We headed out to do some fishing at Little Musselroe today, on the way back we stopped to walk down to the camp grounds the gate was closed so we had to walk the road but it wasnt far. A few decoy looking objects and then we found the right hidey hole. TFTC we had a great day out.
Unfortunately it was still to windy and dangerous to attempt Mt Cameron so I had to admit defeat (really wanted the cache up there for my Tassie DT rating) so decided to head up the coast to Petal Point and Cape Portland for a few caches before attempting to move on from Gladstone (so many road closures up here ). Still strong buffeting winds today but no rain.Id read Mr Rhubarbs log before we headed out so came prepared with a new bison, thinking a mint tin might have been better. We couldnt find the replacement cache at GZ despite a very thorough search, tree has definitely lost a big limb recently, we checked all the forks that fitted the DT rating. Hoping the CO approves of our new replacement, cache now in a small hollow covered by a rock. Will send CO photos of the hide. TFTC
Disappointed here today ! Well we've made it this far from D'port this morning after an early and very frosty start. Coffees in Georgetown, and lunch not far from this cache, we gave this one a red hot go ! Did some 73 y.o. climbing all over the tree, but no sign of anything resembling a cache ......... or tell tale remnants. Oh well it happens ! Thanks anyway Tassie Trekkers.
Most people would be checking out the Boxing Day sales but Im off looking for a few mussels and caches!!On my drive over to Little Musselroe Bay I got to see a wombat trekking down the road. Now that fella has some muscle After following the track in I came to the waters edge and parked. This is such a hidden little gem. After having a look around it was time to get down to business and find the treasure Id come for. After a short search, I was able to sign the log TFTC Tassie TrekkersKeep smiling
In Tassie for the next few months. So many great places to visit and so many different caches to find. This such a hidden treasure. Arrived and only a few caravans but no muggles. Allowed for a quick find and time to explore. Thanks Tassie Trekkers for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
It's been around 27yrs since I was last at Little Mussleroe Bay.Just around the corner from this cache is the boat ramp and our starting point for a 1 month trip to Flinders Island in my 14ft Vandieman tinnie. What a trip that was, a bit rough crossing Banks Strait but plain sailing after that.Read the hint at gz but no cache. Searched nearby areas but coords were pointing to the same large tree.Reading the logs I noticed Budgietas had replaced.Paf was in order and soon had the cache in hand. The cache is now a micro(bison)....6ft high in cleft on seaside. Many thanks Tassie Trekkers for bringing me back to a memorable location after such a long time.....thoroughly enjoyed...cheers ST.
A day caching around the north east coast. Finding and hiding caches! Some beautiful places today including some places I hadnt been before that didnt have caches!!!Thats to all the cache hiders. Robtas, cached and Tassie trekkers in particular Replaced with permission.
Unfortunately, it's a DNF for us. Found a likely-looking hidey-hole, but no cache to be found. No further luck after 30 min of looking. Full log to follow.
day 4 of our 5 day camping trip travelling and exploring starting at Bridport and ending at Policeman's point to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. night 1 Bridport, night 2 Ransons beach, night 3 petal point.
Be sure to visit the windmill information centre on your way past. Not overly impressed with this particular spot today compared with the beautiful beaches we have been seeing but this place was teaming with birdlife. pelicans, gulls, fishers, swans and much more

This was my new camping spot for the night, on my 2 week road trip around Tassie. The wind was a bit strong, but I set up sheltered near the big tree bushes. Would have gone for a swim but the lagoon looked a bit weedy and low tide.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
When we were last here in March we couldn't search due to camping muggles sat in the nearby pitch overlooking GZ. Today was a totally different story. In fact it was incredibly eerie. Being that it's peak holiday season, the campground was totally empty. Not only that, we saw nobody on the roads and nobody on the beaches. It truly felt apocalyptic like we were the last survivors of some devastating worldly disaster!
Quite sad really though. Hopefully this time next holiday season things we will be back to normal!
Anyway, the cache was a nice & easy find. TFTC!
Cheers,

After a local highly recommending camping in this spot we decided that another night in the area would be a good idea. And we were so glad we did! The bird life was fantastic, as was the sunset over the estuary while the tide was out! The resident pelican also kept us entertained.
The cache was found & signed, then we returned to camp for a whisky.

After catching up with the CO's earlier in the week it was agreed we'd replace this cache. The camp area was closed so we had to park out on the road and walk in. I was ahead of the rat and enjoyed a couple of moment of just gazing out over the lagoon, enjoying the various shaded of the water. It was a little piece of paradise in my books.
OK back to reality, I had a look at GZ and it was obvious where the cache had previously been. SSR came over and we dug around a bit more before hiding the replacement cache.
One back at the road a vehicle stopped and we had a good chat with a local about the camping spot and the very noisy frogs in a pond that had formed from all the rain.
I really enjoyed this area and am so glad I've finally been able to visit.
Thanks so much Tassie Trekkers for giving us a reason to come and see it.

