drive past a cemetery she holds her breath. That wasn’t going to work today! The numbers were figured out and she was much happier one we closed the gate and left the cemetery behind us. We enjoyed the bush walk and the informative signs along the way. The cache was found in good condition.
Thank you Sparkky for placing Sparkky's first for us to find today.
Thank you also to gmj3191 for adopting this cache.

Having found the coordinates with Jen and Teddy but the day running short we didn't make the find last year. Today I decided to come back and explore the nearby mountain bike trails. Parked at the start of this trail and walked in to find a very well preserved cache!
Happy 20th Birthday to this cache!!!!!
I needed a multi today and I had noticed this Ausmer cache which I needed to fill a gap in my Ausmer grid. A perfect way to kill two birds with one stone. I set out to the cemetery and set about gathering the required information. I was initially thrown by C and D as my answers were suggesting double digits. It was only when I copied the formula into my personal notes That I realised C & D are actually CC and DD! Woo hoo I’m on the right path.
My first set of coordinates seemed to be in the opposite direction to where I expected. I checked my answers and sure enough, despite having read the question multiple times, I still made a mistake on the detail. With the answer corrected my coordinates were in an area I expected and the check sum got the tick.
I set off to collect the final and after a walk along the path and a short bush bash I soon had the cache in hand. Great to be able to add my name to the long list of cachers from the past 20 years. I spotted the Mr Wendel CD n the cache. I left it behind but it is a great track from the 90s!
Thanks Sparkky for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.
A huge thanks to gmj3191 for adopting this cache to ensure it continues to be available to be found.

Have tried unsuccessfully to contact the CO on multiple occasions, so I visited this old cache today.
I have checked the clues and the cache and the new location.
I have arranged for the clues to point to the final location, for the hint to reflect the true situation and for the NM flag to be removed. The Final Location additional waypoint has been updated.
All that remains to be done is for the cache to be re-enabled.
This one will be maintained by the local community as it is historically significant.
Thanks to Paul the Hippy for replacing the container and providing a new logbook a while back.
Good to see the original log is still there, in perfect condition.

I support this one being of community significance. I have tried to contact the owner over the last decade about adopting it, but never got a reply so I have just maintained it with my other caches in the area. Covid means it is unlikely that I could do anything about it before Christmas but I am happy to take it on. I note that there are no real issues reported with the cache. Just an overzealous use of the needs maintenance function.
Happy to drop by and fix things up here after the lockdown concludes, if nobody else has in the meantime. This old beauty is too precious to let go.

Whilst it is recognized that as a result of the current Covid-19 situation, it might not be possible for a Cache Owner to just pop out and check on a cache straight away, we still need to know that you are on top of the issue. Caches where the cache owner does not currently feel it is safe to maintain will not be archived in the normal time frame, as long as there is some indication from the CO.
**You do need to respond within 14 days, so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this cache. Please don't let a lack of communication kill this placement.**
#What you should do now:-#
- Should you feel it safe for you to maintain and address this cache now, AND your regional Health and Governmental authorities allow it, please feel free to do so.
- **Alternatively,** what you need to do is place a 'Write Note' log indicating an expected date when you you hope you might be able to attend to the issue/s.
**The Write Note log should be placed within 14 days.**
#Please Note#
When a Reviewer next looks in on this cache, if there is no acknowledgment from the CO as requested above, the Reviewer will assume the cache has been abandoned and process accordingly.

Just a bite to remind people that the original hide became unsuitable so was put in the nearest stump probably a decade ago.
Okay, here we go. After wandering around for some time, reading a previous log led us to the right place, roughly twenty metres Northeast of the calculated coordinates.
It depends on your hint interpretation (our checksum for our calculated South was 28, and East 27), but the results we got saw us subtracting eleven from South and adding ten to East. The coordinates may have drifted over the years.
Frankly, I think the most important thing to note is that, contrary to the hint, the cache is not up high, but down low, inside a log. Also, the container is smaller than the photos, so do not rely on them.
Otherwise, a nice old cache. Left some music and a documentary.

