[green] Home for Christmas. Well, sort of. Home is actually Palmerston North, the rest of the family are in Rotorua, and now I am off to Opotiki with mum to catch up with the rest of the family who left for the beach a few days ago, staying at the Tirohanga Campground. I haven't swum in the ocean for years!! Got here on Christmas Eve after caching most of the way up from Rotorua, with the exception of Kawerau to Whakatane - the wind slammed the car door shut on mum's hand, and so we had to get it checked out at Whakatane Hospital. No bones broken, luckily, but plenty of other crush injuries. Time will fix them easily enough.
It's the day after the day after Christmas. I borrow my sister's car to spend a day on the hikoi o Nga Tapuwae o Toi. That's now done, although I have left a few gaps to come back to. Time to head back to Tirohanga, which will probably take 2 - 3 hours.
On the way in from Rotorua, mum and I tried to find this cache and got nowhere. Today I suddenly realised what I should be looking for and stopped in for another look. there was a security guard there, having lunch and hiding from the sun. He joined in on the search and this time we found it.

Came for this one some time back but there were a lot of muggles 'working' there so had to leave. Was keen to get back and have a go. Very clever clue. Thanks
Spent the day with a friend caching.... this gets the prize for best named.. nice one TFTC
Whakatane trip, the mission was 24 geocaches in 24 hours. It was epic, we got 27. This was Number 10 find. huge tank, glad didn't do this at night time.
Together with NightOwl90 and 3 Muggelfriends from Malaysia and Chile searched we a little while. As we gave up our search, found NightOwl90 the Cache in the last moment.
Thanks for hiding the Cache.

Took two goes at this one. Tried yesterday morning in the dark well before dawn and couldn't tell my pohutukawa from my pittosporum in the dim torchlight. Much easier in daylight
Many thanks
Many thanks
Today was a great day to be in Whakatane for a caching trip.
After searching around GZ, not knowing what the hint meant. Our mum & dad in the car, so no help from them. Was just about to give up when my sister spied the cache.
Really cool container. Thanks

Loads of rubbish around here. By reading other logs we reckoned we knew what we were looking for by juggling with names, but it took us a while to spot it exactly where the GPS had said as we approached, then changed its mind many times!

TFTC - great cache name - replaced the log sheet today.

Got this one on my Christmas driving tour from Wellington. Last of the day and found in the fading light. TFTC
We had the Aha moment when we discovered the cache. All is revealed. The GPS bounced all over the place so we made a few double faults before finally winning the game set and match. TFTC

After a lot of searching high & low I finally located this cache. - nice hide, although a bit more room for a log & trackables would be great! TFTC.
Haha, saw the log that said it rolled down the hill, so I knew where to look first, and try catch before it rolled down, but it didnt work.still wetn down.
I had no log small enough on me.

Early start for a cache challenge today. Second visit here for us as both times our GPS has led us up the garden path and both times we found what we thought was the remains of the cache container. Today we broadened our search and then spotted the treasure. Great hide TFTC.
Teamed up today with The Squirrel Nutcase, for an assault on Geckoh country.
Found the cache OK. But, bloody hell Geckoh, are you that tall? I used a stick to poke it out, then had to follow it down the hill to recover it.
Thanks for the cache Geckoh and thanks for the stretching and aerobic exercises as well.

Never seen one like this before. Was hoping for a quick stop and grab but it kept me searching for a bit and then spotted something unusual. Sure enough it was the cache. Good work Geckoh.
I guessed what I was looking for but my knowledge of trees isn't so good and the GPS was jumpy. Got there. TFTC
On our way out of Whakatane, exploring the coast and finding caches, We came across this spot, Nice little cache easy driveby. TFTC.
Clever little cache this one, had it in hand relatively quickly as I had a fair idea on what I was looking at and where it might be hidden away.
Thanks for the cool little hide

Once we saw the ..... we were pretty sure of what we were looking for, didn't take long to spot.

Even though we had a good idea what we were looking for, it still took a few minutes to uncover, TFTC.

