Double checked coordinates- broadened search and I was in the right area. No 8But a nice multi. I had heard about and seen the Woodlands series whenever I came near the airport- but havent actually come to find any. Today, after a drop official, early- I decided to try some. It turned out to be almost 4 hour time covering 16 km of terrain. Just over 40 caches were found, with a few inaccessible due to the new fence. Thanks Team_Woodlands for a great trail. All but 2 ,I found today had useable sharpened pencils. Terrific - I was carrying a pen. Generic log but small comments each cache.
Out for a morning walk with Team_Roberts1 finishing up the last few of this series today which had us walking to the south eastern corner of this park plus picking up a couple of previous DNFs.Gathered the required info and determined a set of coords for GZ. As a few others have stated, the coords for the final are a bit out, found the cache quickly after looking the hint but my GPSr was showing 15m off! Thanks heaps to Team Woodlands again
Checked on this one today.Changed the log.Sharpened the pencil. All good to go.
TFTC....and another wonderful history lesson, thank you Stopped and admired the remains of the bluestone stables whilst working out the final co-ordinates. Trekked to the final GZ location, cache found quickly and log signed.
Great morning meander before I fly out this afternoon. Getting toward end of my walk the coordinates were calculated and I looked through the ruins, took a little while to determine which of the hints was correct - all good in the end. TFTC.
Today was my third visit to this park in an attempt to find the Woodlands 100 Series. I was hoping I would complete the series today, but unfortunately that would not turn out to be the case. This was certainly not helped by the fact I didnt arrive at the park till very close to 12pm. I arrived at the park at a different entrance compared to my previous visits, beginning my geocaching day in an area I hadnt quite explored during my previous journeys out here. I then began my route which I had planned for this visit, hoping I would find plenty of caches throughout the remainder of the day. After spending a bit of time at the nearby summit enjoying the views of the airport and surrounding area I then made my way to the posted coordinates to gather the required information for the final location. I managed to solve it fairly quickly then planned my route and began making my way to it. But before doing so, I did a quick explore around the remains of the lower parts of the house. Very impressive. I picked up a couple of other caches while making my way to the final. As I neared the final location, my GPS had me in a bit of an odd location. Checking the clue, I then made my way to the very big nearby hint object and located the cache fairly quickly afterwards.TFTC
Theres sun forecast and I need to finish the woodland series. This is our 4th visit to complete the 100. Today we rode for 2.5hrs, shed some blood and finished with a 1.5km walk to grab a previous DNF and turn it into a smiley. Thanks for this wonderful series
I walked around the locked area just to get this cache. I had to get the coords again as they're on an old phone. After 11 years when I first started this series. this was a quick find after a couple of circles. Which one dead or alive?
My kids and hubby are at two different camps with Scouts. I set myself a goal to complete this series so I could sign off a Challenge cache of 100 caches owned by one CO. Unfortunately, five are behind a locked, fenced off area for Eastern Barred Bandicoot. It was an amazing day with the weather being perfect. I started at 11am & finished at 5pm. Big day!!

Another find by Snips&Co! We really enjoy visiting the house or what is left of the property as well as the history! TFTC, my 300, youhou!!!!!
I was in the area after dropping my partner and daughter off at the airport. This was my third visit and I'm slowly plugging my way through the entire series. I walked a little over 13km on this cool June day.
I found doing these today was much better compared to the summer months as there really isn't a lot of tree over. All these were found easily using the hints provided. Thanks for the series, I'll probably finish it on the next run -

A huge day out with a total of 69 caches found for the day (including #100 for me and #1000 for jaamc_3335). A big thank you to team TACKT for inviting me along for the adventure and Team Woodlands for placing and maintaining all the logs!
On a nice sunny winter day Team TACKT set off with the mission to complete this series, half way around we are on the count down now, the cache was jammed in so Nyochi managed to remove the log, signed it and popped it back, thanks for placing this series
Out and about with Team T.A.C.K.T including Jaamc, Kpatt and tag along cazzajane07. We had a goal to tackle this series to help cover milestones for some of our members, 69 caches down, 20km of park explored and we had a blast, there was laughter, tears, the occasional swear as we took on the long hike and we all had a fantastic day out with the team :3
Loaded up the deadly treadly and headed off for another few hours at Woodlands.
Completed a small loop starting at the southern car park, and doing several eastern caches.
Collected my information and worked out my GZ. Put it in the backpack and brought it out here.
A quick find but the container is firmly wedged into its hide. Luckily I could remove the top to sign the logbook.
Thanks, Robmc.

