Beechworth Road Trip !I joined up with Joolay for a Xmas road trip to the Beechworth area. Crikey that is some gully ersosion !Thanks for the hide BettyBoo3747
Thats some erosion Off in another adventure with Kittykatch. Arrived at Beechworth with the bikes and ready to explore. Day 2 Thanks for getting me out and about BettyBoo3747
Glad it wasn't down there!(signed log on 26 November 2023, a couple of weeks ago)In the area tackle the HSS Basketball Geoart before it gets archived soon.Out caching with D@geoThank you the hide BettyBoo3747
Found with gwd.aussie.Travelled over the mountains to tackle the HSS Basketball Geoart before it gets archived soon. Got a bit sidetracked grabbing this one but since we were passing.TFTC
I enjoyed the drive along Diffey Rd today, and I stopped off to grab this cache. It hadn't been on my list when I prepared for this trip, so it wasn't loaded into my GPSr. With a poor signal strength on my phone, the app was playing some funny games, but I found it with the help of the hint. Thanks for your hides around here BettyBoo3747
Chook joined forces with The Tritonz and headed to Wangaratta for a couple of days, with the main targets being to find a few solved puzzles and tackle the HSS Basketball Geoart before it gets archived soon. This was found at the end of the day, just before heading back to Wang for a lovely dinner at The Vine Hotel. TFTC BettyBoo3747.
With Geelong Cup and an RDO leading into our weekend it was time to head up north in the company of chooknchunk and finally try and complete the HSS Series before the CO finally says goodbye to the Basketball caches forever.Today after a 4 hour trip and a few exciting first to finds we set off to tackle the top bike trail late in the afternoon. The fit Triton and chooka jumped on their bikes while I moved the car along conveniently along the rail trail. All trads and Hoop hides were successfully found, albeit some were higher terrain than we expected, taking longer to locate and sign. The landscape certainly does resemble anthills, a remarkable location to place a cache. Thanks BettyBoo3747 for the placement.
Out with the family today, competing a few more of the HSS series and whatever else we stumble across. Awesome Spring weather. The erosion is crazy here, really cool to see. TFTC !
Time to head north for a bit of a break from work, targetting a few special caches along the way, with some night caching and 4wding thrown in.
Interesting terrain here. Just like a mini grand canyon. Must look massive to those ants!
Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, BettyBoo3747

OzHockeyChick and I had decided to join the Eldorado night cache group assault and headed off early (a whole day early!) to grab a few caches along the way. After a successful 4WD and weekend it was now time to wrap up in the area with a few more caches before heading home.
Found this one sitting out in the middle of the grass area exposed.
Have moved it to the nearby hollow log for protection. Not sure of its original location however hopefully this keeps it out of sight. Might need a CO visit.
Thanks BettyBoo3747 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Exploring rural Victoria as part of the SPINZ team: Sidewaze, paddle chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from New Zealand. I’m really enjoying the landscape and seeing what goes on in this neck of the woods. All the different eucalypts, the pepper trees and other interesting plants. The colourful birds, some quite noisy and some very noisy. The many vistas - - beautiful in sunlight and shade. I loved visiting each and every cache and really appreciate the effort required to hide and maintain them. Thanks to the cache owners. Greetings from Aotearoa / New Zealand, happy caching and if you have yet to visit us across the ditch to see what we have to offer, do make sure you enter such a visit on your “to do” list.
Found on our Rutherglen Mega trip, all logs signed as SPINZ (Sidewaze, Paddle Chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from NZ). Sorry about the cut and paste logs. TFTC

This is my first trip outside New Zealand caching and enjoyed getting this cache withTeam SPINZ tftc
There was quite a bit of discussion among the SPINZ team about giant anthills that some members had previously experienced. Another log signed off as we make our way along this back country road. TFTC # 19,044
We were out on our pushbikes today picking up a few mystery caches and as we passed by this one I thought I'd quickly pick it up. It was a bonus to find a TB to move to a new home
Is it amazing to have a look at the gully system after all the rain gives you a good idea of how much run-off is in this area thank you for bringing us to this location

Hi BettyBoo3747, I found Giant Anthills? today.
It is very interesting house the water has eroded these formations. Quite a strange thing to say actually. Thanks for bringing me here. Dropped a tb for its ongoingjourney.
Many thanks BettyBoo3747 for providing and maintaining this game piece for our enjoyment.

