Thank you for your locationless cache. I am sad that they are going away after tonight. Today is my one year anniversary of Geocaching and I came upon this covered bridge. I know it has been claimed before me. I am asking grace due to being lost for 2 hours, finding this bridge, which is very cool, it's my 1 year anniversary of Geocaching (so I should know better) and I want to say ood bye to as many locationless caches as possible today. HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOD BLESS! Jayel57.

N. of Foster Center, Foster Township. RI94 N. 1.1 miles from jct with Killingly Rd. in Foster Center, E. on Central Pike 0.25 miles to the bridge. Replica of an earlier bridge at the same location. arsoned the same year, rebuilt in 1996.
Here's the Packherd Hill Bridge in Lebanon, NH.
Historical Remarks:
Between 1780 and 1790 an open timber bridge without railings was constructed at this location for Ichabod Packard. The bridge served Mr. Packard's home on the north side of the river and his mill, a combined sawmill and gristmill, located on the south side. According to town records, the bridge was either repaired or replaced in 1804. In 1878, the open timber bridge, which appears to have been a Queenpost truss with the truss work boarded up, as replaced by a new covered bridge. The 1878 bridge was a Howe truss built at a cost of $456.02. It was removed in 1952 and replaced with a Bailey Bridge. The Bailey bridge was replaced by the current bridge, built by Arnold Graton Associates. It was dedicated on September 4, 1991. The Packard Bridge was constructed in a manner which replicates the traditional style of covered bridges. It has not reached the 50 years age criteria for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

Location: Büren an der Aare, canton of Bern, Switzerland.
We found this covered bridge in Büren an der Aare, a town in the Swiss canton of Bern. The bridge is 108 metres long and crosses the river Aare. The first bridge in this place was built in the 13th century. Floods and fires have destroyed some of the later bridges.
After being burned in 1798, it was rebuilt in 1821.
It was destroyed again in 1989 in an arson fire. The people who set the bridge on fire have not been caught yet.
The current bridge, which is the ninth one in this place, was built in 1991.
Thanks for the cache!

There isnt a need for covered bridges in Arizona, however there is an old one in the local zoo. This covered pedestrian bridge has guided people over the dam at the former Department of Fish and Game fish breeding lake, which predates the zoo. Phoenix, Arizona.
This is the Day Bridge it is located just outside of Prosperity, PA. My buddy Kelly lived just up the hill from this one. I have been over this bridge hundreds of times. I remember when I got my first car - a used 1974 Caddy... I was afraid to take it across this bridge - thought that it might fall in.

Quebec's Eastern Townships has many covered bridges. I choose this one (located in St-Armand, close to the US border) because he's the oldest (1845) and shortest (50 feet) in Quebec!! Has been builded according to the lattice design patented by Ithiel Town in 1820. There is a cache inside! Thanks for that cache!!

My father and I found the bridge on a geocaching day. The bridge is located in Henderson County, Illinois, near Oquawka. The bridge was built in 1866 and allowed traffic until 1934. In 1982 a flood washed it down stream alittle. A effort was made and money raised to replace the bridge in its original location, but 3.5 feet higher.
The “Neubrügg†(New bridge) is the oldest bridge in canton Bern, Switzerland.
Built in 1535, it crosses the river Aare in the north of the city of Bern, west of the Bremgarten district.
Built (1555) in the same style are the preserved bridges of Gümmenen over the river Saane (N 46° 56.659’ E 007° 14.614’)

Bogert's Covered Bridge was built in 1841. Peter Bogert, who came from Germany, built Hunter's Cabin nearby and his decendents built the bridge. It is a Burr-Truss structure, typical in PA.

Wertz's bridge is the longest single span covered bridge in Pa.It allows Pedestrian to pass over the Tulpehocken Creek.
A replica historical covered bridge in Heritage Park, Cerritos, CA. This is the Charleston Bridge. A wonderful place to take the family as there is much to see and do here. The Geo-Ranger attended a political function here back in the late 80s and hadn't been back since. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane!
I found this bridge on my way to work. It is located in the town of Petroia, Ontario, Canada on the historic grounds of the Petrolia Discovery, one of the first places where oil was discovered in North America. There are still operational oil wells in the area surrounding Petrolia. This bridge was on a road that ran through the area where the oil mansions were located in Petrolia.

