It's been fun having this series of caches, but keeping up with maintenance has become difficult so after 13 years or so it's time to say goodbye to this one. Thanks to everyone who made the effort over the years to find our caches. Cheers and good caching.
Hi Tim+JedThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler
Its been two years since the last find and 4 DNFs, might wanna check its still here?
No luck. I searched for a long time and looked in every spot. Spent a lot of time chasing the indecisive gz with no luck.
No luck for me here, searched for quite a while, managed to find the hint X but it didn't help me find the cache! It's going to bug me for ages now, as I just can't figure out how it's hidden and everyone loves this hide, maybe another time...
Searched for half an hour. Obviously my paces are too small, so I widened my circuit without any luck. At last today’s wind became unbearable, so I left. Will be back with hopefully keener eyes.
Yay! Finally! Third time at least here and eventually spotted the clever hide. To be fair I was a bit clue fixated, which had me looking in the wrong places. The first part of clue 2 is quite accurate but the second part isn't at all. It was also quite a bit bigger than what I had been expecting. As the previous finger said, is a bit wet but the waterproof paper is fine. Thanks
Woohoo! Unbelievable hide. That's so tricky! So happy to find this one! Tipped out a lot of water from both outer and inner caches, but log all ok to sign. Giving it a FP for the great location and its trickiness... and the high we got solving it! TFTC
So happy to get this one. In January 21 I spent ages looking for this - like ages - including getting intimate with a lot of the bushes in the surrounds of GZ. Today I came back up to redeem that and make some progress along the skyline trail (progress = no green or blue dots!). This is a truly inspired hide - which i totally love - cant describe how i found it as will give to much away but super happy to find this today. One happy cacher heading off to the next green dot, after a very enjoyable experience here. TFTC Tim+Jed. Fav for the awesome hide.
Wow! That's awesome! I spent a long time hunting for this one and then stumbled upon it quite by accident. Master craftsman effort here. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this geocache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. Happy New Year's! TFTC
A clear autumn day on the Skyline. Hunted around for about twenty minutes, before discovering something that I'd discounted earlier. All good in the cache, tftc!
Wow, I think it was over three years ago I completed all the others in this fun series and today I finally made it up here for The Overview, and a great view it was. Spent some time hunting around with no luck. Checked everywhere a second time, with a more intensive search and a wider circle and still no luck. Another pass of the most likely candidates, and though pure luck more than good design finally located this very clever and well hidden hide. All safe and dry here, TFTC
Wow! What a very clever hide. Not at all easy to find but a great sense of satisfaction when I did! Very cool idea- thanks heaps!
I think that is the longest i have ever spent looking for a cache. Found hint objects no prob at co-ords then went wider. Lots of scratches from a intensive search where scrub and prickly bushes didnt want me and still no cache today. Have picked up the ones either side of this so might be a while before i get back up to this part of the skyline. Will keep a eye on this and see if others are still posting 'easy find' as it beat me today.
Found on a club walk traversing from Mt Kaukau to the Makara Road. Extremely windy at times and this spot was particularly unpleasant. A really nice hide and TFTC
Great hiding place! Beautiful view and amazing walk on a good day. Needs new pens/pencils as the ones in the cache are weather-worn-out.
A really neat creative cache. Spotted it quickly even though my muggle sister walked straight past it. Maybe it was because the chilly gale was so extreme - blowing our clothes in all directions, including over our heads!!! She thought i was nuts and left without me (heh, heh, heh).
Tipped out water that was in cache. Pat dried log, and put into a new plastic bag. A good dry out sometime will help, still writeable thou. TFTC.
NB: Hands were covered, and used hand-sanitiser and wipes to get in/out of cache and on the waterproof log. Took me ages.

Hunted for quite a while before resorting to solving the hint. By that time, I was so wind-blown that my sense of direction was all out, I never trust what other people think a cnprf is, and I had run out of wait points.
Was just about to unlock the puzzle when the scout found something out of place. Cool. Tftc
A great hide and easy to find with good co-ordinates and a bit of knowledge of what I should be looking for. I also drained water out of the cache container but dried the log and able to sign OK. Not too difficult if you are able to walk the trail. Fav point from me.
Out with my latest piece of Geocaching kit, my trusty e-bike.
I thought I'd see how much of the Skyline walkway I could complete.
A clever hide. Emptied a fair bit of water out.
The waterproof log sheet did its job.