Found with suss vulture during the aftermath of the amazing Wangaratta mega. On our way up towards the northern part of the Basketball we called past to grab this one. The "anthills" look amazing, amazing erosion all around this area. Quick find at GZ, the lid seems to have appropriate camo of its own. The AFL footy cards inside the cache (of an opposing team to me) were a fun laugh. But alas, TNLNSL. TFTC BettyBoo3747!
The deep erosion and the 'anthills' are just stunning, another highlight of our explorarion of your area.
The cache was soon in hand, and we just had to take photos of one of the footy cards inside and send them to our son as one of them featured his current hero.

Day 2 of my Mega trip after camping out at Pioneer Creek last night I woke up early to go out and get as many caches before it starts to heat up. Caching from there moving towards beechworth then headed back toward Wangaratta where I will cache throughout the afternoon. Eitherways thanks for the cache and being a part of the day.

There is unreal and serious erosion here!
However, we did see ants all over this millipede.
Maybe there are any hills nearby?

This has to be some of the worst erosion we have seen for some time. The fence posts are suspended so far above the new ground level. Thank you for the cache.
Out and about finishing off the Hoop series, so grabbed a few trads along the way. Thank you BB for providing and maintaining these caches which were found in good condition
What a great spot. This cache was found quickly on our way back to Beechworth. I love this area.
Quick park and grab, covered in a good layer of dirt but in good condition on the inside, thanks
We departed Wodonga early morning for Wang and make use of a full day. After some shopping and a coffee in town, we headed off to Everton with the goal to take on board various caches Roadside/Rail Trail and Diffy Rd. Many thanks to all cache owners and all those caches found were in a sound condition. All in all, we had a joyful day and as usual, regardless of any forecast, this Team brings out the best of weather. Again, thanks kindly cache owners.
A weekend of caching with BackPAQer and Monch's Mob. Wow, these were pretty cool formations. Loved the suspended fence - TFTC.
Quick find on our multi team caching weekend. Pretty amazing formation, reminded me of Bryce canyon in Utah.
Found with howjen567 while heading back to the car parked at the head of the rail trail. Very interesting formations from some severe erosion. TFTC Bettyboo
Had a day out with my Cuz Capt Tomato.
Found after a nice lunch at the local store. We were in the car and heading back up at this stage.
Thanks BB

Out and about with geokid#3 completing a couple more of the hss series. I had previously looked for this cache prior to it being moved but with so many options at the time and poor gps signal I left empty handed. Not this time tho.. Thanks BettyBoo enjoyed my day out with geokid#3
This cache was exactly where it was hidden. It was however more difficult to find now that trees have fallen in the area. I have moved the container to a new hiding place. Will update the coordinates.

A 5.30am start today to get into Wangaratta by 6.00am. Muggle son from Melbourne participating in the Police Legacy bike ride, Wanga to Melbourne, and we wanted to wave him off, and take some photos. Driving with the group as far as Greta, we finally lost the bikes and started caching. We decided we would cache until our legs dropped off, or became so tired that we had to stop. Or eat.
We have had a great run so far today, but this one blew our streak. We were not able to find the cache.
Thanks for the cache Betty Boo

Took a while, thanks to the rabbits crossing this hidey hole. Found on our bicycle ride instead of cross country skiing at Falls Creek. tftc.
GpS was all over the place here but found quickly enough from the right angle - tftc
First day of a great long weekend geocaching along the Mountains to Murray (MMRT) trial ride. Caching the trail only took half the day and started at Beechworth with weather that provided great cloudscapes and had me wearing all my warm bike gear. We had to clamber up and down slopes on this first section of caching adventure. Have to say the caches out here were a bit tricky and took a little looking for at times. Loved the large cuttings in this section of the trail.
Special thanks to Strange Trousers for organising the caching weekend ensuring that we did not have to ride up hill all the way. Having a friend who encouraged me to do a long bike ride over several days with what was meant to be flat and was in fact rolling hills – map reading is an important skill to learn.
On this day it was nice to have Grimrader join us on the bikes – have to thank him for being the back-up guy and provide transport of bikes and people on the second day.
Loved the views, smell of peppercorns and lots of laughs along the way.
Logs were signed as "Capital Crunchers", "CBR Crunchers" and "Canberra Crunchers". Thanks to my companions today: CBRChic, Kittykatch, Grimrader, DarkSideDan and Joolay.