Today started out on a mission for unlove... a puzzle cache that had been in my solved pile since lockdown last year....but had two and a half years of unlove!! Hmm with that ticked off the list... I kinda kept caching and now this is my seventh cache! What better one to finish my day on though, than a much need Jasmer cache!
Thankfully my calculations were correct, although I did second guess myself after reading logs... but all was good. With additional research at gz, I quickly had the cache found and signed. Thanks for maintaining this old cache! It’s awesome that it’s still active.

I drove Aquilus1 around Victoria, it was a great trip and some great sights were seen. It was actually very relaxing not being involved in where/what we were collecting....I should do it again sometime. Thanks for making me come, it cheered me up no end.
Sorry for the generic log.... all answers (if any) sent by Aquilus1

Now this one was on our todo list due to it being Multi and over 20 years old, thanks for the old cache.
Well this Easter I wasn't planning on caching in Victoria at all, in fact myself and Goose of Gooseandegg were meant to be at the Mega in Dayboro Queensland but with the COVID outbreak and Dayboro being in a hot zone we would have had to go into 14 days of quarantine upon our return to Tasmania.
As it turned out this was lifted before we returned but it was too big a risk to take as neither of us wanted to be away from our families for that long or put them at risk.
So we spent almost a week finding rare D/Ts we needed, wonderful old caches and a few types that are in short supply in Tassie, thanks to all the COs for the hard work put into placing these caches.
Thanks for the cache.

We arrived in Melbourne this morning and planned to find a couple of oldies. Our first one was way over west at Riddells Creek, and this was second. Of course we stopped in between and took most of the day to get here but we made it and were very pleased to find this old cache,
Thanks Sparkky
I was all set to go to the Dayboro Mega when a COVID outbreak stopped us dead in our tracks. The Tasmanian Govt was slow to react and open up borders again and, not wanting to risk 14 days quarantine, the trip was cancelled and a hasty little adventure was created to Melbourne and surrounds.

Found all the information easy enough in the interesting location then off to gz. Parking was good but the track on the way a little narrow if any ongoing traffic had come but quiet. Cache found but took a bit of searching then made our way further down the road and through the very popular markets and out. Oops... sorry people. Lovely area.
Trip log: I have had a trip in mind for a while now, a 'Victoria loop' which would see a number of counties travelled through but also visit the last active Web Cam left for me in Australia and a 2000 cache which would see my Ausmer complete! A trip would not be complete without some company so a little convincing and a suitable friend was talked into coming along... and for good measure they would drive and keep me from getting myself into too much trouble while at it!
Counties featured high on my list, but each one filled with quality... oldies, larges, and types that where sought. As is the way the list led to a varied and interesting trip with some very amazing locations discovered along the way.
Day one saw a lot of distance travelled but just four caches found for the day, all quality and after a trip up Mt Buller late in the day we settled into the finest lodgings Mansfield had left.
Day two started well and the highlight among many was GC7A with my Ausmer complete but a great cache location and the gate installed for easy access was a hit. Our journey took us onto a number of locations and through the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It was here with the light drizzle that settled into solid rain that I was thankful of my driver who calmly followed my directions despite the conditions as I juggled caches on my list to replace the walks the rain and the 13 degrees weather had made too uncomfortable. Ending the day cold and wet in Dandenong the accommodation made up for the previous nights and the local pizza sure did hit the spot.
Day three saw a return to lovely weather with us driving the guard rail hwy... endless guardrails on all roads. Frankie the Gnome wasn't on the list but too hard to miss as we passed! Down to Mornington Peninsula and through some interesting locations towards Lakes entrance and stopped in Bairnsdale overnight.
Day four and after a little local caching around the 'lakes' area on another lovely day, it was the long haul up towards Eden. The 2020 fires devastation was enormous as we drove through the endless winding road with all the fluffy looking regrowth. Crazy to think back to that time and see how nuts it all was. Another full day but made it safe and sound back home again.
Many thanks to all the CO's for your caches that led us on an enjoyable journey through some interesting locations with great places visited along the way..