Come into this one for number 49 showed a clear path which didn't exist! Instead the grass was in clumps quite spectacularly and above-the-knee, which made scaredy-cat me very apprehensive. When the final coordinates were calculated I chickened out and went to the nearest actual path and walked a long way round but got there in the end. Of course if you do in the Woodlands 100, you can't leave one out, can you?

A day trip down to do the Woodland series of caches.
Took our bicycles and FUF009 came with us.
Arrived at the gate, unloaded our bikes, had a cuppa and off we went getting our first cache at 8.55am.
We worked our way through the series stopping several times to watch the coming and going of the jets at Tullamarine.
After a long warm day with several challenges, we arrived back at the car park for a rest and well earned cuppa.
We put the clues together, punched in the co-ords and went and claimed the final cache of the series.

Well this has been a long time coming, to do the Woodlands caches. Many a plan has fallen through due to health and pandemic and work issues. But finally all was on our side for a cracker geocaching day to end 2022.
With bikes loaded up we were off, left St.Arnaud just before 6am and had the first cache signed at 8.55am. Then it was just one by one, following the GPSr.
From flowing trails to bush bashing (with and without tall grass) and even a bit of water, we had a lot. All the while the sounds of planes going overhead, birds around and the odd 100 roos thumping the ground when we disturbed them.
We managed to make good time and accomplish all we set out to do. Despite the heat and a couple of hills I had to walk up.
We believe luck was on our side with the back paddock being opened, after seeing so many had commented on it being shut.
All in All, personally, it was great to finally get this series done with a couple others thrown in that are in the park.
Oh and by the way, we got back home just after 9.30pm. A big days outing.

Completing this multi cache comletes my multi month challenge for Dec. 31 multies for the month. My phone went crazy at 120 Meters and didnt change, so I restarted it only to realise I was with 20 meters of GZ.
Cache found and log signed with dalerious .
A superb straight forward multi in a beautiful place. What would the view have been like back when the property was inhabited. A marked difference, no doubt.
Detailed log about all of the caches we signed today was written up in the Woodlands Final cache as requested.
Thank you Team_Woodlands .

Having dropped mum off at the airport, catnap777 and I made the most of our day by cycling the Woodlands in such perfect weather.
On this our 2nd visit to the park together, we managed to pick up every last available cache in the Woodlands leaving only those behind the catproof fence for us to find on another day when Parks Victoria eventually unlock the double gates to the Back Paddock. [^]
All caches were found or returned in good condition with dry logs and sharp pencils.

SteMicMitSar and I have been wanting to do this series since it was published but couldn't make it happen for a variety of reasons. That changed today. All but two caches were found by us and the log stamped or signed. Lots of wildlife spotted amid the roar of jet engines from Melbourne Airport.

Love looking at the old homesteads. Found an additional clue in the logs here. TFTC
Got the information and crunched the numbers. Headed for GZ, taking in the ruins on the way. Began the search and had no luck. Eventually reverted to the dead version of the hint and, there it was! Yay. Thanks for placing the cache Team_Woodlands.
Today I finished the last of the Woodland historic series. 26 in total to complete the 100 in the series. Oh my feet are sore. But I must say what a great location and a great time I had here this week. TFTC.
Doubt myself with puzzle as I stuffed it up the other day. All good when able to write things down
Amazing thistles surrounding a small version of a tree like the whomping willow
This one on foot now to get on bike for last 50
Take 2 to complete these 100 caches after phone went flat a couple of days ago. So I was up early with a fully charged phone
A lovely early start to day by walking to this one

After finding the 2002 trad near the trig, this multi-cache also sounded pretty interesting! I gathered the information from the sign and walked past the other ruins nearby before arriving at GZ. It took me ages to find the cache, it was not at all where I expected it to be or how I expected it to be hidden! I was thankful when I eventually changed my search and found it!
Thanks!
---
After dropping a mate at the Melbourne airport at 5:30am there were a couple of caches nearby that looked worthy of grabbing before I hit the highway for Canberra!
I arrived at the gate for the Woodlands at 5:50am! So obviously it was locked and I had to make the short walk down the road! It was still pitch black, so I put my head torch on and got moving. I was unsure if this entire area would be inaccessible at this time, but as I approached the gates were wide open, yay!
Just a quick 4 finds in here, the one at the gate as I parked next to it, the next traditional I walked past on the track, the 2002 cache at the trig which was the reason for coming, and a quick multi to top it off!
Thanks for the early morning walk!
Thanks!

Nice to fit in a multi amongst all the standards. Lunch on the rock beside the stone walls. HN
Lots of wading through long grass and the vibrant purple thistles. Kangaroo? Check! TFTC
I've had the coordinates for this multi for a while, but it was very windy and I didn't dare approach the old tree.
Today the log was soon signed.