Really enjoyed this one, tftc. A little damp inside the container but have dried it as best I can. Lovely place to sit.
I had been here twice before and failed to find the primary hint object, let alone the cache. Today, I noticed something of interest and was soon signing the log, wondering how I could have not seen what I saw today on previous visits. I am also a little puzzled as another object named in the hint doesn't seem to be there; if it has been removed, then a good job has been made of covering up any evidence of its existence. Also, once I knew where the cache was, I thought I would apply some reverse engineering to find the primary hint object but I still couldn't do that. So, I am rapt to have found the cache but I still have some unanswered questions. Thanks, Tim+Jed - another favourite point for a great cache.
Walking with family over this track. didn't think on Geocaching left mine GPS with the caches loaded for Wellington at there place. But with a break i looked at the phone and we were not so far from this one. We were with 4 of us and it was a quick find. Tim + Jed thank you for this one.
Came here for both the fav tally and the D/T combo - one of the most popular caches in Wellington - Great hide - fav from me! TFTC
Have use of cousin’s tank of a car, so filled tank — $130 — and drove to Karori for a hilltop walk in the breeze after work. Cache was quick find and nicely done — this series is chewing through my FPs
[3998] Decided to walk a small section of the Skyline Trail where I had outstanding caches. A quick find almost by accident as I was looking for the hint item then saw something and wondered what it was. Got lucky. Everything in order and worthy of a FP. TFTC
A supremely brilliant hide but thanks to the accurate coords I spotted it immediately. It might have been more rewarding if I took longer to find it but it's still getting a FP for the ingenuity. TFTC!
No luck today. Unfortunately Hint #2 does not decrypt when clicking on it on the Geocaching site and I suspect it refers to a "marker" we noticed near the coords but despite searching high and low in the general area nothing was found.
Fantastic hide. Tut stopped outta the wind and was pretty much on top of it. Still didn't find for a good while. As about to leave Bott whooped. Found it! Sorry no pen. Tftc
A strong very cold southerly this time but GZ is sheltered and there are few problems from other people today
Well that took some real persistence and very intensive searching What a concept Hardly anyone would have seen anything like that before Just as well I found the X and had the hint Thanks very much for some intriguing and novel uses of pipes for hiding caches in this series
Poured out a tablespoon of water from outer container Log still quite dry

Could hardly stand up at times but braved the gale and searched high and low to no avail Couldn't find the hint marker or any combination of the other hint objects that fitted Will have to regroup and try again another day
A real tricky cache for us here - took quite a while to find the first part then quite a search to find the actual cache.
First to sign the new log sheets - wet and container with some water but log is waterproof and signed easily.
Certainly a different cache here!

Wow what a cool cache. tmann found this one and I think I would have struggled to find on my own. Really had to think outside the box for this one. Very clever cache!

TFTC, and the fun!!
All back in working order, and in fact back as as it was when it was first placed, so please feel free to enjoy.
Visited today only to find the actual cache container has gone missing and a few other things in need of a bit of maintenance- so have disabled for some off site work. I hope to have it back to new in a week or so.
Mel0n found this almost instantly! For a person who claims he doesn't like geocaching, he's getting pretty good at it....TFTC.

Had a great day geocaching with Librarynana on her virgin geocaching adventure! Weather good and I hadn't been up to this track before but I'd really wanted to so thank you for placing the cache.
This one was a quick find at a very blustery spot - I wouldn't want to be up here in a gale! The log sheet was too wet to make a mark so we added our own paper and plastic bag inside the existing one. It was being guarded by some living creatures but they seemed friendly enough!