Cache type 8 in our hunt for 12 types today.
It was a long day beginning at 5am and ending at 8.30pm and ranging all over the city.
A very old Multi indeed.
I was buggered by the time we got to GZ and my caching eyes were not working well either.
We resorted to reading old logs for hints. Tftc

Day 3 of my extended long weekend.
Found with sharkiefan. An early Start seen us up at 5am and heading to the eastern side of the big smoke for an attempt for 12 types in a day, along with 4 Old caches I required for the Jasmer. With the big day of caching, it seen us getting back at 9pm and travelling over 380ks.
Another cache that was on our Jasmer list. after working out where the final was we headed off to take the short walk option.
getting to GZ we took up the challenge with all the low bush but after coming up empty handed we checked over some previous logs.
Here we found the clue to GZ. it was reading over SirJ-Oz log that refers to Riddles log that we were able to locate the cache... finally.

With the day off for the public holiday and a much cooler day that the previous few, TGLW wanted to get out of the house. I suggested venturing to St Andrews to grab an oldie cache. We grabbed a couple of extras in the area as we did.
We often come past very near here on the drive to Kinglake, but pretty much always have a trailer attached when we do it. That and we are mostly on a firebreak mission anyway, so lack the time to divert to find a cache. Today was different. The drive from home to here was no problem but as soon as we exited the car it started to rain, so after gathering the needed information at WP1, we decided to drive to the far end of the walking track to access GZ.
Arriving at the area closest to the track, we found another car blocking the way of the pull-off area, so stopped a bit awkwardly so that both cars could get out if needed, and passing traffic would not be affected.
We made our way to the indicated coordinates and had a bit of a look around, but couldn't locate the container. After expanding the search radius I read some logs and found one that mentioned Riddlell's log (25/07/2011). I went back in time and read that log, and adjusted my search location, and as suggested ignored the hint. The result is that I found the cache immediately. The dumb thing was I spotted the eventual location early on while looking for things matching the original hint, and didn't check there.
With the log found, and my goal for the day achieved, TGLW and I headed back to the car, where we discovered that the other vehicle had moved on.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache and JASmer/AUSmer month Sparkky

After starting at the wrong place then working that out we (Grub62 & I) went to the wrong site, recalculated, then went to the correct site only not to find the cache. We checked out previous logs then extended our search and finally I heard the call from up the hill. I have found it. We were able to check out some familiar names in the original logbook before signing the new one. A favorite point for the original logbook. TFTC.
Out today to get an old cache to fill my Jasmer challenge and one that has not been found for a while. Armed with hand sanitizer, Bunadoorian and I collected the required information. we set off in the car for the GZ co-ords but once there and a search being undertaken and nothing found I sat back down and reworked the co-ords. Arrgh that looks better with the description. While at the cemetery we saw one lady walk by on the walking trail. Once we arrived at the parking area - we saw the same lady walk past us - Yes we are on the correct track!! Off we walked - a much needed walk to keep my doctor happy. We arrived at GZ and started the search. After quite a while I decided to read previous logs and thanks to dalerious and GemmaSistema we extended to search zone and then I spoke those words we love to hear --I've got it. We then had a look at the original log book - how special that originally the log was written in the log book and by 2011 it was back to date and caching name. TFTC and for placing it so early on in this game and keeping it maintained - Sparkky and Janine. A favourite from me.
This one took us a bit of time, some of the questions were difficult after all this time, but luckily day1976 knows people and we got the coordinates fixed.
Great to see the original logbook, this was our last cache for the day and deserves a favourite purely for how well kept the old logbook is after all this time. Day1976 was gushing about it so we stayed for a little longer to read some of the old logs.

WE took so long on this one. And even when we though we had the right co-ords, turns out we didn't. Rooky mistake. Thankfully a PAF came through with the goods and we were adding our name to this amazing log book. Highlight of it was finding gmj3191's first find in this log book. How super cool! Great to knock off another old one. Thanks for the cache and thanks for maintaining.
It was late. Very late.
I toured the cemetary and did the math but nothing looked right. I read some logs and even though others thought the same thing with their math, it still didn't look right. I couldn't see any track on any map source anywhere near 25metres from anything I could concoct from the info collected.
Camping rough, I slept on it.
In the morning I read back to some much older logs (through the web page not the app), and found confirmation of coords close to my original calculations.
I went there and found a cache. [^]
Thanks Sparkky and Janine for doing everything needed to keep this iconic cache alive. It was great reading back over the original log book too that has been kept in excellent condition.
Thanks also to Riddell for his most informative log.

