Dodgy! This may of been a nice area but not today!

06-Apr-13
After the cache had been muggled and destroyed a number of times I decided to archive this one and find another location. Unfortunately the railway station area has become too dangerous for extensive searching.

Sad area

09-Mar-13
Delightful spot this - rubbish & mozzies everywhere. It is such a shame that this facility has been let go. And even more of a shame that the cache has been destroyed. We found pieces strewn all over. Will need replacing.

09-Mar-13
Found in pieces with gourmetgazelle. A rather depressing place...

08-Mar-13
Cache is broken into many pieces & needs replacing.

26-Feb-13
Found the container but it was destroyed Sad just let us know when it's up and running Again so we can write our names Down Smile thanks. Xx

25-Jan-13
Rods hint was very distracting! Managed to find it tho... Dropped off mr. Badger

07-Jan-13
Going for pizza. Staying at the hut. Thanks for the cache break!

02-Jan-13
Nice one

20-Dec-12
On our way to Surfers for Xmas, so stopped by to find a few caches.
This was quickly found had to get off the platform to find it.
Did not see a TB
Thanks Magpyre

30-Nov-12
Quick and easy cache in a cute location.

It had been a while since I had been in Bangalow. I remember taking a girl to the markets here a few years ago and playing "what smell is that?" whilst walking around the various stalls Razz

Today, the markets must have been in full swing. But I managed to jag a park nearby. I made my way to GZ and saw a likely area - and soon found a cache. The patch job seems to be holding well for the moment.

I saw a small coin in the bag with the cache - I didn't realise this was a TB though?

A very interesting look at a by-gone era. I have posted up the co-ordinates that the cache is living at the moment. TFTC Magpyre Smile

24-Nov-12
Yay found it!! But scary but TFTC! Left travel bug "hegwig"

22-Nov-12
I found the lid on the track broken into bits but with the cache name still clearly visible. A little bit more searching revealed the lower half but no log. I duct taped the lid back together (it can fix anything Smile ..and added new log and zip bag. While I was fixing the cache a man and his dog stopped on the station for a few drinks which gave me time to grab some dinner nearby before returning the cache. I am not sure where it was hidden originally but I tucked it 'under' about 4 feet from the rails.

21-Nov-12
Unfortunately this cache has been disturbed - I found the lid lying on the old train platform and nothing else!

24-Oct-12
I had no idea what a rod is but thought that it had to be down there somewhere. What a disgrace that the station building has been allowed to to be vandalised to such an extent! Thanks Magpyre for bringing me to this part of Bangalow as I haven't ever come up here. Gives me something to perhaps put some energy into.

18-Oct-12
Found it

As I wandered along the platform looking at the rails, I wondered where the points were since I was sure this was were I would find the clue. Fortunately, the other half of petan was clued up to know where to look even though the passing loop had been removed in the mid-80s. For me when it was found it was one of those 'of course' moments - I've been to enough train stations to have seen the point levers on the platform, although in this case the point levers themselves are gone.

We've seen this station building in better times, its sad to see it so derelict.

Thanks for the railway related cache Magpyre. We love railway related caches.

No luck today. There were some muggle teenagers hanging around the station and some more muggles checking out the railway. Even after they had gone we still couldn't find the container. TFTH

19-Aug-12
Must be blind here. Waited for the muggles to leave before the fruitless hunt.

17-Aug-12
Up to visit our friends staying at Byron Bay. Today we came over to Bangalow to the Saturday market. All five of us went looking for the cache. Geodad had it in hand. The clues in the logs helped. Thanks for the hide.

09-Aug-12
This one was really exposed, and the placed looks like the local kids had some fun... There were 3 keys and some coins placed right above where the cache was... but the cache was empty apart from the log. It looks like the locals come here alot and write in the log quite frequently... Found with kadin92 Smile

29-Jun-12
Bumped my head but got there!

23-Jun-12
I think that someone knows about this cache because when we found it, it was out of its hole and the lid was off.

Shame that this has happened to these structures it would have been a beautiful historical area otherwise. TFTC.

03-Jun-12
TFTC....quick find.

17-May-12

03-May-12
This is very overgrown and rubbish everywhere and we did not fine the cache.

29-Apr-12
Found pretty quickly, although the GPS on the iphone was way off! Should have remembered to put the co-ords onto the Garmin...
There wasn't much in it so we didn't take anything.
TFTC Magpyre!

Interesting area... bit too much rubbish and broken glass for my likings with my geokids but thankfully an easy find today... at first I found a little container I thought was the cache but it had clear eyes or something in it.... yuck... change my thinking and cache was in hand... signed and outta there

My first thought was, lets go back and search the next one. To much waste under the old railway station. But after teadin some logs, it was clear that we dont have to search the waste. .
Searching nw from the coords is a good start

Arrived at GZ and didn't really like where our GPS was pointing, so checked the previous logs and decided to search elsewhere.... I ended up down right next to it.

Found the cache open, so returned all contents properly.