Dad again came up trumps where we'd already been. #31 of our Sunday arvo planetary pursuit mission. We've given it a solid crack & think we've fallen short...just. Enjoyed the challenge. Thanks for highlighting the 'ant hills' in the very steep gully.
Very very sneaky hide. Thank you for this cache BettyBoo3747, I'm a local to Wangaratta, love driving around the area, and have never explored this road. Thanks for giving me that opportunity.
We should have gone home after the Yellow Bike multi. We made a very honest and determined attempt at this one. We enjoyed the gully nearby. But we could not prevail. Thanks anyway.
I loved this type of creek erosion, showing the power of the elements in this watercourse which was dry today.
An unusual hide here but good cords put me at GZ quickly.
Time to drive over to Beechworth and beyond

We had really been enjoying all of the caches along Diffey road until here. Not because of this cache (or any of the caches for that matter), but due to the fact that as I was searching for this cache a 4WD came around the corner at great speed. I turned around to see this guy sideways and only missing our car by a meter or two. I certainly let off some very choice words that I will not repeat but the guy was already down the road like nothing had happened. After that I only searched for a few more minutes but my head was just not in it.
Please be careful here and make sure that your car is parked as far from the road as you can. I would hate to see this idiot actually hit someone that is searching for this cache. Thanks for the hide Betty Boo.

Mr Tardis had a nice drive around Wang, Everton and Beechworth grabbing a few caches. After bike riding yesterday a decided some drive-bys were in order.
After not finding this one last year, I tried again this year a bit more determined. After a few minutes I found the cache in a place I didn't notice last time.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache BettyBoo3747.
PS: Sorry for logging 12 months late. Planning this year's annual caching holiday in Wang, I realised I hadn't logged all the caches from last year's holiday!

The geofamily are off on another trip to Mexico. Fun, sore backsides (for some) and Dad getting the geomobile stuck and breaking his bike, TWICE were the highlights of the trip. One of the running jokes for the trip was 'If it's 2.5T it's laying on the ground, if it's 2.5D it's under that pile of rocks or in the open, if it's listed as large we are looking for an eclipse tin' which came about due to a number of early finds. The lasting memory from this trip will be the grass seeds!!!
Found while riding the Beechworth to Wangaratta Rail Trail.
Thanks for the cache BettyBoo.

Geofamily trip to Victoria... Cool!
Mrs Moneydork, Moneydork, sushilord and I left Friday morning for a 4 day jaunt over the border to find a cache or two
Two nights in Wangaratta and then a night in Bendigo left me with 10 DNFs and 205 cache finds one of which was a FTF
Day 2 around Wangaratta and our expected long day of riding was cut short by a malfunctioning pushbike That meant only 100 finds today with 4 DNFs
Luckily no giant ants were seen.... only giant anthills and the cache

Spent more time looking this time and turned the cache up after standing at GZ several times. Thanks for the afternoon out on a great afternoon and the cache BettyBoo.
Suscoe was out in the terrific company of Phetlern today on abig expedition..
It was another delightful day for caching and we had a terrific time finding lots of caches around the countryside.
As we have mentioned elsewhere, the country side looks great and the bush is full of bird calls today.
Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for this hide, a clever little one here.

We had to be on our toes with this one as the drop off was a doosey...we searched the gz thoroughly before expanding our search area but it was Happy Feet that found the cache very close to where we started looking. TFTC BettyBoo3747.
Out caching for the day with Happy pants and omegaman1971 grabbing some caching while all in the area. Took a while to make this find but able to SL for a smilie this time.
Thanks BettyBoo3747 for placing & maintaining the cache for us to find.

A 4 day trip from Adelaide to Everton, Beechworth and surrounds.
8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.
It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.
On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.
Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.
A great time was had and we left enough to make another trip worthwhile.

And giant anteaters. We CAME. We CACHED. We SAW STUFF. Eight South Australian caching teams on the prowl in Lake Victoria. We were attacked by vampire mosquitoes. We were attacked by rogue magpies. We were attacked by brown snakes. We were attacked by running kangaroos. We were attacked by publicans and cooks. In the end we got the message and went home, but not before finding lots of hidden cachey things using billions of dollars of satellites and cheap hand-held devices.
Great cache found during the "SAW STUFF" road, bicycle & walking trip to central Victoria with Shonky, Astro, Waldron, Southern XC, Uni & Freddo
Easy find, cool spot, great cache