So what a day today Bridges, cemetery, letterbox, multi (this one)and drivebys. So for the Multi found the start of the walking track and commenced the walk into this cache. Found the area where we had to break track to the GZ. GZ located and hint (in a tree) well looked in the trees around the area and not in a tree. And then after reading other finds of this multi, we cast a wider net and then the cache made an appearance from its hidey hole (in a tree) that may have been horizontal at time of finding cache. So log was retrieved from cache and duly signed . Cache was hidden again in the same spot. It was to the NE of the GZ. To Sparkky and Janine, TFTC from the inspectorrexteam

Thanks for the peaceful adventure and missing Jasmer square.
Dad and teen had a day off so we chased a few different challenges.
This old beauty helps us tick off another month placed, and also gets us another multi.
We weren’t sure which of the possibilities to choose for “CC”, so drove a few kilometres away before deciding that was wrong. And then, as we were already in the geo-car it only made sense to drive to the end of the likely track. A gentle 300m stroll and hunt around possible GZ (yep our coordinates were about 25m away too) and the cache was soon in hand.
Thanks for bringing us to a great little spot; we never thought a cemetery like this would be so peaceful.

After a false start looking at the incorrect place for the information we soon realised our mistake and had the sums completed. It was then we noticed the 'moderate walk' part of the description; we've just finished race 2 of the Trail Running Series down at Rob Roy Hill Climb so we are in no condition to complete this. We will be back on another day.
Wow this one has been here for 16 years. I solved the coordinates from the grave site months ago but light was fading on me. I was in the area and made my to WP2. I did a massive bushbash with a friend to get this. I took the complete hard way to get there... so silly, I thought it was somewhere starting off near the main road but not exactly... We searched about 20 metres northeast of GZ... we should have searched there earlier. Found straight away. Thanks for the interesting cache!
In the area with GemmaSistema hitting up the nearby geo art we decided to target this multi for the date placed. After getting the required info we went for a nice walk but had serious doubts about our numbers when after 20 minutes we still hadn't come up with the find. But eventually, Gemma sung out the magic words "got it" Thanks for the great multi
A day of geocaching with wozzle68 today saw us complete the nearby geoart then hunt out some other nearby caches. This was on my hit list due to the u i queen month and year it was published it. Coords sorted and the searching began. I think it was over 20mins before I finally called out "got it" approximately 27metres further up the hill than I'd thought. Phew. So pleased to tick it off but boy was I hot and sweaty. We took the walk back to the car very slowly! Many thanks for the cache.
Disappointing when you think you have the clues and a walk into the cache but not able to find it. Still it is a great day and a lovely walk so all is not lost
Suscoe did the maths, came up with a range of possibilities.
Sorted them and check in with a PAF.
What an enjoyable walk and then a search that took a while with the GPS doing circles.
Thanks to Sparky and Janine.

Between doing some power trails today (Space Pursuit in the morning, Mt Disappointment in the afternoon) I decided to break thinks up with a little trip into Smiths Gully.
My calculated GZ had no cache but reading past logs I widened my search 'a little' and soon found the old cache.
I enjoyed reading the original logbook.
Thanks and congrats on your first, Sparkky.

Like the previous finder I decided to do this for the challenge. Today was hot so I arrived in the morning before it got really hot. Near the listed co-ords I got most of the information and moved to the grave. Here I also got the information. The calculated spot looked ok but on arrival I realised that I must have made a mistake. Back at the cemetery I checked the info. Obviously I have a different idea of what "visible" means. I drove to Gz which matched the description I expected. There was not much parking but I managed to find a spot. After a short walk along the track I headed into the bush noting that the cache was about 20m out. This was indeed the case and I was glad of the tip in a past log. I soon found the cache, which was in excellent order. Thanks Sparkky

The last cache of the evening with Jimbo_80, found just before lack of torches would have meant calling the whole thing off. I've already said in my log for the traditional cache that the cemetery is bit awesome. Cos it is. The coordinates were assembled without toooo much fuss. Though there was some unecessary deliberation about the interpretation of the gravesite instructions. I think I was mainly just crosseyed and mis-reading stuff at that point.
The area around GZ was approximately as fabulous as the starting location. The search was not brief, however. A wide area was covered. Ultimately Jimbo_80 correctly applied advice buried in the logs and found the cache at least 20 metres from the assembled coordinates. Noice. Thanks a lot Sparkky and Janine, wherever you are!