Thanks Magpyre, nice bit of history!

18-Feb-12
Looking around while reading previous logs Me Gap 'jumped down' and what do u know there it was in the 1st place he looked TFTC

28-Jan-12
Found the cache but no rods. The coords seem to land in a rather nasty area. I'd start well NW of there. TFTC

14-Jan-12
A quick find with Pomgolian who leapt down to retrieve the cache before I had even really decided where to start looking. Signed log and headed off. Sad to see what used to be quite a pretty railway station in such poor condition.

14-Jan-12
The start of my first of the last in NSW, at least for a while. As We head off to the airport. Managed to find this one using my Caching sixth sense. A nice little cache, found quickly, signed the log and back on the road for the next. TFTC SL TNLN

07-Jan-12
hmmm...it is possible I may have put it back in the wrong place :/

Glad it's still there and people are finding it though.

06-Jan-12
Interesting spot, remnants of bygone days. Not sure exactly what the Rods are; aren't they the metal connecting rods that join the drive wheels on a steam train? We're not train enthusiasts, so probably wrong. Whoowhoo! TFTC.

02-Jan-12
Found today. Still got to figure out what the rods are. Tftc.

31-Dec-11
Hoojar and I nearly skipped this one as last time we checked it was gone but glad we called this one through to check. It was there after all.
Cheers.

29-Dec-11
Aaaaarrrrggghhhh..... Murphy's law suggests this one was resurrected just after I had swung by GZ for a hunt... I hit GZ around 1330 today. How close was I to being greeted by a newly placed container I wander... Twisted

29-Dec-11
Under the Rods is back up and running Smile

Includes log and pencil. With small pack of cards, butterly and frog stickers for swaps.

23-Dec-11
Under the Rods is out of action just until I get a chance to put everything back in place. Will definately be before New Years! Smile

22-Dec-11
I am very sad to say that I found this cache in the middle of the platform Sad

It has been muggled. The only thing inside the cache is a used eraser and a packet of sugar. The log and all else is gone.

Rubbish in the area suggests it has been used quite alot recently.

I have taken the container with me and will try and get it back to Magpyre. I didn't have enough things on me at the time to re-establish this cache Sad

15-Dec-11
Brother and sister found it! Our fury geocache we found so we left a little something we've been saving for a special occasion Smile

20-Nov-11
Eventually found. GPS was out by up to 10m all day and this was no exception. We looked and consulted previous logs and looked again, found various syringes and other drug paraphanalia and just as we were about to give up had another look and remarkably made the discovery....yeh!!!!!! TFTC Magpyre (ps sorry if we give anything away but please avoid looking under the old tiled area which I presume was a bathroom....Syringes and other nasty bits and pieces. Keep the kids away)

15-Nov-11
This one took a bit longer to find than I thought. Sounds like I looked at all the places the previous searchers had been when the gps took me to GZ.

Signed log.

Thanks Magpyre

06-Nov-11
Found it. Been here before as a muggle during the markets. TFTC

05-Nov-11
found at 2:44pm. wecould get the GPSr to get close to zero for some reason. We looked around for about 15 minutes. I nearly walked on a small green tree snake while looking around. After a thoragh search I decided it was time to move on. I wasn't happy about a dnf. As we walked off, I said what about there!. Sure enough there it was.
sl
no swaps today
Thx Magpyre for the cache

I was passing through Bangalow today so decided to stop and hunt for this cache. I always enjoy railway caches, and this one didn’t disappoint. I found the cache pretty quickly then signed the log and grabbed Aussie Liahona’s pathtag (and a lovely one it is!). I left a LED Throwie kit. Once I replaced the cache, I had a look around the old station. One can’t help wondering how they would ever be able to afford to reinstate the Casino to Murwillumbah rail service. I can’t see that happening anytime soon – but on the positive side it does give us cachers some great places to hide our treasures! A great hide in a nice little town – thanks Magpyre!

Arrived at parking area near GZ..

It's a shame to see these facilities just left to be trashed by vandals..

After a bit of a search around was about to give up when a though struck me - and luckily it was the right thought...

Cache safe & sound...

TNLNSL

Thanks Magpyre for the cache..

This was a nice drive by find going through Bangalow. One wonders will there ever be trains running on this track ever again. This would certainly be a nice spot for a bit of train spotting as well as a cache.

Woo hoo! Long drive from home for this one. Thought we'd go to church today this end of the coast and make a try for this one. We were derailed for a little while as co- ords seemed to want us a littlefurther over but we were back on track and steamed ahead in no time for a Big Grin FTF Big Grin at 12:47pm. Thanks for the new cache Magpyre. Turned out it was market day in town today also but no worries at GZ.
Took: pathtag
Left: pathtag, carabiner, mini highlighter and car.

Last find in Bangalow. Almost skipped this one before a check online revealed it was back in place! Woo Hoo! The cache is in the obvious location, but the co-ords are a little out and I have no idea what the rods are. It is more under the platform!

Cheers