Found on an awesome trip with the SAW STUFF boys (Shonky, Astro[me], Waldron, Southern Cross, Whitedog, Unicycle, Freddo & Four-Fun). The trip had it all including this awesome cache. There were pots and schooners (no pints) , mazzive mozzies the size of small elephants we hitched rides on , realistic lizards, real live [xx(] kangaroos that got to close and uphills. Then there were bikes and pumps. There was sweat and dust but no tears. My thanks to the group and the coordination that enabled an amazing fun filled few days that will go down in caching-lore. [^]
Thanks to BettyBoo3747 and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!
I was on leave so plans were made to head to the Beechworth area with My good Mate the Roostaman, Today the weather was perfect and we spent most of the day riding the MMRT trail from Beechworth to Everton, I was glad I had not decided to ride my 2k carbon bike down the trail as it turned out half the caches were off on another much rougher trail?? We found several of the caches along this section with wet and full logs. Thanks BettyBoo3747 for the cache.
Wow what an example of deep erosion. I did like the fence just hanging in the air. This cache did have me wandering around in circles for some time. I wandered to the edge... thought, surely not.... Wiser minds prevailed and a second pass of the site was conducted and we found the cache. Thanks for placing it for us to find.
This one was a very sneaky hide and not at all in a spot I would have looked. You'll need to look hard and low. Very low. Tftc
Oops, forgot I stopped for this one. GPS telling me here there and everywhere and I had no idea. Thanks anyway BettyBoo for the afternoon out, I can always come back.
GPSr wanted us to go over the edge.
Looked for a bit but just couldn't spot with so many locations for a sneaky hide.
Looked for a bit but just couldn't spot with so many locations for a sneaky hide.
Spent a short time searching but the GPS had us almost over the edge and we had no luck. Will try again when back in the area. Thanks anyway.
we shakes our head in wonder at the inventiveness of hides! the not so obvious obvious nearly had us but then those beautiful words.... Tftc
Thought these formations were wonderful, With Dutchie1950 and an Everton friend. Don't think she knew these were there, This is why geocaching is so good - to find all these delightful spots. TFTC
# 1126 - On our way home again, Triciac2 and I, from the Melbourne Mega.
We want to pick up a few more caches, but they need to be reasonable easy ones along the road side as we've had quite a work-out the past few days.
Although, while visiting a muggle friend of Triciac2's in Everton, we go in search for a few nearby and the friend is coming along. For a muggle she's GOOD. She finds 2/6 caches, and Triciac2 and I do the same each: 2/6! Good team work.
Triciac2 and I looked in all likely places, but Muggle Friend took a different take and.... found the spot that I never in a hundred years would have seen.... It didn't help that our compass needles wouldn't settle with an accuracy of 8m. Very hard to narrow down a spot.
I loved this area and took plenty of pictures. Muggle Friend had never even been here and was impressed too. Thanks for bringing us here.

TFTC. Last time we were here,we left empty handed. This time with CO confirmation that the cache was still ok and with the added incentive of a path tag we were determined to find the cache. It took some time and in a totally unexpected hidey hole we managed to find the cache, sign log and claim a new path tag.
As this hasn't been found since December 2014 I thought it was time for a check-up. Cache safe and well in its hiding place. Left one of my new pathtags today.
After walking part of the Rail Trail we returned to the car to drive further up Diffey Rd to the next junction with the trail to complete this section. We stopped of here and had a look around . The GPS wanted to go down the gully. We searched in some likely places but cam away empt handed.
Searched the area, but sadly a DNF for us here today. [8)]
Hmm read some previous logs and they say that co-ords are very accurate.
Our GPSr lead us to the side of the washaway and there wasn't any hiding spot's within
2 metres of here?
No idea how we missed this one.

My geomum, geodad and I went cycling along the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail and picked up caches along the way.
Our 6th cache for the day.
My legs were very tired from cycling for 3 days so we packed our geobikes in our geocar and drove up the road to join the trail and cycle downhill.
We picked this one up on our way up in the geocar.
Thanks BettyBoo3747 for placing caches along this great trail.

#1304 Our day of caching in Beechworth was cut short by stormy weather, but we did manage to grab 4 caches before retreating back home. This was the first of them and thanks to accurate coords we walked straight to the cache. We thought this would be no place to drive off the nearby road and into this unprotected deep gully - TFTC BettyBoo.
Met up with Team Crackers and Alansee, for 5 days of fantastic caching around Beechworth,
Myrtleford & Yackandandah. This was a very good trail for bike riding, which made the hunt
for the well hidden caches more enjoyable.
This cache was found quickly, and the log was signed as ACDC.
Many thanks for placing this cache, BettyBoo3747, for us and others to find.