We didn't find the x on the rock but did find the cache. It was being guarded by a skink but Brooklynkat bravely secured the cache.
Good walk to GZ after leap day lunch time event. Had this one on my to-do list for my D/T matrix. Thanks for the cache.
Great hide, disturbed a little family, so tried to be as gentle as I could, TFTC
Shouldered my way through the wildebeest to get myself to GZ.
Once there I spotted there referred to reference point. Soon after locating the cache followed.
Log signing and re-hiding followed.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

I checked on this cache as I walked past here today. The inner container was sitting exposed with no cover and the cache has gone missing. I placed a rock over the site to give it some camo until a new cache can be placed at this location. Also noticed the nearby hint object is still present to help guide you to the cache.
So windy here! I'm not surprised the hint object hasn't survived the wind. Spent awhile circling around before spotting it. Could do with a bit of attention. Enjoyed the walk with LCBuilder and geodogs, we hadn't accessed the skyline trail from Hauraki st before. Here's LCBuilder and geodog no.2 at the trig up the hill a bit.
Found with Wafflekitties and Geodogs, had a lovely walk! Thanks for taking us up here, TFTC
Fantastic view, and a cool cache but... There is the biggest spider I have seen in my life!!! Unfortunately due to this the log book is unsigned, but thanks for a great walk!
Found on a lovely walk with the wife and dog. Second attempt at this one. On the first attempt the wind was so strong I could barely stand up. Gave up pretty quick in those conditions. This time around, the weather was much better, although still quite windy. Wife spotted this one after I read out the hint. Great hide. TFTC.
Cache # 2,554 - Been looking forward to this one, so set off this morning in the dark. Only 15 minutes up, no problems there. However it then took an hour to find the cache in the biting wind. No luck finding via torch, and hands got very scratched up (and cold) looking at every hint object I could, multiple times. Sun finally came up and I could start looking without torchlight. Eventually spied what I needed, and cache was quickly in hand. Hint object gone, hence the problem looking at night. Excellent concept, cache in good shape. Signed log and dropped off a TB. TFTC!
That was fun, while reading the logs I realized I was right in front of the cache thanks for this special one...

Thanks for the find. Found on 9 May 2015 with kell_why as part of jamboree on the trail!
Brought the geokids up from Parkvale road - it took a lot longer than 15 minutes! Very windy at the top. Had an exploration at the top while the kids hunkered down. Saw something suspicious and the unique hide was soon uncovered. Log signed and everything replaced. TFTC
# 300. Walking the Skyline with GSEL from Makara to Crofton Downs on a glorious Wellington Day, picking up caches as we go. Mr GSEL had already found this one by himself a few weeks ago, but he let us discover the hide ourselves. Very clever. My 300th and an FP from me. Picked up TB. Tftc!
#683. It wasn't very windy today so I decided to do a couple of caches on the skyline walkway. This pipe dream series has been really enjoyable so I wondered what might be placed up here away from the city. I started looking for the hint object and put down my bag to read up more details of what I needed to do. But looked beside me and thought that's a bit odd. Sure enough it was the cache, surprisingly more exposed than I expected. Log book was slightly damp but OK to write on. Left a TB behind. Only after I was about to depart did I notice a hint clue nearby. Lovely views up here today and lots of muggles about on Easter Sunday but none close to the cache. TFTC
Visiting my brother mathiasmadsen who's currently studying in nz for a semester - so let's go caching TFTC
Very cool! Battled very crazy winds up there. Had half time in the shelter of some large rock and ventured out again. Was very happy to find this one. It all made sense when I found it. Tftc. Worth the trip up the hill!
Awesome spot but do not go up there on a bad day. We went up on a nice sunny day and got absolute whipped by the wind near GZ. Took awhile to find but was cool when we did. Think the wind made it harder to spot because we were trying up right instead of looking! Lovely walk up!
Just moved to the area and wanted an excuse to check out the hills. Now I actually have 3 of the caches from your series. Thanks for the cache
Found quite quickly with TregearP on a blustery afternoon after doing Pipe Dream II, NLJD and on our way to Paddington's Johnson.
Have loved this series (TregearP still has No. III to do) but simple yet elegant.
TFTC.