This is the Erkskine bridge. Built in 1845, the Erkskine Bridge is the oldest covered bridge remaining in Washington County – and it really is a survivor. It beat back both strip mining and the floods of 1888. The Erskine Bridge (which gets its name from the former owners of the land) is just a tenth of a mile from West Virginia, making it the farthest west of any of Pennsylvania's 215 covered bridges.
Located 20 miles south of Dallas, OR, Ritner Creek Bridge was moved from State Highway 223 to a wayside park in 1976. The bridge has Gothic windows on each side and a cedar shake roof.

The Waterrous covered bridge in Pepperell, MA. I wanted to log this one before work is done on it next year. Not sure if they are knocking it down or repairing, but wanted to be on the safe side. It is named after a former legistlator.

One of the very few remaining covered bridges in California. Located at Knight's Ferry over the Stanislaus river.
Constructed in 1863 and finally closed to veicles in 1981. The bridge has elevated interior footwalks with only a wagon's width of space between. The bridge's overhead cross-bracing ws locked with inch square locustwood pins, which are still in place.

Visiting Jackson, NH (my ancesters where among the first 10 families in town, founding it in the 1790's). Beautiful covered bridge, still in use as one of the entrances to town (from route 16).
We wanted to go "off the grid" to find a truly historic, lesser known bridge. This one, the Hyde or Kingsbury Bridge in South Randolph is still used today in more or less the original manner, as the floor of the bridge still has the raised wheel track planks and sees very little "public" traffic. It was built in 1904, uses the multiple kingpost method and spans 45 feet over the Second Branch of the White River.
I thought I had lost these pictures before finding them on a compact flash card in a side pocket of the case. In any event, this is the covered bridge at Freeman's Crossing, Oregon Creek, built in 1860. It is near North San Juan, California, between Nevada City and Downieville. It is a beautiful bridge, just down the creek from a great swimming spot.
I love these covered bridges and they are plentiful in New Brunswick. This one is in Florenceville. This historical bridge was moved to the town from the country. It wasn't long enough to go over the river at this point, but they added on a modern structure to complete the span.
I couldn't belive this covered bridge had not been logged yet! There are 2 geocaches right here...
This is the Robeyville Bridge, built in 1876 and is an example of a long truss system. More info on Plaque.

Hurricane Shoals Park
This was during the Art in the Park Festival this year. Not as good as in past years, but it was sunday--and there were a lot of festivals around this weekend.
If youve never been, you should go. NO PETS or FISHING, but 'swimming' among the rocks is at your own risk. There are lots of other historic structures, gathered from throughout Jackson County.

This is the 195' long Pulp Mill Bridge which crosses Otter Creek in Middlebury, VT. It was built in 1820, and rebuilt in 1980. Sadly, it is deteriorating and is being considered for replacement by a more modern structure, since the cost to restore it may quite likely exceed $1,000,000.
This bridge is known as G-050. It is located on the Tantramar Marsh near Middle Sackville in New Brunswick, Canada. It is close to the Nova Scotia border. The surrounding area as dedicated to farming.
This bridge is in Dearborn Michigan....its in a park....I couldn't find any info on the bridge....I believe at one point the road went thru this area..and they change it into a park....you can't cross with your car now...only foot and bike traffic.
This is the Burr Arch Covered Bridge in Southford Falls State Park. It spans the Eight-Mile River, which at this point, separates the towns of Southbury and Oxford, CT. One end of the bridge is in Southbury, CT and the other is in Oxford CT. Using a scale model of a circa 1804 design by Theodore Burr of Torrington, CT, this bridge was constructed in 1972. The "Son of Under Cover" micro cache (Waypoint GCKQVD) is located inside this bridge.
I found this one with Rexy and Dingo, on our way home from visiting my parents in Mt. Angel, and the Original Stash, and even Project APE on an EPIC road trip. This particular historic covered bridge spans Grave Creek in Sunny Valley, OR.
The bridge was built in 1920 at a cost of $21,128.65 (such tight accounting!) as part of the new Pacific Highway project, and is the one remaining covered bridge in Josephine County.

Built in 1857, the original Low’s Covered Bridge was a one-lane, patented, Long-truss structure spanning 130 feet. It was tragically destroyed by a flood on April 1, 1987—the same fate that had befallen two previous bridges at the site. Loss of this treasured landmark, a link to the forefathers of engineering, generated much local support for replacement with another covered bridge. In 1990 a new bridge was constucted. It was assembled off-site, rolled into place, and lowered onto the original stone-masonry abutments that had been raised almost 3 feet to reduce the potential for future flood damage.
This is the Packard Hill covered bridge in Lebanon, NH. The photo of the sign gives the information on the bridge.
While visiting in Tennessee last month with my other half, Atrus, I came across this neat old covered bridge. Apparently, it’s quite old and historically significant to the local community.