I needed this January 2002 cache for the Ausmer challenge, but I decided not to attempt it based on some of the logs, and ended up finding a 1/02 in Adelaide!
On the way back from Kinglake today, BendSinister suggested this - since we were in the area, why not!
We were unsure of some of the questions and had two GZs which both looked promising - we went with the one that more closely matched the description.
We were quickly losing light and didn't spot anything at GZ, despite widening our search area. After reading in some logs that it was about 20m away, I soon spotted something, "found it"!
Thank you

On my way home from caching in Kinglake and grabbing a few more along the way. Always enjoy a cemetery multi. Well I made real hard work of getting the co-ords until I finally figured out where to get the proper figures from. Once that was done it was off for a very pleasant walk to the final. Searching GZ for 30min had me empty handed. I started to doubt my numbers. With my phone almost out of power, and on dim, I could just make out the text of a previous finders log, that made reference that the cache was 20m N.E. of GZ. With this info the cache was quickly found.
Thanks **Sparkky and janine**

This cache popped up on my radar some time ago as it is the only cache placed in Victoria in January 2002 which is still in play so it was a must find. I thought I might have some luck early last month when I and n0w0rries found ourselves in the general vicinity with Lukie1987 trying to keep him distracted whilst a surprise party was put together by his lovely partner. Unfortunately we ran out of time after the gathering of the information and at any rate weren’t quite sure whether we had the right values as the distance to GZ was a fair bit further than what a previous finder had told us.
Turning up today I rechecked the values, recalculated the co-ordinates and yes, had the same distance coming up on my gadget that I and n0w0rries had last time when we first calculated GZ. So, nothing for it, but off for a bit of a walk. At about the halfway point I thought that McLookers and The_Tritonz had it right, I should have driven closer and had a shorter walk in. But onwards and up/downwards at various points fortified by the spirit of n0w0rries. After negotiating parts of the track I finally made it to GZ and came up with.....a nest and a well formed bird’s nest at that which I carefully replaced back where I found it and began systematically checking the area. After wandering around for a while I looked up and spotted the tell-tale hint of plastic. Bingo! This cache is no longer unloved and the spirit of n0w0rries moved me sufficiently such that his name now appears in the log.
For future finders the cache is 20m north-east of calculated GZ and yes you will have a bit more elevation to cover....

Our first visit here was cut short by the need to celebrate a birthday.
It seems our information gathering skills were pretty good all the same as today the cache was found.
Thanks for the cache Sparkky and Janine.

My first attempt at this old gem, sadly unsuccessful.
Time restraints and incoming storm means more effort for another day.

Will try again when we are in the area again with more time. Might check calculations again too.
Enjoying a day's caching in the Melbourne area in the company of McLookers targeting specific caches we progressively headed north easterly to this stunning bushland and quaint cemetery. We collected our clues and decided to drive a little closer to GZ due to the lateness of the afternoon and the dimming light. Once at GZ the cache was found easily and we celebrated with McLookers on her 500th multi.
Thanks Sparkky for bringing us here to this great location.

In Melbourne today with The Tritonz specifically targeting a series, old caches and D/T's, this one was on our list. This is an interesting cemetery and once we had checked our calculations, we decided to drive closer to GZ as it was getting dark. A nice walk and a bit of an uphill saw us spy the cache using the great hints in earlier logs. Thanks for keeping this one going Sparkky, it is my 500th multi find.
We looked a couple of minutes in the wrong spot. Then calculated new coordinates and headed of. The local Saturday market had the road closed so we had a walk from town. Once at GZ we looked quite a while and in the end Moosetash coordinates made the day. Thanx for an oldie.
Took a little while to figure out which William, we calculated a waypoint and searched there before re-checking. Got a new waypoint that looked to be more promising. After a long search we found the cache. TFTC
Found this a little confusing. Started off at wrong tomb stone but same surname. Went off to do trad nearby and had a light bulb moment. Got co ordinates but didn't look right adjusted one if the numbers that i guessed. There was a weird guy hanging out at the cemetery. Thought he was a cacher at first. I found gz to be outby 25m sw. In a log.
Thanks to moosetash for the adjustments. We also hadn't read carefully enough at the beginning but realised that we must have made a mistake! Nice walk with Kate of KatenIan! Tnln, tftc