Eighth cache of the day. I am really enjoying this series. There is so much animal and bird life everywhere. A slice of bush in suburbia. There was a lot of thistles at the final GZ, ouch.
I needed a multi today so took an early morning walk.
Found the necessary details and carefully stepped towards GZ. After initially circling and looking at the wrong host, I soon found the cache close by.
Thanks Team_Woodlands for maintaining this large series!

#82, didnt have S E on coordinates so kept getting Japan in google maps. Found eventually
The wind was blowing fiercely and I therefore decided not to spend time under the canopy of an old tree.
I shall return.
I shall return.
Thanks for taking us here. Nice hide, accurate coordinates, so nice quick find!
TFTC! A lot harder than we expected but finally got there! Long pants is a must here to avoid the prickles.
All of the caches in the Woodlands 100 series are being disabled due to the current crisis.
Some of the caches need maint and won’t be attended to till the conditions are right to head back into the park.
So everybody stay safe and start solving puzzles for when we can all head out.
Thanks

27 October 2019 12:42 pm What a great place for a homestead, beautiful old trees, a few muggles at top of hill
Have flown down to Melbourne from Sydney for a 2 week training course at the Melbourne Tullamarine Airport Air Traffic Control Centre, but my main interest will be in collecting as many Victorian (VK3 in HAM radio terms) caches as possible during my free time away from the workplace. My primary caching target areas will be the Woodlands Historic Park (with it’s 100 plus caches), the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail, the Outer Circle Railway Trail, the Donaldson’s Creek Trail, the Ruffey Creek Trail, Eltham (Diamond Valley Railway), and the suburbs surrounding my Essendon apartment. This was the 72nd of 85 finds for the day, and the 155th of 242 finds for the trip.
With only one weekend available to me for private activities (between the two weeks of training) I planned to make the most of it with some serious caching activities lined up for both days. Today (Saturday) was to be the biggest day with a serious attempt at completing the mammoth "Woodlands 100" cache powertrail located around Historic Woodlands Park, which I had started doing on my Melbourne arrival day last Sunday.
Arrived at WP1 and gathered all of the required information from the informative information sign, then took shelter under the big trees (still lightly raining) to do the computations, then off to final GZ. Stopped off on the way to have a look at the more substantial remains of the stables, then continued on to GZ.
On the way I encountered an echidna amongst the long grass, then arrived at GZ and made a nice quick find. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC Team_Woodlands.

All the caches in this series were found expect the ones in the back paddock, a nice bike ride around the reserve, all the caches are in good condition
Today was a big day again of caching, making my way from Adelaide to Tasmania. Today I started in Ballarat and headed into Melbourne, woodland reserve was on the cards and the aim was to finish it off, unfortunately the bottom paddock was closed so I’ll be back once again. Overall 78 caches for the day.

Caching day at Woodlands Historic. Beautiful day! Awesome power trail series, This time I rode my bike here. Thank you Team_Woodlands for placing the cache.
We've reached that point in the current souvenir event where we have to find a fairly large number of caches and since I was out this way dropping M off at the airport for a week long work trip to Sydney, I decided to drop by Woodlands Park and get a few more of the caches here in the hour or so before it got dark. After I'd searched the car for a pen, driven to the closest supermarket and bought a packet of pens and a drink and driven back, I set off to walk around this little loop and sign as many logs as I could.
I don't usually do multi's, no real reason, so today I decided I would definitely take care of this one. I got the information and sorted the final co-ordinates out and then, in an effort to avoid a chatty dog-walking muggle, I walked off in entirely the wrong direction! Eventually I realised and made my way back to GZ. Luckily the chatty one had gone and I was in the clear to sign the log.
Thanks

(In case your a little slow it’s TASSIE)
This trip was to finish what we failed at a year earlier which was to ‘Smash woodlands’ in one day

Sorry for generic logs but we did have and amazing time in this area and a ton of laughs were had.

As the rain poured down around us, we huddled under a tree and studied a photo of the photo. Scratching some numbers in the dirt and bouncing some maths around, we came up with the co-ords in a quick fashion. A brilliant display of teamwork on this cache. Fav from us.

