Fire has destroyed the area.

02-Jun-15
DNF for me today. Fire has ripped through the area leaving not many places for a cache to hide. I expanded my search area as one of the previous logs suggested. Photo attached of the area

I was out and about on an early morning caching run and this one was on the list.

This one took a few minutes to find as my iPhone was pointing me in the wrong direction Surprised. Found after widening my search area and I was happy to get my name on paper [^]

Allied Pranksters - jinta29 found your cache AP 189 Lions John on 15/12/2014 6:09 am. This is my find #2527 and find #4 today. The cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

08-Nov-14
A quick find on the way to Ades and to finish off the afternoon. SL. Thanks to Allied Pranksters for the cache.

30-Jun-14
It was a nice walk this morning to collect a series that I have been looking at for awhile. This one was a quick find with a quick scan of the area...TFTC

21-Jun-14
The plan this morning was to take the geaodog for a nice stroll and to pick up the last four unfound caches of this series before the rains set in. Parked up in Broome st near the primary school at around 11:45 and followed the track in. After about a 5k round trip we made it back to the car just after 1:00 in a slightly soaked condition.

This one took a few minutes to locate, a few spots around GZ to hide a lion. Eventually found it by being on the right angle and not as described in some of the recent logs.

Thanks Allied Pranksters for keeping the series going, Charli and I had a thoroughly enjoyable walk despite the heavens opening five minutes into our return trip to the car, a fav for the series.

01-Dec-13
Found John looking hopefully towards an empty paddock. I guess he'd eaten all the cattle. Tftc

14-Sep-13
Must have exhausted itself chasing cattle. I picked it up off the ground and tucked John in for a rest.

03-Aug-13
Will have to come back for another look, it might have been out chasing the cattle!

I was in the area but made a slight detour to pick up this cache. TFTC.

30-Sep-12
After a frustrating day of caching in the suburbs around Armadale, I thought it would be nice t finish off my day with a bit of Lion Hunting around Forrestdale Lake. This was my first stop, and I wasn't quite sure what exactly I should be looking for. Didn't find it on the way in to the lake, but did find it on the way back. GPS was bouncing around a bit here, and John must have been feeling the cold because he was all wrapped up with paperbark without even his nose showing. But I found him eventually, cunning little chap that he was. Thanks Allied Pranksters

15-Sep-12
Out caching with Me&B This one took us a little longer TFTC Allied Pranksters.

15-Sep-12
Out and about with the geodogs to find some lions today. These are lovely walking tracks with lots of bobtails to sniff and bark at...no slithering snakeythings to be seen today thank god. Lots of Arum lillies out this time of the year. Lost a good pen here waving about to get rid of some spiderweb.
Isnt it nice of the councils to build such lovely tracks just for us geocachers?

TFTH

09-Sep-12
Took us a little longer to find this one, sat and had a rest after finding this one beside a clump of lillies took a photo will try and upload it, great series. Big Grin

Out with caching buddies iluvtrekking. We dropped the boys off at the track to complete the four of the Lions series while us girls headed around the other side of the lake.

[:(!] Arrived home from the Oz Mega Event in Albury and having a free afternoon I did some caching to fill in time, parked the geocar close to GZ and then rode my bike to GZ, on arrival and within a couple of minutes I had the cache in hand. SL TFTC/TFTH

23-Feb-12
After already completing the 43 Caches in the Oakford Series by Geo bike you think that would be enough for one day..
but it was only 3.30 and plenty of light in the sky for a cycle around this previously unexplored lake.

This was Lion number five of the series, found with no problems, the unexpected twin was a bonus...!!!

Collected the nearby Munzee's, though I am still officially retired from the "other" game....!!!!

23-Feb-12
Out on a caching/munzee marathon with The Machman.

So after leaving home in the North at 5.45am and then cycling through the oakford series, hunting out caches and munzees we were all done and dusted by 3.30pm

Hmmm choices, do we head home now, or keep on, caching on. Can't go home, have to try and help MM achieve a nice high score for his highest number of caches in a day!

So this lake became the likely target. Had a bit of a false start with muggles then sandy track not suitable for the geo bikes. Eventually all sorted and onto a limestone track with the bikes (after some backtracking!) (minus the flat batteries too....)

Quick find at GZ, but what's this! Are we seeing double! Too much sun, not enough water? such a long day! Who knows but we signed both logs??? As appears as everybody else..... Never mind. Onwards, Tally Ho, Ever Onwards. Only stopping for the occasional munzee!

As per last entry there is still 2 Lions Johns so i did the same sign the two logs nice quick find for the start of the day TFTH

12-Feb-12
Found a bonus at this one. Almost didn't do this one as it was a bit of a deviation from our walk around the lake but the Geowife did object too much so off we headed and I found 2 cache containers. Upon arrival I quickly located the 'tiger' by following the geopath. I filled out the log and was in the process of replacing it when I noticed the 'lion' half buried in the sand. Another Cache?. The log in this one only had a couple of entries. I signed both logs. Not sure why there are two here but it may pay to check it out. I didn't find any caches missing in the series. I have left them side by side in the spot where I found the 'tiger', lets hope they can get on together.

Second sighting of the day but we appear to have changed continents with this one. A quick find for us on a beautiful cool (comparitively) day. Thanks for the hunt Allied Pranksters.

28-Jan-12
Out caching in Forrestdale on a hot January day, this was the fifth find for the day. Had to hunt for a while before finding this one, but my GPS was spot on in the end. SL. TFTH Allied Pranksters

This guy had gone missing when we tried for it last November. Pleased to finally put this "LION" in the trophy cabinet. TFTC Allied Prankster

02-Jan-12
Should have bought tools for the log but got it out with no harm done, another nice cache, onto the next!

31-Dec-11
Took a bit of searching for this lion. Was pleased to be first to sign the new log. Geo kids like these caches. Shame about the heat today.

20-Dec-11
As John had gone off hunting I transported another lion down but when I got there it escaped. I have Johns better half standing in until I capture the lions.

19-Dec-11
I put some GCA frogs with two of the other lions to the west but this particular lion appears to have gone.

I can see a lot of searching has been carried out nearby but the lion didn't seem to be where I remembered it to be.

25-Nov-11
eventually the flies drove me mad and I sadly moved on.

21-Nov-11
WE were successful in locating the other five lions but this one was too elusive for us today. We'll watch to see when he is spotted next. Thankfully his rumoured territory is not too difficult to access. We shall return - later.

16-Nov-11
I had intended to mow the lawn today but I received work that loins were on the loose near Forrestdale Lake and being community minded I thought I should help in their capture. A nice long walk with the friendly bush flies is always enjoyable.

This required a little searching but found in favourite hiding spot.

Thanks Allied Pranksters.

Wow took a while to log this series for some reason! Chwiliwr has said all that needs to be said really. We pulled up at the carpark and saw a car which we assumed to be chwiliwr's straight away. Met up with him at the first cache of the night and decided to stick together for the rest. Had an enjoyable nighttime stroll under the stars finding all six of the lions whilst having a nice chat with chwiliwr's about all things geocaching and much more. Decided to claim FTF's together for this series seeing as it was a joint effort. *FTF* TFTS

Joint *FTF* with maccasreps 2350

After meeting at a previous cache we joined together for the walk around the lake in the dark. No matter how we tried to approach this one we were blocked by spiders so ended up having to clear them.

Thanks for the cache.