This was one we had agreed to replace for the CO and what do you know its the first cache where I forget to grab the spare cache so about half way to GZ I have to turn round and go back to the car to get the replacement!
Goose had already had a search when i got to GZ but we looked again anyway justin case and after not finding it we replaced the missing cache as agreed with the CO before we came out this way.
This weekend was meant to be a quick trip to the big island but with Gladys ruining that chance for everyone we came up with another plan and after a quick chat that Goose had never been to Musselroe Bay and i was more than happy to try and clean up the Northeast corner that is more than a days drive from home
Thanks for the cache.

Found the little log is wet so we put the only paper we had in our car so it could keep going
Found at 11.00am whilst touring the area, The drive out to this one was fairly bland, but the coastline is gorgeous. A pretty camping spot we will return to one day.

There was a barrier across the road here because the campsite was closed so parked up on the roadway and walked down the track to GZ. A good description made for an easy find. TFTC Tassie Trekkers
Staying in Bridport for a few days so that we can explore this part of Tassie, which we haven’t been to before. We won’t be over to get all the caches we want to this time due to time and tide!!! But we are discovering some really interesting places!! The gate was open so we managed to drive right up to this cache! This spot was very peaceful and not a breeze!

Camped here on holidays. Great to find this just 12m from our tent. Nice little spot. Found with Lekker_Ding. Thanks
Found with the S_38. The most funny cache ever, as after we found a camping spot and then looked for nearby caches we were just basically next to it. TFTC.
Quick easy find today. A bit buggy (and boggy) at GZ but I soon cleared them off the cache. Left pt. TFTC
I presume that as a child I may have come out this way with my parents but Mrs G never has been to Mussleroe. We were fortunate to have a very beautiful spring day. The whole area was magnificent, Tasmania is such a beautiful part of the world. Thanks Tassie Trekkers, without your cache we would never have come to this part of the state.
Found it, but it is saturated. I've left two sheets of waterproof notepaper for anyone who gets to it before the owner. (If need be I can tidy it up as I'm up there fairly often.)

BEAUTIFUL!!
Came to camp, but unfortunately the camp grounds are shut until Christmas. So peaceful here.
Easy find but the winter rains has done it job and soaked into the cache. Log very wet. Managed to leave my mark.

I didn't have my repair kit with me, so can the next cacher in replace the log

TFTC the tin is rusty and needs replacing but was nice to go and find this cache next to my shack
Boom gate was locked today, but was an easy walk into the GZ for a quick find of the cache. Great little spot, will have to come back with the camper once it's opened back up.

Travelling around Australia, from our home in WA.
Another lovely day with sunshine! Tasmania is certainly throwing out the welcome sunshine this week.
Today we headed out towards the coast. Beautiful day.
No camping today as the area is closed. but a short walk and this cache was in hand.
Thanks so much for placing this Geocache.

Took me a while but that happens when its 9:00pm!
Initially was worried that it had been overgrown but moved my search and the cache was found easily. Container rusted - nearly couldn't get it open.
Thanks for the cache!

Perfect place for a paddle in the canoe, too bad we left the oars back in the caravan.
Our fourth Cache for the day after locating Petal Point, Muscle Up and Muscle Down.
Found with Pax, Ashton and Karina.

After our appalling run of not finding caches today, we were very pleased to find this one quickly. This is a great location, and we can only puzzle over why it is closed to campers for the ' off season'. There doesn't seem to be any necessity for this. It was a little damp in the cache, so we just held the plastic bag out in the wind for a few seconds to dry it!! TFTC
A lovely spot except for the wind. Otherwise we would have been tempted to stay. TFTC.
#149 - 14:25; Third of 12 on the far north east run. Another lovely spot not visited for many years. Amazed to see all of the wind turbine towers now dominating the landscape! TFTC
This one was a real challenge as the camp ground was packed out! Eventually managed to find & fill out log - much stealth required!
When we arrived at this location the sea mist was rolling in and out limiting the visibility, although for a short time we could see enough of the bay to entice us to come back in better weather. The area was devoid of muggles and enabled us to make an open search. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. A blank log book (apart from identification) meant that we will claim a FTF at 10:05am. Just as we replaced the cache, two muggles arrived - one by car and the other by foot (presumeably camping a little further south). Again, thanks for bringing us here Tassie Trekkers and TFTC