With a 3 year old and 6 year old in tow, we made a game effort after parking near Queenstown Cemetery. I suspect that we were in the right place (after solving the clues) and there were lots of good candidates for the location of the cache (one in particular stood out, after we decoded the hint) but no luck. As others have pointed out, this was a beautiful walk with nicely informative signs from Parks Victoria.

Well, here I am, about to tackle this multi for the third time...
First things first... I checked my calculations, for the umpteenth time, and made the recommended adjustments. OK. This time for sure, in the words of my favourite cartoon moose.
Another first: this is the first time I've walked the trail from the southern end... and well worth the walk, regardless of whether there's a cache at the other end.
So... up the trail until familiar territory, then up the hill... and out the other side to a creeklet. Hmmm... this doesn't look right. Oh, I mis-keyed a portion of the coordinates, and probably added a terrain star in the bargain. Oh well.
With my earlier oops sorted out, I reached a more likely search area, and there it was (cue the "Hallelujah Chorus").
At last! Third time lucky, and another placed month in the can. Thanks, Sparkky, for the cache, to Paul the Hippy for helping keep it alive (we can't afford to lose these old hides), and to Riddell for the best formula on how to adjust coordinates. <---- Hint for subsequent searchers. Read previous logs.
#3036
Addendum: As if there hadn't been enough drama relating to this cache... I got about a quarter of the way back to the car, and realized that I'd left my trekking pole at the first coordinates I stupidly went to. So... back up and over. Oh well, extra steps added to the count for the day.

well I had just nabbed the traditional here
so stopped to gather the info for this one ...
still took a couple of goes before I got some likely coordinates [:o)]
then off for a look
wandered back from the St Andrews end
found a spot [?]
widened the search area ...
read the logs ... been a few finds
but no cache for me
oh well
hopefully I just got the calc's wrong
or I just didn't look hard enough
thanks for the wander anyway
nice walk [^]
... and now home reading more logs
looks like I wasn't quite in the right spot
bugger
not sure when I will be back for this one [?]