Well another year and another week away from home collecting caches around the country (outside of work time obviously). Have been working on a number of challenges in this region for the past few months and now that I am in the area it is nice to have the opportunity to collect them along with this one.
Thankfully after all the fine weather and the then rain tonight was not too bad apart from a little wind so now was the chance to to fill in another square on the DT Matrix.
thanks for promoting my OCD tendency (Mrs Dragon thanks you not!!!) and giving me many more reasons to cache

Found the required spot without any trouble. Finding the actual cache took a lot longer. Found it in the end with one of those "doh" moments. Very clever hide. Fave point deserved. Grabbed the TB that has been here since last log a month ago. Thanks for the cache.
Another devilish cache in the pipe dream series! Absolutely loved this one!
The search wasn't made any easier by the fact that we were searching at night, and the beagles were mad keen to go and chase some rabbits!
After a long time of thinking "1.2L! it can't be that hard to find" we finally stumbled across it. Found by joshiansmith and safetypin'.
Over-all it was a great night caching.
I would give a favourite point, but I only have a basic membership.
Thanks for the great cache Tim+Jed!

Let's just say the large bull, blacker than the all black rugby jersey, nearly put us off this one! After removing a bright red sweatshirt to pass the bull we approached the GZ and had a seat. Decryption proved unnecessary towards the end of the second hint upon realizing the GZ had been waiting very, very nearby! Cleverly done! The log was slightly damp. TFTC

I was down in Wellington, visiting family for a few days and as the weather was forecast to be good for the day I decided to head out and do the Skyline Walkway - which I had been meaning to do for a while now. I left my car at the Old Coach Road end of the walkway and arranged to be dropped off at the Makara Road end. It was a lovely Spring day for a walk, with no rain and great views along the way! At the end of the walk, my GPSr said I had done about 20km, with a few caching and sightseeing detours along the way, and had found 32 caches! The co-ordinates were spot on here and something unusual caught my eye before I'd even looked at the hint! A very cool hide this one, a favourite point added! TFTC!
Great camo. It was all rather wet so we have put it back upside down hoping that will help! Thanks for the cache and series
Found on a days caching down in Wellington after a BIG climb up to GZ. It took a bit of searching about to spot what needed to be spotted and then what needed to be spotted next after some more.
The cache was full of water so I drained it however the log book was sufficiently bagged that it still signable.
Thanks!

Thanks!
Dammit I wish there were more of these.. (though we still have to go back and complete the Friend St one) They have all been great and this one did not disappoint. Thanks...and conjure up some more..
Plenty of cattle and sheep up here today but the seem well used to people. Plenty of muggles too. Totally misunderstood all the gentle nudges and had to go with the second hint. This is no longer entirely accurate but was eventually sufficient to find the cache - eventually as the cache is so well camouflaged it still took several minutes. I was amazed at the construction effort put into this cache. But the reason it gets my last favourite point over it's brothers is the layered hints Tim+Jed have used so that anyone will be able to find such a well concealed cache. Well done.
Tftc! Very nice hiding spot I'd actually noticed the spot but didn't think to investigate further until I had no luck anywhere else, silly me!
Found myself in the vicinity, so thought I'd check in and sign the book again. Still in good condition, though the camouflage seems to have deteriorated a bit.
'Fraid I had to use hint 2 for this - my GPSr was pointing me down the hill a bit.
And I was nearly muggled as I retrieved the cache! But as is often the case, not a second glance.

It's taken a while, but the cache has now been rebuilt, reinstalled and is waiting for your visit.
Thanks for the reminder on this one.
I plan to visit this weekend and get things up and running again.
We will log a note once its done.

It sounds like this one needs some attention. We've disabled it until we can give it a little TLC.
We were a little lost in what to do after finding the initial hint object but strictly following the clue soon brought about results. Glad too as we were in the full face of the wind which luckily had died down somewhat after the past couple of days but was still bad enough. Unfortunately the cache was full of water and the log book saturated. Etched out our name in the log book as best we could. TFTC
A nicely done hide, I have seen a couple similar but was still scratching my head a little before I spotted it

This has been one of those DNFs that has haunted my dreams. A year or so ago I spent a windy and cold 30mins searching in vain. Finally returned today and found the hint object quickly but struggled to find the cache. Got there in the end. Coords and hint were spot on. TFTC!