A great little cache to explain the nearby ruins. I forgot to take a photo, but I enjoyed the view of the old stone bones against the new aeroplane monitoring tower behind, the old and the new. Lovely tree it was hidden at, the old ones at Woodlands are incredible! Thanks again team Woodlands!
Well it's a return tip to the big island for myself and goose of gooseandegg, many many moons ago along with 1Toolman we tried to do all of the woodlands series in one day, we had planned it well or so we had thought but a puncture on one of the bike stopped us dead in our tracks and the plan of doing it all in one day was dead
Today 749 days later we traveled up from Hobart to finish the Woodland series with the 1Toolman as our driver/guide, the weather was looking like it was going to rain all day but we got away with a couple of light showers for a few minutes with the big clouds staying away unlike last time where we were finding caches in a thunderstorm.
We started on the Eastern side and worked our way round enjoying our caching and taking our time unlike last time, we found easy hides, nasty ones and a few throwdowns, pulling in a few outside the series and after 7 hours we had at long last the woodlands was found.
Along with the woodlands we collected a few other caches before heading home, the weekend was a great laugh with good mates with us laughing for a couple of days at one thing or another.
Thanks for the caches.

A little over two years ago we made a bold statement about flying over to Melbourne and knocking off the Woodlands series in a day. Well that went out the window due to a flat tyre but that is all laughable history now. Returning today to finish it off on foot, I really enjoyed the walk seeing so much more this time rather than zipping past everything on a bike (or pushing it for a while). Stainless steel rat, 1toolman and I braved the dismal weather forecast and ended up being pretty lucky with only a short shower during the middle of the day trying to put a dampener on things. Yeah we got a little moist but soldiered on regardless and soon dried out in the gusty breeze. The history, the views, the wildlife, the company and the laughs all made this adventure thoroughly enjoyable.
Thanks to team woodlands for this great series, it only took us two years to complete.

Generic log for Woodlands 1 to 62 and 84, 91,92 and 97
So here is my story for today, BackPAQer turns up at my house at 8:30am.. I'm not dressed or showered.. But we are going to start the Woodland 100 series as I want to hit 200 caches before the end of year (I only started caching in November 2018). So 10 minutes later Mountain Bikes are loaded onto the back of his car, I have some energy bars, a flask of tea and water and off we go..heavy ran for the first hour but calms down when we arrive. So First cache is the multi and its a quick solve and cache is in hand. Go back to the car and we are covered in Bull Ants... great start... be aware nests of Bull ants everywhere in this park, millions of the little things.
Anyway We set off on our bikes and throughout the day we find 65 out of the 66 woodlands hides plus 3 others. After number 22 I end up with a puncture, luckily BackPAQer has a spare inner tube... but no it has different valve, luckily i had a puncture repair kit so a quick repair and mug of tea and we are back at it. This is a great place to explore and highly recommend using a mountain bike. Lots of wildlife, Kangaroo's birds, rabbits Ants, spiders etc etc... Recommend taking some gloves for a few of the finds. By 4:30pm we had found 65 off the 100 with only 1 did not find...A great day out in a great location with some spectacular views over the airport. And yes I got my 200 cache
Thanks for all the hides

It had been a few days since my last proper bout of exercise so I was up for a decently long walk. What better spot to have one in around metro Melbourne than Woodlands? So off I went and during a 16.5km walk I found a few caches
All caches were in good condition bar one or two which had fairly damp log books. In those cases I dried out the log as much as possible and rehid the cache in such a way such that it was unlikely to be rained upon or subject to the atmospheric extremes which seem to have resulted in condensation inside the container.
Wildlife count today: 4 wallabies, a skink and a family group of kangaroos.

On my last day in Australia I was going from Philipp Island to the Airport. First I finished the Treasure Island Trail on Philip Island which I began one day before. After a short stop in Melborne I drove to this place because it was to hot in Melbourne for sightseeing. Before my departure I had some hours left so that I walked in the woodlands. The most boxes I found it quickly. It was a nice landscape.
Thank you for the Caches form Bonn, Germany

During a short visit in Victoria I could find this nice caches. If you have a little time to your conecting flight, you can do this very interesting Trail. Unfortunately, there were some three hours left, to do the whole tour. Here you can see a lot of kangaroos, which look strictly, what geocacher are doing.
Thanks for the caches!
Thanks for the caches!
Started a day over the border just near my landing site.
Imagine living here long ago. What great views and serenity.
Different now with flying sardine cans, but still amazing.

Only my second visit to this series.
I was in need of some exercise so I walked the loop from Mickleham Rd and Swain Street, up to Gellibrand Hill Trig Point and then South, down to #48 Fenced In or Out.
*#9,000 extra steps were added to my day.*
All caches were found in good order, in fact you had just done a maintenance run earlier today.
This was an added bonus as was the Trig Point.
A huge mob of Eastern Grey Kangaroos were seen on the southern slope. [^]
I climbed the stairs onto the ruins of the stables, just after the rain had stopped.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this series for all to enjoy.