Iv done this a long time ago I don't know why it has not been found. Or maybe was deleted at some stage. not sure but it was a nice walk thanks.
Took a little while to work out the clues but persevered. Found it slightly to the left of coordinates. Took dinosaur rubber and sheriff's badge for next cache. Thanks sjd19278.
Great puzzle and one of my first multis. Left my heart, a Sustrans sheriffs badge and a dinosaur rubber. Picked up the geocoin. Will take it with me on my travels. Thanks for placing this for us to find. All the way from NE England x
Had to have a couple of goes at solving - the first coordinates I got didn't make sense. After some closer reading I got there. Cheated (a little) by taking the car closer to the cache - I was on a tight schedule. The cache was in good condition after a quick find using the adjusted coordinates. TFTC!
Out caching with Morcs4 to get a D5 souvenir and to tick off some found by dates. At WP1 we found the items we needed, but I wasn't convinced my numbers were right. I checked and double-checked my maths and took into account Moosetash's updated coords (thanks Moosetash!). Morcs4 reassured me that we would find the cache at my tentative GZ, so we drove instead of walking as we were running out of time for school pick ups. A lovely walk through a fascinating landscape. We got close to GZ and found the trail, and I was still very unsure that this was GZ. Then Morcs4 found cacher droppings (a Sharpie) and we knew then that we were right. We saw where the cache must have originally been, then Morcs4 spotted something. It is a little hard to do happy dances on the side of a hill, so we did them on the inside and grinned like the moon instead. I loved reading through the original 2002 logs. No maintenance needed on this cache. All is as it should be (taking into consideration Moosetash's coord adjustments). Thanks a lot Sparkky and to Paul_the_Hippy for looking out for this cache. Dropped a TB called A Cache a Day that looks like an apple and has a barely readable code on it -- it's definitely a trackable though. Thanks Morcs4 and mini-Morcs4 for a fantastic morning's adventure.
Straight after geodaughter's swimming lesson, we raced home to pick up Vanessa(&Aodh) and headed to Have You Got Rock in Your Head for our 2015 D5 Road Trip, which we found really quickly so we wanted to do more, of course. I wanted to do this one for my Jasmer Calender. We reached this beautiful area and found the info very quickly. Vanessa worked it all out including factoring in MOOSETASH extra sums. We worked out that we needed to walk or drive to the cache location so we quickly did the Trad cache in the same Cemetery. Then we drove to the other end of the track (and negotiated our way around a Water truck on the narrow dirt track), we were getting close to school pickup. Vanessa was very concerned about her sums but I told her that we had checked them twice and the other clues, and then we found a sharpie on the track off the main track...this reassured her to no end. And soon enough we walked straight up to the cache. TFTC. Now we have to do school pickup. What an awesome day of caching! Thanks Vanessa and CO Sparkky. on the way out of the area we came across 2 kangaroos that had just hopped onto the dirt road in front of us.
Cache has been moved and coords haven't been updated. Our GPS suggested that once you have worked out the final coords, subtract 8 from the decimal digits in the southings and add 13 to the decimal digits in the eastings. Or just walk up the hill roughly 20m slightly to the left and find a fallen over tree.
We found GZ with nothing in it, then checked the previous logs. To our dismay things weren't looking good. We widened our search area, and thankfully, just as it was turning dark, the Moose located it. Our GPS had 20m uphill from GZ. I will log a needs maintenance suggesting that the coords be changed.
It was found only 2 weeks ago. No dnf on it yet. How did you search for it? Due to a hollow collapsing I placed it in another about 10m away.
A quick multi to find the details and then back into the car for a drive to collect it. I would have walked but at 7am its a bit nippy. The cache was a bit further up hill than the GPS said but soon found and signed. Thanks
Well, this one stumped us for a while. After walking back to recheck the coords, we got the correct ones then drove to St. Andrews to take the short way in. Around 25m off GZ. took nothing, left coloring pencils.
Cheers

Found @ 6:39pm, find # 4233.
Another caching run with biggles1024, this time we headed North with a few in our sights, those being caches that fill our placed months grid as well as a night cache.
This one was one of the main targets for this trip, we had a look around the cemetery and gathered the information that we needed, then worked on the numbers. Once we had our GZ coordinated we checked where it was and then found a couple of trads before arriving there.
We arrived at GZ and started our search but nothing was revealing its self, the search area was widened and after a while it was widened a bit more until Mark made the find.
The cache page is a bit misleading as the cache container is a lot smaller than 10 litres and the fact that it states that the cache is hidden 25 metres from the track, were we found it, it was more than 50 metres from the track and about 22 metres from our indicated GZ.
Thanks to Sparky for placing this cache all those years ago.

Out for a short caching with Stemicmitsar tonight. The plan was to head to Research/St. Andrews/Eltham area to target some caches we needed for our respective "finds by placed month" grids. We did that, but also inadvertently turned it into a "Multi cache" binge outing too.
This cache was one of our main targets for tonight. Any opportunity to find such an old cache can't be passed up. We collected the information from the cemetery and as time was limited, decided to drive to GZ collecting a couple of trads along the way.
On our arrival at GZ, there was no discernable hiding spot capable of concealing a ten litre container. We widened our search radius but still the cache didn't reveal itself to us. [B)] Steve went one way and I went the other as we circled around until I caught a glimpse of a container. It was the cache. Whew!
At this location, we were in excess of twenty metres from our calculated GZ but we're confident that our calculation were correct because the hint, which we eventually resorted to, stated that GZ was only some twenty-five metres from the track and we were around fifty metres from the track. Also, the height of the cache from the ground is no where near where the hint states it is and the container has been drastically downsized.
I hope the CO, whom I note has logged onto the website as recently as this month will either correct the errors in this cache page or it they're no longer interested, put this cache up for adoption. It would be a real shame to lose such and old cache.