Geeze dont get caught out like we did walking down from the look out thru farm land, had a very angry farmer ask us to remove ourselves from private land. Found the cache in the most awesome spot and love the container. TFTC
I wasn't sure about the clue but the coordinates were spot on and there was clearly something out of place, as per the the GC title. Very clever container. Thanks.
After coming back down from on top we quickly located this little pearler, nice hide and great theme

Walked Toi's track today with C&D & then decided to pick up a few more caches before heading home. Gets a fav for making me laugh, TFTC
Found on a trip 2 waihau bay. Had a bit of a blond moment, had me stumped! Then bingo. Found it and got the name lol.
A great cache in Geckho-land. Very clever. We loved the lookout just up the road!
After some time to recover from walking the Kohi Point walkway, and with the rain having passed over, we headed out to Ohope. This cache was a quick easy find, with the name making sense on arrival. TFTC
Had us foiled for a moment, real backhander, but team rallied together (it was an advantage) and game, set and match. Also...the lookout up the road is worth it! TFTC.
While looking at this huge tank wondering where to start looking .The hint clicked and I spotted it. Nice cache. TFTC
Thankyou Geckoh for all those Caches we picked up of yours today, very good walk from "Westend to Hillcrest.TFTC
And one last look around and yes there it was... Put it back at .GZ. Tftc took me a while, nice one Gecckho. Blenheim Bear
this was a wee bit hard ..... got put off the scent of the GPS but there it was good ol cocky jocky found this one. Nice hide!
The container for this cache was really good. The GPS took us straight to GZ.
Thanks for the hide.
Thanks for the hide.
Outstanding views from up high. The cache was a little obvious sticking out proudly from the pittosporum. Returned and wedged to the rear in the hopes that it will be less visible. TFTC.
Wow this is hidden well, the tank not the cache. The cache is well camo'd, the title made sense when I found the cache.
It sure did become obvious as i approached GZ & i was lucky enough to spot it straight away.Thankyou.
We weren't sure about attempting this one on a wet night but decided to give it a go. Almost ready to give up when we spotted something unusual. Nice hide. Thanks.

Took a little while because we weren't quite expecting it to be where it was! Clever cache, though. Never knew this tank was here and was a bit shocked by the amount of rubbish dumped! Thanks for the cache.
Oh dear - why do people have to dump their rubbish in these places...especially when I fell over on glass and put a 3 inch deep cut on my bum. There goes another pair of pants and fortunatly the cut healed without a medical trip!
You'd think by now We'd know our trees - but no! GPS was jumping around, but found it after a brief search. Shame about the rubbish dumped here. TFTC
Thought we'd ballsed this won up, had a couple of faults at the start, gps was all over the court like it was tanked and there were a few times we were well out, nearly at breakpoint we got a match and scored another one for todays set. Ta Geckohs
Very well named cache - had no idea any of the was here, and even walked past it last Friday when I did the Te whatever it is called circuit
We decided to do a few caches in Whakatane before leaving so this was the first on our radar. We parked slightly down the road and walked up to the GZ. While I was looking for the container Goldielover was chatting to a muggle that was jogging down the hill. I eventually found the container. Sneaky little hide. Signed the log and then re-hid it. TFTC
We had just said goodbye to our hosts in Whakatane and decided to grab a few on our way to Khakahe. We arrived at the GZ and as Stairman1 started searching a muggle came running down the hill. The muggle and I had a good chat and after she left, I started the search. Stairman1 came up trumps. Nifty hide. . TFTC

Had to go to work early before heading off for an adventure race near Otaki. Spotted this and nabbed it on the way. I couldn't think of any tennis connection before I got there.

Quick find as ariving in Ohope. Drove all the way from AK with no finders logged but alas was not first to sign log book. TFTC.
Pretty much knew it wasn't guna be a FTF but as McRoss still hasn't logged maybe he wasn't that far in front of me - called by after short work day, heading for a run at about 3.15ish. Maybe should have got up a bit earlier...
